  • Kristin Chenoweth Talks ‘Coming Home’ Concert Special

Kristin Chenoweth is back again! On Nov. 18, the Emmy Award-winning singer released her fifth studio album, Coming Home.

But, that’s not all! She’s also doing a PBS concert special to commemorate the release of the new album.

During a recent interview with Billboard, the 46-year-old singer discussed the upcoming concert special and her album.

She revealed why it was important for her to do the concert in her hometown of Broken Arrow, OK.

“The idea was to perform in front of people who had seen me grow up, my ballet teachers, voice teachers in college, people I did cheerleading with, went to church with… they were all there,” she revealed.

“Having an arts center named after you is daunting, but it felt right to do it at home. Still, I was more nervous for this than performing at any other venue. I was a wreck, not going to lie,” she said.

According to Playbill, Chenoweth will be backed by a 13-peice orchestra for the concert. Her repertoire will include the following 14 songs:

“I Could Have Danced All Night”
“Going To The Dance With You”
    “My Coloring Book”
    “Bring Him Home”
    “Upon This Rock”
    “Maybe This Time”
    “Fathers and Daughters”
    “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”
    “Popular”
    “For Good”
“Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again”
    “All the Things You Are”
    “Enough Is Enough”
    “I Was Here”

Chenoweth also shared some interesting details about the album and what she wants fans to get from her new project. Surprisingly, her intentions are a bit different than most artists.

“I want people to hear a live, non-Auto-Tuned album and know that not every note is pitch-perfect,” Chenoweth said. “It’s not something we really celebrate anymore. You listen to all the greats and there’s rawness. It’s freeing.”

Kristin Chenoweth: Coming Home premieres Friday, Nov. 28 9:oop.m. ET on PBS.

  • Lindsey Buckingham Spills Rumours About Fleetwood Mac’s New Album

Rumour has it that Fleetwood Mac is in the early stages of building a new album. And with Fleetwood Mac, rumours are a good thing.

Speaking by phone to the Wall Street Journal, singer/guitarist Lindsey Buckingham revealed that material is being gathered from within the band for what could be the next Fleetwood Mac album, their first with a now fully-reunited “classic lineup” since 1987’s Tango in the Night.

The first pieces are coming in from newly-rejoined singer/keyboardist Christine McVie, who brought in what Buckingham refers to as “piano and voice demos”.

“I took massive liberties with them,” Buckingham said, with McVie’s permission, of course.

So far, only Buckingham and McVie have been involved in any material gathering. Stevie Nicks, in addition to touring with the band on their current “On With the Show” concerts, is preparing for exhibits of her photography in Los Angeles and New York.

“Christine and I were able to concentrate on each other. We were exploring some new turf. That became enlightening to me.”

But Stevie is absolutely going to join in once her schedule frees up a bit.

“We never envisioned finishing the album in the short term. We set it aside. Stevie will come in and participate. I have material I had been working on. There’s no danger that it will slip between the tracks. It’s too profound to.”

Buckingham spoke about Christine re-joining the band after a 16-year absence.

“It’s a very interesting thing when someone who helped to define the interaction leaves for that amount of time. You don’t know how it’s going to play out. But this something that feels really good. It feels really circular.”

For right now, Fleetwood Mac is focusing on the current tour, which mainly consists of fan-pleasing “classic lineup” material from the Fleetwood Mac through Tango in the Night albums. If the sessions with the principal songwriters and Fleetwood/McVie rhythm section go well, there could be a new album to tour behind.

“Once we finish it,” Buckingham said, “we can think about going out and trying something new.”

When things are clicking with the band members, they have the ability to churn out amazing songs. One of their most prolific albums, 1977’s Rumours, contained 11 songs, almost every one of which is still frequently played on “classic rock” radio, nine of them solidly, as well as a studio out-take track (“Silver Springs”) that has found a life of its own since then. That album’s recording sessions happened in the midst of divorce, breakup, infidelity, and loads of tension among the band members. Still it was brilliant and hugely successful.

A setlist from last night’s show in Philadelphia includes:

    The Chain
    You Make Loving Fun
    Dreams
    Second Hand News
    Rhiannon
    Everywhere
    I Know I’m Not Wrong
    Tusk
    Sisters of the Moon
    Say You Love Me
    Seven Wonders
    Big Love
    Landslide
    Never Going Back Again
    Over My Head
    Gypsy
    Little Lies
    Gold Dust Woman
    I’m So Afraid
    Go Your Own Way
    World Turning
    Don’t Stop
    Silver Springs
    Songbird

These songs are all from Fleetwood Mac albums in the “classic lineup” era. The individual members of the core songwriting trio of Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, and Stevie Nicks have all had success as solo artists and collaborators with other artists outside of Fleetwood Mac. It is a real testament to the power of the trio as a unit that they can fill a good concert without touching any of that outside material, or even the eight year’s worth of pre-Buckingham/Nicks albums that Fleetwood Mac did with guitarists Peter Green or Bob Welch.

Here’s hoping they get a new album out soon.

  • Chris Brown Hopes To Make Big Bucks Off New ‘X’ Album

Chris Brown is diligently working on his upcoming album.

Since his release from jail on June 2, he’s been focused on the post-production of his sixth studio album X.

According to Cover Media, the 25-year-old singer is pulling out all the stops to ensure the album is a monumental success.

An insider close to the “Loyal” singer shared details about his big plans for the highly anticipated album with Hollywood Life. The source explained the Grammy Award-winning singer doesn’t just want quality music. He also wants big bucks.

“Chris wants X to not only be bomb in terms of the content, but he wants it to make a killing and sell well too,” a source said. “This is a business and he does want to make money.”

“The people behind him who are working on this are straight professionals who have been doing this before Chris was even born. They know what they’re doing, and Chris is letting them do their jobs. That’s what they get paid to do.”

He’s reportedly collaborating with some of the industry’s heavy hitters. The album boasts features from Kendrick Lamar, Ludacris, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, and Wiz Khalifa. He’s also had the opportunity to work with notable producers like Timbaland, Danja, Pharrell Williams, Drumma Boy and “Look At Me Now” producer Diplo.

The album was originally scheduled to be released in 2013. However, the release was delayed four times as a result of the troubled singer’s legal woes. For those who missed it, 2013 was a tumultuous year for the famed R&B crooner. He was arrested three times before he voluntarily entered rehab in October for his anger issues. But, on March 14, 2014, he was kicked out of rehab and sent to jail.

Chris Brown’s X album is tentatively scheduled to be released sometime in September.

  • AC/DC Finish New Album Without Malcolm Young

Back in April, things did not look promising for AC/DC. News had spread that Malcolm Young, founding member and rhythm guitarist for the legendary rock band, was taking a break due to ill health. However, lead singer Brian Johnson insisted that AC/DC was not finished and that the band would continue to make music.

“We are definitely getting together in May in Vancouver. We’re going to pick up some guitars, have a plonk, and see if anybody has got any tunes or ideas.” Johnson said three months ago after news broke of Young’s illness. “If anything happens, we’ll record it.”

Looks like something happened. The frontman, who was in his hometown of Newcastle to pick up his Doctorate Degree in music from Northumbria University, said that the band’s next album is already finished after several recording sessions in Vancouver. “It was brilliant over there. We’re done. I’m very excited and we’ve got some great songs.”

Johnson was clearly fired up about the music but somber about Malcolm’s absence from the sessions, “We miss Malcolm obviously. He’s a fighter. He’s in hospital but he’s a fighter. We’ve got our fingers crossed that he’ll get strong again.” He added, “Stevie, Malcolm’s nephew, was magnificent, but when you’re recording with this thing hanging over you and your work mate isn’t well, it’s difficult. But I’m sure he was rooting for us. He’s such a strong man. He’s a small guy but he’s very strong. He’s proud and he’s very private so we can’t say too much. But fingers crossed he’ll be back.”

The title of the band’s 15th studio album has yet to be determined. Johnson said that they considered Man Down, in honor of Malcolm, but then they had second thoughts because of the negativity that the name would imply.

Fans can expect to see the album either this year or early 2015.

  • Nicole Scherzinger Reveals Gym Antics, Opens Up About Eating Disorder

Nicole Scherzinger has a jaw-dropping figure, and she’s undeniably beautiful.

Although the 36-year-old singer-actress admits that it takes a gratuitous effort to maintain her incredible body, she never backs down from the challenge!

However, she insists fans would probably be a bit surprised to know that her actual workouts aren’t nearly as sexy as it would appear in a music video.

According to Cover Media, the “Whatever U Like” singer made an appearance on the British talk show Lorraine, where she dished about her hilarious gym antics.

“People at my hotel must be cracking up!” she quipped. “They think it’s glamorous, but you see me in the gym and I look crazy; I’m all sweating, huffing and puffing and turning red. You have to work hard to get results!”

The Killer Love singer also revealed that she’s definitely no stranger to hard work. Scherzinger has reportedly surmounted a number of tough obstacles in her life. Back in 2012, Scherzinger went public about her eight-year battle with bulimia. Although she’s much healthier now, she still thinks it’s important to discuss her past and how she’s managed to overcome her struggle with the debilitating eating disorder.

“I didn’t give up. I have a very strong faith and an amazing family. Nobody’s perfect, people would look at me and I’d think, ‘You don’t know half the story, you have no idea.’ I had the courage to speak out because I realized I could help other people,” she explained.

“Everybody gets in that dark headspace and you have to fight back. I threw myself back into my music, stuff that builds my confidence.”

Now that her health battle is an issue of the past, Scherzinger is looking forward to focusing on her music career. She’s currently promoting her new single, “Your Love.” The song, which was released on May 30, is the first single from her upcoming second studio album. No release date has been announced for the new album, as of yet.

  • Pink Floyd’s First New Album in 20 Years

Pink Floyd’s First New Album in 20 Years

The Division Bell, what has heretofore been considered Pink Floyd’s final album, was released in 1994. There were some other recordings done around the same time, and they have been in the vault for 20 years. Now that the anniversary of that record is coming around, bandleader David Gilmour has decided to pull out that material and do something exciting with it.

Pink Floyd has a new album coming out.

Floyd fans’ initial reaction will be to ask two questions:

    What about Rick Wright?

    What about Roger Waters?

Rick Wright was Pink Floyd’s keyboard player. Wright died in 2008. It would hardly seem like a Pink Floyd album without Wright.

Well, there is good news on that front.

The sessions from 1994 include Wright. One of Floyd’s background singers expanded on that bit of news on her Facebook page.

“The recording did start during the Division Bell sessions (and yes, it was the side project originally titled ‘The Big Spliff’ that [Pink Floyd drummer] Nick Mason spoke about). Which is why there are Richard Wright tracks on it. But David and Nick have gone in and done a lot more since then. It was originally to be a completely instrumental recording, but I came in last December and sang on a few tracks. David then expanded on my backing vocals and has done a lead on at least one of them.”

But what about co-founder and bassist Roger Waters? So far there is no word on whether Waters will have anything to do with the album. Fans’ hope springs eternal, especially since Gilmour and Waters have tried repeatedly to bury the hatchet and perform together from time to sporadic time. But Waters has not appeared on a Pink Floyd album since The Final Cut in 1983.

As Samson tweeted, the album will be called The Endless River, and is due out in October.

  • Alicia Keys Coming With New Album

Alicia Keys Coming With New Album

After two years of keeping her fans waiting, Alicia Keys is swinging back with a new studio album.

“With this album, I find I have much more I want to talk about. This album is more about the concept, the thought I’m trying to get across, where in the past it’s been more about the melody. This time it’s more about what we’re going through as human being,” Keys told Women’s Wear Daily.

Alicia Keys says the material on her new album will have something that everyone can relate to, but it particularly carries themes of independence and breaking expectations that others have of us. As a mother, these themes are closer to her heart than ever.

“We all experience similar things. I find that the world puts us in these boxes where we’re only allowed to be one way — like, ‘to succeed as a career woman, you need to do it this way,’ or ‘to be a gay man, you have to be this way.’ First of all, we’re so much more complex than that. It’s about breaking down those boundaries. The songs concentrate on concepts like that. As human beings, we like to identify with something, and as for me, I love people with a strong point of view,” she explained.

Keys herself puts her money where her mouth is when it comes to seeing people for more than others would expect. She is the co-Founder of Keep a Child Alive, a group that provides medicine to children and families in Africa with HIV and AIDS.

She also has developed her own sneaker line with Reebok.

The songwriting process is something Alicia Keys is fascinated by. Sometimes things start one way but end up someplace entirely differently than you expected.

“You come into it with a thought, with an idea, with a melody,” she said. “But you don’t know what you’re going to get, which is the mystery of it. That’s how it becomes something.”

Keys’ new album is as yet untitled and is slated for a 2015 release.

  • Ariana Grande Talks New Single “Problem,” and Second Album

Ariana Grande is ecstatic about her upcoming sophomore album.

On Sunday, April 27, the 20-year-old actress, singer-songwriter released her new song “Problem,” which features former Grand Hustle rapper, Iggy Azalea.

“Problem” is the lead single for Grande’s second studio album. The single was co-written by Grande and Azalea, along with famed producer Max Martin and Savan Kotecha. The official release came shortly Grande and Azalea premiered the song at the 2014 Radio Disney Music Awards.

According to Billboard, Grande is quite pleased with the quality of her new material, and looks forward to the fans’ reaction to the new album. “It was a very exciting thing for me to all of a sudden have this new mission,” Grande said.

“To make something as special as Yours Truly, and to put my time and effort into something new and something I want to make just as good, if not better,” she said. “I never thought I’d be able to say this, but I love [the new album] five times  as much as I love Yours Truly,” she admitted. “They’re different, but I love this one so much more.”

    http://youtu.be/h8E2G0m6n84

Although she’s excited about the song now, she didn’t always feel that way. As a matter of fact, she admitted that she initially didn’t want the record on her upcoming album. However, the more she listened to it, she began to notice its hit potential. Luckily, she decided to release it! The song has already skyrocketed to No. 1 on iTunes. Grande and Azalea both took to social media to share the news with fans.

“‘Problem’ truly represents the feeling of being absolutely terrified to re-approach a relationship that’s gone sour — but you want to more than anything,” said Grande.

The publication also reported that Grande “cryptically confirmed” that the song is based on her on-again, off-again relationship with her ex. “In the song, it ends on a sappy, negative note, but in [real] life, we’re hoping it’s going to end on a positive one. I feel like it’s all very honest and human.”

Although the upcoming album is still untitled, the Yours Truly singer projects that it will be released sometime in August or September.

  • Queen Latifah Talks New Music And Super Bowl Performance

Queen Latifah has been quite busy over the past couple weeks.

First, the Queen stepped into the role of officiator, marrying 33 couples live at the 56th annual Grammy Awards last weekend.

Then yesterday, she ventured back into the world of music, as she sang “America the Beautiful” at Super Bowl XLVIII.

Right before she took the field, Latifah weighed in sharing her remarks about performing for the biggest NFL game of the year.

She spoke of the historic values that the song represents.

“Anybody who takes it as a joke … to me, I don’t know if they really get it,” she said backstage after her performance. “This is moment where for a change we all can … come together and (have) a sense of pride, and not really worry about anything else that goes on Monday morning.”

Latifah also shared something else that fans can look forward to this year. She revealed that she’s working on new music.

According to the Associated Press, she’s looking to release the new material later this year. Although the Joyful Noise singer-actress successfully launched The Queen Latifah Show back in September, she still has yet another desire.

Its no secret that Latifah’s humble beginnings stem from the stage. So, it also comes as no surprise that the 43-year-old former rapper is looking to get back to her roots where it all started, with just a mic and a rhyme.

“I’m already working on stuff with that,” she said of the new music. “I can kind of interweave that with the talk show. …It’s time to jack another day at the show, give the interviews a break for one day and just perform and rock the crowd. So, I have the best platform to do it.”

Latifah, widely known for her Grammy Award-winning song “U.N.I.T.Y.,” has not announced any further details about the upcoming project as of yet.

  • Kellie Pickler: New Album Makes Parade Appearance

Kellie Pickler joined the bands and balloons today, performing at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The country star is promoting her new album, All The Woman I Am, which debuts at Number 4 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. The new album features 12 songs, three of which were co-written by Pickler.

Pickler is also making an appearance on the CMA Country Christmas special, airing on 2 December. Known for her bubbly style and down-home wit, Pickler posts on her Facebook page: “I’m performing my new Christmas song ‘The Man With The Bag’…most of you know that I am a HUGE fan of the classics…this song was written in 1950 and the legendary Kay Starr made it a holiday hit!!!!! …it was my first time recording with a ‘big band’….it’s sassy and fun! Xo Pickler.” The song can be purchased from iTunes.

Pickler, 27, has made the rounds of TV reality. She is a champion of Dancing With The Stars and made her debut on American Idol. She even recorded much of the album during her DWTS run. But the album, which was released on 11 November, tells tales of a small town girl and as The Hollywood Reporter puts it, “the best friend a gal could want for.”

The title track was written by Pickler with her husband, Nashville songwriter Kyle Jacobs. “My husband came home from work, and we wrote ‘The Woman I Am,’ which is perfect. I guess nobody knows me better,” says Pickler.

To her fans and potential purchasers, the North Carolina native says she hopes they find, “at least one song off this album that they identify with and hope it speaks to them… we all come from somewhere, we just don’t get to choose that place that we come from… We get to choose what we do today.”

  • Kellie Pickler Returns With New Album

Kellie Pickler has returned with a new album for her fans that is to be released on November 11. The album is titled “The Woman I Am,” and she is even letting people stream the album online, something that has become very popular for musicians to do recently.

Pickler shot to fame through her appearance on American Idol in 2006, and since then she has enjoyed a successful music career as a country artist with several award nominations, including a CMT Music Award for Breakthrough Video Of The Year in 2008 for her single “I Wonder.”

Her new album is much more personal than her others, and includes a song that she wrote for her grandmother. She says that she felt she captured the essence of who she was, and gets in touch with her emotion when writing the song. She told Billboard, “I was just describing her. She never conformed to the ways of the world. She kept all of her money in canning jars, washed her clothes in the sink and hung them up on the line. She was very much old school, and I think that song represents the women of her generation.”

The new album is a debut for Kellie Pickler on her record label, Black River Entertainment, and she feels very happy with her new label. The album opens with her single “Little Bit Gypsy,” and closes with the ballad “Someone Somewhere Tonight.” This marks her fourth album as a recording artist, and she co-wrote three of the 12 songs on the album.

She revealed earlier this year that her album would have autobiographical stories, and she seemed very excited to expose some of her personal history with her fans. Speaking on the decision to get more personal on the album, she said “I’ve made records where I’m trying to make everybody else happy and say what other people want me to say. That was miserable.”

Although the album has not been available to purchase until today, Pickler let her fans enjoy a free streaming of the album online, starting last Friday. Those who are still not ready to buy the album, and would like to stream it first, can do so by going here.

Kellie Pickler is currently on tour and promoting her new album, and earlier this year she won on Dancing With The Stars, with her partner Derek Hough.

  • Jennifer Nettles Ready for New Album Release

Jennifer Nettles is officially ready to release her solo album and has announced the date: January 14th. The Sugarland singer has a busy week ahead of her, full of appearances and album promotion, according to AP.

On Sunday, she started the week with a listening party for her new album, entitled “That Girl”. She will continue the madness by attending the CMA Awards on Wednesday, and on Friday, will serve as host at the taping of the CMA Christmas show.

So, how will her solo music compare to what we are used to with her musical other half, Kristian Bush?

“I think this album so far for me musically has been the most intimate and personal … musically and vocally,” Nettles said. “I think it’s way more intimate to me and way more personal in the sense that when you collaborate, that’s the nature of collaboration, you’re affecting each other, and playing with and inspiring each other, and yet there are things that one may not get to do or want to do when collaborating.”

That’s not the only big change in her life. It has been 11 months since Nettles gave birth to her son, Magnus. Motherhood has also changed Nettles, as it changes everyone, and she says that has made a huge difference, as well. “I’m able to show a side that I think’s more womanly,” Nettles said. “I think it’s more mature, and so that’s big for me. I think it gives you perspective all around, not just musically but also in my career.”

“I think you get super-efficient because you have to be. You don’t worry about things that were super-important before because you have a baby and you just burn that underbrush out. You feel like a huntress.”

I never thought of it that way, but so true. Well, I’m sure from the overwhelming success she has enjoyed from her Sugarland collaboration, we are in for a treat with Jennifer Nettles’ new solo album, “That Girl”.

  • Britney Spears Pens Personal Letter to Fans

Britney Spears may have finally made the big turn-around. Her new album is very personal, according to her, and as evidenced by it’s title, “Britney Jean”. Simply her first and middle name. What a difference a few years makes, right? In the wake of the upcoming release of her new album Britney posted a personal, handwritten letter to her fans on her website.

In it, she talks about her new release and thanks her fans for all their fan-ness.

“I am putting the finishing touches on my new album, “Britney Jean” over the next few days and I am so excited for you to hear it. I poured my heart and soul into this album and it’s been an incredible journey. I’ve learned a lot about myself, and as I am finishing, I am reminded of the incredible foundation that has supported me for the last 15 years. Thank you all for continuing to follow me on this journey and for allowing me to do what I love to do. I can’t believe this is my eighth studio album and I know I keep telling you that it is my most personal record yet, but its true and I’m really proud of that.”

In addition to outlining the expected greatness of the new songs on her new album, she appeals on the level of your best friend giving you a heart-felt gift. She really seems to affirm her transformation with a sincere desire to show herself as she is, on a very relatable note.

“I want to show you the different sides of Britney Spears. I am a performer. I am a Mom. I am funny. I am your friend! I am Britney Jean. Hope you love my labor of love!”

The note is very sweet, and a nice change of pace for her! However, it remains to be seen if this album can compare with the success of its predecessors. We will have to wait until December 3rd.

  • Drake Album Is Leaked Online A Week Before Release

Drake, the Canadian born rapper, singer-songwriter and actor has become the latest person to release music online, before it was due to come out. Lady Gaga did the same thing in August, while Britney Spears released a new single on Sunday. Drake first gained recognition for his role on the television show Degrassi: The Next Generation and debuted his first album, “Thank Me Later,” in 2010. Drake’s new album is called “Nothing Was The Same” and is due to be released on September 24.

Drake has been known to collaborate with a number of people throughout his career and this album will be no different. His new album features cameos from Jay Z, Jhené Aiko, Majid Jordan and Detail, mentions Mashable. After the album was leaked, all sorts of social media became a part of the equation, making the name of the album one of Monday’s top searches in the United States. His single “Pound Cake,” which features Jay-Z, was also trending on Twitter worldwide for most of Monday. “Pound Cake” is the final song on the album and it’s likely to please his current and new fans while raising eyebrows from rap traditionalists, according to Spin Magazine.

His new single “Too Much” premiered on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon on Friday night. This is a track that had never been heard before and features a guest appearance from Sampha. The heartfelt song functioned as an open letter to his old friends and family who have watched him transform from a locally known actor to an international superstar rapper, says Billboard.com.

The rapper is in complete promo mode, after working for the past two weeks to advertise himself over Instagram and Twitter. His new album is likely to be another hit like its predecessor, “Take Care,” which can be credited for creating the popularized phrase YOLO. Drake’s previous work has earned him a Grammy, three Juno Awards, six BET Awards and several Billboard Music Awards.

Drake’s real name is Aubrey Graham. He sat down with Jimmy Fallon on Friday and talked about the song and the album’s cover art, before performing his new single. He also played a round of charades with Fallon and fellow guest Scarlett Johansson. Other tracks from the album have been released for streaming as well including “Started From The Bottom” and “Hold On, We’re Going Home.” He also previewed each of these songs for his fans during a performance at the MTV Video Music Awards.
