  • Facebook Adds Live Video To Pages Manager

Facebook Adds Live Video To Pages Manager

In early December, Facebook began letting a small percentage of people in the U.S. stream live video from their iPhones. Later that month, they expanded this to all verified pages. A couple weeks ago, Facebook announced that the feature was rolling out to all U.S. iPhone users.

Now, Facebook is reportedly opening up the functionality in its Pages Manager iPhone app with the latest update.

According to TheNextWeb’s Ben Woods, “To use the feature in the Page Manager app, you just need to tap ‘Publish’, enter a description and press the live video icon.”

I’ll take his word for it. There’s no mention of it on the app page in iTunes and I don’t use an iPhone (he does include a screenshot).

When Facebook announced the expansion of the feature to all U.S. iPhone users last week, it said it plans to launch it to everyone else in the coming weeks. This would of course include Android.

Given that this was nearly two weeks ago, we can probably expect word of that expansion very soon.

  • Facebook Page Admins Can Now Post Offers on Mobile

Today, Facebook has announced an update to their free Pages Manager app that brings a couple of new features, along with the standard bug fixes and performance updates.

Now, in version 1.5, Page admins can make Offers directly from the app. Bringing Offers to mobile comes just a couple of weeks after Facebook gave their Offers program a huge global update.

That update to offers allowed businesses to include bar codes and other unique codes within to offers, for better analytics. The bigger change, however, is that Facebook Offers are now no longer a free option for page owners.

“[W]e will require that businesses include targeting and advertising as part of using Offers. Businesses will be able to run offers for a minimal fee, but more advertising budget will lead to greater distribution to your audience,” said Facebook.

This Pages Manager update also brings landscape mode to the iPad, and allows page owners to post longer status updates.

    Here’s what’s new in v1.5:

    • Use in landscape mode on iPad
    • Eligible Pages can create Facebook Offers
    • Post longer status updates
    • Bug fixes and performance updates

The last update to Facebook’s Pages Manager app came back in September, when they allowed page admins to promote posts from the app.

You can download the updated app today.

  • Facebook Releases “Pages Manager” App

As Facebook readies its IPO, some investors have been frightened beyond the general terrors afforded by founder Mark Zuckerberg’s refusal to remove his rebellious-yet-comfy hoodie – they fear that Facebook might run into a bit of an issue concerning the effectiveness of its ad content in general, mainly the present lack of viable translation to mobile – Though, Zuckerberg has pointed out that Facebook’s mobile app is the number one priority for 2012, and the social network has just released a new “Pages Manager” app for iPhone. Below are some screens:

The new pages manager is reminiscent of the main Facebook app, as applied to brands and fan pages. Users can access Facebook’s Insights to monitor analytics, including page views, total number of users exposed to page content, etc.

The app is presently being pushed in New Zealand, and will make its way to the U.S. soon. Expect a slew of new mobile apps for Facebook, with the IPO in effect.
