  • Ndamukong Suh Fined For Hit On Brandon Weeden

As if he hasn’t been hit with enough fines already in his career, Ndamukong Suh has been fined again for a hit that he delivered to Brandon Weeden. He just can’t seem to catch a break, as he has easily become the most notorious player in the NFL, in terms of toughness and being aggressive.

The defensive tackle for the Lions has been attacking players throughout his career, and has received several fines and suspensions.

With all of the consequences that he has received, one would think that he would learn somehow, but it does not seem to be working. Brandon Weeden, quarterback of the Cleveland Browns was his latest victim, hitting him hard in their 6th game of the season.

The fine was announced the NFL on Wednesday and was first reported on the Detroit Lions website. Although the fines continue to pile up and not have an effect on the aggressive tackle, this time around, Suh will be forced to pay a fine of $31,500. This time though, it seems that his reputation has gotten the best of him, and the hit is not looked at as very aggressive by the coaches and analysts.

    ,
Before he was assigned the most recent fines, Suh reportedly told reporters that he is always being scrutinized for the way that he plays. While it is clearly true, it seems that the way that his career has played out, he needs extra attention shown to his performance. He recently said “There’s always going to be a microscope on me, no matter where it is, from outside media, from the NFL to little kids to everybody.”

The Lions won their game against the Browns last Sunday with a final score of 31-17, and are currently 3-2, while maintaining the top spot in the NFC North division. This week, they will face off against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Suh’s last fine, a hit on Vikings center John Sullivan, which was issued in week 1, cost him $100,000 dollars. The hit in week 1 also negated a Lions touchdown that was scored off of an interception from DeAndre Levy.

Ndamukong Suh’s aggressive play continues to cost him large sums of money and in many cases, important errors made for his team. The question still remains, why is he still on the team? Does anyone think he should be cut because of his play? Ironically enough, he was not penalized during the game for his hit on Weeden.

  • Ndamukong Suh Delivers Another Dirty Hit

Ndamukong Suh Delivers Another Dirty Hit

Ndamukong Suh just cannot seem to hit other players in a clean way, it seems. He has been racking up large fines for the hits he puts on other players ever since he got into the NFL. It is really dangerous to play so dirty, and it is important that the NFL has the policy that they do, otherwise they would have even more injuries than they do. Although, maybe the fines should be even higher in order to prevent this from happening so often. Suh is a defensive tackle, who plays for the Detroit Lions. He graduated from the University of Nebraska and has been in the league for four years now, putting the big hits on offensive lineman and quarterbacks on a regular basis.

Yesterday, he put a big hit on Minnesota Vikings center John Sullivan, and is likely to receive a heavy fine because of it. It looks like he may avoid a suspension this time, but how many times can he tackle people in this way before he is simply benched or cut from the team? Everyone wants a guy that is able to get a lot of tackles, but Suh just gets too aggressive sometimes. Suh was flagged for an illegal block, which also wiped out a Lions touchdown, according to NFL.com. He cut Sullivan’s knees out from behind when he was trailing an interception return by Deandre Levy, the linebacker for the Lions. Suh’s hit also cost them a touchdown, after their quarterback Matthew Stafford threw an interception, leading to a scoring drive for the Vikings.

Suh remarked to ESPN and said “I wasn’t by any means going for his knees.” It seems a bit hard for him to deny something like that when everyone saw the hit that he put on him. Where else could he have been going for? Dirty play like that cannot be tolerated in the NFL and they will certainly take a look at this and continue to work on other rules that will help ensure the safety of the players.

The ruthless defensive tackle has simply built a reputation and a bit of a legacy around his dirty and costly plays, something that cannot continue. His dirty plays often result in big penalties that hurt the Lions during the games, and he has also injured multiple players during his time in the NFL. Sure, Lions fans will get excited when he gets a big hit because of how cool it looks at the time, but his career will not be looking good for too much longer if he continues to act in this way. In addition to the five games in which Suh has been fined, he was suspended once. The incident kept him out for two games in 2011 for stomping on Packers offensive lineman Evan Dietrich-Smith during a Thanksgiving Day game, reports the Detroit News.

  • Here’s A Meat-And-Olive Ndamukong Suh (And A BBQ Chicken Jarvis Jones)

You know those Subway commercials with all the athletes? Did you know that when you’re one of Subway’s athletes, you get a sandwich bust in your likeness?

Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones is the latest to enter into this tradition. Detroit Lions DT Ndamukong Suh shares this, along with a memory of his old bust, on Facebook, saying, “Welcome to the Subway fam Jarvis Jones! I remember mine like it was yesterday!!!!”

The img.ly post comes with the caption:

Welcome to the family @sacmanjones_29 ! I remember mine like it was yesterday! #FamousFan @subway #smokehousebbqchicken sculpture

Jones is also showing his sandwich pride, tweeting out some different angles as captured with Instagram:

Why don’t they put these in the commercials? These are much better than this actual Smokehouse BBQ Chicken ad from Subway:

At least they’re actively promoting the sandwich art on social media (and in interviews):

  • Suh Saves Man In Pool (Man Happens To Be Comedian Louie Anderson)

Ndamukong Suh, the famous (or infamous, if you prefer) defensive tackle for the Detroit Lions reportedly saved comedian Louie Anderson from drowning (along with help from famed diver Greg Louganis). You couldn’t make this up.

Suh is to appear on Splash, a reality show about diving, a move even his teammates have reportedly spoken out against. I guess it’s a good thing for Anderson he was there. TMZ reports:

Sources close to the production tell TMZ, Louie — who’s a contestant on the show — was practicing his dives on Wednesday when he became a little too bushed to pull himself up the ladder … falling back into the water again and again.

We’re told Louie eventually had to be rescued by Suh and divemaster Greg Louganis — who physically lifted the foundering funnyman to the poolside. Louie then sat coughing up water for several seconds.

So, there’s at least one more person that probably doesn’t have a problem with Suh, despite his bad reputation as a dirty player.

The episode on which Suh will appear will air on Tuesday, March 19 at 8:00 PM on ABC.

Suh recorded two tackles in the Pro Bowl on Sunday.

  • This Kid Doesn’t Have A Problem With Ndamukong Suh

Detroit Lions DT Ndamukong Suh has taken a lot of heat in the media lately. Okay, throughout his entire NFL career, but especially lately (and especially since his foot met Texans QB Matt Schaub’s groin on Thanksgiving Day). After that, he was accused of taunting an injured Colts player, and even in Sunday night’s defeat against the Packers, he had a late hit on QB Aaron Rodgers. He’s even been voted the dirtiest player in the NFL by his fellow players.

Even still, there are kids looking up to the man, and he’s well aware of this fact. WXYZ TV, an ABC affiliate in Detroit recently ran this segment showing Suh “making a wish come true” for a little boy with CANDLE syndrome, a rare autoinflammatory disease.

Suh is certainly not the only player to lend himself to such situations, but this video, which has received next to zero media attention, outside of the local station which aired it, shows that the scary football beast does indeed have a heart.

  • Ndamukong Suh Gets Fined By NFL, Fires Back on Twitter

Twitter is clearly the voicebox of a new generation, even more for professional athletes who have grievances to air. Take Ndamukong Suh for instance. The devastating defensive tackle who plays for the Detroit Lions and possesses an incredibly awesome name nearly took the head off of Cincinnati Bengals rookie quarterback, Andy Dalton, and was punished for his efforts.

    The hit in question:

For what was deemed as an excessive tackle on the opposing player, Suh was fined by his superiors–the NFL–for $20,000. The reason the fine was so severe, especially when you consider the fact it was during a preseason game, is because Suh has something of a history with quarterbacks during exhibition games.

    Just ask Jake Delhomme.

For that hit, which took place last season, Suh was fined for $7500. The escalation of this year’s fine is directly related to last year’s. The Jay Cutler hit was probably considered as well, but that was just a bad call all the way around on the NFL’s part:

Not sure what Suh was supposed to do there, but for that tackle, he was again fined $15,000; and now, with the fallout from the Dalton hit has hit the wires, Suh is none-too-happy about the NFL’s decision. Naturally, Suh took his beef to the people of Twitter:

    $20,000REALLY???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    #NFL #BIGFAIL 3 hours ago via Twitterrific · powered by @socialditto

The exclamation points are a nice touch.

Naturally, Suh post was retweeted over 100 times, and there’s little doubt many of those echoes from the computers of Detroit Lions fans.

However, because of Suh’s frustration, as witnessed by the #BIGFAIL hash tag, he’ll likely receive yet another fine from NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell, someone who doesn’t take Twitter sass lightly. Of course, because of the NFL’s stringent Twitter rules, there isn’t much criticism from the players to begin with.

It will be interesting to see how Suh’s social media outburst will be treated by the NFL’s leaders.

Suh’s reaction is just one of the too-many-to-count examples of how professional athletes embrace the social media revolution. Whether or not Suh does get fined for his reaction, it’s very doubtful it will have any impact on how NFL players use services like Twitter and Facebook in the future.

Besides, Suh could always take the Kenny Britt route and claim his account was hacked, but, and this is just a guess based on what little I know of Suh’s character, he’ll likely stand behind his response to the “donation” he now has to deposit into the NFL’s rules violation account.

Just don’t be surprised if Suh’s defiance is responsible for an additional “donation.”

  • Lions Star Ndamukong Suh Officially Breaks Twitter Record

Lions Star Ndamukong Suh Officially Breaks Twitter Record

In April, Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh held a tweetup at the Nebraska Cornhuskers spring game, with the goal of brewing the Guinness World Record for most attendees at a tweetup. This was made more interesting by the fact that the record holder was Scott Monty – Ford’s social media guy and that the Detroit Lions are owned by William Clay Ford, grandson of Henry Ford and son of Edsel Ford.

Suh tweeted after the event that he did in fact break the record, but Guinness World Records had not made it official, saying that evidence would need to be submitted and reviewed.

Suh tweeted this week that it has now been made official.

    Ndamudkong Suh Tweetup Record Certificate

He is apparently so proud of the accomplishment that he changed his Twitter bio to read “Detroit Lions Defensive Tackle and Guinness World Record Holder for World’s Largest Tweetup! #SUHTweetup”.

Personally, I’m looking more forward to the accomplishments he is destined to rack up on the field with his new fellow tackle Nick Fairley (provided there is an NFL season).

Interestingly, Monty is still listed as the record holder on the Guinness World Records site. They might want to get that update before SUH gets angry:
