  • Gisele Bundchen And Tom Brady Get A Puppy To Distract Themselves From Deflategate

There’s nothing that a few kisses from a puppy won’t fix. Gisele Bunchen clearly knows that as she posted a photo of her family’s newest member on Instagram.

The adorable pic shows Bunchen’s husband, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, receiving kisses from a Beagle the couple named Scooby.

The newest addition to the Brady bunch is shown with its paws on the athlete’s shirt with the caption “our newest family member Scooby (heart emoji).”

Scooby appears to be a good fit for the couple who already has two children, 5-year-old Ben and 2-year-old Vivian, as well as a fur baby named Lua.

The Pitbull mix is a star on its own right, as Lua occasionally makes an appearance on Bundchen’s Instagram account and has even starred opposite Brady in a commercial for UGG Australia.

Getting a new puppy can be the leggy model’s way of altruistically expanding her family or a way of getting her embattled husband’s mind away from his Deflategate suspension. It can also be a clever way of swaying public opinion on the issue.

Brady is currently on a four game suspension for his alleged role in – or awareness of – the Deflategate scandal.

If you recall, accusations have been thrown against the New England Patriots for deflating the balls they used during the game.

And underinflated ball is believed to be easier to catch, throw and grip, thereby giving the Patriots an alleged advantage over their opponent, the Indiana Colts.

While Brady has denied any involvement, results of the investigation over the issue found that the 37-year-old quarterback was “generally aware” that the Patriots’ equipment managers had tinkered with the footballs used in the game.

Brady is currently appealing his suspension and has also been getting a lot of support from Patriots fans who conducted a “Free Tom Brady” rally at the Gillette Stadium.

  • Adrian Peterson Appeals NFL Suspension

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is in New York this week to appeal his NFL suspension. According to an ABC News report, Peterson believes assurances he received from NFL executives stating that his suspension would be short could convince the NFL to alter the suspension.

On November 18 the NFL announced that Peterson had been suspended without pay for at least the rest of the 2014 season. The suspension stems from child abuse charges that were filed against Peterson earlier this year.

On September 12 Peterson was indicted on charges of reckless or negligent injury to a child. In early November the NFL star settled the charges by pleading no contest to one charge of misdemeanor reckless assault. Peterson had expected the plea deal to resolve his professional difficulties but is now facing an indefinite suspension.

Shortly after he was indicted Peterson released a statement making it clear that, as advised by his lawyers, he will not be discussing the case publicly. Peterson did state, however, that he “never intended” to injure his son and that he was practicing a form of discipline that was used on himself as a child. From the statement:

I have learned a lot and have had to reevaluate how I discipline my son going forward. But deep in my heart I have always believed I could have been one of those kids that was lost in the streets without the discipline instilled in me by my parents and other relatives. I have always believed that the way my parents disciplined me has a great deal to do with the success I have enjoyed as a man. I love my son and I will continue to become a better parent and learn from any mistakes I ever make.

The ordeal has put Peterson’s professional football career in jeopardy and has caused other difficulties for the athlete. Like fellow NFL star Ray Rice, Peterson has lost his Nike sponsorship deal.

Peterson’s suspension marks yet another scandal for the star running back. On October 11, 2013 Peterson’s son, whom he had never met, was beaten and later died. More recently Peterson has been accused of misusing charity funds.

  • Brandon Browner, Of The Seattle Seahawks, Receives One Year Suspension

Another NFL star has been slammed with a suspension. Brandon Browner, a defensive player for the Seattle Seahawks, will serve a one year suspension from the team, due to his violation of the team’s substance abuse policy.

Brandon Browner is a cornerback for the Seahawks, and due to his breaking of the rules that are set by the NFL, as well as the team, he will be forced to serve a lengthy suspension.

It is likely that he will be dropped from the time after the news is confirmed, since this will be his second suspension for violation of the league’s substance abuse policy. He was using performance enhancing drugs last season, which caused him to miss the final four games, but this time, it was reported that he has been using marijuana.

Before the announcement of his second violation, Browner had already been placed on the injured reserve list. It was already questionable whether he would be able to return this season, and now that he has violated the substance abuse policy, it is official that fans will not be able to see him return to the field any time soon.

He will also become a free agent as of March, and it was likely that that the Seahawks would not be re-signing him anyway, based on speculation that had been going around the league. It seems almost certain at this point that the Seahawks will move on without Browner, a player that came to Seattle in 2011, and was named to the 2011 Pro Bowl.

In addition to Brandon Browner, another cornerback for the Seahwawks, Walter Thurmond, was suspended for four games, which was also due to marijuana usage.

Following the second violation by Brandon Browner, this marks the sixth Seahawks player to be suspended for a drug violation since 2011.

Bradon Browner has violated the league’s substance abuse policy for a second time, and this time it carries a very serious suspension along with it, and will likely get him dropped from the team as well.
