  • Aaron Hernandez Charged With Boston Double-Murder

Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez this week was charged with two counts of first-degree murder for a 2012 double-murder in Boston. A grand jury released the indictments on Thursday.

The charges stem from murders that took place in July 2012. Hernandez is accused of shooting and killing Daniel Jorge Correia de Abreu and Safiro Teixeira Furtado, both immigrants living in Dorchester, Massachusetts.

Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel Conley announced the indictment on Thursday, stating that police and prosecutors have been investigating the murders for two years.

According to Conley, Hernandez had met Abreu and Furtado at a club called Cure in the early morning hours of July 16, 2012. The two men were later shot and killed while waiting at a traffic light on Boston’s Shawmut Avenue. Prosecutors allege that Hernandez had followed the victims from the club before pulling alongside their vehicle and firing a .38 caliber revolver into the vehicle.

In addition to the two murder charges, Hernandez has also been charged three counts of armed assault with intent to murder, one count of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, and one count of illegally possessing the handgun used in the shooting. Three passengers in the vehicle with Abreu and Furtado survived the shooting, one of whom was injured.

““For us, this case was never about Aaron Hernandez,” said Conley. “This case was about two victims who were stalked, ambushed, and senselessly murdered on the streets of the city they called home. I assigned this case to First Assistant DA Patrick Haggan on the very morning of their murders – not because we knew where the evidence would take us, but because it was a double homicide with few leads and well-suited to his strengths as a prosecutor.”

Conley made it clear that prosecutors have a strong case against Hernandez. More than two dozen witnesses testified before the grand jury. In addition, both the car Hernandez was driving the night and the murder weapon were recovered from people close to Hernandez.

Hernandez is already in jail, pending trial for the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd. Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to that charge.

  • Charles Manson Getting Married To Follower

Charles Manson has long been known as a notorious killer and psychopath. He led one of the most gruesome murders in history, when he sent his prominently female followers to kill eight people, including the movie star, Sharron Tate.

In the 1960s, Manson was the leader of a cult known as, The Family. His followers hung on every word Manson had to say, and did anything he told them to do, including murder. Manson, to this day, claims he is innocent of murder because he didn’t actually participate. However, he brainwashed his followers and facilitated each and every murder. Manson was convicted of murder and will be serving the rest of his life in California’s Corcoran State Prison.

Rolling Stone recently conducted a very lengthy interview with Manson, where he discussed his experimentation with bisexuality, the infamous murders, and his new love, Star.

Star, the name given to her by Manson himself, has followed Manson’s story since she was a teenager, and moved just miles from the prison, he is being held in, when she was 19. She claims that they are in love and will, one day, be married. She also says she doesn’t care about what happened in the past…that she loves him anyway.

“I do not give one f— whatsoever about 1969, personally,” Star says. “That bitch was f—— crazy (recalling Susan Atkins, one of Manson’s followers). She was a crazy f—— whore. ‘Oh, Charlie, I did this for you.’ She didn’t know what she was doing. That girl was just a piece of sh–, a whore, and just plain f—— crazy psycho.”

Star has been running multiple websites in hopes of getting Manson released from prison. She recently carved an X in her forehead, as did most of Manson’s followers, to match the swastika he has on his forehead. “Yeah, well, people can think I’m crazy,” she said. “But they don’t know. This is what’s right for me. This is what I was born for.”

Star is convinced that she and Manson will be getting married soon, however Manson doesn’t seem to agree.

“I’ll tell you straight up, Charlie and I are going to get married,” she said. “‘When that will be, we don’t know. But I take it very seriously. Charlie is my husband. Charlie told me to tell you this. We haven’t told anybody about that.”

Manson’s response to his impending marriage? “Oh, that,” he says. “That’s a bunch of garbage. You know that, man. That’s trash. We’re just playing that for public consumption.”

If it’s just public consumption, Star sure doesn’t realize it. She is firm in saying they will be married. She visits him every Saturday and Sunday, and says she hopes one day they will get conjugal visits. “I just want to be alone,” she said. “I don’t want to be always in that visiting room with people staring at me. But that’s the only time I get to see him, in that room, with people staring. It’s hard. But things change, you know. And who knows what could happen?”

  • Nurse Admits Murdering 11 Elderly Patients

Nurse Admits Murdering 11 Elderly Patients

An Australian man this week pleaded guilty to murdering 11 elderly residents of a nursing home where he worked briefly in 2011.

According to an Australian Associated Press report, 37-year-old Roger Dean admitted during his Australian Supreme Court trial to setting a fire that killed 11 residents of the Quakers Hill nursing home in Sydney. Dean started the fire in the early morning hours of November 18, 2011 by lighting an empty bed in the nursing home.

Some of the eleven residents who died were unable to move without assistance. In addition to the murder charges, Dean also pleaded guilty to injuring eight other nursing home residents in the fire.

The AAP report also states that Dean admitted taking prescription drugs from the nursing home. He had apparently been caught on a security camera entering a medication a storage room multiple times. The incident was reported, but police were not able to arrive immediately. Dean started the fire soon after, and then played the part of rescuer by helping some residents escape the flames. During the chaos, Dean managed to steal the facility’s drug logs, which he later destroyed.

  • Tsarnaev 2011 Murders: Possible Link To 9/11 Triple Murder Case

Another story has been added to the Boston Marathon bombing that occurred in April, as one of the suspects, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, is being investigated in connection with a triple homicide that happened in 2011. The murder took place on the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, in an apartment in Waltham, MA.

Tsarnaev has multiple links to the case. First, he was known to be close friends with one of the vicitms, Brendan Mess. According to the investigations, Tamerlan’s cell phone was used near the murder scene, around the time the murders occurred. His fingerprints were found on the scene as well. All of this evidence has lead investigators to dig further into Tsarnaev’s involvement.

There has been no official arrest, due to the evidence not putting Tsarnaev at the apartment when the crime took place. The murders were unusual, as two of the victims had their throats slit and were found together. Mess, Tsarnaev’s friend was found away from the other two bodies, and investigators believed he was killed during a physical struggle. Marijuana was sprinkled over the two bodies whose throat was slit as well.

Unfortunately, beyond the evidence above, nothing concrete has been found in terms of establishing a primary suspect, or motive. There are many theories surrounding the case, including money, or the killings being used to send a message. None of the DNA investigation has provided anything substantial in providing a suspect at the scene of the crime.

The Boston Globe originally broke the story in April, though the latest details have just started rolling in this week.
