  • Charlie Sheen To Star In Inspirational Movie About 9/11 Alongside Whoopi Goldberg

Actor Charlie Sheen is due to star in a drama set during the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Sheen and Whoopi Goldberg will play two of the five people trapped in an elevator at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

The movie called Nine Eleven is Sheen’s first movie project since revealing he is HIV-positive in November. The drama will be directed by Martin Guigui, who also co-wrote the script with Steven Golebiowski, Variety confirmed.

“We are immensely grateful to bring this inspirational story to life. Nine Eleven is a highly emotional journey and it took a dynamic bunch to collectively come together to make this unique film happen,” Guigui said.

“I feel deeply connected to the material and I’m so excited to be working with my dear friend Whoopi Goldberg,” Sheen, 50, said of the movie.

Sheen is a known 9/11 conspiracy theorist who had raised questions about the truth surrounding the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the past.

In a radio interview in 2006, he suggested that the World Trade Center had fallen not because of the impact caused by the airplanes that smashed into the building but because of a “controlled demolition.”

“We’re not the conspiracy theorists on this issue. It seems to me like 19 amateurs with box cutters taking over four commercial airliners and hitting 75 per cent of the targets – that feels like a conspiracy theory,” Charlie Sheen said at the time.

Sheen also spoke about 9/11 at the Neo-Con Agenda, a meeting of neoconservatives who believe in 9/11 conspiracy theories and urge people to join them in seeing the truth.

Luis Guzman, Olga Fonda, and Wood Harris are reportedly joining Charlie Sheen and Whoopi Goldberg in the movie, which began shooting on Monday at Thunder Studios in Long Beach, California.

  • Daisy Ridley Feels The Love From ‘Star Wars’ Fans, Actress Overwhelmed

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is considered one of the most successful movies in the history of filmmaking, and to be part of it is a huge honor for any actor.

For newcomer Daisy Ridley, being part of the newest Star Wars installment has made a huge impact on her career and her life. In an interview with Cinemablend, Ridley admitted that she did not understand why people are crazy over the film before she took on the role of the female heroine, Rey, and witnessed Star Wars convention this year.

“It’s weird for me. It didn’t really have a huge impact on my life – obviously now it does. Being behind [the curtain] and hearing the screams for J.J. [Abrams] and Kathy [Kennedy], I was like, ‘Oh my goodness.” Stepping out on stage, this wave of love – this intense love,” Daisy Ridley described her experience with the fans of the movie. She continued, “And that’s the wonderful thing. Even the baddies, people love them in a really pure way. And the people who love the goodies don’t hate the people who love the baddies… it’s just all this wonderful thing! And to be a part of that, the energy in that room. Amazing.”

Daisy Ridley Speaks Of Her First Experience With Meeting Star Wars Fans

Ridley admitted she could not believe how the movie has influenced many people from the moment it first hit the theaters up until now with Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The actress believes it will continue to grow and touch the lives of future generations. Meanwhile, Star Wars fanatics took to Twitter to ask The Force Awakens cast anything they wanted to know about the movie. One Twitter user asked what lessons his young daughter will learn from the movie.

Daisy Ridley, a.k.a. Rey answered saying “try and do the right thing, always.”

The Force Awakens will be shown in theaters Friday, December 18.

  • Tina Fey Shares Secret To Her Friendship With Amy Poehler

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler who have been good friends since their SNL days play sisters in their newest film.

The comic duo is back together for the movie Sisters, which premiered on Tuesday evening. Fey and Poehler hit the New York red carpet in equally gorgeous sheer black numbers.

“Amy and I vow to make a movie every seven years until we make 100 movies,” Fey said, referring to their last project together “Baby Mama,” which came out in 2008. “Or we lose a pact with the devil and one of us ages,” Poehler quipped.

Sisters follows the lives of two sisters who hold a grand party one last time before selling their family home. Fey plays Kate, the wild child sister who wants to get her recently divorced sister Maura – played by Poehler – back in the dating game.

Tina Fey And Amy Poehler Play Sisters With Opposite Personalities

Tina Fey is also producing the movie, which is based on a script penned by SNL writer Paula Pell. “We all worked together at SNL for a long time,” Tina Fey shared during the premiere. “(Paula) would bring these old spiral notebooks that were her journals she found from the eighth or ninth or 10th grade, and they were hilarious. She was such a specific, sweet, nerdy child in her youth. The basis of her movie is her relationships with her sister, who was very different.”

Fey and Poehler became friends on the set of SNL more than a decade ago and have developed a “sisterly” bond after collaborating on several projects over the years. When asked about the secret behind their friendship, Tina Fey quickly said: “Every five years we go to a state park and we spend a week there naked.”

“If we survive we’re still friends,” the 45-year-old actress added.

Starring alongside Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are wrestler John Cena, who plays a local drug dealer in the film, and more SNL ladies Rachel Dratch, Kate McKinnon, and Maya Rudolph. The movie is slated for release on December 18.

  • Elizabeth Banks To Direct Third ‘Pitch Perfect’ Installment

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Banks will work behind the scenes as director with Kay Cannon as scriptwriter.

Barden Bellas Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Brittany Snow will also return to the film. Cineplex and fans of the musical comedy series tweeted their excitement over the news.

Banks expressed how she feels about being a female director, sexism in Hollywood, and why she wants to be able to direct films in an interview with Katie Couric on Yahoo!, saying “I wanted to use more of myself and my abilities and have more control over the stories I was telling.”

When asked why there are so few women directing, she said: “Parity in Hollywood is going to require that those in power share a little bit of that power. And that requires a partnership with the men in our industry.”

When asked about the most badass thing she has ever done she said “Directing a movie as a woman is pretty badass,” encouraging women to direct films as there is currently a small number of female directors in Hollywood.

Banks debuted as a director for Pitch Perfect 2 which earned $69 million in its first weekend in May. As such, it made the movie the highest grossing debut for a first-time director. It went on to earn $285 million worldwide, while the 2012 Pitch Perfect movie, which was based from Mickey Rapkin’s book Pitch Perfect: The Quest for Collegiate A Cappella Glory, grossed $113 million worldwide.

Delevingne will play the role of June Moone whom she describes as “an adventure seeker who’s always wanted some excitement.” She added, “And she gets what she wished for, but in a terrible way.

At the start of the movie she discovers a cavern and finds… something… within.”

What made Delevingne look more terrifying is the disturbed look on her face. Her emaciated and pale face featured a sharp gaze that was made all the more terrifying by black liner that highlighted her expressive eyes.

In her interview with Empire magazine, Delevingne explains who the Enchantress is. However, it is still not clear whether her character will be a hero or an enemy as June Moone first used her powers for good but her selfish desires will put her in a dilemma.

“She’s an ancient sorceress, a feral being. She’s been trapped for so long and now she’s finally let out,” the Paper Towns actress said.

When asked to compare her characters the Enchantress and alter ego June Moone, the model turned actress said: “I’d gather the accent, which is deeper and posher than June’s. And I’d last Nick Cave’s Red Right Hand, that song about the devil. Also a lot of Megadeth. Just evil stuff.”

The film stars Jared Leto as the Joker, Will Smith as Deadshot, and Margo Robbie as Harley Quinn. Suicide Squad will hit theaters in August 2016.

  • Winona Ryder Confident About ‘Beetlejuice’ Sequel

Great news for the Beetlejuice fans who are wondering what happened to the characters of the film. Winona Ryder confirmed that a sequel to Beetlejuice is finally happening.

Ryder made the announcement when she appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Monday to promote her new project Experimenter.

“I think I can confirm it,” said Ryder. “It was very hush-hush top secret … but then (Tim Burton) was doing some press for ‘Big Eyes’ and and he did an on-camera interview and he said, ‘Oh yeah, we’re doing it, and Winona’s going to be in it.’ … If he said it, I can say it.”

The Experimenter actress confirmed the news but admitted she did not know much of the details although Tim Burton is now working on it.

Burton, in an interview last December disclosed the possibility of a part two for Beetlejuice and was quoted saying that a follow-up is “closer than ever”. He also added that Michael Keaton will be in it.

“There’s only one Beetlejuice, and that’s Michael. There is a script, and I would love to work with him again. I think there is now a better chance than ever,” Burton shared. “I miss that character. There’s something that’s cathartic and amazing about it. I think it’s closer than ever.”

Ryder also revealed that she still gets asked by some people to say “Beetlejuice” three times. “I have not been let through security unless I said (Beetlejuice),” the actress said laughingly while referring to requests made by fans of the movie in the TSA whenever she passes through airport security.

It has been more than 27 years since the film was shown in theaters and fans are excited about how “part two” will turn out. Will the sequel get the new generation to chant “Beetlejuice”?

  • Mamie Gummer Acts Mean To Mother Meryl Streep On Camera

Mamie Gummer Acts Mean To Mother Meryl Streep On Camera

Mamie Gummer had her worries with acting mean towards her mother. The actress talks about her film with Oscar-winning actress and real life mother Meryl Streep.

The two appear together in the film Ricki and the Flash with Rick Springfield as Meryl Streep’s love interest and bandmate.

Gummer said, “It was a little bit troubling to look at the person that you love most in the world and just…” Gummer gesture something like clawing. “It was a little bit alarming how quickly that all was accessed, and I was worried that I would be wounding to her in some way” she added.

Being the professional actress that she is, Meryl Streep was rather proud of her daughter as quoted by US Daily, “I was blown away. I’m not objective — I think she’s fantastic. … But I think other people have corroborated that.”

The film Ricki and the Flash tells the story of a rock star mom played by Meryl Streep, who constantly reaches out to her estranged daughter played by Mamie Gummer.

The real life mother and daughter first appeared together in the movie Heartburn, which was released in 1986. Gummer was a baby then. Twenty-nine years after, the two collaborate once again on the big screen.

On her experience working with her mother, Gummer said, “It was a wonderful and quite profound experience.”

“[The best thing about working with my mom] is the shorthand, I guess. And also how respectful she is of everyone on a project. It makes for a really pleasant experience,” she said during the premiere.

Meryl Streep also told reporters during their film’s New York premiere, “I’m very proud of all my children—all my daughters and my son—yeah. It’s not just her. I’ve got some stars at home too.”

  • Avengers: Age Of Ultron Has Second Biggest Box Office Opening Ever

Avengers: Age Of Ultron Has Second Biggest Box Office Opening Ever

It’s a unique case of second-best still being great.

Avengers: Age of Ultron smashed the box-office this weekend with a whopping $187.7 million opening sales, garnering the honor of having the second-best debut weekend of all time.

The number one spot is still being held by its predecessor The Avengers, which set the bar impossibly high when it earned $207.4 million when it opened in 2012.

Executives over at Disney are understandably still ecstatic with the way the follow-up to The Avengers has performed, especially since they went up against 3 major sporting events – the Kentucky Derby, game 7 between the Spurs and the Clippers and the highly-anticipated fight between Mayweather and Pacquaio.

Dave Hollis, Disney’s head of distribution has acknowledged that “we’re in a rare air here.”

“Having the second biggest opening weekend in the history of the movie business is always going to be something you walk away overwhelmingly happy with,” he added.

But Age of Ultron does pick up the honor of having the biggest debut for a sequel. Its opening weekend has eclipsed Iron Man 3’s $174.1 million opening salvo in 2013.

The Joss Whedon helmed movie sees superheroes Black Widow (Scarlett Johnasson), Captain America (Chris Evans), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner),  Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) go up against technological villain Ultron (voiced by the amazing James Spader). New characters Wanda and Pietro Maximoff, also known as the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, are also introduced. They’re played by Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson respectively.

The latest offering from the House of the Mouse heralds the start of the summer season and insiders are hopeful that it’s a sign of good things to come.

A robust summer offering that boast of movies like “Ant-Man,” “Jurassic World,” “Pitch Perfect 2”and “Magic Mike XXL” should come up with good numbers and help the industry recover from last year’s dismal performance.

Sofia also posted a clip of the two of them singing Swift’s song and captioned it as “Lunch brake” – a clear reference to how they spent their lunch hour in between promotional work on their movie.

They were said to have had an ongoing contest on who can bring the most delicious baked goods on the set. The duo have also posted goofy selfies together, were seen hanging out with Sofia’s boyfriend and even photographed relaxing on a couch during a phone interview.

Hot Pursuit is about a klutzy police officer (Reese)who is tasked to protect the sexy widow of a drug dealer (Sofia). The unlikely pair is forced to run from criminals and corrupt policemen and engage in all sorts of tricks in order to reach the safety of a Dallas courtroom.

  • Kurt Russell’s Role In ‘Fast And Furious 7’ Suggests A New Direction For Franchise

Fast & Furious 7 ripped through the box office furiously this week, garnering a staggering $384 million in sales worldwide.

The latest in the Fast franchise has been widely anticipated by fans not just for the ridiculously amazing car scenes (which are to be expected), but also for how it handled the late Paul Walker’s character.

Moviegoers got more than that with the introduction of new favorite Mr. Nobody, portrayed by Kurt Russell.

Russell’s character in Fast & Furious 7 is so enigmatic that he literally has no name! He’s a Nobody with some serious connections in the government and who can just swoop down in the midst of the action just to make it his own.

The character is not just some bureaucrat in the office either. Mr. Nobody orchestrates and funds that pretty complex mission of acquiring a sports car from the top of a Dubai superstructure. The government spook even joins our protagonists in taking down Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw.

Russell is the perfect actor to portray Mr. Nobody. The 63-year-old actor has got the looks and the charm. Plus he’s no stranger to action movies, having portrayed anti-hero Snake Plissken in Escape from New York and Escape from LA.

With those credentials, it’s no wonder that Russell was given a lot of screen time and Dwayne Johnson’s character Luke Hobbs mostly sat out the action scenes.

Fans are saying it’s a sign that the franchise is going to go in another direction. For while Johnson’s character was very effective in reviving the flagging franchise, it seems like it’s time to pass the baton to Mr. Nobody.

Star Vin Diesel alluded as much. In a recent interview, the buff star mentioned that Russell’s character will be more fleshed out in the next movie and that Furious 8 might be set in New York.

Aside from Russell’s character, there have also been reports that the next Fast & Furious will also see another familiar face in the foray. Actress Eva Mendes is said to be reprising her role as US Customs Agent Monica Fuentes.

Of course, these are all speculations right now but it does give fans something to chew on while they wait for the next installment of their favorite car-wrecking movie.

  • Julia Roberts Seals Deal To Make ‘Bat Kid’ Movie

Looking stunning while strutting down the red carpet on Monday, SAG Awards nominee Julia Roberts revealed on Extra that she’s a soccer mom and proud of it. During an interview with Mario Lopez, the Erin Brockovich star spoke about being supportive of her kids’ love for sports. “Oh I’ve been a soccer mom for a while but it’s soccer, basketball, aerial yoga – those are things that rule our home,” the actress said.

The actress was nominated for her emotional role in HBO’s The Normal Heart where she played Dr. Emma Brookner. Roberts eventually lost to fellow-HBO star Frances McDormand, who took home the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Miniseries award.

Roberts has three children: Henry, who is seven, and 10 year olds Hazel and Phinnaeus. Roberts went solo during the SAG Awards Ceremony as her husband, cameraman Daniel Moder, was out shooting a new picture. The Notting Hill star is gushing about her latest project which is based on the documentary Batkid Begins: The Wish Heart Around the World.

The documentary followed Miles Scott who was given a chance to become Batkid for one day thanks to the Make a Wish foundation. Along with the thousands of volunteers from the San Francisco area, the local government helped make Scott’s dream a reality by touring him around the city with his very own Batmobile. Scott was given a chance to fight Batman villains and solve crime around the city of “Gotham.”

Roberts seemed ecstatic with her new project, saying: “We were lucky enough to see this documentary and we loved it and we think that it would be a really beautiful movie.” The adaptation deal was sealed over the weekend, Deadline reports. Dana Nachman who directed the documentary is also on board the project, serving as executive producer. We’re expecting to hear more about this project over the coming months.

  • Amy Adams Dazzles In Fairy Tale Photoshoot For Vogue Cover

Gracing the cover of the latest issue of Vogue, Golden Globe winner Amy Adams took part in an eccentric photoshoot that had her dressed up as characters in fairy tales. On the cover, Adams wore a sheer black dress with leaf-patterned detail and her red hair swept to the side, but the American Hustle star also donned costumes for her fantasy-inspired fashion spread within the magazine’s pages.

One photo portrays Adams as an ice princess on top of a snowy mountain, while another photo shows her as a ballerina puppet being manipulated by director Tim Burton. Her latest film project, Big Eyes, was directed by Burton, who raved in the Vogue interview about what a nuanced actor Adams was. “She brought something so subtle to this; I am not used to dealing in subtlety. It almost felt like a silent movie sometimes,” said Burton.

Adams also revealed in the interview that she didn’t always find it easy to be an actor. She said that she was a “mess” during the first few years she tried to make it in Los Angeles. “I was able to do everything from day player to guest star to small parts in movies,” she said. “I felt a lot of pressure, but I just wasn’t able to get there in the audition room. Or even in meetings. My squirreliness would come out, and people wouldn’t feel confident. I’ve always been someone who had, like, a spirit of perseverance, but I actually almost quit because I was starting not to like who I was.”

Although Adams has had a prolific and successful career since her early days, she confessed that it didn’t prevent her from having a meltdown when she turned 40 in August of this year. “I was like, ‘I’m 40 and I still care what people think of me; I still don’t do laundry so I’m always out of things; I’m just not a grown-up at all,’ and I had this expectation that I would be by this age,” Adams said.

  • Tommy Lee Jones Makes Directorial Return With “The Homesman”

Tommy Lee Jones may just have made his own feminist take on the western. The western is an iconic genre that has been around since the early days of American cinema, and while it’s a genre that’s mostly peppered with hard-living cowboys and bounty hunters, it’s rare that we get to see the female perspective regarding the old west. The Homesman, Jones’ latest directorial effort, opts to shine the light on the plight of the average American female during the Wild West.

The Homesman is about Mary Lee Cuddy (played by Hilary Swank) who takes it upon herself to transport three women who were driven mad by the harsh realities of frontier life to the care of a woman in Iowa who has offered to take the women in. Cuddy and the three women are escorted by a deserter named George (played by Tommy Lee Jones) and together they face Native American tribes, freighters, and many other threats.

Jones claimed that he is not interested in the western as a genre. “What I do have an interest in is making movies about the history of my country, where I live. Anyone who wants to be an artist makes work about where he lives,” Jones said about the film’s style and subject matter. He added, “The Homesman isn’t a western movie, but a movie that is about the history of women in my family. I don’t think there is a woman around who hasn’t been objectified or trivialized because of her gender.”

Ever since debuting at Cannes, The Homesman garnered mixed to positive reviews. The New York Post praised Jones’ direction and called the film “a rare 21st-century Western without shootouts or explosions”.  Film blog The Playlist, however, called it a flawed but enjoyable film that still has its merits. According to the review, “It’s an odd enough bird that it’s more than worth the watch”.

  • Jennifer Aniston: Contender For Oscar Award With New Movie ‘Cake’

Her turn as a woman debilitated by chronic pain in the film Cake won her rave reviews at the Toronto International Film Festival, and Jennifer Aniston may yet have a chance at winning an Oscar for it. Cinelou Releasing will reportedly be letting Cake hit theaters for a one-week run in December, which will help the film—and Aniston—qualify for Academy Awards consideration. A wider release is planned for Cake in 2015.

Producers have revealed that Aniston was their only choice for the role when they first read the script. “When my life and producing partner Ben Barnz and I first read Cake just 14 months ago, we knew we had to go to Jennifer Aniston. It was the most obvious un-obvious choice—she’s mega-talented, but we’ve never seen the whole range of her extraordinary comic and dramatic abilities showcased in one role,” said Daniel Barnz, director and executive producer of Cake.

In the movie, Aniston tones down her glamorous looks to play a woman unconcerned about her appearance because she has to deal with chronic pain. Her character is seen wearing oversized sweaters and greasy hair, and has alienated most of the people around her with her foul mood, except for the housekeeper she pays to hang around, played by Adriana Barraza. Aniston’s performance in the film was reportedly praised by critics, and although the film received mixed reviews, it was given a standing ovation when it was shown at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Cake and Aniston’s performance may get even more praise as the film is distributed more widely when it hits theaters again next year in January. Because Cinelou Releasing reportedly has a pact with Warner Bros. to release six of its titles next year internationally, Aniston in Cake will be exposed to an international audience.

“We were very pleased with how Cake turned out and are excited about all the opportunities the film presents on multiple levels,” said Cinelou Films producer Courtney Solomon.

  • Megan Fox Promotes Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Amid Bad Reviews

In the face of more dismal reviews since the film’s launch, Megan Fox is keeping busy by promoting Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Fox was spotted on Sunday, October 26, at a press conference for the film in Beijing, China, along with co-star William Fichtner and movie producers.

All eyes at the Shangri-La hotel were reportedly on Fox, who showed up at the Chinese premiere in a short black dress paired with black-strapped heels. Fox was wearing her hair in loose waves and topped off her look with an orange eye mask, which she kept on her head instead of wearing over her eyes. The eye mask that Fox wore was similar to the masks worn by the crime-fighting turtles in the live action movie.

Beijing was supposedly one stop in a lineup of cities included in the global tour on which Fox and her colleagues embarked to promote Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Fox reportedly looked happy talking about the project at the press conference. Fox plays reporter April O’Neil in the film, a human liaison for the turtles. The film has successfully garnered $109 million since it opened recently.

Despite a successful international release for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the film is now facing bad reviews from critics. A review published in The Standard said that Fox had been “miscast as a smart cookie,” implying that her one strength was looking “pretty” in the film, and that the film was simply an origin story that lacked intellect and emotion.

The story of the film revolves around the plot of Shredder, the antagonist, working to take over New York. O’Neil, Fox’s character, then stumbles onto the four turtles, Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michaelangelo, who seem like the only creatures that can stop Shredder. “The new film diminishes whatever charm the plucky reptiles once had and settles for being just another dumb, mind-numbing action movie,” wrote a reviewer in Express.

  • Paul Reubens Confirms New Pee-Wee Movie. Again.

    “Paging Mr. Herman.”

Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure was way back in 1985. The follow-up, Big Top Pee-Wee, was a lackluster sequel that never really needed to happen. But the first one, that was pure gold.

“I know you are, but what am I?”

For years, people have been asking Paul Reubens when Pee-Wee is coming back to the big screen. And for years, Reubens has been yanking our chain.

Reubens admits to outright lying in interviews on the subject. Back in 2007, he teased about a Pee-Wee movie, but later acknowledged that he made the whole thing up.

“Well, here’s the thing,” he told Jimmy Kimmel, “I totally, during interviews, a lot of the time, lie. I make stuff up. The first time it ever happened, someone said ‘What are you doing next?’ And I said, ‘I’m building Pee-Wee Land.’ And it got printed and I started getting phone calls from investors. I made up on your show, and in a couple of other interviews, I was doing a Pee-Wee movie. So now everyone’s going, ‘When’s the movie coming out?’ And there’s isn’t a movie. It’s a little bit awkward.”

“But what? Everyone I know has a big ‘But.’ C’mon, Simone, let’s talk about *your* big ‘But’.”

Now, once again, Reubens is swearing up and down that a Pee-Wee movie is imminent. He dropped it on us again in a recent Rolling Stone interview,

“There’s going to be a big announcement any minute now,” Reubens promised. “It’s been months and months of being right on the verge of being announced… I thought something was going to go public yesterday, actually, and that you’d be the first person I’d be talking about this with. But I’m thinking there will be something made public very soon. It’s going to get made shortly after the new year. I wish I could tell you about it right now, because…I mean, it’s amazing. It’s going to be amazing. It think it first got leaked four years ago or so that the movie was going to be made, and ever since then it’s just been stalling and stalling. So I’m really ready for this to happen. But I’m not kidding: It’s very imminent.”

It got “leaked”? Don’t you mean, “I told everybody”?

We’ll see if this one’s the real deal. Maybe Reubens does this to gauge interest. If he can stir up enough dust one of these times, perhaps he can get a studio to bankroll the thing.

    I hope it works.

“Be sure and tell ‘em Large Marge sent ya!”

  • Key And Peele To Star In Stolen Cat Movie

The comedy due of Key & Peele is slated to hit the silver screen next year. Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele are set to star in their first joint project together: a movie about a stolen cat named Keanu. The film, aptly title Keanu, will be under New Line Cinema, with which Key and Peele also reportedly agreed to do a remake of Police Academy.

The story of Keanu is said to involve Key and Peele playing best friends who pretend they are drug dealers to infiltrate the criminal underworld, all because of a stolen cat. The script was reportedly written by Peele and Alex Rubens, writer for Key & Peele and Community. Rumors are circulating that Peter Atencio, director of Key & Peele, is in talks to direct the film, but no news has been confirmed.

Key and Peele will also be producing Keanu, along with their show’s producers, Peter Principato, Paul Young and Joel Zadak, keeping it all in the family of Key & Peele. Fans of the successful comedy show will have nothing to worry about, since Peele said, “None of our Key & Peele characters will be harmed in the making of this film.”

    — EBONY (@EBONYMag) October 21, 2014

Keanu will reportedly begin shooting in Los Angeles in April 2015. It will be overseen by New Line Cinema’s Senior Vice Presidents of Production Michael Disco and Sam Brown.

Key and Peele were trying to produce the film independently, revealed New Line President of Production Richard Brener, before they agreed to work with the studio. “We were happy that they were open to doing it at a studio, particularly ours. Everything they do is funny,” he said.

Key and Peele worked together on MAD TV and have been collaborating on sketches for Comedy Central. Besides Keanu, Key and Peele are also in talks for other film projects, such as the Police Academy reboot and an untitled Judd Apatow film.

  • Fifty Shades of Grey Film Releases New Photos, But Dornan Insists Film Won’t Be “Grotesque”

    “Oh my…”

Since July the trailer for the upcoming film Fifty Shades of Grey is the most-watched of 2014 with over 36 million views. The film is based on the best-selling book by E.L. James which has sold more than 100 million copies and has been translated into 52 different languages.

As badly written as the book is, it has gained a huge following worldwide and many readers are antici…pating the release of the film which stars Jamie Dornan (Once Upon a Time) and Dakota Johnson (The Social Network, 21 Jump Street).

Last week the Fifty Shades of Grey Twitter account released another promotional photo to taunt fans, although the picture were quite tame. However, like most readers of the book know, it’s what is behind closed doors that matters.

The first photo shoes Anastasia Steele (Johnson) deep in thought with a “Grey” pencil resting on her lower lip. (Even those who haven’t read the book can guess about the hints behind this one.) The photo was in celebration of the character’s birthday.

In June, the promotional Twitter account also released a picture of Christian Grey in celebration of his birthday. Again, the photo is tame – except for what is behind Mr. Grey’s eyes.

But despite of the content of the first book of the erotic trilogy, actor Jamie Dornan insists that the film won’t be “grotesque.”

“You’ve got to make something a large amount of people can go and see,” he said, adding, “I mean, in some ways, it’ll break a few boundaries. But at the same time, they want to put bums on seats. They can’t alienate an audience. You know it has to be watchable. It can’t be hardcore. I wouldn’t have signed up for it if it was.”

Of course, the 32-year-old actor also isn’t one to shy away from the explicit scenes he has to do with Johnson.

“It’s just work. It’s strange work, sure, but it’s still work. I just get on with it.”

Dornan even mentioned that his father had encouraged him to take on the role of Christian Grey.

“[Dad] was all for it. I don’t come from a cagey family. We’re fairly liberal.”

The film, directed by Sam Taylor Johnson, opens in theaters on February 13. The perfect Valentine’s Day date or not? Either way, theaters across the country will be full of women ready to hear that those two words every Fifty Shades fan wants to hear: “Laters, baby.”

  • Haley Joel Osment Set To Open Portland Film Festival With ‘Sex Ed’

If you’re wondering whatever happened to The Sixth Sense wonder child Haley Joel Osment, you’ll finally get your answer at the upcoming Portland Film Festival. The film Sex Ed stars Osment and is opening the festival on August 26, Tuesday.

After his success starring in movies such as Forrest Gump, AI and Pay It Forward as a child, Osment’s film career petered out. His performance in Sex Ed signals a comeback that people who have seen the movie are starting to believe will actually happen. “It’s genuine, funny, and not the least bit precious about its material, which involves inner-city students and an indisputably adult Haley Joel Osment as their plucky sex ed teacher. This is exactly the sort of movie you want to stumble across on the festival circuit,” wrote Ben Coleman of The Portland Mercury.

Sex Ed will open the Portland Film Festival at the Crystal Ballroom. Osment will make an appearance at the premiere with director Isaac Feder and several other cast members. In the film Osment plays a college graduate who wants to teach algebra but finds himself roped into becoming a sex education teacher while still being a virgin.

This is the second year of the Portland Film Festival, which started last year and was considered to be a success. Independent filmmakers Joshua Leake and Jay Cornelius started the festival in order to screen new films during an event that is “by filmmakers and for filmmakers.” Independent films and documentaries are featured at the event.

The Portland Film Festival closes on September 1 with a film directed by another celebrity, Jason Momoa of Conan The Barbarian (2011) and Game Of Thrones fame. His film, Road To Paloma, stars Wes Studi and Lisa Bonet. Momoa will also be conducting a workshop on using DSLR cameras with his director of photography, Brian Mendoza.

  • Oil Rig Explosion Movie: Mark Wahlberg To Star In ‘Deepwater Horizon’

If all goes well, Mark Wahlberg will be Manager Number Two in the film adaptation of one of the worst oil spills in history.

The actor is currently in talks to star in the movie based on the true-life story of the 2010 oil rig explosion in the Gulf of Mexico as reported in the New York Times article Deepwater Horizon’s Final Hour.

The storyline for Deepwater Horizon will center on the events of the last 48 hours leading up to the disaster as well as the heroic acts of the rescuers who responded to the emergency. Eleven workers died in the explosion and sixteen others were injured. The blast itself ignited a fireball visible from 40 miles away.

The movie rights to the article recounting the events of this catastrophe were granted to Summit and Participant after a heavy bidding battle. The film will be produced by the duo behind Transformers, Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian, and will be directed by J.C. Chandor, who also directed the 2013 survival film, All is Lost. Matthew Sand wrote the first draft of the script, which Matthew Michael Carnahan, who wrote World War Z, has adapted into the latest draft.

It is reported that the movie will start production in the late spring or early summer of 2015 although it is still unclear where the project will shoot.

Wahlberg is being considered for this movie after having worked with Di Bonaventura in Transformers: Age Of Extinction. Before Transformers, he starred in Lone Survivor, another movie drama based on the true story of war hero Marcus Luttrell. Wahlberg played Luttrell, who led a Navy Seals team in a covert operation to track a high-value Taliban leader. He is now set to start filming a comedy movie titled Daddy’s Home, which will co-star Will Ferrell.

Wahlberg is most admired for his ability to effectively and easily switch between serious dramatic roles and lighthearted comedic ones. Wahlberg is also one of the creative minds behind Boardwalk Empire and Entourage, the successful HBO series that will likewise soon be a movie.

  • Brad Pitt To Star In New Movie Directed By Angelina Jolie

Hollywood’s ultimate power couple, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, are going to work together again for the first time since 2005’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith, the film that many believe sparked their relationship. The film By The Sea is written and will be directed by Jolie, who will also be directing her partner Pitt who will stars in the movie with her. By The Sea will be shot on Gonzo, Malta’s second largest island, and Mgarr ix-Xini beach was closed to the public on Sunday to start filming, which will run through November 10 of this year.

Jolie revealed to the Inquirer that the decision to work closely with Pitt on the film wasn’t easy. “We have been shy of it for quite a few years because it’s very heavy, about a relationship, people going through and surviving a lot together. It’s not easy. So we were nervous about being able to handle the material as actors and to take it on together,” she said.

She has described Pitt as “extremely supportive,” saying he was willing to have her direct him in the film and that they were both interested in different aspects of making it. Pitt will also be joining Jolie as a producer of the film.

By The Sea is an intimate, character-driven film that sources say will have Jolie and Pitt’s characters getting married at one point in the story. Universal has already bought the rights to it, trusting in Jolie’s experience with directing the Golden Globe-nominated In The Land Of Blood And Honey in 2011 and her current project Unbroken, which features the life story of Olympian and war hero Louis Zamperini.

The Malta Independent has reported that construction of the set on Gonzo is underway, with one structure on the beach nearing completion. Pitt has also had experience filming in Malta before for 2004’s Troy and last year’s World War Z.
