  • Nina Dobrev: Ian Somerhalder the Reason She Quit “Vampire Diaries’?

    Nina Dobrev announced just days ago that she was leaving The Vampire Diaries. At the time she said she wanted Elena Gilbert to have just six seasons on the show, however Hollywood Life claims a source has told them the real reason she’s leaving. It seems that reason is Ian Somerhalder.

    “The reason Nina quit The Vampire Diaries is because she finds it too awkward to be on set with Ian now that they’ve split. She’s known since June that she was going to quit the show and that the 6th season would be her last. Especially when Nikki [Reed] and Ian got engaged in December–that solidified her decision. It’s not about Nina pursuing bigger roles. It’s just because she can’t stand to work on set with Ian every day,” the source explains.

    “I always knew I wanted Elena’s story to be a six season adventure, and within those six years I got the journey of a lifetime,” Dobrev captioned a photo of herself with show runner Julie Plec. “I was a human, a vampire, a doppelganger, a crazy immortal, a doppelganger pretending to be human, a human pretending to be a doppelganger. I got kidnapped, killed, resurrected, tortured, cursed, body-snatched, was dead and undead, and there’s still so much more to come before the season finale in May. Elena fell in love not once, but twice, with two epic soulmates, and I myself made some of the best friends I’ll ever know and built an extended family I will love forever.

    “There’s more to come before we wrap this up, and I promise you’ll get to hear all about my experiences over the next month as we approach the season finale…but until then I invite you to hop on the roller coaster ride that is Elena Gilbert’s life and join me as I celebrate her and prepare to say goodbye to her–and to my work family–as I move on to the next chapter of my life.”

    The source did mention that Nikki Reed was only on the Vampire Diaries set once–and not often as was reported when the two started dating. Nikki Reed apparently never made Nina Dobrev uncomfortable. She simply feels awkward being around Ian Somerhalder instead.

    “Everyone on set is really worried that the show can’t go on without Nina,” the source adds.

    How do you feel about The Vampire Diaries going on sans Nina Dobrev? So many fans believe Nina Dobrev is The Vampire Diaries, and without her things simply won’t be the same.

    It will be interesting to learn how the show fares once Nina is officially gone.

  • Michael Trevino, Nina Dobrev: Both Stars Are Leaving ‘The Vampire Diaries’

    Michael Trevino and Nina Dobrev are both officially leaving The Vampire Diaries. Rumors have swirled for months now about Nina Dobrev’s purported departure, and that is now official. Michael Trevino’s departure, however, has likely taken fans by far more surprise.

    According to a report from E! News, showrunner Julie Plec has confirmed that both actors are leaving the show.

    Michael Trevino has played the role of Tyler Lockwood on The Vampire Diaries since its premiere season.

    “Michael has been a beloved member of the Vampire Diaries family since day one,” she said. “Even though he’s also going to be out in the world exploring new opportunities, we look forward to finding creative ways to make sure he and his character Tyler Lockwood always remain a part of the show.”

    There were subtle hints about both Nina Dobrev and Michael Trevino leaving The Vampire Diaries, in the form of Instagram posts, but the hints were soon taken down, leaving many to think they were jokes. Those hints included captioned photos reading, “in honor of Nina Dobrev and Michael Trevino,” that were taken during a recent lake vacation.

    Nina Dobrev detailed that lake vacation in a goodbye post she shared on Instagram.

    Here’s how she captioned a photo of herself with Julie Plec:

    “Dearest TVD Family,

    I’ve just spent the most beautiful weekend on Lake Lanier in Georgia with my own TVD Family, the cast and crew of The Vampire Diaries. I want to be the first to tell you that it wasn’t just a holiday celebration, it was a goodbye party. I always knew I wanted Elena’s story to be a six season adventure, and within those six years I got the journey of a lifetime.     “Saying goodbye to Nina is both bittersweet and beautiful,” Julie Plec said in a statement. “After six-plus years together, the entire cast and crew of The Vampire Diaries has reached a level of closeness that I don’t think any of us ever expected. Nina is excited to spread her wings, get some rest, travel the world and also take it by storm, and we support her a thousand-fold. We will miss Nina and the four hundred characters she played, but we look forward to the insane and exciting challenge of continuing to tell stories of our Salvatore Brothers and our much-loved and gifted ensemble.”

    Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder weren’t always just Vampire Diaries costars. For quite some time the two were a couple. Now that Ian Somerhalder is engaged to Twilight star Nikki Reed, do you think Nina Dobrev will score an invite to the couple’s wedding?

    Ian and Nikki are reportedly planning to marry in June. If the wedding is a large one, Ian supposedly feels like he should invite Nina Dobrev.

    “It’s a very weird predicament for Ian and Nikki,” a source told Hollywood Life a few weeks ago. “If it is a big wedding Ian feels that he has to ask Nina to go, but anticipates her to respectfully decline. That would be a win win.”

    But what if they do invite Nina Dobrev and she doesn’t decline?

    “They may actually dodge future awkwardness by having a very intimate wedding with just family and then they can make the excuse that they didn’t invite any cast members. One thing for sure is that it is a problem they are definitely trying to figure out,” the source explains.

    A recent report from The Christian Post claims Nina Dobrev has become closer to Ian Somerhalder since he and Nikki Reed became engaged. Could she actually throw a wrench in those wedding plans?

    Nina Dobrev is said to be devastated after learning that her former long-time love, Ian Somerhalder, is engaged to Nikki Reed after dating for only six months.

    Despite years of dating Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder never committed to his Vampire Diaries co-star. But, it sure didn’t take much time for him to decide that Nikki Reed was the woman of his dreams.

    According to a Hollywood Life source, Nina Dobrev is reportedly “devastated” over the news of the engagement, especially since he made the decision so quickly.

    “Nina is devastated over the engagement news. She can’t believe this is all happening so fast. She is completely shocked. She heard the news from mutual friends and can only shake her head in disbelief. She knew Ian and Nikki were into each other but she never thought in a million years they would get married this quickly! It’s a tough pill to swallow,” said the source.

    Nina Dobrev has been dating since her breakup, including Derek Hough and most recently, Vampire Diaries co-star Chris Wood.

    Hollywood Life reported that Nina Dobrev and Chris Wood attended a Golden Globes after party last week and did everything possible to avoid seeing Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed at the party.

    Nikki Reed of Twilight fame is engaged to Ian Somerhalder. She and the Vampire Diaries star have only been dating for about six months.     “She accepted with glee,” a source told Us Weekly of Ian Somerhalder’s proposal to Nikki Reed. “She is madly in love.”

    Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder have lived together in Atlanta since a few weeks after they started dating.

    “Ian bought a vintage diamond eternity band for Nikki,” a source told Us Weekly in December. “It’s not a typical engagement ring but actually a wedding band you purchase for when you get married.”

  • Nina Dobrev Birthday Surprise: A Superhero Film?

    Nina Dobrev has been vacationing in New Zealand lately. She has been posting pics to Instagram of the gorgeous countryside. But Dobrev took time out to grab an award with ex-beau Ian Somerhalder.

    The once-couple are still considered a hot item due to their screen time together in The Vampire Diaries. Dobrev and Somerhalder went up against some stiff competition at the People’s Choice Awards for Favorite TV Duo on Wednesday. They were chosen over Supernatural‘s Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles as well as Castle‘s Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic.

    Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder have been personally split since mid-2013. In fact, both are now either confirmed or rumored to be with other people. Somerhalder is with Nikki Reed, and Dobrev may be dating Mark Foster.

    But Dobrev is also rumored to be looking at life after Vampire Diaries. One insider reports that she is hoping to launch a film franchise that is either in the ever-popular YA (Young Adult) category or perhaps even a superhero role.

    The idea is that Dobrev will get a role that would get her high visibility in a blockbuster series of films, allowing her to use that as a launching pad for further film work in meatier roles.

    This is the same formula that worked so well for Jennifer Lawrence, who used the YA fave The Hunger Games and the X-Men superhero film series to parlay into roles in America Hustle and Silver Linings Playbook.

    Dobrev is only 25 years old, but she turns 26 on Friday. If the insider info is right, she hopes to get her film career off and running now. She has been in several films already, of course. The most famous of these was The Perks of Being a Wallflower. But a YA franchise or superhero series would certainly go a long way toward putting Dobrev into the kind of spotlight that Lawrence enjoys.

    Twilight star Nikki Reed is officially divorced from Paul McDonald, her husband of more than three years. The actress reportedly lives with The Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder already. The two have reportedly been dating for quite some time now, causing a stir on set since Somerhalder was previously in a long term relationship with his costar Nina Dobrev.

    Reed wound up with a lot from her marriage to the former American Idol star. She got to keep two homes, three cars, and the couple’s dog, Enzo. Paul McDonald got to keep the couple’s Nashville home. Neither will receive any spousal support from the other.

    Nikki Reed and Paul McDonald announced their split back in March.

    “After much consideration, Nikki Reed and Paul McDonald are ending their marriage. They have been living separately for the past six months due to work obligations…They remain best friends and look forward to their continued journey together,” their statement read.

    Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed spent Christmas together with family members and close friends in Sun Valley, Idaho. He reportedly gushed over a new song she recorded recently, too.     Nina Dobrev, of course, dated costar Ian Somerhalder for quite some time, and things didn’t turn out so well for them. Now that he is dating Nikki Reed, issues have flared yet again, with Nina Dobrev complaining about their PDA while on set.

    It seems even more likely that issues would arise from a hooking up situation than a relationship situation–don’t you think? At least when a relationship ends there is often a bit of dignity that remains. Can the same be said for simply hooking up?

    According to Hollywood Life, Dobrev, 25, and Wood, who plays Kai on VD, have reportedly been dating, although it’s not serious at this point.

    “They are great friends who have hooked up on the recent times they have been out together but they are not currently looking to start a relationship. They are both very cool about it and it has not ruined working with each other or caused any issues,” a source told the magazine.

    Fans seem to be thrilled that Dobrev has found someone to hang out with, especially following the break-up with another co-star, Ian Somerhalder, after a three-year relationship. They have taken to Twitter to share their excitement, dubbing the new couple “WoodBrev.”

    One has to worry if this new development between Dobrev and Wood, 26, is causing even more tension on the set. There have already been reports that Dobrev has been upset whenever Somerhalder’s new love, Nikki Reed, shows up on set, which has led to feuding between the former couple.

    Things got downright nasty once Somerhalder moved Nikki Reed down to Atlanta, Georgia, with him where The Vampire Diaries is filmed.

    Dobrev, in turn, started dating Ian Somerhalder’s good friend Mark Foster of Foster the People fame.

    Kate Hudson reportedly called off her engagement with Muse frontman Matt Bellamy, the father of her son Bing. Now rumors are running rampant, claiming she is dating Derek Hough.

    Us Weekly reports that the Dancing With the Stars pro was spotted eating dinner and enjoying drinks with Kate Hudson just this past weekend at the Nice Guy Restaurant in Los Angeles. A source told them the two stayed way past closing time.

    Of course it’s possible that the two are simply good friends. After all, they’ve known each other for about three years. Derek Hough even gave Kate Hudson dancing lessons a while back.

    “My heart is really in contemporary jazz, but lately I’ve been ballroom dancing with Derek Hough,” she said during an interview back in 2013.

    It was last month when the two attended Goldie Hawn’s “Love In For Kids” benefit together, where they were photographed while deeply engaged in conversation. They two also posed for pictures together, with Kate Hudson showing off her sexy arms in a sleeveless white dress and Derek Hough looking very handsome in a dark suit.

    Kate Hudson isn’t the only person that Derek Hough is rumored to have dated, however. He has been said to have dated Nina Dobrev, Nikki Reed, and Lauren Conrad in the past.

    News of Kate Hudson and Matt Bellamy’s split hit the media on Monday. His rep confirmed that the two have been separated “for some time now,” after spending more than four years together. The two became engaged back in April 2011, just three months before Kate gave birth to their son.

    “They remain very close friends and committed co-parents,” Bellamy’s rep said during an interview with ET.

    Nina Dobrev is very excited about a huge investment she recently made. The Vampire Diaries star just bought a home in Los Angeles, and she can’t wait to host both family members and friends there. On the heels of her Thanksgiving vacation–she was thrilled to visit family, because she seldom gets home to Canada–she gushed about her recent purchase.

    “One of my favorite things to do is host a girls night where my girlfriends and I can get together and come together in the kitchen, test out new recipes and just enjoy each others company,” she said. “I also love throwing a good game night with running charades and all! I’m especially excited to host these dinner and game nights once I’ve finished decorating my home, and after attending the new Restoration Hardware RH Atlanta Gallery store opening I have so many ideas.”

    Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder’s relationship has been over for more than a year now, and the former lovebirds seem to be doing a pretty good job so far at keeping personal issues from affecting their professional careers.

    Namely, their immensely popular show, The Vampire Diaries.

    Things seemed to become a little strained when Ian Somerhalder began dating Nina Dobrev’s friend, Nikki Reed.

    The two have dated for quite a while now and the tension looked like it was abating.

    However, Somerhalder allegedly moved Nikki Reed down to Atlanta, Georgia, with him where he and Nina Dobrev film The Vampire Diaries, and has been bringing her on set regularly.

    Now, it’s Nina Dobrev’s turn to give Ian a bit of his own medicine. Nina is reportedly dating Ian Somerhalder’s friend Mark Foster of Foster the People fame. I guess he will know how it feels to see your ex parading around with your friend.

    Some fans of the show think that Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder have had enough time to put down the gloves, be mature, and move on with their lives. And hopefully not effect the show.

    But, some fans of The Vampire Diaries are worried that tensions, which have reportedly been building thanks to Somerhalder’s and Nikki Reed’s very public displays of love for one another, will reach a fever pitch with news of Nina Dobrev’s new boyfriend and put the show in jeopardy.

    Actress and musician Nikki Reed demonstrated a new song on her Instagram page, and beau Ian Somerhalder followed suit.

    A snippet of the track, entitled “Fly With You,” displays standard pop fare, though Somerhalder made quite an effort to exhibit his pride in Reed’s work. The Vampire Diaries actor took to Instagram and wrote:

    Wow! I can’t wait for you guys to hear this song in its entirety! I love how diverse you are as a human being and and artist… @iamnikkireed you have truly created something beautiful, original and unabashedly provocative. I love this song, and I love the message behind everything you do (a percentage of the song goes to help #SavetheWildlifeWaystation which is an animal sanctuary she has worked with for years) so let’s all come together to on NOVEMBER 20th a get this tune.     Twilight franchise actress Reed unironically began dating The Vampire Diaries star Somerhalder back in July. Aside from a mutually deep understanding of vampiric acting technique, Reed and Somerhalder have run in the same circles. Somerhalder dated Reed’s Twilight costar Ashley Greene in 2009, and Reed is close friends with Somerhalder’s The Vampire Diaries costar and ex Nina Dobrev. Both Dobrev and Reed dated Dancing With the Stars’ Derek Hough, who was Reed’s first fling after divorcing American Idol alum Paul McDonald, after two years of marriage.

    Nicole Houston “Nikki” Reed, 26, began her career co-writing and starring in Catherine Hardwicke’s 2003 drama Thirteen. The script was written in six days, and was a semi-autobiographical take on Reed’s life.     Nina Dobrev admitted recently that she is a ‘snaughler.’ Okay. But what the heck is a snaughler? It isn’t found in the dictionary. It doesn’t seem like one of those new, hip words that emerge every year or so.

    The Vampire Diaries star claims she is among a certain breed of people who snort and laugh every time they find something to be funny. Apparently ‘to snaughle’ is to do exactly that–snort and laugh when something is funny. Those who do so are from this point forward referred to as ‘snaughlers.’

    Nina apparently enjoyed lots of laughs at a Halloween party in Beverly Hills–at the home of Mike Meldman–on Friday night.     Something Nina hasn’t been laughing about recently is the relationship between her ex-boyfriend Ian Somerhalder and his new girlfriend Nikki Reed. In fact at one point, Nina even said she wanted Nikki banned from the Vampire Diaries set because her presence was making her uncomfortable. Producers were ready to oblige. Recently, however, Nina has reportedly spent lots of time talking with BFF Jessica Szohr, who also went through a similar split. Szohr dated her Gossip Girl costar Ed Westwick for more than two years. She understands perfectly what Nina Dobrev is going through.

    “It’s really great for Nina to have someone to talk to that can understand what she’s going through with Ian. Jessica had to work with Ed when they were broken up so she totally gets all the weird feelings that go with it,” a source told Hollywood Life. “She’s friends with Nikki too so she’s trying not to take sides. She’s working on getting them to talk things out and make up but she’s not pushing; she’s definitely on Team Nina if it came down to that.”

    Do you suppose that one day Nina Dobrev will ‘snaughle’ over the whole ordeal with Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed? Probably not. But hopefully she will at least be able to look back on the situation with far less animosity.

  • Amanda Seyfried Joins Nina Dobrev in Marathon Stage Play, ‘The 24 Hour Plays on Broadway’

    Amanda Seyfried and Nina Dobrev are among the actors who have signed up for a marathon stage play that takes place in 24 hours and raises money for Urban Arts Partnership, which supports arts education in New York City’s public schools.

    Seyfried will take part in the 14th annual performance of The 24 Hour Plays on Broadway benefit Nov. 17. The event, touted as an “extreme rite of theater,” has actors, writers and directors writing, directing and performing six original short plays in a 24-hour period.

    Quite the undertaking, the marathon begins at 10 p.m. Nov. 16 when six writers, six directors, 24 actors, two musical guests and a production staff gather at New York City’s American Airlines Theatre. After each of the actors share a costume, prop and special skill, their assigned writer must create a ten-minute play by 7 a.m. the following morning. Directors return to read and select their piece and meet with their cast for the first time by 9 a.m. The final pieces will be performed at 8 p.m., interspersed with six musical acts.

    Actors joining Seyfried and Dobrev are Sasha Alexander, Uzo Aduba, Jamie Chung, Billy Crudup, Peter Dinklage, Rachel Dratch, Michael Ealy, Seth Green, Bryan Greenberg, Melanie Griffith, Taran Killam, Zoe Kravitz, Justin Long, Aasif Mandvi, Stephen Merchant, Diane Neal, Rosie Perez, Jay Pharoah, Pablo Schreiber, Sebastian Stan, Julia Stiles, Tracie Thoms and Michael Kenneth Williams.

    Directors include America Ferrera, Andy Fickman, and Kathy Najimy. Writers include Christina Anderson, Bekah Brunstetter, David Cross, David Lindsay Abaire and Jonathan Marc Sherman. Musical Guests include Andra Day and Bryan Terrell Clark, and the DJ will be Samantha Ronson. Also writing one of the plays is Sarwat Siddiqui, the winner of the Young Writers Program, who will be mentored by playwright Christina Anderson.

    Seyfried is currently filming Seth MacFarlane’s Ted 2, the follow-up to MacFarlane’s 2012 raunchy comedy about a foul-mouthed Teddy bear.

    Her first big break came in 2004, with the movie Mean Girls. The multi-talented actress and singer went on to star in HBO’s acclaimed polygamy series Big Love and then starred in the blockbuster movie musical Mamma Mia!

    Other movie credits include Dear John, Letters to Juliet, Gone, Red Riding Hood, and Les Miserables.

    She is also slated to play Mary, the mother to Wendy Darling and her brothers, in the new Peter Pan film adaptation, Pan.

    Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder are adoptive parents as of last week–to a kitten. The Twilight actress and the Vampire Diaries actor are excited about their ‘fur baby.’ Ian Somerhalder is, of course, a big animal rights advocate. He created the Ian Somerhalder Foundation for exactly that purpose.

    “By coming from a place of compassion, we’re coerced into considering who and what is affected outside of ourselves from a fresh perspective,” he said when asked about his compassion for animals. “A component as simple as compassion has the gravity to enliven wide-scale change for both people and animals.”

    Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder recently made news regarding his ex, Nina Dobrev. Supposedly Nina was very uncomfortable when Nikki Reed came on to the Vampire Diaries set to visit Ian. In fact, Hollywood Life reports that Nikki was banned from visiting Ian on set because of it. It seems producers fear Nina Dobrev will quit Vampire Diaries if Nikki Reed continues to visit Ian Somerhalder there.

    “Ian and Nikki’s relationship is causing a lot of drama, to the point where the producers have asked Ian not to bring Nikki to set when Nina is there because they are very worried about losing her. They worry that the show would fall apart without her,” a source says.

    Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder’s breakup fallout has reportedly led to Somerhalder’s new girlfriend, Nikki Reed, being banned from the Vampire Diaries set.

    Breakups are never pretty, but the Dobrev-Somerhalder breakup could affect the future of the popular series.

    Hollywood Life reports that producers are worried that Dobrev may leave The Vampire Diaries after Season 6, alleging Dobrev is having trouble dealing with the on-set PDA between her ex and Reed.

    Dobrev is allegedly more than a little annoyed by Reed’s presence on set while she’s trying to work. Fans seem to totally relate to Dobrev’s distress at having her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend there while filming emotional scenes.

    “Ian and Nikki’s relationship is causing a lot of drama, to the point where the producers have asked Ian not to bring Nikki to set when Nina is there because they are very worried about losing her. They worry that the show would fall apart without her,” a source told Hollywood Life.

    Sources also say producers are bending over backward to keep Dobrev happy on set, because they’re afraid she’ll give up and call it quits after season 6.

    “It’s unlikely that Nina would try to get out of her contract in the middle of this season, but it’s something producers are worried about. It would be very costly for Nina to get out of her contract now, but things like that have happened before, so everyone’s walking on eggshells with her. Not to mention the fact that Nina hasn’t signed anything for anything beyond season six,” a source told the website.

    Apparently, Somerhalder is so taken with Reed that he is completely blind to how much his new relationship is hurting Dobrev.

    Naturally, the producers — who tried to keep Dobrev and Somerhalder from dating in the first place — are now said to be upset by the entire situation, thinking that it could cause irreparable harm for the future of The Vampire Diaries if Dobrev walks out.

    “This is exactly why producers actually tried to forbid Nina and Ian from dating,” said the source. “They were worried something like this would happen. Ian and Nina tried to hide their relationship for so long because they were very strictly forbidden from that, but obviously they did go there. Exactly what they promised wouldn’t happen, has happened, and it’s getting in the way of their work.”

  • Nina Dobrev Excited About “Originals” Appearance

    Nina Dobrev is set to appear as Tatia on the Vampire Diaries spinoff, The Originals.

    The episode that Nina Dobrev will be in highlights the lives of Klaus and Elijah Mikaelson and just what happened with Tatia.

    “It’s pretty grim. I don’t want to spoil too much, but it’s definitely revealing of the brothers and what happened back then,” said Joseph Morgan.

    Producer Michael Narducci revealed that the episode flashes back to “the time of the Vikings,” a period which he says Joseph Morgan believes is the one that must be revisited if you are to fully understand where Klaus and Elijah originated.

    Narducci said, “It was when they’d just become vampires and Klaus’ curse was placed upon him by his mother.”

    Nina Dobrev isn’t saying whether or not there will be any steamy action on the episode, but the hints are there….

    “I’ve even kissed Steven [R. McQueen], unfortunately,” she says of her characters’ numerous amorous scenes. “Well, it wasn’t a kiss, but I had to do mouth-to-mouth with Jeremy as Katherine. I remember reading that episode and being like, ‘Really?’”

    “[Executive producer] Julie Plec pitched the story, which was actually cool and made a lot of sense, so that got me excited,” Nina Dobrev said.

    She continued, “As much as I joke and say that playing a lot of characters is crazy — which it is — it’s also fun to create new people. It helps keep things fresh after six years, you know?”

    Keeping it fresh isn’t the only thing Nina Dobrev has to be worried about. Apparently, on Thursday Dobrev became the latest victim of the seemingly neverending series of photo leaks classlessly dubbed “the fappening”.

    Luckily, Nina Dobrev’s photos weren’t of a graphic nature. Perhaps she got wise and deleted the racy ones after the first few rounds of leaks.

  • Nina Dobrev, ‘Originals’ Executive Producer Michael Narducci Talk New Season

    Nina Dobrev has portrayed three different roles on Vampire Diaries – Elena, Katherine and Amara.

    Now she’s reportedly headed to the show’s spin-off, The Originals, to play yet another character – Tatia.

    The character, which was first mentioned during the third season of Vampire Diaries, will be featured on the second season of the CW series.

    According to Entertainment Weekly, Originals executive producer Michael Narducci recently shared some interesting details about the highly anticipated new season.

    He revealed Dobrev’s character will appear in the fifth episode this season. The episode will revisit the time of the Vikings.

    “Nina Dobrev got to be in scenes with both of our leads, both Daniel [Gillies] and Joseph [Morgan],” Narducci said.

    “We tell a story that will make you understand her fate, what happened to her, her relationship with both brothers and why what happened between her and the two brothers is so beautiful but also tragic.”

    Dobrev also weighed in with some details about Tatia. She explained how the character differs from the three doppelgangers she portrayed on Vampire Diaries.

    “I feel like she’s the purest of them all because she is the original original doppelganger,” Dobrev insisted. “She doesn’t have anyone that proceeded her that affects her life and that she has to live up to or whose history will haunt her in the future, so she has no preconceived notions,” she said.

    “She doesn’t have all the vampire drama before her existence, so she’s just pure love and hope and innocence in a way … until things get complicated, as they always do,” she explained.

    So, will any other characters be leaving Mystic Falls, VA to visit New Orleans, or vice versa? Narducci revealed there’s a slim chance of that happening, but it’s not totally impossible.

    “It doesn’t feel like there’s an easy way to make people drop what they’re doing in Mystic Falls and come to New Orleans,” he said.

    “And certainly, once our storylines get rolling, it’s going to be very obvious that it will to be very impossible for our characters to take a vacation and go to Mystic Falls, but we are always looking, if it makes sense for story, to honor the fact that this is a shared universe.”

    The Originals airs on Mondays at 8 p.m. on The CW!

  • Nina Dobrev: From Vampire Diaries to The Originals

    Nina Dobrev is reportedly crossing over from The Vampire Diaries to The Originals. Fans have long suspected a crossover was in the works, and now they know at least some of the details.

    Entertainment Weekly has in fact confirmed that Nina Dobrev will join the second season of The Originals for the first time during their fifth episode–as Tatia. She will appear during a flashback in the November 3rd airing of the show. Fans should recognize that name from The Vampire Diaries’ third season. It was then that the Mikaelson brothers and the Salvatore brothers were brought together.

    EW explains, “Klaus and Elijah explained the “allure” of the Petrova doppelganger by taking things back to the original doppelganger–Tatia. Not only were both Klaus and Elijah in love with Tatia, but it was Esther who later killed Tatia, in order to use her blood for the spell that would stop Klaus from becoming a hybrid.”

    E! did a recent interview with showrunner Julie Plec, who also confirmed Nina Dobrev’s crossover from The Vampire Diaries to The Originals.

    “There’s a lot of people that could cross over, and when we plan our crossovers, we like to think of the most clever way to integrate The Vampire Diaries mythology into The Originals mythology,” Plec told them. “There was a character’s name introduced a long time ago in season three in association with Klaus [Joseph Morgan] and Elijah [Daniel Gillies] and how they became vampires and a girl that they both loved a long time ago who was the original doppelgänger, Tatia. So Nina Dobrev will be visiting The Originals for a nice little storyline in our fifth episode which airs November 3.”

    Why now for Tatia–three seasons after her name was introduced? Plec answers that question, too.

    “We made a rule at the very beginning, like, ‘Let’s not be number whores or number grabbers,’” she says. “We don’t want to be doing crossovers for the sake of, ‘Look at us!’ You know? But in this particular case, the character of Tatia is part of their history and is kind of a dangling chad. It’s something we brought up a long time ago and never paid off.”

    Rumor has it that things are tough behind the scenes at The Vampire Diaries for Nina Dobrev since her split from Ian Somerhalder. Since Ian started dating Nikki Reed, those tensions have reportedly climbed even higher. This move to The Originals might be just what everyone needs.

    Nina Dobrev and Vampire Diaries co-star Ian Somerhalder had a rough breakup and while a lot of the drama unraveled on social networks, things are just as bad behind the scenes of the show.

    Ian has a new girlfriend, Nikki Reed, who starred in the Twilight movies, and the two seem to always be together, especially on the Vampire Diaries set.

    Ian’s new relationship is getting to Nina, and there are rumors that she may be quitting the show to get away from Ian and all of the drama he seems to bring to her life.

    A source close to Nina told the IB Times that there is more than one reason for Nina to consider quitting the show.

    “For one, she simply doesn’t want to deal with her ex-boyfriend anymore, especially not when he keeps flaunting his new relationship in her face.

    “And for another, she actually has a shot at developing a legit movie career, something that Ian already tried and failed,” the source said.

    Nina isn’t the only one who has had enough of Ian and Nikki’s relationship, many of Ian’s fans are not happy about it either.

    They have expressed their distaste for Niki on both hers and Ian’s social networks pages. The comments and opinions must have been getting to Ian, because he finally posted a response to them on Instagram.

    “You HATE NIKKI REED? Really Do you know her? Hmmmm, I’m not sure that you do,” Somerhalder wrote. “Look on her Instagram feed or twitter and all you will see is a compassionate and beautiful human being.”

    “Do you care about me? Ask yourself that question. What’s the answer? Is it yes?” he asked. “If if is –then please be happy for me. Stop this nonsense — you’re spreading horrible energy into the world. Do some research on the person you say sucks or you HATE. You’ll find that she’s a magical person doing great things in the world.”

    “I’m sickened and saddened by the fans’ response to all this,” he continued. “If we all thought a little or [learned] a little about people before we spoke about them, the world wouldn’t be so upside down and in the worst place in history. If you hate Nikki then you must hate me… That’s sad. Have an amazing day!”

    He later removed the post.

    Other rumors suggest that Ian himself may be leaving the show after the end of this season.
