  • Nicole Brown Simpson As Remembered By Her Friend Kris Jenner

Nicole Simpson Brown continues to haunt the thoughts of her friend Kris Jenner more than 20 years after her brutal murder.

In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres on Monday, Kris Jenner said she’ll “always feel horrible that I didn’t pay enough attention” before Nicole met her untimely death.

Jenner, who was close friends with both Nicole and O.J. Simpson, revealed new details about what happened in her world after Brown’s death.

Jenner was famously married to Robert Kardashian Sr. who was one of O.J.’s closest friends and became one of the accused killer’s legal dream team.

The relationship between the four friends is chronicled in the FX miniseries American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson, which tells the story surrounding the “trial of the century” from the lawyers point of view.

Jenner, 60, told DeGeneres that the portrayal of tension between Kris and Robert over his commitment to defend O.J. on the series is accurate.

“It was very difficult because my ex-husband was on one side and I was kind of on the other, and the kids were in the middle,” said Jenner.

Kris said she’d actually made plans with Brown to go on a lunch date the day after her death and believes that Nicole Brown had plans to reveal to her that Simpson was abusing her.

“I didn’t know that there was abuse until we heard and saw the whole thing unfold like everyone else, and then heard the 911 tapes…which were going to be used as evidence during the trial,” Jenner said. “Me and some of her other close friends all were really surprised and shocked by that, because we felt like we really failed her as a friend.

“She and I were supposed to have lunch the next day-the day after she was murdered-and she said she wanted to show me some things and talk about what was in her safe,” Jenner continued.

“Now, unfortunately, it all makes sense that that’s probably what she wanted to reveal to me that next day, which broke my heart because I’ll always feel horrible that I didn’t pay enough attention.”

Kris Jenner, 60, said she had known Simpson since she was 17 and considered him to be “like a big brother” to her.

According to Kris, Simpson attempted to contact her after Brown’s death but the reality star did not give specifics on any conversation they may have had.

“[He called me] right after, yeah,” Jenner said. “He called me a few times, and you know, wanted to talk and explain how he felt.”

American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson airs 10 p.m. EST Tuesdays on FX.

  • Christopher Darden, O.J. Simpson Prosecutor, Says He Is Now ‘Pissed Off’ Over the Outcome of the Trial

Christopher Darden, the prosecutor in the 1995 historic O.J. Simpson trial that has been dubbed the “trial of the century,” says he is “pissed off” at the outcome of the proceedings that set the football player accused of killing ex-wife Nicole Simpson-Brown free.

The trial was watched around the world and became the first completely televised court proceeding. At the center of the media circus was Darden and lead prosecutor Marcia Clark. The two of them, as well as some key witnesses for the state, faced incredible scrutiny, criticism and outright ridicule for the handling of the trial.

Twenty years later, Darden leads a life away from the blaring lights and criticism.

“Sometimes I get recognized as the O.J. Simpson prosecutor,” he told Oprah: Where Are They Now? “People say, ‘Oh, that’s Darden. Oh, he’s put on weight in 20 years!’”

Darden, 58, said the backlash was, at times, more than he could take.

“I was devastated and decimated by the trial,” he said.

Darden said as the years wore on, depression has been replaced with anger.

“I don’t think I’m so much as bitter. Now, I think I’m angry,” he says. “I mean, I couldn’t be angry back then. I couldn’t be pissed off, because I’m a prosecutor. But now, I’m just Chris Darden. Now I can just be pissed off.”

While Darden still practices law, he has switched sides in criminal court proceedings.

“I’m a criminal law defense attorney,” he says. “And I write a little bit here and there.”

A father of three with his wife of 17 years, Marcia, Darden said he wouldn’t encourage his kids to pursue law, but wouldn’t be surprised if they did.

“I have the smartest family anyone could have,” he says proudly. “My children are brilliant children. I don’t think that any of them should pursue criminal law,” Darden says. “But I could certainly see them becoming lawyers.”

  • David Schwimmer to Play O.J. Simpson’s Attorney Robert Kardashian Sr. Alongside Cuba Gooding Jr. as O.J. in Miniseries

David Schwimmer is set to play Kris Jenner’s late ex-husband and O.J. Simpson’s attorney Robert Kardashian Sr., alongside Cuba Gooding Jr. as O.J. Simpson, in the upcoming miniseries American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson.

The 10-episode series, directed by Ryan Murphy and starring American Horror Story‘s Sarah Paulson as prosecutor Marcia Clark, will document Simpson’s 1995 murder trial in the death of his wife Nicole Simpson Brown.

According to an FX press release, “the miniseries takes a look at the O.J. Simpson trial told from the perspective of the lawyers that explores the chaotic behind-the-scenes dealings and maneuvering on both sides of the court.” In addition, it will examine how “a combination of prosecution confidence, defense wiliness, and the LAPD’s history with the city’s African-American community gave a jury what it needed: reasonable doubt.”

Written by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, the miniseries is based on Jeffrey Toobin’s book, The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson.

American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson is the first in a new anthology miniseries focusing on famous crime cases.

Simpson is currently serving nine to 33 years in prison after he was convicted on multiple felony charges, including armed robbery and kidnapping, for leading a group of men in an armed confrontation with two sports memorabilia dealers in a Las Vegas hotel in 2007.

Kardashian Sr., father of Kourtney, Kim, Khloe and son Rob Kardashian, died at the age of 59 in September 2003 from esophageal cancer. He and Jenner divorced in 1991 after 13 years of marriage.
