  • Mitt Romney Leads Big in Iowa, But Isn’t Even Running

Things are looking sad for the Republican Party in these ridiculously early days of the 2016 presidential election. According to a USA Today/Suffolk University poll released on Wednesday, Romney has a big lead among potential Republican Iowa caucus attendees.

The trouble is, Romney has already decidedly announced that he is not running. One way to interpret that data, is that the remaining field of Republican candidates is so bad that Iowans would rather have a guy who isn’t even running than any of them. Other potential candidates included:

    Jeb Bush
    Chris Christie
    Ted Cruz
    Mike Huckabee
    Jon Huntsman
    Bobby Jindal
    John Kasich
    Rand Paul
    Rick Perry
    Marco Rubio
    Paul Ryan
    Rick Santorum
    Scott Walker

The next nearest vote-getter among respondents was Mike Huckabee, getting 15% of the vote as compared to Romney’s 60%.

Keep in mind, though, that the winner of the 2012 Iowa caucus was Rick Santorum. Romney came in second place that year. And in 2008, Romney came in second again, this time to Mike Huckabee. No one seemed to really want Romney back then, but now he appears to be the best hope, according to Iowan poll respondents.

Recently, Romney started to tease Republicans a bit by saying that “circumstances can change”. Perhaps that means that he will only put himself out there for the kind of abuse he received last time if Republicans nearly beg him to run and show up ready to vote.

But Democrats have similar issues. Lots of Democrats keep insisting that they want Elizabeth Warren to run in 2016, despite Warren’s status as a freshman senator who has shown no intention of running.

The obvious choice for most Democrats, and heir apparent, is Hillary Clinton. But that isn’t stopping Warren supporters from wishing they could change that. They may like Hillary, But they love Elizabeth Warren.

  • Mitt Romney’s VP Pick Will Be Announced Via iPhone App

If you asked 100 people the question “Which Presidential candidate is more tech-savvy,” I bet you’d be hard-pressed to find 5 that said Mitt Romney. After his strong use of social media and internet donations back in 2008, President Obama received the reputation of being the guy whose campaign would best leverage technology.

When it comes to social media specifically, it’s not even close. Not only does Obama have more than nine times the Facebook likes, but he also has nearly double the Facebook users talking about him and a wide lead in “viral reach.” Mitt Romney’s yet to crack 1 million Twitter followers, and the President currently sits at 18+ million.

Obama also just unveiled a new iPhone app called Obama for America that pushes breaking news, as well as campaign event information and volunteering opportunities.

But hold up, says the Romney campaign. In an effort to utilize the smartphone-obsessed American culture, Mitt Romney has announced that he will first announce his Vice Presidential pick (whenever that happens) via an iOS/Android app.

It has the clever title of Mitt’s VP, and is free in iTunes and Google Play.

It’s a question everyone’s asking: who will be Mitt Romney’s VP? There’s no telling when that answer might come. But when it does, be the first to find out and access exclusive content with the Mitt’s VP app. Just download the app and when Mitt decides on his running mate, you’ll get an exclusive notification from the campaign letting you in on the exciting news before the press and just about everyone else (except maybe Ann).

So, who will it be? Rubio? Pawlenty? Jindal? Portman? Whoever it is, he wants those who’ve enabled push notifications to be the first to know.

  • Student Teacher Obama Debate Caught on YouTube

At North Rowan High School in Spencer, NC a teacher refuses to let a student “Disrespect President Obama”. Let’s check out the classroom in this YouTube clip.

The Fact of the Day was “Did you know Mit Romney was a bully in high school?” (I can only assume the teacher gives some sort of current events fact everyday), which is an actual news story. The student thought this Fact of the Day was leaning left.

The student speaks up saying, “Wasn’t Obama a bully in high school?” This statement is immediately followed by a screech of “we dont disrespect the president”. The student does not back down from his statement while keeping his voice to a respectable level. This is especially true in comparison to the teacher’s voice. The young student was trying to give the other side of the coin.

The teacher’s whole argument was that the current president should be treated better than the man who will be running against him come election time. This is an opinion not a fact. Whether you agree with the teacher’s argument or not, we all know that’s not how campaigns work.

If you go back and dissect anyone’s past, you will find something to write about. In this case the subject is high school bullying. The student was simply saying there was a story about Obama where he pushed a girl in high school. Meanwhile the fact of the day was a story about Mit Romney pinning a classmate down and cutting his long hair. Both stories are obviously not flattering towards the presidential candidates.

The student thought that if one story was presented in a classroom setting, then the other should be too.
