  • Leslie Mann And Dakota Johnson Flirt Like Pros With Reporter During Press Junket

Leslie Mann and Dakota Johnson have found a way to make humdrum press junkets a little more interesting.

The two lovely actresses were out promoting their upcoming comedy film, How to Be Single, when they found themselves being interviewed by a rather attractive reporter. Seeing an opportunity to change the pace of the usual question-and-answer routine without compromising the promotion of the film, they proceeded to hit on him instead.

The reporter, whose name is Chris Van Vliet from WSVN Miami, seemed to be to enjoying himself at the beginning of the interview, when Leslie Mann complimented him about his socks and said he was handsome.

“Are you single?” asked Mann, to which Johnson followed with a classic, “Do you work out a lot?”

At that point, the interview had officially been hijacked, more so when Leslie Mann asks him to take off his shirt. When the reporter jokingly responds, “Which one?” Dakota Johnson quickly says, “All of them.”

After settling with unbuttoning three of his shirt buttons, Van Vliet tries to continue the interview by trying out a couple of pick-up lines on the two female stars.

“Are you Google? Because you’re exactly what I’ve been searching for,” to which Leslie Mann and Dakota Johnson immediately expressed their disapproval.

“Don’t ever say that again,” said Johnson. “That’s terrible,” said Mann.

However, the reporter managed to redeem himself with another pick-up line: ““I don’t have a library card but can I check you out,” which probably earned their nods more for the delivery rather than the line itself.

Leslie Mann, Rebel Wilson, and Dakota Johnson Star in ‘How to Be Single’

The film is based on the novel of the same name, which was written by Liz Tuccillo – the same woman who co-wrote the self-help book, He’s Just Not That Into You and the 2005 TV series, Related. How to Be Single stars Leslie Mann, Dakota Johnson, Rebel Wilson, and Alison Brie, and is set to hit theaters on February 12.

  • Jason Bateman Talks Acting and Directing ‘Bad Words’

Jason Bateman normally portrays the good guy in films, but this time around fans get to see a much different facet of his acting abilities.

In his new film Bad Words, which he starred in and directed, he actually plays the role of a bitter man by the name of Guy Trilby. The black comedy film centers around Bateman’s character who bullies his way into a children’s spelling bee.

According to NBC News, Bateman stopped by the Today show on Monday, Mar. 10 to share some details about the upcoming film.

While most people would have little remorse toward the opposing character in a film, Bateman feels otherwise. During his interview on the show, he actually expressed deep sympathy for the antagonistic character he portrays in the film.

“He is a gentleman that has had his feelings hurt,” he explained. “He’s not as smart as you or me or our viewing public here. He’s not well-equipped to … lick his wounds. So he’s doing something kind of petulant and impulsive here, and he is crashing a spelling bee to kind of extract some revenge.”

The Hit and Run actor also shared glints of his experience as a director for the film. With the substantial number of children on the set, he revealed that he had to actually sojourn down memory lane and relive some of his own days as a child actor.

Bateman had one of his first recurring roles on Little House on the Prairie back in 1981-82. He used his experiences with the show’s actor and occasional director Michael Landon as template for his own interactions with the children on the set of Bad Words.

“He took such good care of all of us little kids,” said Bateman. “I found myself recalling a lot of those memories about how I liked the set to be, so I wasn’t so scared or if I was bored he’d make it fun.”

However, even though he now has substantial experience as a director, he admits that he’s no smarter than he was before taking on a directorial role. “I’m just a dumb actor,” he quipped.

Bad Words hits theaters nationwide on March 28.

  • Vanessa Hudgens New Film Set for Heartland Film Festival Premiere

Like many child stars, actress Vanessa Hudgens is widely known for her teenage roles of innocence, but now she aims to break the mold, venturing into the drama sector of the film industry. While Hudgens took an unexpected path in shedding her PG-13 image, amid an X-rated photo scandal, she’s managed to overcome the shade, moving forward to new heights in her career. Her upcoming starring role proves that the transition is definitely in full effect.

In a brief press release on Thursday, theatrical film and movie distribution company, Roadblock Attractions announced its acquisition of U.S. Distribution rights to the motion picture drama, “Gimme Shelter.” The Richard Krauss’ film stars Hudgens, along with veteran actor Brendan Fraser, and “Rent” star, Rosario Dawson.

Based on a true story, “Gimme Shelter,” centers around the compelling story of a 16-year-old pregnant teenage runaway, Apple, portrayed by Hudgens. With a drug addicted mother lost in the throes of prostitution and an absent father, Apple has been dealt very difficult cards in life. She has no desire to follow in her mother’s footsteps, as she aspires to achieve more out of life. Fed up with the current state of her grim lifestyle, Apple runs away in search of the father she never knew.

Now a prominent stock broker, her father takes her in. However, within days of her arrival, she learns of her pregnancy. She subsequently runs away from him upon her decision to keep the child. The drama brings to life the struggles of the teenage mother-to-be, as she finds shelter and solace in a suburban shelter.

The LA Times reported that “Gimme Shelter” is set to premiere at Indiana’s Heartland Film Festival which is scheduled for October 17-26. The film is slated for stateside release Jan. 24.

  • Fraggle Rock Movie in the Works: Writers Hired

A Fraggle Rock movie has been talked about for a while, but now it is finally getting kickstarted with the hiring of two writers to come up with an original screenplay. The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Jim Byrkit (Rango) and Alex Manugian have been hired to write the script for the beloved Jim Henson show.

The film was first announced to 2005, and was scheduled to hit theaters back in 2009. Obviously, that didn’t happen. It has been picked up by several studios and numberous writers have been hired on to take the helm, but each time it has slipped through the cracks. In 2006, the original writer, Ahmet Zappa, was hired to do the movie as a musical. In 2008, The Weinstein Company bought the right and hired Cory Edwards to write. Last year New Regency bought the rights from Weinstein and finally a writing team has been hired for them.

With the movie changing so many hands and two rewrites under its belt, one has to wonder if Fraggle Rock will ever make its way to theaters. And if it does, will it ever live up to the whimsical childhood favorite 80’s hipsters love. Fraggle Rock is arguably the edgiest, hippest (or hippie-est) Jim Henson creation, so one worries if this version will try too hard to be just that, without capturing what made it fun to begin with.

Hollywood loves to bank on our love of nostalgia. Characters like The Muppets, The Smurfs and Alvin and the Chipmunks become like childhood friends to a lot of people. This is fine as long as you don’t wind up with the later two on the list. It’s one thing to extend the life of these character we grew up with. It’s another thing to just cash in on these ideas without doing justice to the original. Which one will the Fraggle Rock movie be?

  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Reboot Gets “Edgy”, Changes Title

Michael Bay, who is well known by now for taking the “Transformers” toy franchise and spinning it into big-screen gold, is working on a new film based on ’80s toys, and it’s already garnering a lot of negative attention by fans of the original cartoon and movies.

Let’s recap what we know about the project so far:

    • The Turtles will not necessarily be mutants, but rather aliens. From space.
    • They will be “edgy”. No further word on what exactly that entails.
    • The new title of the film has been confirmed as “Ninja Turtles“, which sort of suggests that they will not be teenagers in the reboot…unless it’s just a streamlining thing. Shorter, more vague titles are edgy, right?

Fans of the original are pretty much outraged at the changes, with the actor who voiced Michaelangelo in the original film saying that what Bay is doing is considered the “rape of our childhood memories“.

Bay, however, insists that he is working closely with the creators of TMNT to ensure the story is one fans will love…and says everyone should just “chill “.

While it isn’t clear yet just what the changes entail, the few leaks about the film that Bay has provided leave many wondering where the classic goofiness of the Turtles fits in with their new “edgy” makeover. Will they still inhale pizza? Is Michaelangelo still a “party dude”? And perhaps most importantly: will Vanilla Ice make an appearance in the sequel?

I wonder if the world’s biggest TMNT fan is upset about all this….
