  • Steve Harvey to Welcome Miss Colombia and Miss Universe to His Show Monday and Tuesday

Steve Harvey will welcome Miss Colombia and Miss Universe as guests on The Steve Harvey Show on Monday and Tuesday of next week, in a two-episode special called Miss Universe: The Truth.

Harvey served as host of the Miss Universe Pageant back on December 20, and inadvertently crowned Miss Colombia–Ariadna Gutierrez–the winner, when in fact, Miss Philippines–Pia Wurtzbach–won.

“This has caused a lot of sleepless nights for me,” Steve Harvey says in a promo clip for next week’s shows. “I didn’t do any interviews until I could talk to the two people who were affected the most, Pia and Ariadna. No matter how tough it was for me, I can’t imagine how it was for these two women. This finally gives me a chance to have a moment of closure.”

Those sleepless nights might also have been caused–in part, anyway–to Steve Harvey and his family receiving death threats for the mistake he made while hosting the Miss Universe Pageant.

In Monday’s episode, the real Miss Universe, Pia Wurtzbach, tells Steve Harvey she forgives him for initially crowning someone else the winner.

“Don’t beat yourself up for this anymore. Let’s move forward, let’s just be happy,” the new Miss Universe says.

In the second part of the special, Ariadna Gutierrez, the reigning Miss Colombia, talks about how Steve Harvey’s mistake has affected her. She also talks about whether or not she is ready to forgive the pageant host.

Kudos to Steve Harvey for taking the high road in this unfortunate situation. The man made an honest mistake. He certainly shouldn’t be the victim of death threats.

Hopefully by hosting both Miss Universe and Miss Colombia on The Steve Harvey Show, the entire situation can finally be put to rest.

  • Miss Universe Winner Says Steve Harvey’s Error Was “Human”

Miss Universe herself, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, is the latest to weigh in on the now-infamous Steve Harvey pageant gaffe.

Of course, Wurtzbach wasn’t the one who got jilted that night when Harvey announced runner-up Miss Colombia as the winner.

She didn’t have to have the Miss Universe crown taken from her head and given to someone else, but she still felt bad about it.

About Steve Harvey’s Miss Universe mix-up, she said, “I was able to talk to him backstage after the pageant. He approached me, he said sorry, I accepted his apology. He didn’t have to apologize, but I’m grateful that he did, and I think that speaks very highly of his character.”

    This ones for you #myluckycolor

She added, “I thought he was such a gentleman to do that. I think it takes a lot for you to admit you made a mistake and correct it right away, especially on live television.”

She then said, “And I understand that it’s live television – you can make mistakes. It’s human, it’s okay.”

    I LOVE YOU MORE!!! @jamesfrancotv with @repostapp. ・・・ I the Philippines!!! 2 @missuniverse!!!

That’s a very Miss Universe-like approach by Wurtzbach.

Of course, the attention to this situation is slowly waning, as it tends to do. And, Steve Harvey being Steve Harvey has made the best of a terribly bad situation.

And he’s ready to move on from this Miss Universe situation!

Miss Universe first runner-up Miss Colombia may not be quite over the mistake, but she is ready to have a little bit of a laugh at it.

What do you think? Are you over this whole Miss Universe debacle?

  • Corinne Foxx Gets Golden Globes Training from Dad Jamie Foxx

Corinne Foxx is getting lots of training for her role Sunday as Miss Golden Globe from her dad Jamie Foxx. The actor is putting his 19-year-old daughter through all kinds of drills so she isn’t soon forgotten when the Golden Globes are over on Sunday evening.

In a Creed tribute, Corinne Foxx learns to smile, walk, talk, and wave like a star. Jamie Foxx even makes her jump rope in high heels.

Check it all out below in this Vanity Fair film clip.

Jamie Foxx even throws some lighthearted shade in Steve Harvey’s direction when Corinne Foxx admits she’s nervous about her upcoming role as Miss Golden Globe.

Foxx tells his daughter that no matter what, it “won’t be as bad as Steve Harvey.”

Harvey, as most everyone knows, read the wrong name as the winner of the Miss Universe Pageant last month, crowning Miss Colombia–the first runner-up–instead of Miss Philippines, the rightful winner.

For the past few years a child of a notable Hollywood actor is named Miss Golden Globe. Corinne Foxx will assist in the presentation of Golden Globes to Sunday’s winners.

Jamie Foxx is certainly determined his daughter will be a winner in her own right. The 21-year-old college senior wants to become an actor, but has long been determined to finish college first.

All kidding aside, Corinne Foxx will surely do her dad–and her whole family–proud.

  • Miss Colombia Gets Spoofed At People’s Choice Awards

Steve Harvey’s legendary Miss Universe blunder, in which he mistakenly announced Miss Colombia as the beauty pageant’s winner, got spoofed during this year’s People’s Choice Awards.

The night’s emcee, actress Jane Lynch said she would give a special award to someone who has never won a People’s Choice Award before. That deserving recipient was actor and comedian Thomas Lennon from The Odd Couple.

Lennon came up on stage, surprised and seemingly humbled by the recognition, but his acceptance speech was interrupted when Lynch took over the microphone to announce there was a huge mistake.

“I’m sorry, I have to apologize here. First runner-up is Tom Lennon. The winner is MISS COLOMBIA,” Lynch announced to crowd’s cheers.

A fake Miss Colombia took center stage and snagged the trophy from the shocked comedian.

“Listen, it’s my fault. I didn’t bother to come to dress rehearsal. Man, I just read the card wrong. I’m so sorry,” Lynch told the crowd, poking fun at Harvey’s huge Miss Universe fail.

Miss Colombia Finally ‘Wins’ at the 2016 People’s Choice Awards

Many are wondering how the real Miss Colombia is now feeling as the experience of being stripped of the title of Miss Universe after just a few minutes was surely embarrassing for Colombia’s representative, Ariadna Gutierez.

Miss Colombia reportedly told Univision that she “cried a ton” after she was de-crowned.

“I went up to my parents’ room and obviously, I was very sad, I was in bad shape, I was crying. I cried a ton that night,” she confessed.

“In four minutes they destroy your dreams, they throw it in a bag, and they throw it in the trash,” Gutierez said, disappointed with how the situation was handled.

Gutierez also said mistakes are bound to happen on live TV and that she forgives Harvey.

“Maybe the way it was written, it was a little confusing. I understand. It was his first time to judge a pageant, but it’s OK. He’s human. People make mistakes,” said Miss Colombia.

  • Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach–Now Miss Universe–Defends Steve Harvey Despite Pageant Gaffe

Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach was crowned Miss Universe on December 20, but not until an embarrassing mistake was made. Pageant host Steve Harvey inadvertently crowned Miss Colombia Adriadna Gutierrez the new Miss Universe before realizing he made a mistake.

Miss Colombia was immediately dethroned and Miss Philippines was finally crowned the winner.

Critics have bashed Steve Harvey constantly in the two weeks since the pageant aired. Some even accused him of creating the blunder for media attention–something he vehemently denies.

Harvey has requested a face to face meeting with Miss Colombia so he can apologize privately for the embarrassment he caused her, but she has refused to meet with him.

Miss Philippines, the new Miss Universe, however, sings Steve Harvey’s praises, calling the host of The Steve Harvey Show and Family Feud a “breath of fresh air.”

Pia Wurtzbach even things the host should return to emcee next year’s Miss Universe Pageant.

“Yeah, why not?” the former Miss Philippines said. “I think he’s a breath of fresh air. He made us feel very relaxed, the contestants. It makes us show our personalities a little bit more. I think that benefits everybody, especially the viewers.”

Miss Philippines-turned-Miss Universe has her own theory as to why Steve Harvey made his on-air mistake. She notes that the first runner-up’s name–Miss Colombia–was written is much larger font than that of pageant winner Miss Philippines.

“The way it was written, it was a little confusing,” she said. “I understand. It was his first time to judge a pageant, but it’s OK. He’s human. People make mistakes.”

Don’t you think it’s time everyone moved on from Steve Harvey’s pageant gaffe? It was no doubt an honest mistake. Miss Philippines is the winner of the pageant regardless of which name was initially read.

  • Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez Cried Many Tears Following Steve Harvey’s Miss Universe Pageant Gaffe, Won’t Talk With Pageant Host

Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez Cried Many Tears Following Steve Harvey’s Miss Universe Pageant Gaffe, Won’t Talk With Pageant Host

Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez admits she cried many tears following Steve Harvey’s gaffe at the Miss Universe Pageant on December 20. Miss Colombia was inadvertently crowned the pageant winner in an honest mistake. Miss Philippines, Pia Wurtzbach, was the real winner of the Miss Universe Pageant, meaning Miss Colombia was crowned, then had that crown taken away.

It was during a recent interview with Univision that Miss Colombia talked about how devastated she was after the mistake was revealed.

“I went up to my parents’ room and, obviously, I was very sad, I was in bad shape, I was crying. I cried a ton that night,” she said.

Steve Harvey read the card incorrectly, as Miss Colombia was the first runner-up instead of the pageant winner.

“In four minutes they destroy your dreams, they throw it in a bag, and they throw it in the trash,” Miss Colombia said.

“They could have done it another way. I feel like it doesn’t matter to them the feelings of a girl who has worked her whole life for a dream,” she added.

Steve Harvey addressed his mistake during his radio show on December 21. He denied rumors he announced Miss Colombia as the winner as part of a publicity stunt.

“Why the hell would I do that?” he said, noting that he was “already famous. Do you really think I wanted to be famous like this?”

Harvey says the moments before and after the mistake were chaotic.

“Now I got a guy in my ear going, ‘We gotta do something! We gotta do something!’ That’s all I’m hearing, all the confusion everybody backstage. So I took it upon myself and I walked out there to do something,” he said.

Steve Harvey says even though what was written on the card he read from and the teleprompter were different, he still takes full responsibility for the embarrassing, hurtful gaffe.

“Did I make a mistake? Yes, I did. Wholeheartedly,” he said. “At this point of the game I’m not in the finger pointing business and rolling other people under the bus.”

Harvey has expressed an interest in speaking to Miss Colombia, to apologize for his mistake, but she reportedly won’t talk with him.

Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach didn’t find some people’s suggestion to share the crown with Miss Colombia a possibility.

“I think it would be a little bit difficult for two girls to share a crown, but I have high hopes that this will give great opportunities for me and Miss Colombia and the rest of the contestants,” she told Lara Spencer during an interview on Good Morning America.

While it’s no surprise Miss Colombia shed many tears following the pageant mishap, many still believe the end result should have been different, with both women sharing the crown.

How do you think Steve Harvey’s pageant announcement mistake should have been handled? Do you think it was handled the best way possible?

  • Miss Universe Dismisses Idea Of Sharing Her Crown With Miss Colombia

Two weeks after pageant host Steve Harvey announced the wrong winner, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach broke her silence about the idea of sharing the win with first runner-up Miss Colombia, and the newly-crowned beauty queen thinks it would not be easy.

Wurtzbach appeared on Good Morning America on January 4 to talk about the mixup and to discuss if she is willing to share the crown with Miss Colombia, who was stripped off the Miss Universe title a few moments after Harvey declared her the winner.

“I think it would be a little bit difficult for two girls to share a crown,” Wurtzbach told show host Lara Spencer.

“…but I have high hopes that this will give great opportunities for me and Miss Colombia and the rest of the contestants,” she continued.

Wurtzbach received a lot of criticism after winning the title but said she is not taking it personally as she understands why fans of Miss Colombia are enraged by the embarrassing incident.

During the interview, Wurtzbach also revealed that she took the initiative to reach out to Gutierrez and wished her a happy birthday on December 25. She said Miss Colombia “seems like she’s okay.”

Miss Universe 2016 Pia Wurtzbach Appears on Good Morning America

The 26-year-old Miss Universe believes that more exciting opportunities await Miss Colombia in the future. “I know that she’s a beautiful young lady – very talented. I think that she’ll have a lot of other opportunities,” she said.

Wurtzbach also thinks Harvey should be given another chance to host Miss Universe next year. She commended the comedian for making them feel at ease during the pageant.

As for her Miss Universe duties, the Filipino-German actress will focus on a host of social causes which includes disaster relief and HIV awareness. She said she is excited to begin her mission as an ambassador of change and goodwill. “It’s surreal. I’m so happy,” she said.

Miss Universe Expresses Admiration For Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez, Calls Her ‘Amazing’

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach praised Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez in an Instagram post several days after the embarrassing Miss Universe mixup.  Wurtzbach described Gutierrez as an “amazing woman” who represented her country “with honor.”

“To Ariadna, you are an amazing woman and we are now bonded together forever by a unique experience,” Wurtzbach wrote.

After the storm comes the calm ? I want to thank each of the people who have sent me messages of support and strength!... Posted by Ariadna Gutierrez on Tuesday, December 22, 2015
“The destiny of every person on this planet is already written, and mine is this. I could give the joy of being Miss Universe to my country only for a few minutes, today thanks to that Colombia and the Latin community sounds in every corner of the planet,” Gutierrez wrote on her Facebook account, adding things happen for a reason. Pageant host Steve Harvey had announced Miss Colombia as the victor after he misread his cue card.  Miss Colombia was de-crowned after a moment of bliss, and it was both painful and embarrassing for the Latina beauty.

Watch Steve Harvey Mistakenly Announce Miss Colombia As Miss Universe

Miss Colombia handled the whole disaster with composure even when Miss Universe 2014 Paulina Vega transferred the crown to Wurtzbach. Indeed, this year’s event will forever be remembered as one of the most controversial winning moments in the history of beauty pageants.

  • Miss Colombia Moving On After Miss Universe Flub

Miss Colombia is moving on after one of the most awkward and most talked about pageants in Miss Universe history.

Miss Colombia held the crown for a matter of minutes before Steve Harvey, in a now-infamous moment, announced that he had proclaimed the wrong winner.

But, for Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez, that few moments was enough.

In a post-fiasco Instagram post, Miss Colombia wrote in part, “Your destiny is written for you. And my destiny was this. I was able to bring happiness to my country after becoming Miss Universe for only a couple of minutes… Today because of that COLOMBIA and the LATIN COMMUNITY are being talked about in every corner of the world.”

After the storm comes the calm. I want to thank each and everyone of you who have sent messages of support and strength. I was able to bring happiness to my country after becoming Miss Universe for only a couple of minutes… Today because of that COLOMBIA and the LATIN COMMUNITY are being talked about in every corner of the world. I also want to congratulate the Philippines for their new Miss Universe ?. The happiness that you must be feeling must be incredible. Life continues and in the future we will find out why things happen the way they happen. Thank you all for your LOVE SUPPORT and KINDNESS.

However, while Miss Colombia is moving on, the world is still discussing whether or not the right choice was made.

Even some other contestants have revealed their opinions on what happened to Miss Colombia and the winner, Miss Philippines.

Wow. Words can't describe how grateful I am for this. It was quite a journey getting here with 3 attempts at winning Miss Philippines. While many contestants seemed to think Miss Philippines shouldn’t have taken the crown, Miss Singapore Lisa Marie White revealed recently that she thinks the right contestant took home the crown.

She said, “When the top three were announced, some contestants were unhappy and there was quite an uproar.”

She added, “My vote went to Miss Philippines because I felt she did well in her Q&A, but at least seven girls forfeited their votes.”

What a mess. Do you think Miss Colombia should have taken home that huge crown?

  • Miss Universe Lauds Miss Colombia Following Uncomfortable Pageant Gaffe

Miss Universe, Pia Wurtzbach of the Philippines, lauded first runner-up Miss Colombia–Ariadna Gutierrez–following the uncomfortable gaffe made by pageant host Steve Harvey during last weekend’s pageant.

Taking to social media, Miss Universe said she feels “bonded” with Miss Colombia, calling her “strong and beautiful.”

“Wow. Words can’t describe how grateful I am for this. It was quite a journey getting here with 3 attempts at winning Miss Philippines. Now, I finally got the best Christmas gift ever – and not just for me, for my country. The Miss Universe,” Pia Wurtzbach captioned her Instagram post.

In keeping with pageant niceties, Miss Colombia returned the compliment, congratulation Miss Philippines on her Miss Universe win.

“After the storm comes the calm. I want to thank each and everyone of you who have sent messages of support and strength. Every one of you has become an incredible human being in my book and I am the most fortunate and thankful for having the support not only from one country but from the whole entire world. Life continues and in the future we will find out why things happen the way they happen. Thank you all for your LOVE SUPPORT and KINDNESS,” she captioned a photo of herself making a heart with her hands.

Even though Miss Philippines is the rightful winner of her Miss Universe crown, one can’t help but feel Miss Colombia got a raw deal. Not only did she have the crown removed from her head, she also suffered some humiliation over such a public demotion.

Hopefully Miss Colombia will pull herself up by her bootstraps, and hold her head up high. She achieved a goal about which many women only dream. She placed second out of countless contestants from around the world.

  • Miss Colombia Offered Registration-Free Entry by Las Vegas Pageant

Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez, was no doubt disappointed and humiliated when host Steve Harvey named her the winner of the Miss Universe Pageant just over a week ago. Harvey read the wrong name, as Miss Philippines was the winner. That meant Miss Colombia was soon thereafter stripped of the crown and named runner-up instead.

Now another pageant wants Miss Colombia to compete, and they are offering her registration-free entry if she signs on as a contestant.

The New York Post reports that officials from 2016 Las Vegas Model Search International offered Ariadna Gutierrez the opportunity to compete in their pageant, and even waived all registration requirements. That pageant takes place in June and features a $50,000 prize.

“When I saw the mix-up with the wrong winner crowned, my heart went out to both Miss Colombia as well as Miss Philippines,” James Gibson, the CEO of Las Vegas Model Search said.

“My hope is that somehow something positive comes out of this mind-boggling blunder,” he added.

Gibson said watching Sunday’s broadcast of the Miss Universe pageant was “one of the worst moments on live TV I’ve ever seen.”

No word has yet emerged as to whether or not Miss Colombia will accept this offer. She is presently in Miami, celebrating the holidays with her family.

Do you think Miss Colombia will accept this offer from Las Vegas Model Search International, and compete in their pageant in June? Or did the mixup on behalf of Steve Harvey at the Miss Universe Pageant sour Ariadna Gutierrez on the notion of competing in beauty pageants?

  • Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach Praises Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez Following Pageant Blunder

Miss Universe, Pia Wurtzbach, praised Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez, in a very kind social media message after pageant host Steve Harvey crowned the wrong girl with the Miss Universe title.

“Wow. Words can’t describe how grateful I am for this. It was quite a journey getting here with 3 attempts at winning Miss Philippines. Now, I finally got the best Christmas gift ever – and not just for me, for my country. Fate has a plan for you, and I’m excited to see what’s ahead. And to all the fans who are still fighting about this. Please let’s all stop now. The Miss Universe,” she captioned her Instagram post.

Miss Colombia also shared a message via social media following the Miss Universe Pageant.

Despite her message of gratitude, there is no way Miss Colombia doesn’t harbor some resentment over what happened at the Miss Universe Pageant. While she likely doesn’t feel that resentment toward Miss Philippines, who was crowned Miss Universe, she likely holds the pageant–or Steve Harvey–responsible for some of her disappointment and embarrassment.

  • Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach Sends Sweet Message to Miss Colombia Following Pageant Blunder

Miss Universe, Pia Wurtzbach (Miss Philippines) sent a very sweet message via social media to Miss Colombia this week, following the blunder on behalf of pageant host Steve Harvey, who first named Miss Colombia the pageant winner.

“Wow. Words can’t describe how grateful I am for this. It was quite a journey getting here with 3 attempts at winning Miss Philippines. Now, I finally got the best Christmas gift ever – and not just for me, for my country. Miss Colombia shared her own Instagram message with her followers after the Miss Universe Pageant gaffe.

“After the storm comes the calm. I want to thank each and everyone of you who have sent messages of support and strength. Every one of you has become an incredible human being in my book and I am the most fortunate and thankful for having the support not only from one country but from the whole entire world. Despite these two beauty queens reaching out to one another via social media, some reports say Steve Harvey is a hated man in Colombia because of the mistake he made in announcing the wrong winner of the Miss Universe Pageant.

Certainly Colombians are known for taking their beauty pageants very seriously, but doesn’t that seem a bit extreme to you?

  • Miss Colombia Might Get That Beauty Pageant Crown After All

Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez, was crowned Miss Universe on Sunday night when host Steve Harvey inadvertently read her name instead of that of the actual pageant winner. Shortly thereafter he returned to the pageant stage to retract his statement. Last year’s Miss Universe then removed the crown from Miss Colombia’s head and placed it on that of Miss Philippines, the new Miss Universe.

Much social media chatter has emerged from Steve Harvey’s gaffe. People in Colombia consider him a hated man.

It seems, however, Miss Colombia just might get that beauty pageant crown after all.

It’s uncertain whether Miss Colombia will accept the offer to compete in this new pageant or not. She is taking some down time in Miami, spending the holidays there with her family.

Do you think Miss Colombia will compete in a pageant so soon after her exceedingly uncomfortable few minutes on the Miss Universe Pageant stage?

  • Miss Universe Pageant Mistake Renders Steve Harvey A Hated Man in Colombia

Miss Universe was crowned Sunday night after a gaffe on behalf of host Steve Harvey. Reading the cue card incorrectly, Harvey incorrectly named Miss Colombia–Ariadna Gutierrez–winner of the Miss Universe pageant. A very short time later, Harvey appeared back on stage announcing his mistake. That’s when the real winner–Miss Philippines–was crowned Miss Universe.

People in Colombia find nothing the least bit amusing about this mistake. Certainly Steve Harvey didn’t either. He was embarrassed and he felt terrible for the awkward position he put Miss Colombia in.

Some Colombians, however, now regard Steve Harvey with great disdain. He has become a hated man in Colombia–all because of the Miss Universe mistake.

“They stole the crown from us and destroyed the dreams of a country,” Miss Colombia’s cousin, Álvaro Arévalo, told the Bogotá newspaper El Tiempo. “They exposed her to public humiliation.”

Colombians hold their beauty pageants in very high esteem, so they’re not very forgiving about the mistake Steve Harvey made at the Miss Universe Pageant, Time magazine reports.

Miss Colombia was forgiving. She is now the recipient of much sympathy from fellow Colombians. In fact, some believe the Miss Universe Pageant mistake will wind up pushing her even further into the public eye. That could be life changing for Gutierrez.

Colombian fashion maven Pilar Castaño says of the situation, “If she plays her cards right, it could be a dream.”

No one would deny Miss Colombia her dream, especially in light of the embarrassment she no doubt felt during the Miss Universe Pageant.

Do you think Steve Harvey’s mistake should render him a hated man in that country, however? Do you expect Colombians in this country regard the Miss Universe host the same way?

  • Miss Universe Gaffe Makes Steve Harvey A Villain in Colombia

The Miss Universe Pageant on Sunday night included a gaffe on behalf of host Steve Harvey that most people have by now forgiven–and maybe even started to forget. Not so those in Colombia, however. Miss Colombia was inadvertently crowned Miss Universe, then had to give the crown back so the real Miss Universe–Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach–could be crowned. Steve Harvey was embarrassed and admitted his mistake on the air.

Miss Colombia cried, but then accepted the situation for what it was–she was the first runner-up. She even spoke with reporters, saying, “Everything happens for a reason.”

The people of Colombia aren’t as forgiving, however, according to Time magazine.

“They stole the crown from us and destroyed the dreams of a country,” Gutiérrez’s cousin, Álvaro Arévalo, told the Bogotá newspaper El Tiempo. “They exposed her to public humiliation.”

Some comments on social media took on a sinister air.

Colombia apparently takes their beauty pageants quite seriously, and when Miss Colombia was crowned Miss Universe, they celebrated. That celebration swiftly turned to dismay as the crown was removed from her head and placed on the real Miss Universe winner’s.

Miss Colombia is now the recipient of much sympathy, and some believe she may wind up more well-known and popular than the actual Miss Universe.

Colombian fashion maven Pilar Castaño says of the situation, “If she plays her cards right, it could be a dream.”

Do you think Steve Harvey had any idea his mistake during the Miss Universe Pageant would render him a villain in Colombia?

  • Miss Philippines–Now Miss Universe: Did She Date President of Philippines?

Miss Philippines was crowned Miss Universe on Sunday, following host Steve Harvey’s gaffe in first crowning Miss Colombia with the title. After the real pageant winner was announced, rumors began circulating about Pia Wurtzbach, with some saying she dated the president of the Philippines, Benigno Aquino III.

It was this past March that Miss Philippines appeared on a talk show hosted by the president’s sister, Kris Aquino. When asked about the president, and a possible romantic link, then-Miss Philippines (now Miss Universe) was coy.

“I know him,” she said. “I talk to him, yes. He’s very fun to talk to.”

The talk show host isn’t just the president’s sister. Because he is a bachelor, she is the first lady. She claims she and three of their sisters wanted to match Miss Philippines up with their brother, but she didn’t seem interested.

“She could have denied [that they were dating],” Kris Aquino said. “I don’t think she liked Noy–I think she entertained him but the thing is, you can tell from her character [that she’s] single-minded.”

That certainly doesn’t reflect kindly on Miss Philippines–now the reigning Miss World–does it?

Regardless of the relationship–or non-relationship–between the former Miss Philippines and the president of the Philippines, his office issued a statement when she was crowned Miss Universe on Sunday.

“Today, the whole country unites in celebration over Ms. Pia Wurtzbach’s coronation as Miss Universe in the 2015 pageant in Las Vegas, USA,” the statement from the president’s spokesperson read. “Throughout her journey, Ms. Wurtzbach showcased to the world the characteristic beauty, intelligence, and elegance for which Filipinas are renowned. In the first few moments of the original announcement, she showed tremendous poise and control, and even more tremendous graciousness when the real verdict was finally announced. We congratulate her for this success as the third Miss Universe of the Philippines, following in the footsteps of Ms. Gloria Diaz and Ms. Margie Moran-Floirendo.”

Will the president congratulate the former Miss Philippines personally when she returns home as Miss Universe? Has he given up on her even though she didn’t seem interested in him?

  • Miss Universe Scandal: Colombia Is Furious Over Scandal

The Miss Universe scandal was not only painful to watch, it has evoked anger in the home country of Miss Colombia, who was mistakenly named the winner before having to relinquish her crown to Miss Philippines.

For those unaware, during the Miss Universe contest in Las Vegas on Sunday night, host Steve Harvey mistakenly named Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutiérrez, the winner, forcing the young woman to give back the crown.

That didn’t sit too well in her South American home country.

Gutiérrez’ evening ended in tears, but later the gracious young Columbian recovered and told reporters that “everything happens for a reason.”

Her fellow Colombians were less than magnanimous, according to a report by Time magazine. Things became even more contentious when Steve Harvey attempted an apology but misspelled “Miss Columbia,” wrongly spelled with a u — as in the District of Columbia or the doomed Space Shuttle.

“They stole the crown from us and destroyed the dreams of a country,” Gutiérrez’s cousin, Álvaro Arévalo, told the Bogotá newspaper El Tiempo. “They exposed her to public humiliation.”

The scandal ignited a social media frenzy with a plethora of irate messages and conspiracy theories. Many wondered why it took so long for Harvey to admit his error, with some eluding that it was fraud whether than merely a mistake.

Beauty contests are serious business in Colombia and Colombian women have twice been named Miss Universe, including last year’s winner Paulina Vega, and have been runner-up five times. The BBC has calculated that the country holds nearly 3,800 beauty pageants per year.

Despite her rise through the Colombian pageant circuit and nearly garnering the ultimate price, blogger and pageant judge Perez Hilton said that he and other judges preferred Miss Philippines, calling Gutiérrez an arrogant diva.

“There’s a reason, many reasons, why she didn’t win,” he told Good Morning America.

The fallout of the Miss Universe scandal has left Gutiérrez in a position to profit from the error. The mistake has garnered worldwide sympathy and she may well end up more beloved than the real Miss Universe. Colombian fashion maven Pilar Castaño said that “if she plays her cards right, it could be a dream.”

  • Miss Colombia Addresses Miss Universe Debacle in Instagram Post

Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez, was inadvertently crowned Miss Universe during Sunday night’s pageant when host Steve Harvey made an embarrassing gaffe. The real winner was Miss Philippines, Pia Wurtzbach. Within minutes, Miss Colombia was stripped of the crown she believed she won, and it was awarded to its rightful owner instead.

After a few days of silence, Miss Colombia addressed the Miss Universe Pageant debacle via an Instagram post.

“After the storm comes the calm. I want to thank each and everyone of you who have sent messages of support and strength. Every one of you has become an incredible human being in my book and I am the most fortunate and thankful for having the support not only from one country but from the whole entire world. Your destiny is written for you. And my destiny was this. I was able to bring happiness to my country after becoming Miss Universe for only a couple of minutes… Today because of that COLOMBIA and the LATIN COMMUNITY are being talked about in every corner of the world. I also want to congratulate the Philippines for their new Miss Universe ??. The happiness that you must be feeling must be incredible. Life continues and in the future we will find out why things happen the way they happen. Thank you all for your LOVE SUPPORT and KINDNESS,” she captioned a photo of herself.

Miss Colombia also shared a photo of herself wearing the Miss Universe crown.

“POR SIEMPRE TU MISS UNIVERSO!! COLOMBIA !!!!!!!” she captioned it. That translates into “Forever your Miss Universe! Colombia!”

Miss Colombia has been gracious in the days since Miss Philippines was crowned Miss Universe. Steve Harvey has apologized profusely.

Fortunately for all involved, it’s unlikely this kind of mistake will be made during a pageant again.

  • Miss Universe Pageant Exec Hopes Steve Harvey Will Return as Host Next Year Despite Gaffe

A Miss Universe Pageant executive said on a radio show Tuesday that he hopes Steve Harvey will return as pageant host next year, despite his mistake in naming the wrong contestant the pageant winner.

Sunday night’s pageant has received more press about the Family Feud host’s gaffe than about the new Miss Universe–Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.

It was Sunday evening when Steve Harvey announced Miss Colombia was the winner of the Miss Universe Pageant. The trouble was, Miss Colombia didn’t win. That meant Steve Harvey had to return to the stage, admit his mistake, and announce the real winner–Miss Philippines–of the pageant.

On Tuesday, Mark Shapiro, the chief content officer of WME IMG (the company that owns the Miss Universe Organization), said he would love to see Steve Harvey return as host next year.

“He was funny, he was informative, he’s high energy, he’s got a great following,” Shapiro said of the comedian and host of The Steve Harvey Show. “I definitely want him back, and I would hate to see him not come back. He’s going to want a shot to redeem himself.”

Steve Harvey no doubt still feels terrible about announcing the wrong woman as the Miss Universe winner. He took to Twitter to apologize–a couple of times.

Harvey then attempted to sway focus away from him and on the the Miss Universe contestants.

Steve Harvey hasn’t yet formally addressed his boo boo in the media. Do you expect he will return as next year’s Miss Universe Pageant host?

Even Donald Trump, who no longer owns the Miss Universe company, believes Steve Harvey deserves a break.

  • Miss Universe Scandal: Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutiérrez Pens Touching Reflection On Mixup

The Miss Universe scandal has heated up headlines this week with a plethora of criticism lashed out against the pagaent and against Steve Harvey, who announced that there had been a mistake and Miss Colombia — Ariadna Gutiérrez — was not the winner. Instead, the crown was passed to Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, as stunned viewers learned that there had been a mistake.

The 21-year-old runner-up took took the high road Tuesday on Instagram to thank supporters after being mistakenly crowned as the Miss Universe pageant’s winner.

After the storm comes the calm. I want to thank each and everyone of you who have sent messages of support and strength. Every one of you has become an incredible human being in my book and I am the most fortunate and thankful for having the support not only from one country but from the whole entire world. “After the storm comes the calm,” Gutiérrez wrote. “I want to thank each and everyone of you who have sent messages of support and strength.”

The Colombian TV host and fashion model posted two lengthy reflections on social media — one in English and one in her native Spanish, accompanied with photos from the Dec. 20 event.

“Every one of you has become an incredible human being in my book and I am the most fortunate and thankful for having the support not only from one country but from the whole entire world,” she continued.

In the wake of the scandal, Steve Harvey apologized to Miss Colombia in person and on Twitter writing, “I’d like to apologize wholeheartedly to Miss Colombia & Miss Philippines for my huge mistake. I feel terrible.”

On Tuesday, he also tweeted: “God answers prayers in some of the most unexpected ways.”
