  • Mel Gibson Makes Hollywood Return at Sunday’s Golden Globes

Mel Gibson has been noticeably absent from Hollywood for about 10 years, following a headlining custody battle and a drunk, sexist and anti-Semitic encounter with the Malibu police department. These scenarios dropped the actor who brought Jesus Christ to the big screen to a level that cost him his fans and his career.

On Sunday, Hollywood is welcoming Mel Gibson back. He will serve as a presenter at this year’s Golden Globes. What most people are asking as they learn this tidbit of news, is why?

During his infamous arrest for drunk driving, Mel Gibson coined the phrase “sugar tits” when addressing a female officer. He also said to a male officer, “The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world. Are you a Jew?”

During his 2010 split from girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, the mother of his child, Mel Gibson shocked the media with use of the word “nigger,” and with threatening to bury Grigorieva in the rose garden.

Now he’s going to shine brightly in front of Hollywood’s best and brightest, as well as viewers tuning to to see the Golden Globes.

Producers announced on Tuesday that Mel Gibson will join Jim Carrey, Amy Adams, Helen Mirren, Kurt Russell, Jamie Foxx, Kate Hudson, Eddie Redmayne, and Channing Tatum on the roster of presenters. Ricky Gervais is hosting the show.

What’s your take on producers asking Mel Gibson to appear on stage at the Golden Globes? Are you surprised a boycott isn’t taking place to have him removed from the lineup? Is Hollywood really that quick to forgive and forget?

  • Mel Gibson to Present at Golden Globes, Ricky Gervais Thrilled

The Golden Globes have announced that Mel Gibson will be attending this year’s ceremony, and he will present an award.

The response has been mixed, as some Twitter users have questioned the choice.

“Mel Gibson? What are you, desperate,” said one user. “Mel Gibson = yuk,” said another.

But there’s one person who’s thrilled to see Mel Gibson presenting an award at this Sunday’s event – host Ricky Gervais.

“Mel Gibson is presenting an award at The Golden Globes. Thank you Jesus,” he tweeted.

Why is Ricky Gervais so happy? Well, Gibson has always been one of the comedian’s favorite targets.

“I hope I haven’t offended anyone. It’s not my fault. I like a drink as much as the next man. Unless the next man is Mel Gibson,” Gervais quipped at the 2010 ceremony.

“Our first presenter is beautiful, talented, and Jewish apparently. Mel Gibson told me that. He’s obsessed,” he said the next year.

Gibson, of course, found infamy in 2006 when he made anti-Semitic comments during a DUI arrest.

  • Kate Hudson Will Present at Golden Globes With Her ‘Pa,’ Kurt Russell

Kate Hudson will present at the 2016 Golden Globes with the man she calls “Pa,” Kurt Russell.

People magazine released a partial list of presenters on Tuesday and fans of the Hawn/Russell/Hudson family must be happy to see that the man the 36-year-old daughter of Goldie Hawn considers her father will present with her.

In addition, Kurt Russell’s latest film, The Hateful Eight, was nominated for three awards.

Joining Kate Hudson and Kurt Russell in presenting awards will be 31-year-old Jaimie Alexander, Bryce Dallas Howard, Mel Gibson and Olivia Wilde, according to AceShowBiz.

Eddie Redmayne and Helen Mirren, who are up for awards, will also present.

The 33-year-old actor was nominated for his transgender role in The Danish Girl, while Mirren nabbed a nod for her performance in Trumbo.

Also set to share the stage with host Ricky Gervais are Jim Carrey, Amy Adams, Jaimie Alexander, Patricia Arquette, Jamie Foxx, Amber Heard, Julianne Moore, J.K. Simmons and Channing Tatum.

The 73rd Golden Globe Awards will air 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT) Sunday, Jan. 10, on NBC.

  • Mel Gibson Accused Of Spitting In Woman’s Face, Says He Was Harassed

Mel Gibson denied all accusations that he shoved, verbally attacked and spat at an Australian female photographer outside a Paddington cinema on Sunday.

The photographer claims she was pushed by Gibson after she took a photo of him and his 24-year-old girlfriend, Rosalind Ross. They were outside the Palace Verona Cinema in Paddington when the incident happened.

News Corp Australia photographer, Kristi Miller, said Gibson spouted foul words and spat at her face while yelling at her.

“He was spitting in my face as he was yelling at me, calling me a dog, saying I’m not even a human being and I will go to hell,” said Miller in a statement to the Daily Telegraph.

“I took a photo of Mel and his girlfriend and when I turned around he shoved my back really hard … It shocked me because I wasn’t expecting it. I don’t know if it was his hands or elbow,” said Miller.

The photographer said she was terrified by the incident as she thought the actor was going to hit her in the face. She said Ross tried to calm Gibson and apologized to her.

The couple had been watching a film at the Verona which coincided with the Israeli Film Festival.

Alan Nierob, Gibson’s publicists, countered Miller’s claim. He said Gibson was being harassed by the photographer. The actor asked her to stop, but she did not.

“There was never any physical contact whatsoever and the story being told by her is a complete fabrication of the truth,” Nierob told Guardian Australia. NSW police are now investigating the incident to verify Miller’s claim.

The Oscar-winning actor is in Australia to start his newest project called Hackshaw Ridge which will start filming in September. His 5-year-old daughter, Lucia, was also with him in Sydney.

Gibson has been involved in violent outbursts in the past including one that involves his anti-semitic rants and altercations with his former girlfriend and mother of his daughter.

  • Mel Gibson Pursuing Katie Holmes?

Mel Gibson has had a rough few years. While his stock used to fly high, all that dropped quickly when recordings of him were made public that revealed a rough and tumble relationship with now-ex Oksana Grigorieva that portrayed Gibson as racist.

But maybe Mel is poised for a comeback. And if the Enquirer’s inside source is worth his pay, that comeback might be in the form of landing the ultimate one that got away — away from Tom Cruise — Katie Holmes.

“Mel drools over Katie!” the insider said. “She’s everything he wants in a woman – sexy, intelligent, independent – real wife material.”

Let’s do a little math for a moment, Mel Gibson is 58 years old. Katie Holmes is 35. Mel had finished shooting Mad Max a year before Katie was born. While Katie was just getting started with Dawson’s Creek, Mel was playing Daddy to Heath Ledger — who was Katie’s age — in The Patriot.

But then again, Mel is only six years older than Tom Cruise. But perhaps that’s going the wrong direction for Katie. But Enquirer says that won’t stop Mel.

“Mel’s trying to arrange a date with Katie through mutual acquaintances,” their source says. “He’s convinced she’ll fall for his charms if she’ll sit down for dinner with him.”

But what about the Oksana Grigorieva mess? Does Gibson figure he’s lived that down? After all, at one point other actors and crew didn’t even want to work with the guy.

“Mel’s taken a real beating over the past few years, which is why he’s kept such a low profile,” an insider said. “But despite everything he’s been through, he’s incredibly self-confident and believes he’s as big a catch as ever.”

Maybe it’s time to let Mel’s bygones be bygones. Robert Downey, Jr. has asked that the world do just that. After all the trouble Downey had in years past, he has gone on to do great things, once the public decided to let all that go. He once asked that for his friend Mel Gibson.

“I humbly ask that you join me, unless you are completely without sin, and in which case you picked the wrong fucking industry, in forgiving my friend of his trespasses and offering him the same clean slate that you have me and allowing him to continue his great and ongoing contribution to our collective art without shame.”

  • JFK Assassination Theorists Convene. Will Mel Gibson Be There? Jesse Ventura Will.

The JFK assassination happened 51 years ago today. So this weekend in Arlington, Texas, a group of enthusiasts will gather in a Sheraton Hotel ballroom to talk about who really did it. There is an array of guest speakers lined up, including Jesse Ventura, thanks to his Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura show on TruTV.

Mel Gibson was in a film called Conspiracy Theory. But if that’s what this was about, the ice would be thin, indeed. The question is, did we ever find out what Mel Gibson’s ex-wife was doing talking to JFK assassination conspiracy theorist Mark Lane?

Don’t remember that one? Let’s take a step back a moment.

Back in 2010, Mel Gibson was embroiled in a scandal of his own. His wife Oksana Grigorieva accused him of beating on her. They have since split, Mel had a lot of other issues that became very public, and he’s been hunkered down for a while.

But during all of this in 2010, Oksana Grigorieva met with Mark Lane. Now Mark Lane is considered near-royalty among JFK assassination conspiracy theory folk. He wrote a book called Rush to Judgment, which critiqued the Warren Commission report on the Kennedy killing. It was Lane’s book that popularized what has become known as the “grassy knoll theory” — the idea that Lee Harvey Oswald did not kill Kennedy, or at least did not act alone, but that someone on a nearby hill fired shots at Kennedy.

Lane’s reputation is based mostly around the Kennedy work he did, as well as books that outline other conspiracy theories, including those about the Martin Luther King, Jr. assassination. But he was also present that fateful day in Jonestown when 408 people poisoned themselves with Jim Jones. He was Jim Jones lawyer.

Now that Gibson seems to be trying to repair his image and get back in the saddle as a director. He is set to direct Hacksaw Ridge, starring Andrew Garfield.

  • Skye McCole Bartusiak’s Cause Of Death Determined

Skye McCole Bartusiak’s cause of death has finally been revealed, several months after she was found unresponsive by her boyfriend in her parent’s Houston home.

According to People, Skye’s official cause of death was due to an accidental overdose.

“The exact cause of death is an accident due to the combined effects of hydrocodone and difluoroethane with carisoprodol,” a Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences source told the news site.

According to the New York Daily News, Skye had the “pain killer Vicodin in her system along with the refrigerant difluoroethane (chemical refrigerant found in products such as Dust-Off) and the muscle relaxer carisoprodol.”

Skye, who was best known for her role as Mel Gibson’s seven-year-old daughter in The Patriot, was found dead in July at the young age of 21. Helen Bartusiak, Skye’s mother, tried to revive her, but unfortunately she was unsuccessful.

Helen also explained that her daughter wasn’t a drinker and didn’t do drugs. She said she was in overall good health and didn’t know what could have caused this seemingly healthy girl to die so suddenly. She did reveal that Skye had been suffering from seizures in the days leading up to that day.

“We lost our girl,” Helen said at the time of her daughter’s death. “We think she had a seizure and choked and nobody was there,” she added. “They were working on her for 45 minutes and could not get a heartbeat. She was a kind and really beautiful girl.”

Full autopsy reports are still pending.

  • Iron Man 4: Downey May Sign On If Mel Gibson Directs

Iron Man 4: Downey May Sign On If Mel Gibson Directs

Robert Downey Jr. is a man who has lived off of second chances. After multiple arrests and several stints in rehab, the 49-year-old actor finally pulled himself together to become not only one of the most revered artists working in film today but also the highest paid actor in Hollywood. He reportedly earned $50 million for his role in the film The Avengers, even though the movie featured an ensemble cast filled with big name movie stars.

It’s clear that Downey wants to give his friend Mel Gibson the opportunity to enjoy one of the many second chances that were given to him. There are currently no plans for a fourth Iron Man. However, Downey is contractually obligated to appear as Iron Man in the upcoming The Avengers: Age of Ultron and Avengers 3 movies.

The financial bottom line is going to be a big deciding factor on whether Downey straps on the Iron Man suit again. However, Shane Black, who directed Iron Man 3, thinks that Downey could be swayed to play Tony Stark once again if Mel Gibson was given the opportunity to direct Iron Man 4.

Remember Mel Gibson? He was one the biggest movie stars in the 80s and 90s. He also won an Academy Award for directing Braveheart in 1995. However, a drunken arrest coupled with a well-publicized anti-Semitic and sexist tirade, combined with a rage-filled alcohol-fueled recording left on his girlfriend’s answering machine and leaked for the whole world to hear, has put the the 58-year-old actor on the outs with both the Hollywood crowd and the fans who used to adore him.

So would Downey make another Iron Man with Gibson at the helm? The actor was asked during a recent interview, “Marvel badly wants Iron Man 4 and you’ve said you aren’t doing it. How about the idea you’ll do that movie if Mel directs it?” Downey responded, “Why not? That movie would be bananas.”

Downey recently spoke of Gibson to Deadline, “Nobody should make a case for somebody who just wants forgiveness but hasn’t changed, but he’s a fundamentally different guy. I think it was just the very worst aspects of somebody’s psyche being treated as though they were the blanket statement about a person.”

It’s been reported that when Downey was at rock bottom, Gibson was there to help. “Unless you are without sin — and if you are, you are in the wrong [expletive] industry — you should forgive him and let him work … This is my [expletive] time,” Downey said about Gibson during his acceptance speech for The American Cinematheque Award. “Mel and I have the same lawyer, same publicist and same shrink. I couldn’t get hired and he cast me. He said that if I accepted responsibility—he called it hugging the cactus—long enough, my life would take meaning,” Downey continued. “And if he helped me, I would help the next guy. But it was not reasonable to assume the next guy would be him.”

If it’s true and Downey would commit to another Iron Man with Gibson as director, Disney and Marvel would have a hard time turning down the deal. According to Box Office Mojo, the three Iron Man movies have combined to make over $2.4 billion worldwide.

What do you think? Does Mel Gibson deserve a second chance?

  • Kellan Lutz Has the Intellectual Muscles to Match His Ripped Physique

Kellan Lutz, known for his ripped physique and action movies, has got way more going for him than just his enviable physical gifts. The actor is also ripped, if you will, intellectually.

The 29-year-old Twilight alum studied chemical engineering at Chapman University before pursuing acting, but doesn’t care if people really only see him as a dumb jock.

“I don’t mind — people can judge a book by its cover,” Lutz told the New York Post. “As long as you stay out of the paparazzi and the press and you’re more known for your work than your personal life, there’s still a bit of mystery there.”

Lutz continues to improve his intellect. He is often found on set reading science books. He’s also working on some patents on some mysterious projects he has in the works.

“It’s great to have my acting world and also work on some of my chemical compounds and mixtures,” he says. “I can’t really talk too much about it, but we’re almost there.”

His physical attributes have certainly helped him line up some dream acting roles of late. He is starring in The Expendables 3 alongside Sylvester Stallone, who is trying to convince Lutz to chill a bit on the workouts so he doesn’t look like a wimp next to the muscular, young actor.

“I was bigger because of Hercules and now that I was actually wearing clothes, Sly was like, ‘You don’t have to work out so much. Don’t worry about it!’ ” Lutz told The Post of his co-star’s joke.

Lutz joins the star-studded cast, including Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Dolph Lundgren, as a young Navy SEAL who is learning the ropes. This time, the mercenary group goes up against a dangerous arms dealer, played by Mel Gibson.

“A lot of the young guns, when we weren’t working, we just wanted to be on set to watch the ‘men’ work — the veterans, the legends,” he says.

The Expendables 3 hits theaters on Friday.

  • George Clooney Stars, Jodie Foster Directs ‘Money Monster’

Clooney is set to star in a film called Money Monster that will be directed by Jodie Foster. The film will follow a TV show host named Lee Gates (played by Clooney) who gets taken hostage by a gunman while on the air and is forced to reveal high-stakes secrets to his audience (that increases quickly as the plot ensues) in order to survive.

Jodie Foster most recently directed an episode of the Netflix political thriller House of Cards. This isn’t the first film she has directed either. In fact she has three movies under her belt, including 2011’s The Beaver starring Mel Gibson and Jennifer Lawrence. She scored an Emmy nod in 2013 for directing an episode of Orange Is the New Black. This will be her first time directing George Clooney, however, and the combination of this actor and that director is intriguing.

George Clooney is, of course, preparing for his upcoming marriage to Amal Alamuddin. Now that tabloid rumors about her family being against the marriage have decreased significantly, it is hopeful that Hollywood’s long-running bachelor is living in reasonable peace.

Of course when one is an actor with the appeal of George Clooney, that means finding alluring roles. And this one in Money Monster sounds like it’s right up his alley. It sounds like others feel he’s perfect for the role, too.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to start our Money Monster adventure alongside such a talented and passionate team,” Jodie Foster said during a recent interview. “[Chairman] Tom Rothman and TriStar really get the movie and are the best cheerleaders our filmmaking team could hope for.”

TriStar Productions has gained the rights to Money Monster, and is set to start filming in 2015. George Clooney will be a married man by then.

“It is impossible to resist saying that we at TriStar hit the talent jackpot today. We are deeply grateful to all the exceptional people involved. There is no one in the business whose talent, dedication and intelligence, I respect more than Jodie Foster,” TriStar Productions Chairman Tom Rothman said. “And, as the bonus coupon on this blue chip investment, we get to enjoy George Clooney in a tour de force acting part. I have no doubt that his collaboration with Jodie will produce an iconic and cool film.”

Skye McCole Bartusiak, an actress best known for her role as Mel Gibson’s daughter in the 2000 movie, The Patriot, died Saturday at the age of 21.

“We lost our girl,” Skye’s mother, Helen McCole Bartusiak, told CNN on Sunday.

The cause of death is unknown at this time, but Skye’s mother said that epileptic seizures had plagued her daughter for most of her life and had returned in the past week.

According to CNN, Skye’s boyfriend found the young actress sitting up in her bed in the garage apartment adjacent to her parents’ Houston home.

“We think she had a seizure and choked and nobody was there,” said the heartbroken mother of the actress.

Helen reportedly started cardiopulmonary resuscitation on her daughter before paramedics arrived. “They were working on her for 45 minutes and could not get a heartbeat,” she said. “I’ve done CPR on that kid more than one time, and it just didn’t work this time.”

Skye began her film career as a 6-year-old in 1999’s The Cider House Rules. She followed that role with others, including 2001’s Don’t Say a Word, opposite Michael Douglas. In 2012, she starred in the thriller, Sick Boy. Bartusiak’s television credits include playing a young Kate Austen on Lost and starring in a lengthy arc on 24.

“The girl has lived such an amazing life,” Helen said. “She was a kind and really beautiful girl.”

  • Mel Gibson Empathizes with Shia LaBeouf

Just after accepting a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2014 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic, actor Mel Gibson shared his thoughts on the recent bizarre behavior of former Transformers actor Shia Labeouf, saying that his “heart goes out to [him].”

LaBeouf was arrested and charged with two counts of disorderly conduct and one count of criminal trespassing during a Broadway performance of Cabaret in June. The actor was allegedly smacking audience members, and would not stop smoking or spitting. This comes after a rather pedestrian display of “performance art” LaBeaouf had undertaken during a red carpet event at the Berlin Film Festival. The actor arrived wearing a paper bag over his head that read “I Am Not Famous Anymore.”

Here is poor Shia in his bag:

Alas, LaBeouf warned us this would happen:

Commenting on LaBeaouf’s antics of late, Gibson said, “When I see somebody like Shia LaBeouf with the bag on his head and stuff, my heart goes out to the poor guy. I think he’s suffering in some way, or why would he do that? And it’s easy to point the finger at him and say that he’s this, that, or the other, and it’s easy to judge. But I’m sure he’s going through some kind of personal, very painful, cathartic thing that he has to exorcise and get out there. He’ll probably play it out and come back. He’ll be all right.”

LaBeouf, 28, is a former Disney child star, and got his big break in 2007 in Michael Bay’s Transformers. LaBeouf starred in two sequels, but was replaced by Mark Wahlberg for the fourth installment of the franchise. In 2008, Shia played Henry “Mutt Williams” Jones III in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Gibson added, “I actually like the kid. I think he’s good.” The Braveheart director went on to share his views regarding the nature of fame – “You’re a target. And you have to be really adept at tap dancing and dodging the bullets. And sometimes you get hit. Sometimes mortally. It’s pretty bad.”

  • Mel Gibson Battery Charge To Be Erased

A deal is a deal. Back in the mid-to-late 2000s, Mel Gbson’s career took hit after hit, and not the good kind. In 2006, he was arrested for drunk driving, Gibson was recorded making a rash of anti-Semitic remarks then. That did not go over well in Hollywood. And, in the ensuing fracas, Gibson and Robyn, his wife of 26 years, divorced.

By 2010, Gibson was back in the swing with Oksana Grigorieva, a Russian musician with whom he has a daughter. But Gibson fouled up again, this time in an argument with Grigorieva during which he used racial slurs and allegedly slapped her in the mouth.

“You look like a f**king pig in heat and if you get raped by a pack of ni**ers it will be your fault.”

Grigorieva obtained a restraining order against Gibson.

Gibson was charged with battery, and pleaded no contest to the charge. Gibson had as much as admitted to the occurrence when, in a custody hearing, he said, “I slapped Oksana one time with an open hand in an attempt to bring her back to reality.”

But part of that plea included an arrangement whereby Gibson could have that charge and plea expunged from his record. All he had to do was 16 hours of community service and 52 weeks of counseling, as well as three years probation.

And now all that is fulfilled. As of March, 2014, Gibson’s probation is up, his community service and counseling has been completed, and his lawyers say he is ready to see his record cleaned up.

  • Mel Gibson: Should Hollywood Allow Another Chance?

Mel Gibson is hoping his role in The Expendables 3 in 2014 might be his Hollywood redemption. He is reportedly grateful to Sylvester Stallone for giving him this chance in light of his record of rude, drunken behavior and incredibly derogatory–and even anti-Semitic–comments and rants. Some people, however, aren’t so sure that The Passion of the Christ star deserves another chance at Hollywood fame. A journalist, however, is imploring Hollywood to give the actor just one more.

Alison Hope Weiner posted an opinion piece on Deadline.com recently, and claims Mel Gibson is a different man now. The sister of Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner, some feel the journalist doesn’t quite remember things the way they really happened.

It was back in 2006 when Mel Gibson was arrested for DUI and made a comment about Jews being responsible for causing all the wars. Not long after that headline-maker the actor was recorded verbally abusing his live-in girlfriend and mother of one of his children–Oksana Grigorieva. He was also accused of abusing her physically. Shortly thereafter, Gibson’s own stepmother filed a domestic violence restraining order against him and said she feared for her own life.

Alison Hope Weiner, however, says she got to know Mel Gibson, and that he deserves another chance.

“I’m telling you, my friend Mel Gibson has pulled himself together. He is sober seven years, hitting the gym for a role in an independent film, and thinking positively about the future. It has been 11 years since he was paid by a major studio to star in a film, and he hasn’t directed a studio film since Braveheart won five Oscars including Best Picture and Best Director. He wasn’t the bad person I thought he was back when I first wrote about him, and I’m telling you, he is now not the person you think he is. As one A-list star told me recently, ‘Mel has spent enough time in the penalty box.’”

She goes on to say he expressed “sincere empathy for the people he’d hurt.” She claims he told her he has “dedicated the last few years to getting to know people in the Jewish community and has quietly dedicated millions to them.”

A couple of imperative questions come to light when reading Ms. Weiner’s opinion piece. Is she on his payroll? And just exactly how well did she get to “know” Mel Gibson?

What do you think? Does Gibson deserve another chance in Hollywood?

  • Mel Gibson Should Be Forgiven, Says Journalist

Believe it or not, it’s been eight years since Mel Gibson was pulled over for drunk-driving and shouted a bunch of anti-Semitic slurs at the arresting officer, and since then his career never fully recovered.

But now a journalist who interviewed Gibson is saying all of that should end and people should give him a second chance.

Allison Hope Weiner, a freelance journalist who posted an article about Gibson on the site Deadline, said he’s been ostracized long enough and people should forgive him at this point.

Of course a lot of people will be surprised that Weiner feels so much sympathy for Gibson, considering he was accused of beating his wife Oksana Grigorieva. And who can forget those strange phone messages he left her? Once those got out, the media had a field day with them and it really looked like the 58 year old actor was done for good.

But Weiner says all of those bad decisions were attached to a very dark time period in Gibson’s life, so he should be forgiven and let back into the Hollywood in-crowd.

“During his breakup with Grigorieva, he’d gone through a terrible emotional breakdown and struggled to get healthy, gain joint custody of his infant daughter and deal with the fallout from the publication of those awful tapes,” she wrote.

“He was in a very bad place and we talked for some time about how difficult it was for him to deal with the pain he’d inflicted on his family.”

Not too long ago, Weiner interviewed Gibson over the phone, and during that conversation she felt some sort of connection to him, and by the end of the interview she said she understood him much better and believed he should be given a second chance. Weiner even said the two became friends after the interview.

“He got so upset talking about that period in his life that he ended our call abruptly,” she wrote. “He shared some very deep, personal feelings with me and was in so much pain, that I was honestly worried about him. It wasn’t the type of conversation that one has with an interview subject. I decided we were friends now and that I could no longer write objectively about him.”

The New Testament story of Jesus Christ will once again hit the big screens on February 28th. This time it has taken a different approach to Mel Gibson’s 2004 film The Passion of the Christ, which focused more on the final moments of Jesus in Jerusalem up until his torture and crucifixion.

The movie Son of God, however, will go more in depth about the birth of Jesus, his teachings, execution, and resurrection.

According to a synopsis on the film’s official website, this is an experience you would not want to miss:

Told with the scope and scale of an action epic, the film features powerful performances, exotic locales, dazzling visual effects and a rich orchestral score from Oscar®-winner Hans Zimmer.

For leading actor Diogo Morgado, conducting a little research prepared him for his role as Jesus.

The 6’2, Portugal-native portrayed Jesus once before in The History Channel’s Emmy nominated miniseries The Bible. As a Christian, Morgado’s new cameo gave him the opportunity to learn even more about his faith just by observing his surroundings.

While visiting the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem, Morgado told Good Morning America Wednesday that he encountered an experience that put everything into perspective.

He expressed how his portrayal of the Biblical leader inspires him to educate people, but especially children:

I saw this father and a young kid, they were praying. And I stood for like two hours there. By the time I left, they were still praying and I realized whatever I was about to do would be connectinore with that kid than his father. We live in a visual world now. Kids can learn a lot by seeing things rather than reading it. So I really understood the responsibility…

There’s a lot of people out there. A lot of kids, especially. They don’t know who exactly Jesus was. So, this is actually a tool that can teach these kids about why Jesus was who he was and why the Bible was the most important book.

Well, one character that will be standing on the sidelines this time around is Satan.

Film producer Roma Downey made sure to edit out any scenes involving the villain due to negative feedback regarding the appearance of Satan in The Bible, which critics said uncannily resembled President Barack Obama.

Below is a Fox News coverage about the controversy:

Downey and her husband, who were also executive producers of the miniseries, decided to cut actor Mehdi Ouzaani from the 2013 TV special. In response to the controversy, they also released statements asserting that the Moroccan actor “previously played parts in several Biblical epics — including satanic characters long before Barack Obama was elected as our president.”

Now, with another chance to redeem their filmmaking reputation, yanking Satan out of the equation may be the way to go (cough, cough).

“It gives me great pleasure to tell you that the devil is on the cutting-room floor,” Downey told The Hollywood Reporter. “This is now a movie about Jesus, the son of God, and the devil gets no more screen time.”

Well, I think that The Passion of the Christ will always be one of the most superb Christian films about Jesus. Therefore, I may just pass on this one UNLESS reviews direct me otherwise.

However, the film Noah, which will recreate one of the Bible’s most catastrophic events, seems very interesting. Honestly, why would you not want to see a big wooden boat fight against a colossal rainfall as God wipes out the earth with a flood?

What are your thoughts? Do you think that the portrayal of Jesus will be the same without his foe being in the mix?

  • Expendables 3 Trailer Is Revealed-See It Now [Video]

The trailer for the new Expendables 3 film is here, and it is packed with action. While it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, the franchise started with The Expendables in 2010, and came out with the sequel in 2012.

The films feature a cast of action stars that many people would probably argue are way past their prime as they have been in many films leading up the franchise.

As a result, some people have refused to see the films. In any case, the films boast a cast of some of the best actors from action films of all time.

Despite the fact that certain fans have chosen not to see the films, they have been highly successful at the box office, and the first film was able to bring in $270 million worldwide, while the sequel made $300 million.

The Expendables 3 brings in stars such as Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, and Mel Gibson, joining a cast that is already jam packed with actors such as Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Jet Li, among others.

Bruce Willis was originally a part of the cast, but has since been cut from the franchise.

Fans are now able to get a look at at what the latest from the franchise will bring with the new trailer, and a host of well-known actors that action fans have come to love over the years. It is hard to find a film with such a large cast, although it is hard to know if the big cast and big names are able to make the next installment in the series a success.

The plot is said to find Barney (Stallone), Christmas (Statham) and the rest of the team cominh face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson), who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney. Stonebanks, who eluded death once before, is making it his mission to end The Expendables, although Barney has other plans. It will be a clash between old school fighting and new high-tech weapons.

The film is directed by Patrick Hughes, and production began earlier this year in August. The Expendables 3 is set to be released on August 15, 2014.

  • Mel Gibson: New Girlfriend Models Scandalous Jeans

Mel Gibson was spotted recently with an attractive young lady, and now rumors are flying that the two are an item.

The woman in question, Nadia Lanfranconi, is a model and aspiring musician from Italy whose resume includes wearing some very revealing jeans in an ad for F Me, a clothing line designed for maximum lustiness.

While people are busy getting into a tizzy over whether or not Mel Gibson is dating a hot young thang, I’m thinking the real story here is that there is a company which markets jeans so low-cut that they come with a disclaimer.

Fme Jeans are the hottest jeans in the world, but they’re not for everyone.
We consider them to be very risque and therefore be advised that they’ll get you attention
like you’ve never had before. We advise you to take care when you go out wearing Fme Jeans clothing.

At any rate, Gibson was allegedly spotted rubbing Nadia’s shoulders at a West Hollywood restaurant recently, so we’ll see what happens. Nadia has only lived in the states for five years so it’s likely she’s not aware of his somewhat checkered past.

  • Mel Gibson Recorded While Ranting Yet Again: Twitter Reacts

Actor/director Mel Gibson has certainly not been shy in recent years about speaking his mind, which has gotten him into hot water and all but guaranteed his shunning from Hollywood. In 2006, he was arrested for a D.U.I. and went off on an anti-semitic diatribe directed at the police officer who pulled him over. In 2010, tapes were released online of Gibson’s verbal abuse towards the mother of his child, Oksana Grigorieva.

Still, he’s managed to self-fund a few projects that had a fair amount of success, although those came at the cost of having A-listers turn their backs on him after his tirades.

Now, it seems, he’s determined to hammer that last nail in his career’s coffin by not keeping his temper in check. The most recent outburst was directed at Joe Eszterhas–infamous screenwriter of “Showgirls” and “Basic Instinct“–who secretly recorded Gibson’s rant after he was invited to the actor’s home in Costa Rica in December to discuss a project.

“Why don’t I have a first draft of “The Maccabees?” What the f— have you been doing?” Gibson screams on the recording before moving on to an explative-filled rant about Grigorieva, saying she takes advantage of him (I probably don’t have to warn readers that the audio clip is NSFW, but I will anyway).

Gibson is reportedly looking into a lawsuit against Eszterhas for invasion of his privacy, but the damage has already been done.
