  • Ariana Grande: ‘Cosmo’s’ February Cover Girl

Ariana Grande celebrated the dawn of 2014 during a performance in Hollywood on Tuesday night, and she also celebrates her womanhood–all 20 years of it–on the cover of Cosmopolitan’s February issue. Inside its pages she talks about being an ‘old soul’ and how ex-boyfriend Nathan Sykes from The Wanted won her over in a very old-fashioned way.

“I think I’m an old soul. What excites younger people doesn’t excite me… I’m kind of a boring, normal girl who likes Harry Potter and to sit in her pajamas and sing. A lot of my friends are partiers, but I’ve never really clicked with that. I like Barbra Streisand, and when was the last time you saw Babs getting, like, turnt up? That’s kind of the road that I, as a lady, would like to go down,” she says in her interview.

Good for Ariana! At 20 years old she should be waiting for young men to woo her romantically. There’s no reason for young women her age to be flaunting themselves in clubs or parties.

Ariana Grande is clearly way too busy to be dating anyway. Her debut album Yours Truly has kept her on the go since its release. She isn’t caught up in the self-centered aspects of stardom, however, and is mindful of her adoring fans.

She recently got in trouble at an Amsterdam airport when she was mobbed by those fans, however.

“I never want to be the person who avoids my own fans, so I always try to stop and say hi,” she says. “But it turned into a big mosh of people, and it became quite dangerous. I got sent to the police station, and they told me not to come back to that airport!”

Once tucked safely inside her hotel room, she was cautioned about going outside.

“I just went out anyway,” she says. “I said, ‘You can’t stop me!’ That’s one thing to get in trouble for: loving your fans too much.”

Despite her exciting life, Ariana admits that traveling all the time does have its drawbacks. Tuesday night found her in Hollywood, performing on Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Years Eve special.

“I didn’t know that I was capable of going to so many places in so few days,” she says. “It’s really hard for me and my friend Alexa, because she’s in school and she doesn’t have the flexibility to come visit me on the road whenever she wants. But whenever she’s on break, I try to fly her in and keep her with me as long as I can. It’s funny; one time I tweeted her school in Gainesville, like, ‘I’m keeping Alexa!’ And they tweeted me back: ‘All right. Make sure she does her homework.’”

Hopefully this former Nickelodeon star (Ariana is known for her role as Cat Valentine in the Nick shows Victorious and Sam & Cat) stays as sweet and as old a soul as she currently is. The Hollywood life can eat a young performer alive or send them spiraling in a bad direction. It would be nice to see Ariana Grande soar to the top without changing her image or selling herself short.

In the meantime she certainly looks gorgeous on that Cosmo cover.

  • Ariana Grande Dishes About Her First Date With Nathan Sykes

Although most would believe the majority of boy band members probably live up to their ‘bad boy’ reputations, singer-actress Ariana Grande tells a different story. According to ABC News, Grande recently sat down with Cosmopolitan to gush about her romantic first date with ‘The Wanted’ pop star Nathan Sykes.

She revealed that Sykes was quite the chivalrous romantic. “We were going back to his hotel to watch a movie, and he had Ladurée macaroons and sunflowers waiting,” she told Cosmopolitan for the February 2014 issue. “I love Parisian baked goods, and sunflowers are my favorite flower.”

Grande also revealed that the “Glad You Came” singer was highly respectful, making a lauded first impression. “He had taken the DVD player out of the bedroom and into the living room, because he said he didn’t want to take me into the bedroom on the first date.”

While their date went extremely well, it actually leaves some fans confused, as most assumed that she and Sykes had ‘broken up’. According to E! News, earlier this month, Grande was asked by a Florida DJ about the nature of her relationship with Sykes.

She informed the DJ, in so many words, that he was ‘a little behind’ with the latest news when Sykes was referred to as her ‘boyfriend’. However, her evasive answer could have went one of two ways, meaning that the two were actually dating, as opposed to going separate ways. But, nevertheless, it appears the two are indeed dating, and are off to an excellent start.

Although the two enjoyed their romantic date, Grande also expressed her wariness about going public with personal relationships.  “Sometimes people get too fixated on what people are going to say,” she says, recalling the backlash she received after posting an Instagram picture of a friendly kiss she received from former tour-mate Justin Bieber. “At the end of the day, you’re in a relationship because you love that person, not because of what other people think.”

Hopefully her reservations have no bearing on the future of their relationship!

  • Ariana Grande Talks First Date In Cosmo Interview

Ariana Grande and The Wanted’s Nathan Sykes recently ended their short-lived fling. However, Grande recently opened up, in the new issue of Cosmopolitan, about their very first date.

“We were going back to his hotel to watch a movie,” she said of their first date. “He had Ladurée macarons and sunflowers waiting — I love Parisian baked goods, and sunflowers are my favorite flower. He had taken the DVD player out of the bedroom and into the living room, because he said he didn’t want to take me into the bedroom on the first date.”

So why did Grande end her relationship with the sweetheart? A source, close to the couple, revealed to US Weekly the reason behind their split. “They just weren’t into it anymore,” the insider said.

Grande also talked about how different her lifestyle is compared to her friends her age. “A lot of my friends are partiers,” she adds, “but I’ve never really clicked with that. I like Barbra Streisand, and when was the last time you saw Babs getting, like, turnt up? That’s kind of the road that I, as a lady, would like to go down.”

Grande was even able to avoid corruption by Miley Cyrus. In a recent interview, Cyrus reveals she tried to get Grande to go on stage with her to help make Grande’s appearance “less sweet”. “I was backstage with Ariana Grande. I’m like, ‘Walk out with me right now and get this picture, and this will be the best thing that happens to you, because just you associating with me makes you a little less sweet,’” Cyrus said.
