  • Orange Is The New Black Meets Flappy Bird for Wonderful Time-Waster

Orange Is The New Black Meets Flappy Bird for Wonderful Time-Waster

Today, Netflix dropped an entire new season of their hit show Orange Is The New Black in our laps – 13 episodes ready to stream whenever you’re ready.

Here’s the thing – most of us are at work. Damn.

While you might not be committed to watching entire episodes of television in order to shirk whatever responsibilities you have at work, you may be willing to play a little OITNB-inspired game to pass the time?

If you want to neglect your duties, Netflix has made an addictive little time-waster called Feisty Chicken. You can play it here.

Feisty Chicken is a complete Flappy Bird clone, except the flappy bird has been replaced with that infamous chicken. You know the one. You must weave the chicken through gaps in a prison wall via careful clicks of your mouse. It’s hard, and addictive – just like the game on which it is based.

Netflix Gives Orange Is The New Black ‘Arrested Development’ Treatment

Netflix has just uploaded a video giving Orange is the New Black an Arrested Development-style intro.

“And now the story of a wealthy girl who lost everything, and the one family who had no choice but to help her keep it together.”

It even appears to have the Ron Howard narration (or at least a good impression of him).

Orange is the New Black: Season 2 debuts on Friday.

  • Google Is Doing A Q&A With Cast From ‘Orange Is The New Black’

Google will be hosting a Q&A with Uzo Aduba, Natasha Lyonne, and Yael Stone from Netflix’s Orange is the New Black on Friday, a week before the show’s much anticipated second season makes its debut.

The event will be livestreamed, and you can watch it here:

In other OITNB news, Laverne Cox just made the cover of Time Magazine:

The show has already been renewed for a third season (as if there was any question), according to actress Laura Prepon.

Last week, we learned the show is also getting its own cookbook.

  • Orange Is The New Black Gets Its Own Cookbook of Prison Food

Usually, if your dinner guest told you that your cooking tasted like prison food, you’d probably throw a glass of toilet wine in their face and kick them the hell out of your house. But maybe prison food doesn’t have to be all that bad, you know, as long as it’s marketed correctly.

Which leads me to the new Orange Is the New Black cookbook–yep, the Netflix show. Publisher Abrams says the cookbook will include “three square meals a day, plus snack/sides, desserts, and drinks.” If Red would serve it, it’s in there. If Red would serve it to Piper, let’s hope it’s not in there.

Here’s Abrams’ full description of the book:

Staffed and run by a band of misfit inmates, the kitchen at Litchfield is in many ways the center of the popular show Orange Is the New Black—a setting for camaraderie, drug smuggling, power struggles, and plot twists. And then there is the food. With 65 recipes, 12 sidebars that expand upon the fiction of the show, and 60 photographs from the show featuring favorite characters and memorable moments, Orange Is the New Black: The Cookbook adds new dimensions to any fan’s obsession.

The recipes cover three square meals a day, plus snacks/sides, desserts, and drinks. They include Red’s Chicken Kiev, Miss Claudette’s Coconut Cake, and Prison Punch. The sidebars include Taystee’s suggested prison reading list, the recipe for Red’s Homemade Homeopathic Remedies, and a prison glossary.

Chock full of in-depth information about the show, including recipe headnotes by the characters, DIY projects that emulate notable props, and prison factoids that help bring the show to life, this cookbook will bring a little piece of Litchfield right into your very own kitchen.

Last year when the show premiered on Netflix, Orange Is the New Black‘s social media accounts posted some prison recipes, some based on items seen in the show. Maybe the cookbook will feature stuff like this–elevated a bit and expanded upon? Hopefully? Salon says that the recipes in the cookbook won’t be so “sparse.”

Whatever the final product looks like, it’ll hit store shelves on October 14th. Orange Is the New Black season 2 lands on Netflix on June 6th.

Just remember this simple rule when your significant other cooks you prison pad thai for dinner:

  • ‘Orange Is The New Black’ Season 3 ‘Officially’ Happening

In case there was any doubt (was there really?), Netflix has reportedly renewed Orange is the New Black for a third season. Given that the company renewed it for a second season before the first one debuted, it’s not surprising that they’ve renewed it again before the second season debuts, considering how popular and critically acclaimed the show has been.

Netflix hasn’t put out an official press release on the renewal yet, but actress Laura Prepon posted a list of possible season 3 episode titles on Instagram, sahing, “It’s official!! Season 3!! #oitnb #alexvause #backtothebighouse”.

TVLine reports that it has confirmed with Netflix that it has indeed renewed the series.

Prepon followed that pic up with these:

    Actress Danielle Brooks posted this:

It’s hard to imagine Netflix not continuing this show for the foreseeable future. It’s become such a big part of pop culture that even President Obama managed to work its title into a joke at the White House Correspondents Dinner.

Season 2 debuts on June 6th.

  • Orange Is The New Black Season 2’s First Scene [VIDEO]

Last week Netflix unveiled a new trailer for the upcoming season of their hit original Orange Is The New Black, and today Entertainment Weekly has a look at the very first scene of season two.

The last time we saw Piper, she was beating the hell out of someone–and as season two opens, it appears that she’s paying for her transgressions. Check it out:

Things don’t appear to be going too well.

According to EW, this could be a theme for the new season.

Apparently, season two is going to be a bit darker, as show creator Jenji Kohan says that the show “needed a little more drama.”

The wait isn’t almost over by any means, but we are inching closer. Orange Is The New Black Season 2 hits Netflix, in its entirety, on June 6th.

  • Netflix Talks ‘House Of Cards’ Performance

Netflix Talks ‘House Of Cards’ Performance

Netflix held its Q1 earnings call on Monday talking about plethora of topics from pricing changes to Comcast and Time Warner Cable. Naturally, its original series House of Cards and Orange is the New Black came up. The former’s second season was released during the quarter, and the latter’s will debut in June.

The company is often asked about and criticized for the way it measures the success of its shows, or doesn’t provide much in the way of specifics, but the company is clearly pleased with the performance of both shows so far.

“We’re getting more sophisticated about how how we measure it,” said Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos of House of Cards. “I think that what we see is a hungry audience for season 2 versus a curious audience in Season 1. In Season 1, subscribers had no idea what a Netflix original series would be like, so there was some curiosity, but certainly not a lot of excitement going in. In Season 2 there was a lot of pent up demand. We saw a lot of very early front-weighted viewing for the launch, which kind of told us that America was ready for more, and dug in right away…We’ve been absolutely thrilled so far with the show from the early launch relative to how you’d measure television – any show on basic cable or premium cable.”

“We’re committing to larger budget shows, and the same show is more expensive to make year on year,” he said. “We’re looking at – the kinds of shows that we’re competing with – we’re still only competing with kind of the top end of cable for those shows. So think about it like a sports team, where the bidding can get quite high on a couple of key pieces of talent, but the overall salaries stay kind of in check.”

Asked about the upcoming season of Orange is the New Black, he said, “We had said before Orange is the New Black has been our most watched show, so we’re pretty excited to see what an even bigger mob looks like, who is hungry for Season 2 starting June 6th.”

The first real trailer was released last week.

House of Cards: Season 2 will come out on DVD and Blu-ray on June 19th.

  • Laura Prepon May Be Secretly Dating Fellow Scientologist Tom Cruise

In all of the wild celebrity pairings, many people would probably not think that they would see Laura Prepon and Tom Cruise in a relationship. The two of them have reportedly been dating for several months, but they have worked hard to keep things a secret from the public.

The two actors have been drawn to one another due to their shared beliefs in Scientology, the religion that has gained Tom Cruise a great deal of attention outside of his film career in recent years.

While they are both doing their best to keep the relationship a secret, a relationship between Cruise and Prepon was bound to surface eventually. It was recently reported that the two were dating, and an insider said that “It’s the buzz on the set of her show,” which could mean that they are telling some friends, but not wanting to make it public yet.

Laura Prepon has been winning over audiences through her career in television, and while she got her start on That 70’s Show, she just finished wrapping up season 2 of Orange Is The New Black, the incredibly popular Netflix show that features her as a woman serving time in prison for dealing drugs. The show just released a new trailer, and is set to launch its second season on June 6th.

It was originally rumored that Laura Prepon was linked to Tom Cruise after they were spotted having dinner together in Los Angeles. The date was back in November, and it seems that the two may have been linked for longer than some people might think.

Cruise has not been romantically linked to anyone since his divorce from actress Katie Holmes in 2012. As people probably already figured, there is a significant age gap between the two, with Cruise being 51 years old, and Prepon being 34, just one year younger than Holmes.

Reps for both Tom Cruise and Laura Prepon continue to deny the fact that they are dating, and back in November, an insider told Entertainment Weekly that “They see each other at some functions, but they are not dating.”

Tom Cruise has been married three times already, but perhaps a shared belief in Scientology will be what he needs in his next relationship in order to make things last with Laura Prepon.

It is clearly an important thing for both of them, and Prepon first went public regarding her Scientology beliefs in 2007, in an interview featured in Women’s Health. Cruise’s last marriage failed in part due to converting Katie Holmes, while she was also concerned about their daughter Suri’s involvement with the church of Scientology.

  • ‘Orange Is The New Black’ Season 2 Gets New Trailer [Netflix Originals]

Netflix’s much talked about Orange is the New Black will be back soon with its second season. The first teaser hit the web in February, but now we have a full trailer.

    Fired up yet?

Netflix also put out this video of cast members describing the season as “extraordinary, “volatile,” “turbulent,” “raw,” “complex,” “elevated,” “real,” “sexy,” “sexier,” “wild,” “deeper,” “ballsy,” “insane,” “scary,” “shocking,” “dark,” “badass,” “cray,” “f—ed up,” “a big deal,” “hilarious,” and “up in you.”

The has been present throughout the awards season, and most recently won an Peabody, as did House of Cards, another Netflix original.

In other Netflix show news, earlier this week, they put out a teaser for the upcoming season of Hemlock Grove, which debuts in July.

Orange is the New Black: Season 2 debuts on Netflix on June 6th.

  • Laura Prepon Reportedly Dating Tom Cruise

Xenu, the 75-million-year-old dictator of the “Galactic Confederacy” described in Scientology doctrine has allegedly shined his celestial light upon Orange Is the New Black star Laura Prepon, bringing her together with Scientology heavyweight Tom Cruise. The two are reportedly dating, though secretly.

Rumors of a budding relationship between the two first surfaced after it was reported that Cruise, 51, had treated Prepon, 34, to an elaborate date at Renaisssance, an eatery inside the Church of Scientology’s Celebrity Centre in Los Angeles in November. The couple was reportedly spotted again at the Renaissance, as well as at a party hosted by fellow Scientologist higher-ups John Travolta and Kelly Preston.

Having dated That ’70s Show co-star Danny Masterson for several years, Prepon is well-versed in the teachings of Xenu whisking billions of humans away from his home world, only to stagger them around Earth volcanoes to kill them using hydrogen bombs, thus trapping the essences of their souls in the atomosphere, which have formed around modern man, rendering them spiritual battered. Incidentally, within the Church of Scientology, the Xenu history is part of the church’s secret “Advanced Technology,” considered a sacred and esoteric teaching, reserved for members who have contributed large amounts of money.

Here Cruise displays his A-list charisma while hawking the virtues of Scientological power:

Prepon first went public regarding her Scientology beliefs in 2007, in an interview featured in Women’s Health, and the thrice-divorced Cruise has likely learned that a strong belief in the church is key to sustaining a lasting relationship. Cruise’s ex-wife Katie Holmes abruptly filed for divorce in 2012, after reportedly becoming concerned over daughter Suri’s involvement in the Church of Scientology.

Why reps for both actors deny any romance, perhaps it’s a match made in Teegeeack, or “Earth,” as Xenu might call it.

Prepon is presently working on season 2 of Orange Is the New Black, while Cruise is allegedly developing Top Gun 2, to reprise his iconic role as the fighter pilot Maverick.

  • Jennifer Lopez Among 2014 GLAAD Honorees

Jennifer Lopez was honored at the 2014 GLAAD Awards this weekend at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. The 25th annual Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation Media Awards was dubbed ‘GLAAD 2.0’ by CEO Kate Ellis.

“It’s a whole new world for us,” she said.

Ellen Page made her first public remarks since coming out while she presented the Stephen F. Kolzak award to Laverne Cox from Orange is the New Black.

“One of the best things about it was the way it enabled me to publicly show support for the people who inspire me and give me courage,” Page said.

Cox, who also received a GLAAD Media Award back in 2009 for starring in VH1’s I Want to Work for Diddy, shared what she has in common with Lopez, who previously was in a relationship with Diddy.

“I’d like to think about after doing that show that Jennifer Lopez and I both have some memories with Diddy that we’re trying to forget,” she said.

Host Ross Matthews expressed his admiration for Jennifer Lopez, saying, “Honey, I’m gay but there’s always room for J. Lo,” said Matthews. “I love you Mami.”

Rita Moreno presented the Vanguard Award to Jennifer Lopez, and remarked about Lopez’s acceptance of the first openly gay contestant on American Idol.

“It’s ironic that Jennifer Lopez has been so successful as a judge on American Idol because the woman in real life does not judge,” Moreno said.

Lopez admitted she experienced a bit of trepidation about working on The Fosters, which focuses on a lesbian couple raising their two twins as well as some foster children.

“I asked myself, do I do this or do I not do this,” said Lopez. “I’m not going to lie to you. Being in the media, being in the public eye is a bitch sometimes and sometimes you don’t feel like getting beat up that day.”

Jennifer Lopez serves as executive director of The Fosters, which is set to air for its second season on the ABC Family network starting in June.

Kudos to J. Lo for receiving the GLAAD honor, but even more importantly for being the kind of loving and accepting person that she so clearly is. The world could use more people like her.

  • Jennifer Lopez Honored at GLAAD Awards

Jennifer Lopez Honored at GLAAD Awards

Jennifer Lopez was among those honored at the 25th annual Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) Media Awards at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on Saturday.

Rita Moreno, the first Hispanic woman to ever win an Oscar, presented the Vanguard Award to Lopez for her work as an executive producer on the ABC Family drama series, The Fosters.

“It’s ironic that Jennifer Lopez has been so successful as a judge on American Idol, because she doesn’t judge,” Moreno said.

Lopez, onstage in a sequined dress by designer Zuhair Murad, explained that she was conflicted about working on The Fosters, which focuses on a lesbian couple raising their twins and foster children.

Lopez said that she listened to her “heart” over her “gut” when she made the decision to work on the show.

“I asked myself, do I do this or do I not do this,” said Lopez. “I’m not going to lie to you. Being in the media, being in the public eye is a bitch sometimes and sometimes you don’t feel like getting beat up that day,” she said.

“I’ve always felt tremendous love for the LGBT community and the LGBT community has always supported me and returned that love. That was one reason I wanted to produce this,” the 44-year-old singer said.

Lopez also said her Aunt Marisa was an inspiration in her decision to work on The Fosters.

“Tia Marisa was my cool aunt. She was my mom’s older sister. I lived in the Bronx and she lived in Manhattan. Like worlds away. And she wanted to be an actress and I always wanted to be like her,” Lopez continued.

“Marisa [was] gay in a time [when] life could be very difficult, and that her struggles were mostly kept to herself. It wasn’t until I got older that I really got to know and appreciate the difficulties that she dealt with and the struggles of her community,” Lopez said.

“I also realized the lessons I’ve learned from my family about love, tolerance, and acceptance…So I wanted to do this because I thought that she would be so proud of me. I thought about that a lot when I was doing this and as I do it now…The world is changing and that’s because love is stronger than hate. It’s been proven many times tonight,” Lopez said.

Ross Matthews, who hosted the awards ceremony, cracked jokes throughout the evening, and expressed his admiration for Lopez.

“Honey, I’m gay but there’s always room for J.Lo,” said Matthews.

“I love you Mami,” he said.

    Lopez donated $25,000 to GLAAD.

Transgender actress Laverne Cox, who stars in the Netflix series Orange is the New Black, was also honored at the event.

Additional awards will be distributed at the GLAAD event in New York on May 3.

  • Kate Mulgrew Duped into Narrating Documentary

Actress Kate Mulgrew said on Tuesday in a statement on her Facebook page that she does not stand behind her latest project, a geocentric documentary called The Principle, and that she was “misinformed” about it when she agreed to narrate the film.

Mulgrew, known for her leading role as Capt. Kathryn Janeway in Star Trek: Voyager, posted an explanation on her Facebook page Tuesday, dissociating herself from the controversial documentary that promotes the long debunked theory that the sun revolves around the Earth.

A trailer for The Principle, directed by Katheryne Thomas, begins with a voiceover from Mulgrew: “Everything we think we know about our universe is wrong.”

Robert Sungenis, a Catholic apologist who runs a blog called Galileo Was Wrong, produced the documentary.

Mulgrew, who currently stars as Red in the hit Netflix series Orange is the New Black, said in her statement that she does not ascribe to Sungenis’ theories or geocentrism, and that she would not have participated in the project had she known he was involved.

Prominent scientist Laurence Krauss also appears in the documentary and claimed in a Twitter post on Tuesday that he was misrepresented in the film.   Krauss wrote in an article for Slate on Tuesday that “The notion that anyone in the 21st century could take seriously the notion that the sun orbits the Earth, or that the Earth is the centre of the universe, is almost unbelievable.” He also explained that he was reluctant to sue the filmmakers because “it would elevate the profile of something that shouldn’t even rise to the level of popular discussion." • Netflix’s ‘House Of Cards’ And ‘Orange Is The New Black’ Win Peabody Awards

The awards for Netflix’s original programming just keep coming. Now, House of Cards and Orange is the New Black have both won Peabody Awards, which are designed to award “stories that matter”.

Both shows have been ever-present throughout the awards circuit, and both are just in their sophomore seasons, with House of Cards: Season 2 having been released a couple months ago, and Orange is the New Black: Season 2 due out in June.

Some words from Peabody Awards Director Dr. Jeffrey P. Jones:

By recognizing specific programming, the Peabody Awards spotlight instances of how electronic media can teach, expand our horizons, defend the public interest, or encourage empathy with others. Such excellent stories exist across genres and media types, and across regions and borders.

When the first set of Peabody Awards were given out in 1941, broadcasting meant radio. Before the decade was over, the scope of the award grew to include television storytelling. By the late 20th Century, television was redefined through cable and satellite technologies. The Peabody Awards again recognized shifts in storytelling as a result of these changes.

Early into the 21st century, we began to celebrate exemplary web content, which continues to open doors for new forms of storytelling. And now, with programming readily available for on-demand and online streaming through new platforms and exhibition spaces, what separates these spaces is less meaningful than the stories being told there. Throughout all this, the scope of the Peabody Awards continues to grow as media changes, but our goal remains the same: to recognize stories that matter.

Obviously Netflix’s big hits illustrate Jones’ point about the changing landscape of how we consume media. These shows have been huge in ushering in web content as a truly valid and respected form of entertainment on par with premium cable channels.

  • Laura Prepon is Back as Alex Vause in ‘OITNB’

After some initial doubts, it became clear this week that Laura Prepon will return in her role as Alex Vause in Season 2 of Netflix’s Orange is the New Black.

Netflix released photos this week of the new season of the hit series that showed Alex Vause is back.

Prepon had reportedly not signed on as a series regular for the show’s second season, but the photos make it clear her character will appear for more than just what was initially rumored to be just four episodes.

While the photos did not give much away in terms of plot, they do indeed show Alex Vause in different scenarios with the other inmates. One shot shows Vause with character Piper Chapman wearing normal clothes, which may be a flashback scene. Another shows Vause alongside other inmates dressed in business attire for a job fair.

Prepon’s character Alex is the ex-girlfriend of the show’s lead character, Piper Chapman, played by Taylor Schilling. Piper is a young, bisexual woman who was sent to prison for carrying drug money for Alex, and the two meet again in prison.

The show is based on Piper Kerman’s memoir and was adapted by Jenji Kohan, who was also behind Weeds. The popular series was renewed for a second season last June, weeks before it even premiered on Netflix.

“It’s a true ensemble,” Schilling told People.

“In season two, we’ll see how Piper’s story continues, but the show also gets wider and deeper to tell the stories of even more of the women,” explained Schilling.

Viewers can catch Season 2 of Orange is the New Black on Netflix on June 6, when it will be released in its entirety.

  • Google Suggests You Watch ‘House Of Cards’ Online For Free At Stream-TV Over Netflix [Updated]

Google Suggests You Watch ‘House Of Cards’ Online For Free At Stream-TV Over Netflix [Updated]

Update: Since this was first published, Google is now showing Netflix at the top of the organic results for the House of Cards example. It has also been brought to my attention that nobody is really using the “watch house of cards” query. I guess that’s good. I really wasn’t trying to suggest that this is the way everybody gets to these shows. I just found it odd that Google would display such results for such queries. Despite its apparent low search volume, a query like “watch house of cards” doesn’t seem all that crazy to me. Either way, this isn’t how the majority of people find these shows, and it was never my intention to imply that it was.

Google is suggesting that users looking to “watch House of Cards” check out Stream-TV.me, which is pointing users to episodes from both seasons “online free”. I’m sure you’ve encountered sites like this before even if not this specific one.

Note: I’m adding this update in response to comments received on this article. This is Google’s algorithm dictating which results to show. I’m in no way suggesting that Google as a company is encouraging piracy.

What’s interesting is that Google would put this as the first result for the query, ahead of Netflix itself (which is the second result). Other sites like couchtuner.eu and TVmuse.com also promising episodes online for free are sprinkled throughout the top ten, along with various videos and articles from sources like ABC and Variety. The “news” results suggest the user “watch the kinky sex scene everyone is talking about.”

If you turn off “Search Plus Your World,” a Netflix ad appears at the top, but it’s still under Stream-TV in the organic results.

    house of cards

I’m not sure what the personalization of SPYW is about here, by the way. Does Google know I’m a Netflix subscriber so it doesn’t bother to show me the ad when I have it enabled?

Look how far down on the page Netflix is for Orange is the New Black:

Similar results occur for other Netflix originals like Lilyhammer, Hemlock Grove, Arrested Development, and Derek. Netflix isn’t even in the results for Mako Mermaids:

Netflix doesn’t make an appearance at all until page six, and that’s just a post from the Netflix Nodics newsroom, which doesn’t even work. I got through fourteen pages of results without finding a link to watch it on Netflix, which is without question the most relevant destination (at least here in the U.S.).

How does it do on other Netflix original content like documentary The Square, which is nominated for an Oscar? Well, Netflix gets the top spot in the organic results on that one, but a Google house ad to get it from Google Play appears above that, which is interesting considering it’s not currently available on Google Play. Click it, and you’ll realize that Google is just trying to sell you a 2008 film of the same name. All of Google’s organic results know that this isn’t the film you’re looking for (and by the way, where’s the Knowledge Graph option to choose on this one?), but that doesn’t mean Google can’t try to sell you something completely irrelevant at the top of the page. Also notice the other irrelevant ad on the side.

How about the Aziz Ansari stand-up special Buried Alive? Keep in mind, this is a six-month Netflix exclusive (which Netflix has gone out of its way to promote heavily compared to other specials). it debuted in November on Netlix, and after a six-month run, Ansari said a $5 download option would become available. Google gives you a site with a list of seventeen links to find it (SolarMovie.so) as well as another option above the Netflix link. Netflix does have an ad spot on this one, which Google showed at the bottom of the page (though I refreshed it and lost it for the screenshot).

It’s not just Netflix content. Google has some questionable results for a lot of TV shows, though it seems to do a little better with HBO content in some cases. “Watch Game of Thrones” and “Watch True Detective” both returned HBO as the top result.

Netflix is the obvious choice for its original shows, but it’s not even the only legitimate option in some cases. You can find episodes of House of Cards on Amazon, for example, yet this did not appear on the first page of results either.

  • ‘Orange is the New Black’ Season 2 Teaser

‘Orange is the New Black’ Season 2 Teaser

Orange is the New Black will be coming back into our lives soon.

Netflix announced that the highly entertaining jail drama will be returning June 6.

Danielle Brooks, who plays inmate Taystee said, “We’re having a blast! I mean, the writing was amazing before and it has gotten even better, I don’t know how they made it happen but it’s really good.”

“I think that people are going to be so excited about season two.”

And if that’s not enough to get you tickled pink-uhhh-I mean orange, check out this awesome teaser for season two.

“It feels like Orange Is the New Black is the start of a movement,” continued Brooks.

Brooks pointed out the great diversity within the characters on the screen and behind the camera.

“To be on a show with so many women and not just on the screen, but also the crew and the writers and the producers, the team mostly is women. When do you see a show with more than one person of color on it? You have six, seven women who are black and Hispanic who are leads. It’s so cool. And Laverne Cox—how amazing is she?”

When we last saw Taystee, she had been released from the prison, only to return after being arrested again.

“I’m going to tease you a little bit about Taystee [in] season two—you’ll get more of me!” Brooks said. “The only thing I can give you is that for me Taystee has shocked me for season two so I think people will be excited to see what she does.”

OITNB’s 13-episode second season will be available to Netflix subscribers on Friday, June 6.

  • Orange Is The New Black Releases Teaser Trailer, Reveals Season 2 Premiere Date

How many people have been going crazy wondering about the second season of Orange Is The New Black, and when it will finally be available to stream?

The show is one of the first to be streamed exclusively for Netflix, and became an instant hit for its unique subject matter, and the strong acting from its large ensemble cast.

The show was nominated for a handful of awards after its first season, and Taylor Schilling, who plays Piper Chapman, received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress In A Drama Series.

Well there is some good news, and some bad news. The good news is that fans of the show are finally aware of when season 2 will be available, but the bad news is that it will not be available until June 6th. The show is created Jenji Kohan, who was also the face behind the popular Showtime drama Weeds.

For those that somehow missed season one of the acclaimed Netflix series, Orange Is The New Black tells the story of a woman whose drug smuggling past catches up with her, and is forced to spend time in a women’s prison.

The show is also a true story, and is based on the memoir Orange Is The New Black: My Year In A Women’s Prison by Piper Kerman.

The show has been celebrated for its outstanding ensemble cast, and includes people such as Jason Biggs, known for hit comedies such as American Pie, and Laura Prepon, known mostly for That 70’s Show. Taylor Schilling plays the main character on the show, and is joined in the prison by a variety of colorful characters, while Natasha Lyonne, a co-star of Biggs’ from American Pie, is also an inmate on the show.

Netflix just announced Orange Is The New Black’s season 2 premiere date along with a teaser trailer that is brief, but filled with everyone’s favorite characters, and will surely get everyone even more excited for season 2.

House Of Cards, the other hit show that premiered on Netflix last season, was finally made available for streaming yesterday. The new episodes had everyone going crazy, and even President Barack Obama shared his excitement for the show, tweeting that he did not want any spoilers.

The political drama follows Frank and Claire Underwood (Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright) in their rise to the top, and the obstacles that they face along the way, including reporter Zoe Barnes (Kate Mara). Frank Underwood plays a congressman from South Carolina, and the success of the show has already officially secured a third season that is in the works for next year.

With the help of shows such as Orange Is The New Black and House Of Cards, Netflix has become a big factor in television awards, and in rankings, just in the past year. In this year’s Golden Globe awards, Netflix was second in nominations to only HBO, and Netflix also has more subscribers in the US than HBO.

Does season 2 of Orange Is the New Black have the ability to top season 1? How many people plan to binge the show when it is released on June 6th? As with other Netflix shows, all 13 episodes of the second season will be available to watch immediately.

  • Laura Prepon Will Be in ‘Most’ Of ‘Orange Is The New Black’ Season 2

There have been a lot rumors about just how much more of Laura Prepon Orange is the New Black fans will see on the show. Apparently it’s not nearly as much of a concern as it was initially made out to be.

The whole thing started last year when BuzzFeed said she was leaving the show, and would be back only to tie up her storyline. Later, they said she’d only be back for a single episode. Later still, they said she’d be back for four episodes.

Now, US Weekly is quoting OITNB creator Jenji Kohan as saying that she’ll be back for “most” of the season.

Her role on the show after that is unclear. What would really be the point in even trying to speculate after all this?

We do know (based on words from Kohan both from the USWeekly report and past interviews) that the show is going to be moving away from focusing so much on the Piper and Alex (Taylor Schilling and Prepon) storyline, so it can spread some of the screen time to the rest of the cast.

In October, Netflix revealed that OITNB was officially its most successful show, and has since said that viewership has spiked in recent months.
