  • Nina Dobrev Posts Sweet Farewell to ‘Vampire Diaries’ Co-Star Paul Wesley, Ends Filming With Sobs

Nina Dobrev as Elena on the Vampire Diaries will soon be a thing of the past for fans of the popular CW series.

For Nina, it’s coming more quickly.

The 26 year-old actress has been busy saying goodbye to cast mates and the crew of the popular show for days now. But none were more touching than her sweet farewell Monday on Instagram to co-star Paul Wesley, who plays Stefan..

For six seasons, Nina Dobrev and Wesley, 32 have been thrilling fans of the show with their relationship ups and downs.

A seventh season is coming, but Dobrev chose to leave the show, along with Michael Trevino, who plays Tyler Lockwood.

“Elena fell in love not once, but twice, with two epic soulmates, and I myself made some of the best friends I’ll ever know and built an extended family I will love forever,” Dobrev wrote earlier this month on Instagram when announcing her departure.

Wesley replied to Nina Dobrev’s post on Monday with a broken-heart emoji.

Nina Dobrev says finishing up her final scenes has made her cry buckets.

“I feel like a blow fish, so puffy and bloated from crying all day. Tears of joy&sadness. Bittersweet. So many memories. What a fun ride [sic]…” she wrote on her Instagram alongside a photo with co-stars Kat Graham and Candice Accola.

She posted another photo elaborating on just how difficult it is to leave the Vampire Diaries.

  • Michael Trevino, Nina Dobrev: Both Stars Are Leaving ‘The Vampire Diaries’

Michael Trevino and Nina Dobrev are both officially leaving The Vampire Diaries. Rumors have swirled for months now about Nina Dobrev’s purported departure, and that is now official. Michael Trevino’s departure, however, has likely taken fans by far more surprise.

According to a report from E! News, showrunner Julie Plec has confirmed that both actors are leaving the show.

Michael Trevino has played the role of Tyler Lockwood on The Vampire Diaries since its premiere season.

“Michael has been a beloved member of the Vampire Diaries family since day one,” she said. “Even though he’s also going to be out in the world exploring new opportunities, we look forward to finding creative ways to make sure he and his character Tyler Lockwood always remain a part of the show.”

There were subtle hints about both Nina Dobrev and Michael Trevino leaving The Vampire Diaries, in the form of Instagram posts, but the hints were soon taken down, leaving many to think they were jokes. Those hints included captioned photos reading, “in honor of Nina Dobrev and Michael Trevino,” that were taken during a recent lake vacation.

Nina Dobrev detailed that lake vacation in a goodbye post she shared on Instagram.

Here’s how she captioned a photo of herself with Julie Plec:

    “Dearest TVD Family,

I’ve just spent the most beautiful weekend on Lake Lanier in Georgia with my own TVD Family, the cast and crew of The Vampire Diaries. I want to be the first to tell you that it wasn’t just a holiday celebration, it was a goodbye party. I always knew I wanted Elena’s story to be a six season adventure, and within those six years I got the journey of a lifetime. I was a human, a vampire, a doppelganger, a crazy immortal, a doppelganger pretending to be human, a human pretending to be a doppelganger. I got kidnapped, killed, resurrected, tortured, cursed, body-snatched, was dead and undead, and there’s still so much more to come before the season finale in May. Elena fell in love not once, but twice, with two epic soulmates, and I myself made some of the best friends I’ll ever know and built an extended family I will love forever.

There’s more to come before we wrap this up, and I promise you’ll get to hear all about my experiences over the next month as we approach the season finale (I have given an exclusive interview for the June issue of SELF Magazine that I am excited for you to see!), but until then I invite you to hop on the roller coaster ride that is Elena Gilbert’s life and join me as I celebrate her and prepare to say goodbye to her — and to my work family — as I move on to the next chapter of my life. I want to share this goodbye with all of you (this weekend’s pictures were just the beginning). You, the wonderful fandom who gave more love, support and passion than anyone could have ever imagined seven years ago, when a young Degrassi girl from Canada showed up in LA to audition for ‘that Twilight TV show.’ 😉 I love you all. Fasten your seatbelts. If you think you know what’s coming, you don’t.

    Love, Nina”

“Saying goodbye to Nina is both bittersweet and beautiful,” Julie Plec said in a statement. “After six-plus years together, the entire cast and crew of The Vampire Diaries has reached a level of closeness that I don’t think any of us ever expected. Nina is excited to spread her wings, get some rest, travel the world and also take it by storm, and we support her a thousand-fold. We will miss Nina and the four hundred characters she played, but we look forward to the insane and exciting challenge of continuing to tell stories of our Salvatore Brothers and our much-loved and gifted ensemble.”

Are you a Vampire Diaries fan? What’s your take on Michael Trevino and Nina Dobrev leaving the show?

And do you think Nina Dobrev’s departure has anything to do with Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed’s upcoming nuptials?

  • Nina Dobrev’s ‘Let’s Be Cops’ Premiere: TVD Cast Shows Up in Support Sans Ian Somerhalder

Nina Dobrev celebrated the opening of her new comedy, Let’s Be Cops, in the company of her The Vampire Diaries co-stars. One conspicuously missing co-star was Dobrev’s ex, Ian Somerhalder.

Michael Trevino, who plays Tyler in the series, captured the moment last week on Instagram with the caption, “About to see our girl @ninadobrev new movie Let’s Be Cops! TVD came to represent! #TVD ”

Zach Roerig (Matt) and Michael Malarkey (Enzo) also joined Trevino to support Dobrev in her new endeavor.

According to some reports, Somerhalder decided to skip the premiere to avoid unnecessary awkwardness on her big day.

Back in July, rumors swirled that Somerhalder was not too thrilled that Dobrev would appear topless in the film and thought she shouldn’t have accepted the role.

Somerhalder was reportedly furious about the topless scene, but since he and Dobrev were still broken up at the time, he couldn’t say anything, according to CelebDirtyLaundry.

Somerhalder is currently dating Nikki Reed and is apparently thrilled with his new relationship.

“I couldn’t be happier if I tried,” Somerhalder told E! News at the 2014 Creative Arts Emmys.

    Friends couldn’t agree more.

“[Nikki and Ian are] smitten with each other and love spending time together,” an insider said.

A few weeks ago, Somerhalder posted a photo of himself with his new horse and thanked Reed for snapping the shot: “Proud new dad… What amazing creatures they are. Wow. His name is Eagle. Thank you @iamnikkireed for snapping this special moment, with our big baby boy.”

Let’s Be Cops was released in theaters on Aug. 13.

  • Jenna Ushkowitz Heartbroken? Not in Hawaii

Jenna Ushkowitz Heartbroken? Not in Hawaii

While most celebrities go through their reps to announce a breakup, Glee‘s Jenna Ushkowitz announced her breakup from The Vampire Diaries actor Michael Trevino in a most awkward way.

While signing autographs at The Normal Heart premiere May 19 in Beverly Hills, California, Ushkowitz announced their three-year relationship had come to an end.

    And here’s how it happened.

While making the rounds at the premiere, a videographer asked if she was still dating Trevino, E! Online reported.

“No, we’re not together anymore,” she said.

When the videographer realized he may have made the 28-year-old star uncomfortable, he apologized.

“That’s OK. No worries,” she responded.

When asked if the two were still on good terms, Ushkowitz said, “We’re wonderful.”

    Awkward, right?

The breakup doesn’t necessarily come as a surprise. When the two first started dating, Ushkowitz told Ryan Seacrest she and Trevino were “very close.”

But neither mentioned the other very often on social media, or elsewhere. Four months ago, Ushkowitz posted a picture from the 2011 SAG Awards on Instagram, wishing the 29-year-old Trevino a happy birthday.

Ushkowitz posted a similar Instagram birthday greeting the year before.

Doesn’t look like she’s pining away either. Saturday morning she posted a photo while on vacation in Hawaii with friends, including Glee costar Kevin McHale.

  • Jenna Ushkowitz and Michael Trevino End Their 3-Year Relationship

Glee and The Vampire Diaries’ fans can finally unite with disappointment, because Jenna Ushkowitz and Michael Trevino have broken up.

In 2011, Ushkowitz and Trevino’s relationship became public when they walked the SAG awards’ red carpet together. During a 2011 interview on, On Air with Ryan Seacrest, he asked her “if she has a thing for werewolves,” a clear reference to Trevino’s character Tyler Lockwood who was a werewolf-vampire hybrid (now a human) on The Vampire Diaries. Ushkowitz didn’t reveal any details on their romance; she simply told Seacrest that they were “very close.”

Since then, Ushkowitz and Trevino remained private about their relationship. However, she occasionally posted pictures of the couple on her Instagram.

The couple also did a photo-shoot in 2011, with photographer Tyler Shields, which highlighted their passion for one another. Emma Roberts was also included in the shoot.

Trevino showed his support for Ushkowitz by promoting her various projects, including her book Choosing Glee, via tweets.

On May 19, while attending The Normal Heart premiere, a videographer  asked Ushkowitz if she was still dating Trevino. She responded: “No, we’re not together anymore. She also signed autographs during that interaction. The videographer apologized for bringing it up, but then Ushkowitz said, “That’s okay, no worries,” with a smile. Finally she added, “We’re wonderful.”

US Weekly reports that an insider said their relationship ended a while ago. But in January, Ushkowitz posted an old red carpet photo of the couple with the caption, “Happy birthday to my best friend, the one who has taught me how to laugh and love more and more everyday. Congrats on another year around the sun.”

In April, rumors surfaced that Trevino was dating his The Vampire Diaries co-star Nina Dobrev. The rumors started after Dobrev posted a picture of them bowling.

Nothing about the picture suggested they were a pair, but fans and gossip sites quickly jumped to that conclusion. Now with Trevino and Ushkowitz’s breakup confirmed, rumors of his romance with Dobrev may intensify, though they’ll likely prove false.
