  • Star Wars VII Millennium Falcon Picture Leaked

“It’s not easy to try and hide the Millennium Falcon!”

To the excitement of Star Wars fans everywhere, a photograph showing the Millennium Falcon and an X-wing fighter went viral after a flight school accidentally caught the shot this week.

Matthew Myatt, a simulations engineer at Airbourne Aviation flying club, was photographing one plane to another during a flight from the school’s base at Popham Airfield, Micheldever, in Hampshire.

“I didn’t know it was there, and we flew down and did some orbits,” Myatt said. “It was based around the old cruise missile silo. We didn’t realize what we had. I looked at the pictures on the viewer on the camera but the resolution wasn’t brilliant. It wasn’t until I got back last night and started going through the images that it just jumped out at me.”

Myatt said he had to go grab his son, a big Star Wars fan, to get him to verify what he was seeing.

“I was quite stunned. It was like, ‘wow’. That’s how the picture came about, purely by luck…It was one of those unbelievable moments.

“I grew up with Star Wars so I started jumping around,” he added.

The Millennium Falcon and X-wing fighter are on set at Greenham Common near Newbury in Berkshire.

A fan, Tom Bexx, wrote: “Newbury has become cool THE millennium falcon is here!”

Filming has also been done at the remote Irish island of Skellig Michael and at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire.

Star Wars VII, to be released December 18, 2015, will bring in newcomers as well as old faces. Joining Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker will be John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong’o, and Gwendoline Christie, as well as newcomers taken directly from the open audition, Crystal Clarke and Pip Anderson.

Harrison Ford: Leg Broken, Not Ankle

Harrison Ford reportedly suffered a broken leg during a recent accident on the set of the upcoming Star Wars film–not his ankle as previously reported. The accident took place at Pinewood Studios outside of London London last Thursday. The Han Solo actor recently underwent surgery to mend the leg and will begin rehab soon.

Ford’s publicist said in a statement to the media that the actor’s “surgery was successful and he will begin rehab shortly.”

The accident took place when a door to the Millennium Falcon–the craft that Han Solo operates in the Star Wars films–fell on the 71-year-old actor and broke his leg. Production of the film has continued in Harrison Ford’s absence and some sequences will be reworked to feature the actor from the waist up during his recuperation.

Harrison Ford is just one of the original Star Wars actors reprising his role for Star Wars: Episode VII. Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Peter Mayhew will all return to the big screen when the film hits theaters in December of 2015.

Calista Flockhart–Ford’s wife–flew to Britain recently to be by his side during the early stages of his recuperation. It is uncertain how long the Ally McBeal actress will stay with him.

Hopefully this injury doesn’t have long term ramifications for Harrison Ford. When one breaks a limb at the age of 71 it is significantly more difficult to recuperate than had the injury occurred in his younger years.

Are you among the droves of Star Wars fans counting the months until Star Wars: Episode VII hits theaters? Do you want to place bets on whether or not Harrison Ford returns if there is ever a Star Wars: Episode VIII?

  • Calista Flockhart Joins Harrison Ford at Hospital

Calista Flockhart has reportedly flown to Britain to be at husband Harrison Ford’s hospital bedside. The Star Wars actor was seriously injured on set, doing serious harm to his ankle. Some sources are now saying his injuries may be even more serious than initially reported–including possible injuries to his pelvis and his chest. The two missed celebrating their fourth anniversary together. They were married on June 15th in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Flockhart–probably best known for her role on Ally McBeal–confirmed that she was in fact en route to spend several days with Harrison Ford. Ford was airlifted to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford following the accident that occurred at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire. It seems a door from the Millennium Falcon spacecraft–part of the intricate set design for the upcoming Star Wars film–collapsed and fell on the actor.

Despite these reports it is said that Star Wars: Episode VII is set to release on schedule, with a premiere date of December 18, 2015 still on track. Filming will continue despite Harrison Ford’s absence. He will return, however, to play Han Solo even though he is expected to miss as many as eight weeks on set. One source claims Ford will resume filming, with shots featuring him from the waist up only.

Perhaps a good dose of Calista Flockhart is what Ford needs. Being alone in a hospital far from home must take its toll on one’s psyche, and as everyone knows–good emotional health is vital to physical healing. Maybe her time spent at his bedside will prompt him to join cast members from the original Star Wars who are reprising their roles in the new film as well. Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill will also appear in what will likely be a big screen sensation.

It’s uncertain how long Calista Flockhart will stay in Britain with Harrison Ford. The two are raising a son that she adopted as an infant back in 2001–meaning they have a teenager at home.

  • Millennium Falcon Found in Baltic Sea?

There are perhaps tens of thousands of salvage items at the bottom of the Baltic Sea. Treasure hunters frequent the area and recover many things.

Peter Lindberg, a commercial diver who trawls for treasure in the Baltic, has mapped a sonar image that he intends to excavate in the Spring. The object is circular, with a diameter of 195 feet.

While the type of sonar image that Lindberg recorded does occasionally give a false read, there is definitely something down there. And, from the looks of those sonar images, it is something from a long time ago… in a galaxy far, far away…

  • Google Maps Fun: A School Shaped Like The Millennium Falcon

The Force is strong with this school, apparently. It’s either that, or they are a trade school specializing in training intergalactic smugglers who can make the Kessel run in under 12 parsecs — even though a parsec is a measurement of length, not time.

Star Wars fun aside, what we have is indeed a school that, from a Google Maps view, looks a lot like Han Solo’s ship. And that’s a good thing. While it’s uncertain whether or not the design was intended, the completed building certainly shares similarities with the iconic spacecraft. The school in question, as indicated by Neatorama, is Parkland High School, and it’s located in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Who knew Star Wars fans were such witty architects?

An embed of the school in question reveals more:

    Now for the Millennium Falcon:

    Millennium Falcon

Coincidence? Or was someone on the design crew a massive Star Wars fan? In all likelihood, the coincidence explanation seems most likely, but then again, Star Wars fans are pretty much everywhere. Whether the imitation was intended or not, it still ranks above billionaire Sheikhs who deface entire islands just to tell everyone their name.

The school’s overhead design isn’t lost on the Google Maps reviewers, either. The featured review for Parkland High is as follows:

“I recommend Ms. Kessel’s class if you’re looking to get through quickly.”

Hopefully, Ms. Kessel will explain the difference between measuring distance and measuring time.

Sadly, the school itself doesn’t seem to embrace its distinction, although, it could be entirely ignorant in the matter. If this story goes viral, that would obviously change. Let’s just hope George Lucas doesn’t sue them for using likenesses that are similar to his Star Wars vehicles.
