  • Mass Effect Getting Anime Adaptation This Fall

Have you ever wondered what Mass Effect would be like as a movie? Well, it’s not a movie, but Funimation is making an anime based on the series.

Announced last year, nobody really had any idea of what an anime adaptation of Mass Effect would look like. We finally get our first look today at SXSW where Funimation’s James Vega showed off some concept art from the adaptation.

The anime is called Mass Effect: Paragon Lost. It will focus solely on the character of James Vega who was introduced in Mass Effect 3. The animation will be handled by Production I.G. who are well known as the studio behind Ghost in the Shell. It should be out this fall.

Funimation also announced the release date for the Dragon Age anime which will be called Dragon Age: Dawn of the Seeker. It will be launching on May 29. There’s some footage here that shows off a style similar to Appleseed’s CG animation techniques.

Some people are less than excited about the anime being based around James Vega. Since his introduction in the third game, some fans voiced their dislike of the new character’s starring role.

  • Mass Effect 3 Doesn’t Like Your Face

If you’ve been playing the Mass Effect series since the first game and are about to jump into the third game, you might want to start working on a new Shepard.

VentureBeat is reporting that players have found themselves unable to import their custom character faces into Mass Effect 3 if they have been playing since Mass Effect 1 on the Xbox 360.

EA seems to think it’s a problem with save data that is on their cloud service. That seems to not be the case as many users are having the same problems when their save data that was never on the cloud.

Funny enough, the problem is affecting those players who have switched from the Xbox 360 to the PC version throughout their time playing it. The game used a multiple digit code to load up a player’s custom character in each game. It seems that these codes are not working if the character was created in Mass Effect and carried over to Mass Effect 2.

Twitter seems pretty broken up over the news with a few players even saying they won’t play the game until its fixed.

Mass Effect 3 won’t import my character’s face from the previous games. Looking for a fix. #disappointed 1 hour ago via web ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto

If Mass Effect 3 won’t let you import Shepard’s face from ME1, it should at least let you import your character from Saints Row 3 instead. 1 hour ago via Twitter for iPad ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto

Huge Mass Effect 3 disappointment – all of my ME1 and ME2 choices were there, but my custom face was gone. I had to build a new Shepard! 2 hours ago via web ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto

  • Mass Effect 3 Extended Trailer Released

Mass Effect 3 Extended Trailer Released

We reported last week on EA releasing a teaser for a Mass Effect 3 trailer that would air during The Walking Dead. Well, that trailer did air, but EA did us one better. They released an extended version of that trailer online for all to enjoy.

You can watch the trailer now, but I would like to point out a few things in the trailer worth mentioning.

First things first, is that Ashley? The same Ashley that I had no remorse over letting die in the first Mass Effect because she was a xenophobic jerk? While looks aren’t everything, I do feel kind of bad about letting her die now.

We get to see the first full conversion from human to husk. The first two games never showed the actual conversion from organic to machine so being able to see the actual conversion makes it far more terrifying than originally thought.

The last thing to notice are the new big enemies at the end of the trailer. It will be interesting to see how large enemies will transition to in-game combat. Most games that feature large enemies as normal encounters tend to get boring fast as they devolve into bullet sponges that serve only to frustrate.

All in all, it’s an impressive trailer that brings an emotional edge that BioWare seemed to lack in Mass Effect 2. It raises my personal hype level for Mass Effect 3 to new heights. I was kind of let down by Mass Effect 2, but I have high hopes for the final chapter.

But seriously BioWare, you want to get on that Jade Empire sequel after you finish up Mass Effect 3?
