  • Jessa Duggar Seewald: Father-in-Law Blasts Josh Duggar Following Ashley Madison Scandal

Jessa Duggar Seewald hasn’t shared much besides some Scripture passages in the wake of brother Josh Duggar’s Ashley Madison scandal. Josh recently admitted that he had two Ashley Madison accounts as well as an addiction to pornography. He also admitted to cheating on his wife Anna Duggar.

In a recent blog post, Jessa Duggar’s father-in-law blasts Josh Duggar. Michael Seewald wrote about the shame Josh has brought upon the former 19 Kids and Counting family and to his wife. He also accused him of blasphemy.

In a blog post titled Grief, Shame, and Taking the LORD’S Name in Vain, Jessa Duggar’s father-in-law minced few words.

“He claimed to be a Christian, but by his deeds he has suggested otherwise,” he says of Josh Duggar in the essay. “It distresses me to say that Josh Duggar’s greatest sin is a byproduct of the sum total of his secretly sinful lifestyle. That is, that by his hypocrisy, he blasphemed the name of God.”

Michael Seewald also slams Josh Duggar’s “lifestyle of evil.”

“With the name of God on his lips he lived a covert and extensive lifestyle of evil,” Michael continues. “While proudly saying things like, ‘Our family is like the epitome of conservative values,’ he was looking at porn and soliciting affairs. He took a job at the Family Research Council that exists to promote the traditional family, all the while undermining his own family by violating his marriage covenant. He flourished in the fame of his family and the success of their television show, all the while betraying their trust and Christian values.”

Jessa Duggar’s father-in-law adds that Josh shamed the Christian faith, too.

“The thing that is so hurtful is that he was a loud voice endorsing Christian ethics and he has been shown to be a fraud,” he explains. “I am profoundly grieved that he attained such a platform only to bring shame on God’s holy name and the Christian faith.”

“Josh was a pretender,” he writes. “True Christians fail often, but their lives are truly being conformed to the image of Christ. Do not look at Josh and justify your own sins by dismissing the reality of genuine faith and a holy God.”

Jessa Duggar is married to Michael Seewald’s son Ben. The two are expecting their first child on their first wedding anniversary–November 1st.

Do you think Jessa Duggar respects her father-in-law less because of his outspokenness about Josh Duggar or does she perhaps respect him even more for it?

  • Amy Duggar Drops Social Media Hints About Josh Duggar

Josh Duggar has received loads of support from his fans and family during his recent troubles. The reality TV star of 19 Kids and Counting was called out publicly for incidents from back when he was 24 years old. Josh had reportedly molested five girls, four of which were reported to be his sisters.

Josh’s family has particularly ridden to his side. His parents and wife both issued statements of support, calling that period of his life and those incidents “mistakes.”

“Back 12 years ago our family went through one of the most difficult times of our lives,” Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar said. “When Josh was a young teenager, he made some very bad mistakes, and we were shocked. We had tried to teach him right from wrong. That dark and difficult time caused us to seek God like never before.”

Aside from that, most of Josh’s immediate family have refrained from making public comments about the situation. Michael Seewald, related to Josh by marriage, has spoken about it on his own blog.

Amy Duggar, Josh’s cousin, has said several things lately on social media that seem to be veiled bits of encouragement to her family. She has posted many times in the past about scriptural passages, so this is not unusual. But her postings of late do seem poignant considering the environment her family is in now.

This weekend, Amy Duggar posted a picture to Instagram that cited a piece of a sermon. She said of the passage:

“I didn’t write this, but I did take notes! As I was listening to this sermon God was working in my heart, and I just wanted to share this truth with you. Happy Saturday followers.”

    The passage reads:

“He is our peace! He will give you tranquility. He can heal anyone in any situation. Don’t give up on your marriage. Or friendship or a team or work or a family member. He can bring peace. Because he is peace. The Lord erases all doubts. Jesus is able to take every emotion in your heart and bring calm to it. He can erase every doubt in your mind. And when he moves there is no reason to doubt. Because he is here.”

She posted another to Instagram a few days earlier that simply read: “Never stop praying.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:17.

    That one she captioned:

“No matter what happens in life our prayers are heard. Pray for your enemies. Pray for people who judge you and mistreat you. Pray for God’s will in every aspect of your life.”

Amy Duggar has also posted to Twitter with thoughts that seem to be directed at her family and its recent troubles.

    God > My fears
    God > My insecurities
    God > My worry
    God > My everything

Sooner or later, God has to teach us that our true life is in Him, not in anything the world has to offer.

One post featured the same pic that reads “Never Stop Praying.”

Amy Duggar has pinned a post from back in October to the top of her twitter page.

Just remember one thing, God is with you. He will make everything beautiful at the right time and place.

  • Jessa Duggar Seewald Father-in-Law: Victims Should Speak Out

Jessa Duggar’s brother is under fire lately. When allegations surfaced about Josh Duggar having molested five girls when he himself was only 14, the blood was in the water.

Now Jessa Duggar’s father-in-law, Michael Seewald, is speaking out.

We’ve heard from Michael Seewald before, when he doubled down on Michelle Duggar’s condemnation of LGBT folks, calling homosexuality “an abomination.”

This time, Michael Seewald wants the public and the press to back off on Josh Duggar.

“Finally, the Duggar family’s opponents have found what they have been eagerly waiting for: shocking revelations of scandal by Jim Bob and Michelle’s firstborn son, Josh.”

He laughs off notions that the Duggar’s were too strict on Josh, Jessa, and the other kids.

“They think that had he access to sex education by Planned Parenthood, been allowed to watch edgy Hollywood films, been encouraged to experimentation with a girlfriend, or gotten free condoms from the local school nurse, then none of this would have happened.”

Many have said that the victims of Josh Duggar’s actions are being overlooked. Michael Seewald touched on that, as well.

“The victims of Josh’s actions should not be lost in all of this. Sadly, this type of thing is all too common. Victims of sexual abuse of any kind often suffer greatly for many years as a result of these sins. We should not downplay the seriousness of these offenses particularly, nor gloss over the pain and confusion they often bring, sometimes for a lifetime.”

He addressed the victims even more pointedly with this:

“Finally, a word to the millions of muted victims of sexual abuse all over the world. It is not your fault. No matter what the abuser may have said, you are not the one to blame. Do not keep silent if you are being abused, tell someone you trust, a parent, a teacher, a friend, anyone is better than silence. You are likely not the only one who has been abused. Tell someone so that they will be stopped. If the person you tell doesn’t contact the right people to help, tell someone else. Stay away from the abuser if at all possible, or avoid being alone with them. If the abuser is in your family, you may feel conflicted. You may love this person and can’t understand why they are hurting you. No matter how much you love the abuser you must tell someone. Remember, it is never okay for someone to treat you that way even if they are a parent, a sibling, or a friend. There are many people who will help you if you just break the silence.”

  • Jessa Duggar: ’19 Kids and Counting’ Star’s In-Laws Support Josh Duggar Despite Sexual Molestations

Jessa Duggar was likely one of her brother Josh Duggar’s sexual molestation victims. The 19 Kids and Counting star admits to having committed some heinous crimes when he was a teen–among them the molestation of five female minors–four of whom were his own sisters.

Instead of coming to the defense of Jessa Duggar–and sisters Jana Duggar, Jill Duggar Dillard, and Jinger Duggar (many speculate these were the siblings Josh Duggar molested)–her in-laws are siding with Josh.

Michael Seewald, father of Jessa Duggar’s husband Ben Seewald, said via a recent family blog post titled Grace Greater Than Sin, talks about the Duggar family and the nightmare they are now reliving.

“It pains me to see that they are now having to relive the nightmare that had been laid to rest well over a decade ago with Josh’s repentance and reformation, but I feel compelled to bring some context and reason to the bloodletting that many are engaging in and to come to the aid of our dear friends and family,” he writes.

“As it stands criminal charges were not brought against Josh but I believe that Josh’s parents acted in a way that godly parents should. They did not turn a blind eye, but earnestly sought help from the church, counselors, and eventually the police. In their efforts to salvage the wreckage that these transgressions brought, and bring healing to all involved, Jim Bob and Michelle are to be commended,” he adds.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar are to be commended? Is Jessa Duggar’s father-in-law really that blind?

It was only a couple of days ago when Jessa’s mother-in-law shared her support of Josh Duggar by promoting the support he received from Mike Huckabee.

Guinn Seewald posted Mike Huckabee’s defense of Josh Duggar on her Facebook page, but it has since been removed.

“Josh’s actions when he was an underage teen are as he described them himself, ‘inexcusable,’ but that doesn’t mean ‘unforgivable,’” Mike Huckabee wrote in the Facebook post. “He and his family dealt with it and were honest and open about it with the victims and the authorities. No purpose whatsoever is served by those who are now trying to discredit Josh or his family by sensationalizing the story.”

If Jessa Duggar was one of Josh Duggar’s victims–and many assume she was–how must it feel for her to watch her in-laws support a child molester and not support their own daughter-in-law? She’s expecting a baby, and deserves all the support she can get from both sides of her family.

Or do you suppose Jessa Duggar has long been brainwashed into the 19 Kids and Counting family’s way of thinking, and finds this all to be okay?

  • Jessa Duggar Seewald: Father-in-Law Calls Gays an Abomination

Jessa Duggar Seewald of 19 Kids and Counting comes from a family of conservative Christians, that much is already known. Her father’s insistence that she and then-fiancé Ben Seewald only “side hug” when courting, and the couple’s decision to not kiss before their wedding day has become the stuff of tabloid legend over recent months.

Jessa Duggar’s mom Michelle was called out for supporting an Arkansas initiative to ban transgender persons from using public restrooms for the gender they identify as. The called them “males with past child predator convictions that claim they are female.”

But Jessa Seewald also married into a family that hold to very strict conservative views. And they make no exception for gay people, either. Michael Seewald, Ben Seewald’s father, took to his blog recently to make a surprising statement about gay people.

He agreed that gay people are “born that way.” But his take on this had a twist to it: “We are all born that way– sinners that is.” Seewald takes a common refrain heard among homosexuals — and a Lady Gaga hit — and redefines it to suit his own beliefs, then slams it as sin that can be repented of and abandoned.

“One of the justifications the LGBT community puts forth for their behavior is the notion that ‘I was born that way.’

“As a Christian who accepts the Bible as authoritative in all things it should be no surprise to anyone that I am opposed to homosexuality. Homosexuality is a sin that Scripture categorizes as an ‘abomination’ to God. Abominations are sins that are particularly detestable to God and as such should be avoided ever more carefully.”

Seewald went on lump the inborn predisposition to same-sex attraction in with such behaviors as stealing, drunkenness, and wife beating. He made the blanket statement that same-sex attraction can be “acquired.”

“It is certainly possible that as a young person becomes sexually aware that they have same sex attraction. Others may not have had same sex attraction at first, but acquire it for a variety of reasons later on. Nevertheless, it should not be surprising that a person is born with a propensity towards specific sins. Some people struggle with telling the truth. Others have a tendency to steal. Many people have a predisposition towards drunkenness.

“The problem with the ‘I was born that way’ mentality is that it is used as an excuse to justify sinful behavior. Someone may have been born with a predisposition towards violence and have a short temper yet that is no excuse for beating his wife.”
