  • Transformers: Age of Extinction Trailers Released Over And Over Again

It’s the movie that keeps releasing trailers left and right. It’s Transformers: Age of Extinction. Yesterday a new trailer appeared on Micheal Bay’s YouTube account with no description besides the title: ‘Judgement’.

Many fans are excited, which is exactly what the studio wants. If they’ve succeeded in showing off what Micheal Bay plans to unveil, then kudos to them. However, we’ll have to wait a few more weeks before we find out if the new Transformers movie is the smash hit the summer is waiting for. But for now, we have this trailer.

And what a trailer it is. As Alex Zalben of MTV put it: “Multiple dinobots? Check. Some sort of robot that can turn into cubes or whatever? Check. Reference to the best “Terminator” movie ever made? Check, and mate.” Zalben’s not alone in his excitement over dinobots. The New York Post included dinobots twice on their list of most anticipated rumors regarding the movie.

Does this new trailer show promise that the fourth live-action Transformers movie will deliver an amazing action-packed movie-going experience? See for yourself:

The movie makers are churning out trailers like crazy to drum up interest in the movie. The day before yesterday’s video was placed on YouTube, another trailer, titled “Destroyer”, churned its ugly head. It seems that the whole movie may show up in trailers before it hits theaters. By the way, the actual date this movie comes out is June 27th in the United States and July 5th in the United Kingdom.

The epic trailers keep rolling in. Last week, another “seriously epic trailer” popped up on the internet. This one was a lot longer than the other two, and went into more detail regarding Mark Wahlberg’s starring role as a mechanic who finds Optimus Prime. At the rate this movie is going, there will be half a dozen more trailers before it comes out.

  • ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’; Seriously Epic Trailer

The action-packed trailer for Michael Bay’s Transformers: Age of Extinction has debuted with an explosion.

The fourth Transformers movie stars Mark Wahlberg playing the character of Cade Yeagar, a mechanic who is struggling to make ends meet. He then stumbles upon a Transformer and finds government agents after him demanding to know the whereabouts of the Autobots’ leader, Optimus Prime.

When ET visited the set of the movie while they were filming, Wahlberg didn’t reveal much about the movie, but his character tinkers with something and everything gets a little crazy. Now that the trailer has been released, it is evident that Wahlberg was referring to tinkering with Optimus Prime.

In 2012, Bay mentioned in an interview with Hero Complex that the fourth Transformers film will be the last for him and that the plan is to leave it in the “best hands possible.”

The trailer features Dinobots, and according to reports, there are also two new Autobots that will be making their debut appearance in the fourth installment. The two remain to be unnamed, but sources say that one is a 1,200-horsepower blue and black Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse and the other is a green C7 Corvette Stingray. Hound, a jeep in the Transformers animated series, will also be making an appearance in the film as a camouflaged tactical vehicle.

Also apparent in the trailer is the upgrade of Optimus Prime’s body from a Peterbilt Model-379 in the last Transformers film, to a custom-built Western Star truck. Another upgrade is Bumblebee, which was changed from a Chevy Camaro to a vintage 1967 Camaro SS that was modified.

Transformers: Age of Extinction also stars Nicola Peltz, Kelsey Grammer, Li Bingbing, Stanley Tucci, Sophia Myles, TJ Miller, and Jack Reynor. The film hits theaters on June 27.

  • Geek Culture Looked At From A Different Angle

    Optimus Prime

Is there anything better than a great triangle? The absurdity of that statement just goes to show you how exciting triangles really are. From the Tri-Force to the Bermuda Triangle, the triangle is shrouded in mystery and mysticism.

Josh Ln knows the pure power of the triangle and he shows his complete mastery of it with these awesome art pieces. Every piece you see here is made exclusively from triangles. He has these 4 but there are a bunch more on his Society 6 page. I did another feature on some of Josh Ln’s artwork last week and he is quickly becoming one of my favorite artists.

All of these prints are for sale as well as a bunch more geeky art.

  • NASA Partners with Optimus Prime For New Video

Not only is NASA going forward on some of the Mars exploration ideas–finding $30 million in the couch has a way of altering plans–they’ve also released some new promotional footage, just in case you thought NASA’s death knell might be upon, thanks to various budget cuts and other poorly-considered government decisions.

While the promotional footage features about what you’d expect from NASA; that is, hope for the future by reminding us where the space program has come from and where its been, what elevates the video from standard “we are awesome” stuff is the inclusion of a specific voice for the narration aspect.

The voice I’m referring to is none other than Optimus Prime of the Transformers, aka, Peter Cullen.

This is clearly a red letter day for NASA, all things considered. First, the newfound money puts Mars exploration back on the table, and now, Optimus Prime is doing kick-ass narration work for them. Considering Prime’s connection to space and exploration thereof, having him as the “voice of NASA” only makes sense, especially when you consider the Autobots’ commitment to protecting the human race.

Silliness aside, using Cullen’s distinctive voice for their new promotional video adds a touch of genius, if only because the geeks will hear it and think, “Optimus Prime is down with NASA,” and that’s a good thing. Granted, NASA’s image wasn’t one that needed a PR facelift, but the aforementioned budget cuts have cast some doubt concerning its future. Well, if Optimus Prime is right, coupled with the $30 million windfall of newly discovered cash, things are indeed looking up for the space exploration program.

Maybe now we can find the Allspark before the Decepticons do. Anything’s possible if Optimus Prime has your back.
