  • Charlize Theron Leads Celebrities in Mandela Tribute

After the sad news spread that Nelson Mandela passed away yesterday at the age of 95, mourners from around the world showed the Nobel Peace Prize Winner a lot of love and respect. Appreciation and gratitude for all that Mandela did to stop apartheid in South Africa, including giving up his own freedom, was sincerely expressed by the Hollywood community.

Charlize Theron is from South Africa, she grew up on a farm in Johannesburg. The Oscar winning actress alongside The Wire actor Idris Elba both spoke last night after the premiere of the biopic about Mandela’s life, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. Theron had this to say, “My thoughts and love go out to the Mandela family. Rest in Peace Madiba. You will be missed, but your impact on this world will live forever. There will never be words to say what I’m feeling right now. I am saddened to the depths of my soul. Truly.”

Theron is also the creator of CTAOP, an organization to help stop the spread of HIV/AIDS among the youth in Africa. The group works alongside Oprah’s Angel Network to provide mobil health services to an impoverished region in South Africa called The uMkhanyakude District.

Elba, who played Mandela in the biopic, also paid his respects. “I am stunned at this very moment, in mourning with the rest of the world and Madiba’s family. We have lost one of the greatest human beings to have walked this earth, I only feel honored to be associated with him. He is in a better place now.

Many celebrities also expressed their thoughts on the life and death of the South African Leader. Morgan Freeman, who played Mandela in the 2009 film Invictus said, “What an honor it was to portray a man who defied odds, broke down barriers, and championed human rights before the eyes of the world.”

Also paying their respects were Rihanna, Cher, Kerry Washington, David Beckham and Harvey Weinstein, to name just a few. Naomi Campbell was especially moving in her tribute. “Nelson has stood as a figure of strength, hope, freedom, selflessness and love, and I join everyone across the world in mourning his passing.” She went on to say, “However, he was much more than just a figurehead to me – he was my mentor, my honorary grandfather, my Tata. Since meeting him in 1993, he’s guided me and gave me a reason for being in the tough times of my life. He changed my perception of the world.”

The Long Walk to Freedom hit theaters last week in limited release. The biopic is based on Mandela’s autobiography of the same name. The narrative moves between his childhood, coming of age and the 27 years he spent in prison before becoming President of South Africa.

  • Morgan Freeman Portrait Stuns The Internet

Morgan Freeman is the latest subject for artist Kyle Lambert, and his incredible photo-realistic style is stunning everyone as his time-lapse video goes viral this week.

Lambert uses Procreate, an app for iPad that allows artists to use their fingers to create stunning pieces. For most of us, getting a drawing to look this realistic is impossible even with a stylus and 20 years of training. But Lambert uses only his fingers and says he “reduced the brush size to a few pixels, pinched to zoom and carefully painted in the fine detail.” The final image is the result of 200 hours of work (and really makes me want an iPad).

Check out more of his work here.

  • Selfie, Twerk Additions Narrated by Morgan Freeman

Respected actor Morgan Freeman had the dubious privilege of reading the definition of twerk this morning on HLN. Twerking received recent celebrity status with references to Miley Cyrus’ performance at this week’s VMA’s.

Freeman helped announce recent additions to Oxford Online Dictionaries, which the group announced in its August update. The new additions are a collection of buzzworthy tech, fashion and foodie terms as well as acronyms and word blends such as jorts (a blend of jeans and shorts).

Known for his award-winning film career and distinguished voice, Freeman appeared on the program to promote current projects. He offered his views on current race relations and said that during the March on Washington, being celebrated today for its 50th anniversary, he was working at the post office in San Francisco.

  • Morgan Freeman Talks Theoretical Physics on the Daily Show

Morgan Freeman stopped by The Daily Show with Jon Stewart Thursday night, and luckily he stayed alert and attentive. Though there to promote his new film, Now You See Me, the conversation turned to theoretical physics. That’s not of bad thing, of course.

“I don’t understand things like string theory, but multiple universes? I fully understand it – you understand it.” said Freeman when asked about how much knowledge he has on the topic.

Check out the full convo below, which dives into the singularity of the universe.

As host of the documentary series Through the Wormhole, Mr. Freeman should have this sort of interest, right? Right. He also recently hosted the Fundamental Physics Prize gala in Geneva, where he had the chance to spend a little time with Stephen Hawking.

“He doesn’t talk a lot,” said Freeman.

  • Morgan Freeman Falls Asleep During Live TV Interview

Morgan Freeman Falls Asleep During Live TV Interview

Considering the fact that Morgan Freeman’s voice is one of the most soothing sounds that the human ear could ever perceive, it’s not too shocking that he may have put himself to sleep with his internal monologue on live TV.

During an interview with Seattle’s FOX affiliate Q13 news, the 75-year-old actor seemed to have trouble staying awake, as he appeared to doze off a few times in the span of a few minutes.

Freeman and Michael Caine, who had no problem picking up the slack, were there to promote their new film Now You See Me, set to release at the end of May. The crime thriller follows a group of illusionists who use their skills to pull off bank heists during their performances. The film also stars Isla Fisher, Mark Ruffalo, Jesse Eisenberg, and Woody Harrelson.

  • Morgan Freeman, Carlton Still Very Much Alive

Morgan Freeman is pretty much universally loved, and when so many people care about a celebrity, there’s bound to be a small faction of the population who get some giggles out of creating drama around them. Freeman has now been “death hoaxed” for about the eleventy billionth time, but no worries, fans.

“Morgan is alive and well, and joins the long list of actors who have been victimized by this hoax,” his rep said in a statement.

Along with Freeman, Alfonso Ribeiro has also been killed off online, with Facebook pages dedicated to him and images plastered with R.I.P. making their way across the web. Apparently that one was a little easier to swallow, because he’s been getting calls all weekend from loved ones making sure he’s still breathing.

Relax, Carlton lovers, and do this in celebration.

  • Morgan Freeman Reads 50 Shades of Grey…Kind Of

If you close your eyes and listen to the following clip, you’ll swear that Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman has gone off the deep end and submitted to reading excerpts from masturbatory mega-hit Fifty Shades of Grey.

Well, he hasn’t. But this is just about as close as we’re ever going to get to hearing the legendary screen presence talk about ”kinky f*ckery.”

Impressionist Josh Robert Thompson does an amazing Morgan Freeman impression. Seriously, it’s probably the best one in the world right now, and there are a lot of people out there that think they can do a good Morgan Freeman. Thompson has worked on epsidoes of Family Guy, American Dad, and various films & video games. But it’s his Morgan Freeman impression that has garnered him some internet fame as of late. You may remember a certain viral hit that involved Thompson, Freeman, and titty sprinkles.

Now, he’s put his wonderful skills on display again. Sit back, close your eyes, and imagine Morgan Freeman narrating one of the biggest literary hits of the past year (with a bit of extra commentary sprinkled in). I probably don’t have to say this, but I will: NSFW.

  • Morgan Freeman Donates $1 Million to Obama Super PAC: Twitter Reacts

Morgan Freeman, an actor who probably needs no introduction at this point, recently made a donation of $1 million to Priorities USA Action, a so-called “super” political action committee devoted to backing President Obama. Freeman’s contribution to the group will be reported in their federal disclosures on Friday. If everything goes according to plan, both sides will spend over $1 billion on campaign advertisements in various markets.

Thus far, Priorities USA Action has raised $20.4 million, which is eclipsed by the Romney-friendly Restore Our Future, which has raked in over $81.5 million from Republican donators. Just last month, Priorities managed to snag $6.1 million in contributions, whereas Restore enjoyed $20 million in donations. Of course, Obama’s official campaign has raised more cash than Romney’s, so everything will probably balance out when all is said and done.

Freeman, of course, is of the belief that Obama has done a fantastic job during his four years as president. He added, “In return, he is the target of hundreds of millions of dollars from right-wing sources. I am proud to lend my voice – and support – to those who defend him.”

The “Dark Knight Rises” actor is sure to ruffle some Republican feathers with his contribution. As you can tell from the Twitter reactions embedded below, some are downright irritated by his actions. You can sample some of their responses to this story by venturing below.

  • If You Only Watch One Morgan Freeman Impression Today, Make Sure He’s Talking About Titty Sprinkles

If you spend any time on reddit, Facebook, or any other site where memes and funny pictures are the backbone of the content, you’ve probably run across the image above.

It’s a simple play on the celebrity quote meme that, when created earnestly, imposes an image of the person alongside a famous quote attributed to them. You are likely to see these memes created with the likes of Neil deGrasse Tyson, Albert Einstein, Marilyn Monroe, and various other people (living or deceased) that have been known to provide nuggets of wisdom throughout the years.

Or, in the case of this Morgan Freeman rendition, something completely different. Titty Sprinkles.

The image confirms that if placed next to a photo of someone you know, any text will most likely be translated inside your head using the voice or vocal stylings of said person. Think William Shatner or Christopher Walken – famous people with remarkably distinctive voices. Of course, there are few people around with a more recognizable way of speaking than Morgan Freeman.

And now, someone has brought this well-circulated image to life.

That someone is Josh Robert Thompson, actor and impressionist who has appeared in episodes of Family Guy, American Dad, various films, and numerous video games. He’s known for his spot-on impressions of celebs like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sly Stallone – but his Morgan Freeman impression is unmatched.

So, without further ado, close your eyes and listen to Morgan Freeman talk about Titty Sprinkles.
