  • Scottie Pippen Will Not Face Assault Charges

As reported back in June, former NBA player Scottie Pippen was facing possible assault charges stemming from an incident at Malibu celeb hotspot Nobu. The alleged victim claimed that Pippen spit on him, punched him in the mouth, and then kicked him several times while he was on the ground.

Apparently the victim’s injuries did not provide sufficient evidence for the courts, because it was reported today that Pippen will not face charges in the incident. Camran Shafighi, who claimed to have been beaten by Pippen, reportedly feigned seizures and told doctors he had been diagnosed with injuries that were not physically present.

Shafighi reportedly approached Pippen for a photo and autograph while intoxicated and eventually became belligerent with the hall-of-famer. Pippen admitted to spitting at Shafighi, but the alleged assault seems to have been fabricated. It didn’t help his case that he tested positive for opiates and had a blood alcohol level that was twice the legal limit.

Pippen, who was inducted into the NBA hall of fame in 2010, won six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s alongside Michael Jordan. While he had had a run in with the law in the past in the form of a DUI, it appears that this time he is in the right and can now have some peace from the allegations.
