Josh Brolin has certainly had some trouble throughout his career, and it was recently reported that he is heading to rehab. The 45-year-old actor, and son of James Brolin, has checked into rehab in northern California.

The news of his entering rehab follows an incident in which he allegedly got into a fight in a bar, while drunk. On November 2nd, a Saturday night, he was caught on tape getting in a fight with an unknown man at O’Brien’s Irish Pub in Santa Monica, California.

He was involved in two separate that occurred over the Halloween weekend, and has obviously been going through some troubles in his life.

His acting career has still been active for the most part, and he is the star of the new film Oldboy, directed by Spike Lee, and adapted from the Korean film of the same name. Oldboy is set to be released on November 27 nationwide.

Josh Brolin has been married to Diane Lane for several years, and but in February of this year, the couple announced that they were getting divorced, and have been separated since. However, the divorce has yet to be finalized, and a soruce close to the couple claims that it was a mutual decision.

It is good to see that he is fianlly getting help, and a source close to Brolin told US Weekly that “He realized he needed help and is committed to his sobriety.”

Josh Brolin said days after the incident that he regretted what he did, and planned to quit drinking for good. It has been a problem for him for a long time, and is likely what led to the breakup of his marriage.

Earlier this year, in January, Brolin was arrested for public intoxication, causing him to spend four hours in a jail in Los Angeles. That, and seeveral other difficult situations involving him and Diane Lane, are likely what have led to their plans for a divorce.

After a long history with substance abuse, Josh Brolin has finally decided to get help. He has had quite a rough year, and rehab could be the thing to finally help fixing the ailing Brolin.

  • WATCH: Josh Brolin’s Transformation For Spike Lee’s Oldboy

For his role in Oldboy actor Josh Brolin had to go through a transformation of both mind and body. He was asked to rapidly gain weight, then turnaround and lose it over a weekend. You can view his transformation in a new featurette below:

If you not familiar with Oldboy, it’s the English-language remake of a South Korean cult classic about a druken businessman who is basically kidnapped and held captive for 20 years. Below you will find the official synopsis for the film:

“An advertising executive is kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his punishment, only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment.”

Oldboy was directed by Spike Lee and also stars Elizabeth Olsen, Sharlto Copley, Michael Imperioli, Samuel L. Jackson, Lance Reddick, Rami Malek, James Ransone. The film is slated to hit theatres on November 27, 2013.

  • Oldboy Remake Delayed to November

One decade ago, Korean director Park Chan-wook released his movie adaptation of the Garon Tsuchiya manga Oldboy. The revenge movie was heavily praised and has since become a cult classic.

So, when it was announced that Spike Lee would be directing and American version of Oldboy, fans were skeptical. They still are, due to fears that the story’s mature themes will be toned down for a general American audience. A recently released red band trailer has only added to the confusion by teasing some significant changes to the story.

Now, Exhibitor Relations has changed the release date for Spike Lee’s version of Oldboy from its original October 25 all the way back to November 27.

There is no word from Lee’s production company, 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks, on why the movie’s release was delayed. November 27 is the day before Thanksgiving in the U.S. Oldboy will now be competing against Disney’s Frozen and the Jason Statham/James Franco action movie Homefront. The expected big-hitters of the early holiday season, Ender’s Game, Thor: The Dark World, and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, are all coming earlier in November.

  • Red-Band Trailer For Oldboy Remake Hits

In 2003, Chan-wook Park, the brilliant movie director who hails from South Korea, graced international movie fans with the incredible Oldboy. The movie told a captivating, disturbing tale of imprisonment and revenge, among other things. Aside from that, Oldboy also gave action movie fans one of the best fight scenes ever filmed. I am, of course, talking about the corridor fight scene. It gained appreciation from movie fans because of the famous continuous shot the fight was filmed with:

Anyway, as with many great foreign movies, Oldboy was thrown into the Hollywood remake machine. However, taking a cue from The Departed, which is a remake of the Hong Kong movie Infernal Affairs, those who acquired the rights to Oldboy were at least thoughtful enough to attach a quality director, Spike Lee, and a solid cast that features Josh Brolin, Sharlto Copley (of A-Team and District 9 fame), and Samuel L. Jackson.

It also features an R rating–or, well, it looks like it will when it’s released–which indicates at least some attempt is being made to stick to the decidedly adult storyline.

While fans of the original may still be dubious about this, or any remake, there is some level of solace with the idea of embracing the story instead of dumbing it down. To help further sway fans who may stay away from the remake, a well produced red-band trailer hit the web, and while it hasn’t completely swayed this particular fan, it does look like Spike Lee is doing some interesting things with his version of Oldboy. Take a look for yourself, although, keep in mind the red-band means the trailer isn’t safe for work:

Seeing how the director hasn’t shied away from taking stylistic approaches to his previous movies, I’m incredibly curious to see how he approaches the famed fight scene. Quick shots of the scene are in the trailer, and it’s hard not wonder how Lee is going to present it.

Don’t be surprised if it features a dolly shot somewhere during Josh Brolin’s rampage:

The Oldboy remake is scheduled to hit theaters on October 25. Oh, and in case you missed it, a non-teaser poster was released the other day:
