iPhone 7?: Marketing Firm Asks Apple To Not Call New Phone 6s

iPhone 7 would be preferrable to iPhone 6s for one marketing company in New York.

6s Marketing has asked, in some very quirky and attention-getting ways, that Apple’s new phone be called the iPhone 7 rather than the iPhone 6s, which would trump their company’s claim on the moniker.

6s Marketing has posted ads all over the city asking Apple, in “Dear Apple” form, to go with iPhone 7.

The ads have captured the attention of citizens all over the place due to their interesting premise and simplistic styling.

6s president, Chris Breikss, said in a statement that the name of the company is sentimental and pleas for Apple to consider iPhone 7.

    Times-Square1

He said, “The name came from a custom license plate on a Mercedes that my father and I spotted when I was 11 years old — it read SSS SSS. After much deliberation, we realized that translated to ‘six-esses,’ or ‘successes.’ Years later, that eventually became the name of our company.”

He added that the name 6s is very important and said, “After the iPhone 4S and 5S launched, we realized that our once-unique name could be in jeopardy, linked to the most popular mobile device in the world. We love Apple’s products; most of us use iPhones on a daily basis, and we’re flattered to potentially share the same name.”

He continued, “However, we would prefer that Apple change the naming convention and consider calling their next phone the iPhone 7.”

While this likely won’t be a successful strategy leading to an iPhone 7 announcement on the 9th, it will probably still be amazing promotion for 6s Marketing.

And that was probably the plan all along, now, wasn’t it?

What do you think about 6s’s attempt to get Apple to go with iPhone 7 for the new phone?

  • iPhone 6 Bending: Not A Cool New Feature

The iPhone 6 is bending in pockets, say some customers.

The iPhone 6 bending problem has become known as “Bendgate” for good reason.

Many distraught customers who just shelled out their hard-earned money for the latest and greatest Apple gadget have found that the iPhone 6 models’ slimmer and larger design make it easy for the phones to bend while in a pocket.

The iPhone bending trend isn’t a new one. Previous iPhone models, like the 5s, as well as those from other manufacturers, like the HTC One, have reported issues with bending, but none have become an epidemic like this problem has.

    As noted on imore.com,

“If you apply enough force to an inch-thick solid steel rod, it will bend. Same goes for the quarter-inch-thick iPhone 6 and 6 Plus (which, I should note, have far less than a quarter of an inch of aluminum in any one spot). Aluminum is actually a fairly soft metal, ranking at 2.5-to-3 on the Mohs scale of hardness. That is to say, it’s about as tough as a U.S. penny (which is actually 97.5% zinc and just plated in copper).”

So, if you just spent hundreds of dollars on your new toy and are now afraid of your iPhone 6 bending, there are some things that can be done to prevent this.

For example, if you can’t keep your iPhone 6 or 6 Plus in your purse or man bag or whatever and must keep it in a pocket, go for the front pocket. Also, when it’s in your front pocket, try to keep it upright.

Some hard cases could help prevent the iPhone 6 from bending, but those softer and more pliable cases won’t do a thing.

What do you think? Should new iPhone 6 owners have seen this issue coming?

  • iPhone 6 – A New iPhone Coming Already?

iPhone 6 – A New iPhone Coming Already?

Are you excited about opening up that new iPhone 5s for Christmas? Did you rush out to get it as soon as it was available in stores, drop big bucks and stand in huge lines just to have the latest iPhone? Well, get ready to do it all again because the iPhone 6 could be released as early as May 2014.

While Apple has been known to release new iPhones often, they have never released two so close together. The iPhone 5s was released earlier this summer and has been a hot item ever since. By releasing a new iPhone already, Apple could be cutting into the sales of the iPhone 5s and losing money in the process.

Many experienced sources believe that Apple is in a hurry to get the new iPhone 6 out on shelves because they are competing with Samsung in terms of screen size and new features. The iPhone 6 is rumored to have a display in the 5-inch range. While this is still smaller than the displays of Samsung Galaxy Note 3 smartphones, it will put Apple in the same category and giving them a more level playing field in terms of features and sales.

To the surprise of many, neither Samsung or Apple will be releasing their new smartphones with flexible screens. Samsung is working on making curved screens and says that they may be released by the end of 2014, but not on the Galaxy Note S5 which is the phone that the iPhone 6 will compete with.

Apple is also rumored to be releasing a new iPad in the fall of 2014. Will you be buying the new iPhone 6 this spring or the new iPad this fall or are you going to hang on to your current phone and tablet for a while longer?

  • New Curved iPhone Rumors- What’s So Great About The Curve?

Rumors of a new iPhone design have already started and many people believe the new phone will have a curved shape. Apple competitors, LG and Samsung have already released phones with curved designs, so it is highly likely that Apple with follow suit. So what makes the curved design so special?

If the rumors are right, the new and curved design will include some other features such as, larger screen and more sensitive and accurate touch screens. The new screens may also be able to distinguish between light and hard touches. All of these things sound nice but where is Apple and other phone companies really headed with these larger screens and more high tech phones?

It appears that the goal of most phone companies is to create phones that look and function very similar to a tablet, but are not tablets. Technology pushes this idea further every time a new phone is made, and eventually, it may be hard to tell the difference between a smart phone and a tablet. So does the curved design really make the phones that much better or are they simply for cosmetic purposes?

The jury is still out on how much value a curved screen adds to a phone,” Patrick Moorhead, the founder of tech analyst firm Moor Insights and Strategies, said. “They might be easier to pick up, but I don’t think many people are complaining about that.”

So when it comes to buying a curved iPhone, are you willing to pay out the extra money for a new iPhone that has an impressive new look, but not impressive new features?

  • iPhone 5 Release Date Set for “Third or Fourth Week” of September [RUMOR]

iPhone 5 Release Date Set for “Third or Fourth Week” of September [RUMOR]

If we believe the rumored time frame, eager Apple fans will be able to get their hands on the new iPhone on September 21st.

And a new report from BGR seems to corroborate that date range. According to a “trusted source” inside AT&T, the iPhone 5 (new iPhone?) will launch during the third or fourth week of September. And AT&T is planning on a rush, as they are also instituting an all hands on deck policy that will last into October. Not only that, but apparently a large training event has been postponed to early October because of a “huge announcement.”

Current rumors put the release on September 21st, and the official press event to unveil the new device on September 12th. Yesterday, we heard that pre-orders for the next-gen iPhone will also kick off on September 12th. That means that Apple is changing it up a bit from last year. The pre-order period for the iPhone 4S didn’t start until a few days after the debut of the device.

Of course, these are all still rumors at this point – but we have heard a fair amount of sources put the release in late September.

If you’re hungry for more iPhone 5-related predictions, we’ve recently heard about a possibly smaller SIM card, a thinner battery, and a new motherboard design that confirms LTE support.

If all of the spec rumors turn out to be correct, this is likely what your new iPhone will look like:

  • iPhone 5 Pre-Orders Rumored For September 12th

If the latest rumors are to be believed, you’re going to be able to put your money down on Apple’s new iPhone on the same day that they unveil it to the public.

According to iMore, pre-orders for the iPhone 5 (new iPhone?) are set to kick off on September 12th.

If you remember, September 12th is the date that Apple has supposedly tapped to hold the big press event to launch their new smartphone. Although the rumored launch day was the 12th, it wasn’t a sure thing that Apple would also open up pre-orders on the same day. Last year, with the iPhone 4S, Apple introduced the new phone three days before they opened up pre-orders.

And of course, this isn’t a “sure thing” either. It’s a rumor, and as we know, the iPhone rumor mill is one of the most prolific ones around.

But if that date holds up, we’re looking at a September 21st release date for the new iPhone.

This pre-order rumor isn’t the only iPhone 5 rumor that’s floating around today. Chinese forums have claimed that this image is a leak of the device’s motherboard. If true, it would confirm LTE for the upcoming device.

We’ve heard a lot of rumors concerning the new specs on the device. If those rumors are accurate, this is what the iPhone 5 will probably look like:

  • New iPhone: Is This What The iPhone 5 Will Really Be Called?

Everyone calls the forthcoming iPhone the iPhone 5. Not everyone, but that’s generally what its referred to as when any rumors or speculation about the device are reported.

In reality, it’s very unlikely that the device will actually be called the iPhone 5. Remember the iPad 3? That was what everyone was calling the latest version fo the iPad before Apple unveiled it, and simply called it the “New iPad”.

I’m not really sure how helpful the strategy of naming a device the “new” iPad or iPhone really is, because eventually, it will no longer be called the “new” one, but that is clearly the path Apple has taken with the iPad, and it seems only logical that the iPhone would follow a similar path.

Gizmodo makes a pretty good case for why the device will almost certainly not be called the iPhone 5, beyond the above point. As the publication notes, the original 2G iPhone was just called the iPhone, the second one was called the iPhone 3G, the third one was called the 3GS, the fourth one was called the iPhone 4, and the fifth one was called the 4S. The major point being that the fifth generation iPhone already exists, and it’s not called the iPhone 5 (remember, that’s what everyone was calling that one too before it was unveiled).

It could be the iPhone 6, but that seem fairly unlikely as well.

If I was a gambling man, I’d put my money on “New iPhone” as what Apple will actually call this thing. Apple still refers to the latest iPad as “The New iPad”. You can see it that on the company’s iOS 6 page, where it shows you the devices the operating system will be compatible with.

    iOS 6

It’s not hard to imagine “The new iPhone” being added to that image. Or maybe it will be “iPhone 6th generation”.

    What do you think?

The device is expected to be unveiled on September 12. Here’s what’s being said about it.

  • iPhone 5 Release Date: October, Says Foxconn HR Guy

Another day, another rumor about the upcoming iPhone. What’s particularly interesting about this one is where it comes from, as well as the fact that a similar source said something completely different just last week. Thus is the nature of iPhone rumors, however. It’s only April and I think I’ve already run out of salt.

The lastest rumor comes to us from Apple product manufacturer Foxconn. Based on a report in the South Korean “Maeil Business Newspaper” (Google Translated version), Apple’s new iPhone (iPhone 5, new iPhone, new new iPhone – who knows?) will launch in October.

The paper asked the head of Human Resources at Foxconn’s Taiyuan factory about the device, to which he replied, “We just got the order. It [the release] will be around October.” When asked again about the specific release date, he once again said it would hit some time “around October.”

If you follow the saga that is speculative iPhone release rumors, you’ll know that this sounds odd considering that we heard just last week that the new phone would be hitting the shelves much sooner – in June. That date was given to us by none other than a Foxconn recruiter, who slipped the June release date into a recored interview regarding the company’s recruiting initiative.

That wasn’t the first time we’ve heard June as a possible release date.

The June theory hinges upon the belief that Apple will be holding their annual Worldwide Developers Conference during that month. Previous new versions of the iPhone have been announced at that conference.

But not last year. The iPhone 4S announcement was pushed back to October, and the headlining new product at WWDC 2011 was iOS 5.

An October release date for the new iPhone would make sense, as it would give Apple that important one year window between versions of the same product. Plus, with a significant redesign expected for the new iPhone, releasing it only 9 or so months after an incremental update like the iPhone 4S might really piss off everyone that bought that device in October.

But, as the world turns, new iPhone rumors will pop up from every corner of the globe. This one was just particularly interesting: sources related to the same company giving vastly different responses within a week of each other – nothing could be more indicative of the madness of the iPhone rumor season.
