    Fans who loved Christopher Meloni and Mariska Hargitay together will love learning that executive producer Warren Leight was thinking of asking Christopher Meloni to return to SVU for a guest spot.

    “We had been talking [about], had this been the last episode, we would have tried him to bring him back,” Leight said during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “In hindsight, NBC, Dick [Wolf], Universal and Chris all know they could have handled that better,” Leight said. “But I think Chris, over time from what I hear, began to realize that the fans were owed a little more.”

    Even though Law & Order: SVU is coming back for an 18th season, Warren Leight isn’t. He has been replaced by Rick Eid.

    It’s plain to see Mariska Hargitay is right at home holding a little baby. The actress and wife of Peter Hermann–who plays the recurring role of Defense Attorney Trevor Langon on Law & Order: SVU–is mom to three children. She gave birth to August in 2006, and the couple subsequently adopted both Amaya and Andrew in April and October of 2011, respectively.

    Called “A Misunderstanding,” Mariska Hargitay as Olivia Benson taught parents watching the episode that teens aren’t equipped to voice their feelings, and those feelings often become part of an unwanted controversy that can involve the law.

    Wednesday’s episode featured the return of actress Rita Calhoun as Elizabeth Marvel, who serves as the teen girl’s attorney. Even Mariska Hargitay as pro-victim Benson says she isn’t sure there’s a case.

    It’s no surprise that an episode directed by Mariska Hargitay exposes the complexities of rape. The added component of teen angst provides a series of twists and turns that viewers not just watched, but felt, too.

    The “Wildest Dreams” singer posted a picture of her pie on Instagram.

  • Kelli Giddish, “Law & Order: SVU” Star Welcomes Baby With Hubby Lawrence Faulborn

    Kelli Giddish, best known for her role as Detective Amanda Rollins on NBC’s Law & Order: SVU, welcomed a baby along with husband Lawrence Faulborn, on Tuesday.

    It was a fellow Law & Order: SVU cast mate–Ice-T–who shared word of Kelli Giddish becoming a mom.

    Ice-T, who plays the role of Fin Tutuola, posted a photo of his pregnant wife Coco along with Giddish. Coco was holding the new baby.

    Kelli Giddish’s baby is likely a boy, although reports have yet to announce the gender. Given the name “Ludo” and the light blue hat he’s wearing in a photo with his dad, it’s a safe bet the baby is a boy.

    Kelli Giddish and Lawrence Faulborn just tied the knot in June. It was in July when the couple announced they were expecting.

    Kelli Giddish plays opposite Ice-T in Law & Order: SVU. Their characters are on screen partners. Her pregnancy has been written into this season of the show. Two weeks ago, her character admitted to Olivia Benson (played by Mariska Hargitay), who is her superior, that she is pregnant. Kelli Giddish is a single mom on the show. In real life she and Mariska Hargitay are close friends.

    Mariska Hargitay will soon appear on Law & Order SVU for the 17th straight season. While chatting with reporters about her role as Olivia Benson, she also dished about a very different topic–that of singer Taylor Swift.

    As everyone by now knows, Mariska Hargitay appeared in Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” music video. Swift named one of her cats Olivia Benson. The two unlikely stars formed a very real friendship–one that Mariska Hargitay enjoys and deeply respects.

    “I think she is so lovely and so mature and has really inspired me,” Mariska Hargitay said.

    Taylor Swift even invited Mariska Hargitay to join her at the 2015 MTV VMAs–and she accepted.

    “She’s like, ‘Come to the VMAs,’” Hargitay says. “And I’m like, ‘I’m not going to the VMAs. I’m too old to go to the VMAs.’”

    She finally accepted the invitation. Mariska Hargitay got ready with the whole group prior to going on stage with Taylor Swift to accept the Video of the Year award for “Bad Blood.”

    It’s not “Bad Blood” that Hargitay turns to when need an inspiring blast of Taylor Swift music, however. Instead it’s “Shake It Off.”

    “‘Shake it Off’ really touched me deeply, profoundly,” Mariska Hargitay says, noting that she often asks herself why she allows certain things to hurt her feelings. “Then you go, ‘You know what? Shake it off. Move on.’ What a beautiful lesson. I said to her, ‘I’m so grateful for the reminder.’”

    Fans can see Mariska Hargitay in the music video version of Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood,” and they’ll soon see her in her 17th season as Olivia Benson beginning on September 23rd when Law & Order: SVU kicks off its new season with a two-hour premiere.

    Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo is likely hoping she’s next to appear on stage during a Taylor Swift concert. Taylor’s other cat is named–you guessed it–Meredith Grey.

    Even though Mariska Hargitay joked about joining Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’ tour, the mom of three is likely way too busy to do any such thing. Between her family life, her charity work for abused women, and her role on Law & Order: SVU, it seems like her time as a rock star will be limited to special appearances.

    Given the excitement of the crowd in Philly on Friday night, however, Taylor Swift will likely invite Mariska Hargitay back again–and soon, too.

    They met again at an Ingrid Michaelson concert in New York.

    “We both are big fans of Ingrid Michaelson and we were together at an Ingrid Michaelson concert–who’s also a friend of ours,” Hargitay explained. “We met, and she was again, so unbelievably lovely. Of course I didn’t have a ride home, but it was somewhere so far out in Queens. All of a sudden, my husband and I are like, ‘How are we getting home?’ cause there were no cars or anything.”

    “She was like a little angel that goes, ‘Oh, do you guys need a ride?’” Hargitay continued. “I was like, ‘Oh no, why?’ And then she drove us home and that was the end of it… I got the text going, ‘Wanna be in my video?’ I was like, ‘Lemme check my calendar!’”

    Olivia Benson is, of course, the lead detective on Law & Order: SVU. Ellen Pompeo played Meredith Grey on Grey’s Anatomy. The two actors posed for a selfie after running into one another at the Super Bowl on Sunday, and posted it to Mariska Hargitay’s Instagram account.

    NBC advertises both Sophia Bush and Mariska Hargitay’s shows–along with The Mysteries of Laura, starring Debra Messing–as ‘woman crush Wednesdays,’ and it’s easy to see why. Each of the three cop shows features a good-looking, really sharp woman at its helm.

    The Chicago PD star paid the Law & Order: SVU star quite the compliment while they were together in L.A. last week, however. She referred to Mariska Hargitay (Olivia Benson on the show) as a ‘badass.’ She shared the comment as the caption of an Instagram post.

    Sophia Bush is pretty ‘badass’ herself. In her role as Detective Erin Lindsay, she recently transferred from the Chicago Police Department to the FBI. However–and this is a spoiler alert–on Wednesday night’s episode she banged on her father figure, mentor, and former boss Hank Voight’s back door late and night, and asked for her job back.

    Fans didn’t expect–or at least they didn’t hope–that Erin Lindsay would stay away from her old stomping grounds for long.

    “It’ll be our seventh episode on all three shows,” said he says. “Something happens on Chicago Fire. The Chicago PD unit is brought in to investigate. That happens on Tuesday night on Fire. On Wednesday on SVU, (Sergeant Hank) Voight and intelligence go to New York and work with Benson (played by Mariska Hargitay) and everybody on SVU, which then leads them back to Chicago for the last hour on Wednesday night (on PD). Benson and SVU come to Chicago and she and Voight have some great scenes together (on Chicago PD).”

    This is the second year in a row that these shows have done crossover episodes.

This Olivia Benson doesn’t fight crime. She licks herself and coughs up fur balls instead. Yes, this Olivia Benson is Taylor Swift’s cat, and she’s just made her small screen debut.

    The new ad also teases fans who are eagerly awaiting the release of Swift’s new album, 1989. The song playing in the background hints at something akin to ‘Shake It Off,’ telling fans that Taylor has really shaken off her country roots and gone for something far more pop culture with this record.

    “And that’s how it works, how you get the girl, girl,” the lyrics say.

    An MTV reporter reviews the new Diet Coke ad saying, “Swift’s latest Diet Coke ad shows her in her perfect world–a dream made possible by drinking one of their beverages, of course. Her perfect world–along with mine–is swimming in a sea of cuddly felines set to the tune of a song off her new album, out October 27.”

    It fits. Taylor Swift’s ‘perfect world,’ replete with Olivia Benson and a bevy of her feline friends, sets the scene for what one would expect from the (former?) country sweetheart. It will no doubt serve to sell Diet Coke and further hype enthusiasm for Taylor’s upcoming album.

  • Taylor Swift Invites 89 Fans to Her R.I., NYC Homes

    Taylor Swift invited 89 of her fans to her Rhode Island home for a secret concert–or ‘secret listening party’ on Thursday. The number of chosen fans coincides with the title of her new album, ‘1989.’ That’s the year Taylor was born.

    One of those fans shared her experience via Instagram.

    “Well, this is gonna sound really bizarre, but I met THE TAYLOR SWIFT last night!!!” @ToryAmandaRay wrote in her caption that accompanied her photo. “On Thursday, my sister (along with 87 other people) was hand picked & invited by Taylor herself to a “Secret Session” at Taylor’s home in Rhode Island! We were sworn to secrecy; we were only allowed to tell immediate family & we weren’t allowed to post anything on social media.

    We hung out with Taylor, at her house, for 6 hours!! Her home was right on the beach, & absolutely beautiful! We all sat in her living room & she played her new album for us, 1989. She sang along to every song & at the end we all danced to Shake It Off!

    We got to talk to her parents; they took us out on her balcony which had a perfect view of a lighthouse & the ocean!

    There was tons of food, & Taylor even made us homemade cookies! We got goodie bags with tshirts, calendars, & a special key chain made just for us! She was so sweet, & talked to each of us individually & took pix.

    Of course, I couldn’t leave without holding a GRAMMY! It was absolutely amazing! Definitely a day I’ll never forget! It was a once in a lifetime opportunity, & I’m so blessed to have been given it to meet one of my role models, & one of the biggest icons of my generation!”

    E! reports that Taylor Swift did the same thing again on Friday night–this time inviting fans, as well as her dad and her cat, Olivia Benson–to her New York City apartment. The ‘Shake It Off’ singer shared a photo of the fun she had with her fans via Instagram as well.

    “To see my dad photo bombing is to see him at his happiest,” Taylor captioned her photo.

    New York fan John Grande was excited to pose for a picture with Taylor Swift.

    “You can put today down as the greatest day of my life. Taylor Swift personally invited me and many others into her home to play us the whole 1989 album. It was the most amazing thing I have ever heard and she is one of the most amazing people on this earth. Even better, she is wearing my bracelet and listened to my whole life story. Thank you so much Taylor, you always have my heart #1989secretsessions #taylorswift @taylorswift,” he captioned the shot.

    How cool is Taylor Swift? She actually hosted fans in her own homes and shared music from her new album with them. The photos these fans have to commemorate these events will no doubt be shared for a lifetime with anyone who ever mentions the singer to them.

    Olivia Benson has been spotted in various spots around New York City with BFF Taylor Swift. No, it’s not that Olivia Benson–the Law & Order: SVU character played by the beautiful Mariska Hargitay–although this Olivia Benson is fine-looking, too. This Olivia is Taylor Swift’s Scottish Fold kitten, and she’s been lugging the furry feline around town like a trendy accessory.

    Why?

    According to Access Hollywood, it’s fear–not on behalf of Swift, but Olivia Benson instead.

    “The kitten freaks out about being put in the cat carrier,” Taylor Swift explained. “So I was just like, ‘OK, all right, we’re gonna just do this!’”

    “It was like a 10 foot walk from my door to the car!” she added. “What I thought was funny about those pictures is that, like, the cat is looking straight at the cameras!”

    Taylor was talking about a shot captured of her–Olivia Benson in tow–as she headed out in an adorable tartan plaid mini, carrying not just the cat–but a gorgeous and understated leather bag.

    Olivia Benson isn’t Taylor Swift’s only feline friend. In June, when she was adopted, she joined Meredith Grey. Yes, the three-year-old cat is named after Taylor’s favorite Grey’s Anatomy star. If you see a pattern here, it’s because there is one.

    She captioned this Instagram clip, ‘Meredith is in one of her moods.’

    “Strong, complex, independent women,” she said in a recent interview with Rolling Stone about what she named her cats. “That’s the theme.”

    Taylor does worry about being perceived as one of those ‘crazy cat ladies,’ however.

    “I asked around: I was like, ‘Does two cats count as cats?’” she said. “But then I thought, what imaginary guy’s perspective am I thinking about this from? Someone is going to think I’m undateable for a lot of reasons before they think I’m undateable because I have two cats.”

    Might this be the start of a rather strange obsession for the Never Ever Getting Back Together singer? Fans will simply have to wait and see. Meanwhile, if Taylor Swift is spotted strolling down Fifth Avenue with both Olivia Benson and Meredith Grey in tow, someone may need to stage an intervention.

  • Mariska Hargitay On What’s Next For Law & Order: SVU

    Mariska Hargitay has long been a fixture on Law & Order: SVU. The 50-year-old mother of three recently enjoyed a short hiatus from filming the show, but is now ready to get back to work.

    Hargitay revealed a few things to Access Hollywood about what is coming next for the show and its cast members.

    For starters, her character, Olivia Benson, will be trying to figure out single motherhood after she took in a baby at the end of season 15.

    “We need to find a baby daddy for that baby! It’s been very exciting because this season is turning in such a different direction. After last year, it was dark and [like] where do we go from there? So I feel like God dropped a little bundle of joy in my lap,” she said.

    She then added, “I think this year she’s going to be trying to balance motherhood with being acting commander of a squad and constantly under scrutiny and being threatened by a sex-trafficking gang. She has quite a bit to manage.”

    Mariska Hargitay adores the fact that Taylor Swift named her cat after her iconic Law and Order: SVU character, Olivia Benson.

    To promote the 16th season of the hit NBC show, Hargitay sat down with Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Access Hollywood to discuss the upcoming season and Swift’s cat. Hargitay revealed that she first became aware of the cat from Twitter. She jokingly told Bush and Hoover that having a cat named after her character was “big news.” Hargitay mentioned how after finding out about the cat on Twitter, she received a flood of emails from friends and family about it.

    Hargitay used Twitter to express her excitement over the news. She posted a picture of herself wearing a cat collar. Hargitay told Access Hollywood that “if you name your cat after me, you’re gonna get a response, damnit!” She laughed and then said, “I got her a Tiffany collar. She’s getting it in the mail. It’s Tiffany – I spared no expense on this!”


    The Olivia Benson cat is also become quite famous with Swift’s Instagram cat videos. There could possibly be a Hargitay and Olivia Benson the cat acting collaboration soon.

    Tonight Hargitay reprises her role as Olivia for Law and Order: SVU‘s 16th season. After last season’s highly dramatic showdown between Olivia and serial rapist William “the beast” Lewis (Pablo Schreiber), she finally gets some joy back into her life. This time in the form of motherhood. Law and Order: SVU season 15 ended with her adopting baby Noah. A lot of this season will revolve around Olivia’s transition as she becomes a parent. “I think this year she’s going to be trying to balance motherhood with being acting commander of a squad and constantly under scrutiny and being threatened by a sex-trafficking gang. She has quite a bit to manage,” disclosed Hargitay.

  • Mariska Hargitay Talks SVU Character Olivia Benson

    Mariska Hargitay has spent the past 16 years of her life playing the character Detective Olivia Benson on the hugely popular show Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.

    We have watched her character grow throughout the years, and in anticipation of the new season appearing on Wednesday, Hargitay sat down with James Lipton for Inside the Actors Studio to talk about everything from the development of Benson to her former partner Christopher Meloni.

    To prepare for her role, Benson revealed that she shadowed cops, and learned to shoot a gun like a professional. She had to get herself into the mindset of a detective, and that meant doing whatever she had to do, even viewing an autopsy.

    For 12 seasons we saw Hargitay and Meloni develop a relationship that the fans came to love. However, Meloni decided to end his career as Detective Stabler just before season 13. Hargitay said she loved the time she got to spend acting with Meloni and praised him for being such a good actor.

    “I’m so grateful for my time with him,” she said. “I think Chris is incapable of lying. He is a truth-teller; he’s committed to the truth at all costs. I loved his passion and commitment…He made me better and I love him. I loved acting with him and I love him as a person.”

    Season 16 of Law and Order: SVU airs on Wednesday, September 24, and Hargitay says she is excited to find out what is in store for her character. “I love her more now than ever…I love her because I am challenged by her,” Hargitay said. “I never know what’s going to happen. She surprises me. [Warren Leight, showrunner] surprises me. This character has evolved, which is the most exciting part of it. I feel in many ways she’s a new character because she’s gone through so much that has truly transformed her.”
