  • Lamar Odom: Is Failed Marriage His Fault?

As earlier reported by us, Khloe’ Kardashian has officially filed for divorce– adding another link to the long chain of professional and personal trouble Lamar Odom has been experiencing these past few years.

Lamar Odom started a promising NBA basketball career in 1999 with the Los Angeles Clippers. There he was named to the NBA All-Rookie Team, and gained great strides with the Clippers before leaving to play a brief stint with the Miami Heat. His most notable performances were during the following eight Laker seasons, in which he helped bring two NBA championships home as well as a Sixth Man of the Year Award.

He got chummy with a well-known family during this time with the Lakers, and soon we were keeping up with him and Khloe’ Kardashian’s whirlwind relationship that quickly resulted in marriage.

A fairy tale romance was not destined to be, however; in the words of Andre 3000– it looks like the couple’s love is ending in a Hollywood Divorce.

Who is to blame for another marriage gone wrong? While the public tries to decide (as if it is our business, and not theirs), many blame Lamar Odom’s publicized troubles for the divorce. Here are a few of his trouble’s highlowlights:

-On July 17, 2011, Lamar Odom was a passenger in a car that killed a 15-year-old pedestrian. Divorce-worthy? Probably Not.

-Lamar takes time off from NBA to care for seriously ill father in April of 2012. Divorce-worthy? Hopefully the reduction of income to care for his father wasn’t a cause of disgruntlement for Khloe’.

-Lamar is arrested for a DUI on August of this year and immediately checks into rehab only to leave almost immediately. Denied rumors of drug abuse run rampart via “trusty and reliable news sources.”

Has the kitchen gotten too hot for Khloe’ and she wants out, or was it just not meant to be?

This recent freestyle video of a shirtless and wasted Odom rapping about maybe cheating on his wife doesn’t help anything:

and Khloe’ is understandably staying quiet about the divorce right now.

Do you think Lamar should be blamed for the divorce? Arsenio Hall isn’t buying it,

fans seem to be nearing a breakdown:

and we all know that rarely is just one person to blame for a divorce. For whatever reason that it has happened, it’s hard to see another dream of living happily together fall apart.

  • Mac OS X Mavericks Introduces Performance Updates, Available Today For Free

At today’s Apple event, the company shared an update on the new Mac OS X Mavericks. The new operating system was first introduced back in June, and Apple has remained largely quiet about it since. Now it’s ready to share more about its latest desktop operating system.

Apple started out with a look at how Mavericks will help Mac users get more out of their hardware. For example, Mavericks will reportedly increase power efficiency by helping your computer get up to an hour more battery life when browsing the Web. A more impressive feature is called “Compressed Memory” which allows Mavericks to fit up to 6GB of active memory into 4GB of RAM.

Unless you have a MacBook or Mac Pro with a discrete graphics chip, you will have an Intel CPU with integrated graphics. Intel’s integrated graphics aren’t that great, but Mavericks allows the OS to get more performance out of it. It does this through a system that will automatically allocate the needed VRAM required for graphic intensive tasks. Mavericks will also utilize OpenCL to increase the graphics speed.

In terms of general software, Mavericks also has a number of new features, including file tags. These tags will allow you to create custom color-coded tags for files. For example, you can mark school project files with tags like “Mars” or “Space” to know which files correlate to which part of the project it belongs to.

Other software improvements and additions include better support for multiple displays, Apple’s infamous Maps app, iBooks including iBooks Textbooks.

On a final note, Apple announced that Mavericks will be a free download for any iMac and MacBook Pro made in 2007 onward. It will also be made available today.

  • Apple Adds Yandex As Safari Search Choice In Some Countries

Apple is giving its users more search choices with its upcoming operating system releases – iOS 7 and OS X Mavericks. Both were unveiled at the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference on Monday.

In the iOS 7 demo, it was revealed that Siri has some new features, and among them are Bing web search results, not to mention Twitter search and Wikipedia content. In addition to potentially making Bing more of a factor in users’ search habits, the features also help Apple better compete with Google’s (and Android’s) conversational search and Knowledge Graph.

But that’s not all that Apple has done with search. While the company didn’t exactly announce it, it has also made Russian search engine Yandex available as an option in Safari in both iOS 7 and OS X Mavericks. This is the case in Russia, Ukraine and Turkey, where that search engine already has a substantial user base.

Now, Apple hasn’t gone so far as to make Yandex the default search in these countries, at least not in the beta that developers have gotten their hands on.

    Safari adds Yandex

This signals that Apple isn’t ready to completely abandon Google just yet, despite the increasingly rocky relationship between the two companies. If you’ll recall, Apple recently dropped Google Maps for its own Maps product, and some have speculated that it’s only a matter of time before Google is no longer the default search on Apple products.

That could still happen, and we could just be in the early stages of Apple phasing it out. TechCrunch reported earlier this year, however, that Google could pay Apple $1 billion next year to remain the default search engine on iOS. How much would Microsoft pay? Or Yandex?

  • Mark Cuban Fined Over Twitter Rant At Refs

Mark Cuban, for the second time in a year, has been fined for his public criticism of game officials.

The Mavericks owner took out his frustration over two back-to-back losses on Twitter; the second loss–to the Hornets–was the straw that broke the camel’s back. He claims that the NBA’s review system is a giant waste of time.

“I’m sorry NBA fans,” Cuban tweeted. “I’ve tried for 13 years to fix the officiating in this league and I have failed miserably. Any suggestions? I need help.”

This time around, the penalty is $50,000, a far cry from the $250,000 he had to pay in 2006 after he complained about official calls during finals. It’s estimated that Cuban has spent well over a million bucks for his opinions.

  • Lamar Odom and Dallas Mavericks Break Up

Lamar Odom and Dallas Mavericks Break Up

Lamar Odom, who has become just as famous recently for his marriage to Khloe Kardashian and their appearance on the E! reality show “Khloe And Lamar” as he has for his skills on the court, announced today that he will be leaving the Mavericks effective immediately.

Odom said, “I’m sorry that things didn’t work out better for both of us, but I wish the Mavs’ organization, my teammates and Dallas fans nothing but continued success in the defense of their championship.” According to his statement, he will not be cut from the team but rather listed as “inactive”, which means he can still be traded at the end of the season. If he isn’t traded by June 29th, the Mavs will have to take responsibility for him and honor his contract, which specifies an $8.2 million paycheck.

Last summer proved trying for Odom’s personal life, which left his heart well outside of the game. In July, his 24-year old cousin was murdered and just days later, Odom was involved in a car accident (as a passenger) that left a teenager dead. Between the tragedies and dealing with having his life filmed for a television show, he barely found the energy to train during the lockout.

It looks like Odom will have some time to get his head straight and figure out his next move.

  • Lamar Odom: Endless Booing

    Lamar Odom: Endless Booing

Mavericks fans are completely fed up with Lamar Odom.

Odom has struggled throughout the season. His shooting has gone down by over 50% from last year and he totally tanked last night’s game against the Lakers; he finished 0-3 with 1 point and 1 rebound on the night.

Sports analysts predict that Odom will be bought out of his contract and receive $2.4 million.

Check out his stats compared to lead and league averages from the Yahoo Sports page:

    (image)

Fans have been demonstrating their distaste for Odom by showering him with boos each time he enters the court in Dallas.

Kobe Bryant is friends with Odom and thinks that the booing is totally stupid. He went on to defend Odom’s performance to NBC sports, “It’s tough,” Bryant said. “He comes to a team that’s pretty much set, you know what I mean? So it’s hard for him to find his niche. The fans, they don’t really understand what he does or how he can do it, you know what I mean?

“I hope they don’t unlock that mystery. I know. I know how to use him and to use his skill set and this, that and the other. But with this team, the roster that they had being pretty much set, it’s tough for him to be able to find his groove here.”

Bryant gave Odom a hug after the Mavericks lost last night.

A few months ago Bryant was visibly upset about losing Odom as a teammate and was short with interviewers:

Two months ago Odom was welcomed back in LA as a Maverick and received a standing ovation:

Do you think Bryant is putting too much of the blame on the team?

Dirk Norwitzki is a forward for the Mavericks and thinks Odom is suffering because he is over thinking his moves and should rely on his kinesthetic memory, “As a shooter, as a player, if you get a little hesitant, it’s over”…“Once you start thinking in this game, that’s tough.”

Hopefully Odom will find a team that will suit him better next season. Odom thanked people for their support on Twitter but he has lost fans along the way:

whats good people been a minute . still standing thanks 4 the positive energy and support(image) 17 days ago via web ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto

  • Dallas Mavericks’ Rick Carlisle Ejected From Game For Kicking Ball

Kick a ball in the NFL, score a field goal. Kick a ball in the NBA, get ejected; this isn’t the NFL, Rick. In case you missed it or just didn’t hear anything about it, Mavericks’ coach Rick Carlisle got a little heated recently. Usually when I get mad I just chill to some smooth jazz, but what does Rick do? He decides to kick the game ball into the audience and hit someone in the head; smooth move, ex-coach. . .er, X-lax, yeah, that’s what I meant.

    http://youtu.be/YdyMSvH-iOg

After he kicked the ball, relieving stress, he saw the err of his ways and approached the dazed audience member, apologizing for his mistake. Apologies aside, though, the referees decided to eject Rick from the game for his angry deed. According to one source, Rick later released an apology for his actions stating:

“I want to apologize to our franchise, Mark [Cuban], our fans,” Carlisle said after the game. “The incident where the ball got kicked into the stands — that can’t happen. My intent was not to kick it into the stands, I was trying to kick it to the referee, but I’m not a very good kicker. But, that can’t happen; the officials made the right call on that one. That’s a regrettable situation.”
