  • Natalie Wood: Diary Reportedly Uncovers Wild Affair With Actor

Natalie Wood died tragically in 1981 after allegedly falling overboard from the yacht she was on with her husband, Robert Wagner, but the mystery surrounding her death is equal to the one surrounding her life; now, the National Enquirer claims to have uncovered a journal written by the actress that details an “explosive” affair with actor Warren Beatty, which may have led to a suicide attempt on her part.

“Neither Warren nor I was ready for a permanent relationship. Although our romance lasted approximately two years, our affair was a ‘collision’ — a combination three-ring circus and five-alarm fire,” Wood allegedly wrote in a journal.

According to a 2002 book about Beatty’s life by Ellis Amburn, Wood’s breaking point came when Beatty allegedly tried to seduce Natalie’s 16-year old sister, which was the actress’s breaking point. She later reportedly overdosed on pills, but recovered after a friend rushed her to the hospital.

In recent years, the investigation surrounding Wood’s death has been reopened after new information came to light about the night she fell from the boat. Earlier this month, news broke that a former FBI agent claims he and Natalie were in love, and that Wagner had found out about their affair, which caused a violent argument between the couple the night she died. Wagner has been suspected by some as having a hand in her death in the past but was never charged; after the autopsy report was given a second look in 2013, officials declared the marks on Wood’s body–which was found floating in the waters of Catalina Island–to be inconsistent with those from a fall.

“The location of the bruises, the multiplicity of the bruises, lack of head trauma, or facial bruising support bruising having occurred prior to entry in the water,” reads the amended report.

“Mr Wagner has fully co-operated over the last 30 years in the investigation of the accidental drowning of his wife,” his lawyer said in a statement.

  • Robert Wagner: Did He Fight With Natalie Wood Over an Affair the Night She Died?

Robert Wagner has long denied that he had any involvement with the death of his wife Natalie Wood. Way back in 1981, Wood’s death was ruled an accidental drowning and the case was closed. Things heated up again in 2011, 30 years after Wood’s death, when new information came to light that seemed to cast doubt on Robert Wagner’s story.

While most people have certainly heard of Natalie Wood — and most know that she drowned — the known details of her death usually get passed over. The official story is that Natalie Wood and her husband Robert Wagner were on their yacht, along with actor Christopher Walken, who was starring in a movie with Natalie Wood at the time. Also along for the trip was the captain of the boat, Dennis Davern.

Back in 1981, the public was told that Wood’s body was found by police at 8:00 a.m. the morning of November 29, 1981. She was floating in he water about a mile away from where the yacht was moored near Catalina Island. There was a small inflatable dinghy beached nearby.

An autopsy revealed that Wood’s blood alcohol level was 0.14% and she had medications in her system that would have increased the effects of alcohol. It also said that she had bruises on her body and arms and an abrasion on her left cheek.

The theory of the day was that Wood tried to get in the dinghy to leave the yacht, and slipped into the water. In her inebriated state, she could not get back up and succumbed to hypothermia and drowned.

Then, in 2011, the captain of the boat said that he had withheld information that Wood’s husband Robert Wagner had been fighting with her. This was the bombshell that reopened the 30-year-old case and led to another examiner amending the original cause of death to now read “Drowning and other undetermined factors.”

But still, Wagner was not implicated in Wood’s death, despite Davern’s insistence that he was to blame.

Now The Enquirer reports that a former FBI agent has come forth claiming that he and Natalie Wood had an ongoing affair that some say may have been the cause of the alleged fight between Wood and Robert Wagner that night. The theory is that it was this argument that caused a physical altercation, and eventually led to Wood trying to leave the boat drunk.

“We were in love with each other,” former FBI agent Dennis Wilson told the magazine. Wilson said he met Wood in Idaho in 1973, and that had been in a secret relationship since.

“She told me her presence in Idaho was a spur-of-the-moment trip in an effort to distance herself from her husband,” Wilson said. Wood and Robert Wagner had married in 1957 and divorced in 1962. But they remarried in 1971 — two years before she allegedly met and got involved with Wilson — and remained married until her death in 1981.

  • Robert Wagner: Suspect In Natalie Wood’s Death?

Robert Wagner, the actor some might know as Number Two in the “Austin Powers” films, has said he refuses to comment or talk to police any more about his wife Natalie’s 1981 death.

When Natalie Wood’s body was found floating in an area off Catalina Island after allegedly falling off the yacht she shared with Wagner, it was assumed she’d had too much to drink and had gone overboard in a terrible accident. But when later details came to light by the captain–such as an argument between Wood and Wagner and a possible disagreement with their guest that night, actor Christopher Walken–police deemed her death “suspicious”. Recently, a new look at her autopsy report has caused officials to question whether her death was an accident, as multiple bruises were found around her wrists, ankles, and knees which are inconsistent with a fall.

“The location of the bruises, the multiplicity of the bruises, lack of head trauma, or facial bruising support bruising having occurred prior to entry in the water,” reads the amended report.

Wagner seems to have said all he’s going to say on the matter and is not cooperating with police, who say he’s not officially a suspect as of yet.

“Mr Wagner has fully co-operated over the last 30 years in the investigation of the accidental drowning of his wife,” his lawyer said in a statement.

  • Natalie Wood: Death Changed From Accidental

Natalie Wood was one of the most popular film stars of her generation; with her huge dark eyes and creamy skin, her beauty was enough to capture James Dean’s heart in “Rebel Without A Cause”. Her innocence shone through on the big screen, leaving her vulnerable and relatable. When she died mysteriously after a night of partying on a yacht with two other huge stars of the day, the world was shocked and grief-stricken. Now, her death has been changed from “accidental” by investigators to “drowning and other undetermined factors” as her case is reopened.

The night she died in 1981, Wood was on a yacht with her husband, Robert Wagner, and their good friend Christopher Walken. Wagner told police he was arguing with Walken and that after Walken went to bed for the night, he realized Wood was nowhere to be found. A brief inspection of the boat led him to discover the dinghy was also missing. The ship’s captain claimed later that Wagner was arguing with Wood–not Walken–and that he was sure Wagner was responsible for her death.

Wood’s body was later found in a Catalina cove, dressed in a nightgown, jacket, and socks; she was heavily bruised and had suffered a laceration to the face. Investigators determined she had been drinking and must have slipped while trying to access the dinghy.

Although Wagner has never been considered a suspect in her death, officials have reopened the case and are adamant about finding out how she ended up on Catalina Island and say they aren’t satisfied with the conflicting stories from the people she was last seen with.

“We don’t close these cases,” Chief Detective William McSweeney said. “These cases have active periods and more passive periods. We’re moving toward the end of an active period.”

  • Natalie Wood: Death Certificate Changed from Accident to Undetermined

Natalie Wood’s death certificate was recently changed from “accident” to “undetermined”, according to the folks at TMZ. On Friday, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department says that an investigation in the actress’ death is currently “open and ongoing”. The bruises found on Wood’s body were reportedly inconsistent with those generally associated with drowning victims. As such, investigators currently cannot say whether or not the actress’ death was just an accident.

“We have received many calls from the news media today asking about the status of the Natalie Wood death investigation case,” the department said in a statement. “It remains an open and ongoing investigation. There are no further details.” The coroner’s department, meanwhile, said that the case is currently on “security hold”.

Natalie Wood drowned while vacationing off the coast of Southern California on November 29th, 1981, following a heated argument with her husband Robert Wagner. Wood, who had reportedly downed quite a few classes of wine before the incident, is thought to have attempted to depart from the boat via a rubber dingy. At some point, Wood tumbled into the water and drowned, though neither Wagner nor friend Christopher Walken were aware that she had fallen into the water.

Last November, yacht captain Dennis Davern released “Goodbye Natalie, Goodbye Splendour”, a tell-all book which recounted that fateful evening’s mysterious events. Although the sheriff’s department reopened their investigation into Wood’s death around the same time, authorities claim that Davern’s book had little to no impact on their decision to revisit the case.

Although the investigation is ongoing, TMZ has learned that Wagner is not a suspect.
