  • “Jessica Jones” Gets Green Light for Second Season

Jessica Jones is coming back for a second season. Netflix made the announcement earlier this month at the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena.

Not much information was available at the show’s panel. Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb explained.

“We learned about the pickup when you guys learned about it, so we’re at that stage of just going ‘yay!’” he said.

Following the panel, showrunner Melissa Rosenberg offered a few tidbits of information about the second season of Jessica Jones for reporters.

“I think I just want to continue with her character. She’s a very damaged character and her damage goes beyond Kilgrave [David Tennant]. There’s a lot to mine from in her backstory and in her present day situation. I think we’ll find something,” she said.

Adding that she doesn’t know when Jessica Jones season two will start, Rosenberg says she plans to continue using ideas from the Alias series of comics by Brian Michael Bendis. That’s where Jessica Jones–the character–first appeared.

“I will always use as much as I possibly can from the comic book,” she said, noting that they’ll have to allow for some changes given the differences in the mythology between the Marvel comics and ongoing Marvel Cinematic Universe. “The MCU is very different in terms of its mythology. In the books, everyone knows superheroes are walking around, there’s a lot of things building toward Secret Wars. We’re probably not going to be able to do a totally parallel storylines. But I take every little piece I can because it’s so good.”

Did you catch the first season of Jessica Jones on Netflix yet? Are you excited to learn a second season will soon be in the works?

Jessica Jones stars Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, as well as Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, Wil Traval as Will Simpson, Erin Moriarty as Hope Shlottman, Eka Darville as Malcolm Ducasse, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth, and David Tennant as Kilgrave.

  • Krysten Ritter: Jessica Jones Not A Very Good Superhero

Krysten Ritter plays the role of Jessica Jones in the Netflix series of the same name. During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actress dished on the series, and shared a few things about her character that might come as a surprise.

Ritter says her character is “as developed in the show as she is in the comics.”

Krysten Ritter read all of the comics when she landed the part. She explains that Jessica Jones is a former superhero with a dark past that comes back to haunt her.

Those unfamiliar with the Marvel comic book series will be surprised to learn that Jessica Jones isn’t what most expect of a superhero.

“She represses a lot of her abilities. She kind of wants nothing to do with it, but when she has to, she will rise to the occasion. She’s super strong. She’s a bit of a brawler. She can fly, but not well … at all. So she doesn’t do that often, because she’s so bad at it. She’s just not a very good superhero. She’s a real misfit. She’s a real f—ing misfit,” Krysten Ritter explains.

The actress recently wrapped eight straight months of filming–the most she’s ever worked in this field at one time. She believes her lack of sleep during that time lent itself to her character.

“That’s part of it. Jessica Jones doesn’t sleep much either. All of it really feeds the character. She doesn’t sleep. She’s got odd hours. It works for the role,” Krysten Ritter says.

The 13-episode season of Jessica Jones is now available on Netflix. Even those without a penchant for poring over comics will find a lot to love–even if the heroine comes up short in her superhero prowess.

  • Krysten Ritter Proves She’s Got What It Takes To Be The Ultimate ‘Jessica Jones’ in New Trailer

Krysten Ritter proves in a new trailer released on Tuesday that she has what it takes to be the ultimate Jessica Jones.

The preview features Ritter as the Marvel character teaming up with Luke Cage, played by Mike Colter, taking on the evil Kilgrave, portrayed by David Tennant, who returns from her past.

Romantic tensions develop between Jessica and Luke as they attempt to fight Kilgrave’s mind control.

Also starring in the feature film are Carrie-Anne Mossas attorney Jeri Hogarth, Rachael Taylor as Jessica’s best friend, Trish “Patsy” Walker, aka Hellcat, Eka Darville as her neighbor Malcolm, Erin Moriarty as her client Hope, and Wil Traval as Det. Will Simpson, aka Nuke.

According to UPI, Jessica Jones possesses superhuman strength in the comis and possesses the ability to fly. After Kilgrave possesses her with his mind control capabilities, Jessica refuses her mad skills and leaves superhero life to open her own private investigation agency.

In the film, Krysten Ritter’s character will return to her glory days as a superhero.

Jessica Jones, which has garnered some positive reviews from media outlets like The Hollywood Reporter, will premiere Nov. 20 on Netflix.

Krysten Ritter is best known for her rolse as Gia Goodman on The CW series Veronica Mars. She also starred as Jane Margolis on AMC drama Breaking Bad and Chloe on ABC sitcom Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23.

Who is getting psyched to see Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones?

  • Carrie-Anne Moss Joins Netflix’ Jessica Jones In Gender-Bend Role

Carrie-Anne Moss of The Matrix is joining Netflix’s Jessica Jones in what is being called a “gender-bent” roll.

During a panel discussion for the upcoming show at New York Comic Con on Saturday, Marvel’s head of television, Jeph Loeb, announced the news that the character, Jeryn Hogarth, would be undergoing a gender-bend.

Carrie-Anne Moss, who joined the cast on stage, will be playing the new twist to the character with the name Jeri Hogarth.

Originally, Jeryn Hogarth was a brilliant lawyer and business executive. Working under the pervue of Wendall Rand, who was known as the father of Danny Rand (a.k.a. the Iron Fist), Jeryn eventually became the head of Heroes for Hire, an organization that offers legal help to a slew of superheroes.

According to Entertainment Weekly, in Marvel comics lore, Jeryn Hogarth also has connections to Luke Cage.

“They’re not friends but they need each other,” Moss said of Hogarth’s relationship with Jessica Jones. “They come to each other in these scenes, and there’s a lot of back and forth and bad flirtation at times, in life. They’re funny together and can’t stand each other. It’s interesting.”

Polygon reports that it is unclear exactly what Moss’ role will be in the show, but they are assuming that she’ll be working closely with the series’ titular character as an attorney.

Krysten Ritter, who plays Jones, said the relationship between Hogarth and Jones is an interesting one, to say the least.

“It’s by far the most complex and interesting and special friendship between two women that I’ve seen in a movie or television,” Ritter said. “We’re there for each other in ways that we don’t see, but we’re never talking about a dude or an outfit. It’s a really pure bond.”

Jessica Jones will stream on Netflix beginning Nov. 20.

  • X-Men Apocalypse: New Details Revealed

    X-Men Apocalypse is coming!

Although lots of promotional events are taking place for the upcoming DVD and Blu-Ray release of X-Men: Days Of Future Past, there’s been lots of talk about what fans can expect to see in the highly anticipated sequel.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past screenwriter, Simon Kinberg, recently shared a number of details about the upcoming 2016 film.

During a recent interview with Collider, he revealed which supporting characters would have a more dominant focus in the new Marvel Comics’ superhero-based film.

“The relationship between Beast and Mystique is a really interesting one that we didn’t have a lot of time to explore in Days of Future Past, so we’ll have an opportunity to do more of that in Apocalypse,” Kinberg said.

Although the connection between Mystique and Beast had been established in X-Men: First Class, their relationship wasn’t really a main focal point in Days Of Future Past.

The second installment in the X-Men film series focused on the dynamic narrative and relationship between Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr, which made it nearly impossible to tie in the duo’s connection.

However, Kinberg insists Mystique’s story will be a dominant focus in the new film. He also revealed a number of interesting characteristics about Mystique.

“Part of what’s really interesting about Mystique’s character is that she is, in some ways, the child of both Erik and Charles,” explained Kinberg.

“She grew up with Charles and then she sort of became a woman with Erik, so her being the cross-pollination, if you will, of those two philosophies and those two men is something we can explore in the movie too.”

Although Kinberg previously stated that Apocalypse will definitely be the last in the trilogy, that doesn’t mean this will be the last time fans will get to see the First Class characters.

“I will say that [X-Men: Apocalypse] is definitely the close of a trilogy for those First Class characters — which isn’t to say we won’t see them in future movies, hopefully we will, but it’s a completion of an arc for them,” he said. “I think that the friendship between Erik and Charles, which has always been so integral to the franchise, is something we’re continuing to explore and hopefully deepen with Apocalypse.”

X-Men Apocalypse is tentatively scheduled to hit theaters nationwide on May 27, 2016.

  • Marvel Characters Are Coming To Disney Infinity

Last year, Disney went head to head with Skylanders with Disney Infinity. Like Skylanders, the game requires players to buy physical toys that can then be scanned into the game to complete challenges. So far, the game has only featured characters from Disney’s stable of in-house characters, but it appears the game will soon be getting characters from properties that Disney owns.

In a new trailer for Disney Infinity, Captain America’s shield all but confirms that Marvel characters will be coming to the game this year. It doesn’t hurt that the trailer was also shared by the official Marvel Entertainment YouTube page. While no solid details were offered, it does appear that characters from the Marvel cinematic universe will be joining the game. In other words, you can assume The Avengers will be in the game. As for other Marvel characters, like Spider-Man, it’s a bit more murky. Disney owns the character, but the film rights belong to Sony and the game rights to Activision. It’s unknown if that will have any effect on getting Spider-Man into the game.

Besides the inclusion of Marvel characters, the trailer also makes reference to a 2.0 version of Disney Infinity. We don’t know if this means Disney is working on a sequel or just an update that includes Marvel characters. My money is on the latter as Disney may want to focus on just making new content for the first game instead of releasing a new game every year. The 2.0 status could also refer to Disney Infinity coming out on the PS4 and Xbox One. We won’t know until Disney says more about it though.

As for other Disney properties, like Star Wars, it’s safe to assume that they’ll be showing up in Disney Infinity sooner or later as well. With Star Wars Episode VII now in production, Disney will want to hype the movie all they can with video games, toys and more. With Disney Infinity, they have the perfect opportunity to appeal to fans young and old with a video game and toys in a perfect marriage that Star Wars should have been involved in ages ago.

Unfortunately, the above teaser doesn’t give us a release date for the Marvel characters or the version 2.0 of Disney Infinity. I’d wager we’ll see it sometime during Summer though.

  • ‘Star Wars’ Comics to be Published by Marvel

‘Star Wars’ Comics to be Published by Marvel

In a move that was fairly inevitable, Disney and Lucasfilm today announced that Marvel Entertainment will be publishing Star Wars comics for the foreseeable future. Marvel is a subsidiary of Disney, as it Lucasfilm, which was purchased in 2012 from George Lucas for over $4 billion.

Starting in 2015 Marvel will have exclusive rights to both create and publish Star Wars comics and graphic novels.

Marvel will be taking the publishing rights to Star Wars back from Dark Horse Comics, which has created and published Star Wars comics since 1991. Before that, Marvel had published Star Wars comics, including the original Star Wars #1.

“Dark Horse Comics published exceptional Star Wars comics for over 20 years, and we will always be grateful for their enormous contributions to the mythos, and the terrific partnership that we had,” said Carol Roeder, director of franchise publishing Lucasfilm. “In 2015, the cosmic adventures of Luke, Han, Leia, and Chewbacca will make the lightspeed jump back to Marvel, to begin a new age of adventures within the Star Wars universe.”

Just this past fall Dark Horse was responsible for adapting one of George Lucas’ original Star Wars screenplay drafts into a short 8-issue comic series. Titled The Star Wars, the comics featured an older Luke Skywalker, a green alien Han solo, and a mask-less Darth Vader.

  • X-Men: Apocalypse Will Feature Major Marvel Villain

More than a decade after the first X-Men movie made its way to theaters, comic fans were treated to a pleasant surprise via Bryan Singer’s twitter. The director has informed fans that the next X-Men installment will be named “X-Men Apocalypse” and we now know there are plans for it to be released in the summer of 2016:

This is particularly exciting news because the title seems to suggest that there will finally be an introduction to a major X-Men villain who has mysteriously been lacking screen time: Apocalypse. So far, Magneto has been the mainstay villain and Phoenix….was a flop. But the diabolical and ancient mutant brings with him the promise of a fresh direction for the franchise.

Apocalypse is largely known for his connection to popular story arcs “Mutant Massacre”, involving his genetically twisted Four Horseman (including previously introduced X-Man, Angel) and “Age of Apocalypse”. Many speculate that it is in fact the Age of Apocalypse storyline that will be the basis for the upcoming movie. This is likely due to the introduction of the character Blink in the “Days of Future Past” movie. Blink had a pivotal role in AOA. Aside from the Twitter announcement, not much else has been leaked about the movie. At this point aside from the name, the direction is anyone’s guess.

As for Apocalypse, also known as En Sabah Nur, he has long been one of the X-Men’s toughest foes. The lengthy list of the mutant supervillain’s powers include flight, the ability to shapeshift into various forms, and superstrength said to match or surpass that of the Hulk. In addition to virtual immunity to aging, he has had access to advanced alien technologies that has severely augmented his powers and abilities. Of course, how much of comic book canon will make it into the movie is unknown. Will Apocalypse be an all-powerful ancient Egyptian villain? Will the selection of Age of Apocalypse storyline introduce the legendary M’kraan Crystal (thereby opening the door to a true Phoenix Saga)? There’s nothing to do for now but look forward to the “Days of Future Past” movie and hope for the best.

  • Official ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Trailer Released

Though Sony’s continuing ownership of the Spider-Man movie rights have kept the superhero out of Marvel’s expanding Avengers-related movie titles, last year’s The Amazing Spider-Man rebooted the franchise and was surprisingly well-received by fans. The series will continue next year with the release of The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

At San Diego Comic Con this year the movie’s producers teased the main villain for the sequel, Electro. Jamie Foxx will play the Spider-Man villian with a heavily CG costume inspired by Electro from the “Ultimate Marvel” comics.

Today Sony finally released the first full-length trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Foxx’s Electro features prominently, though at least two other Spider-Man villains make an appearance. A mech-like Rhino will be a part of the movie, played by Paul Giamatti, and a version of the Green Goblin can also be glimpsed in the video.

As for the rest of the cast, Andrew Garfield will be back in the title role as Peter Parker and Emma Stone will once again play doomed Spider-Man love interest Gwen Stacy. Denis Leary will be back as Stacy’s police Captain father and Martin Sheen is once again credited as Spider-Man motivation Uncle Ben. Sally Field will again play Aunt May, while Chris Cooper enters the franchise as the head of OsCorp, Norman Osborn. His son, Harry Osborn, will be played by Dane DeHaan of Chronicle fame.

  • Terrence Howard Blames Robert Downey Jr. for His Absence in the ‘Iron Man’ Series

Terrence Howard’s honesty may get him in trouble some day, but according to him, “…who gives a f*ck.”

On “Watch What Happens Live,” the topic came up about his cut from “Iron Man 2” and “Iron Man 3” in which actor, Don Cheadle, replaced him.

When asked by a caller why he was booted from the latest sequels, his response was rather indirectly direct, if you catch my drift.

“It turns out in order for – this is going to get me in a lot of trouble – it turns out that the person that I helped become Iron Man … when it was time to re-up for the second one, took the money that was supposed to go to me and pushed me out,” he said.

Well, of course Howard was referring to Mr. Robert Downey, Jr. himself.

Howard went into detail how the three-picture deal was to be separated between him and Downey. For each sequel, they both would receive certain amounts. Thus, that wasn’t good enough for the “Iron Man” super hero and the studio ended up breaking Howard’s contract so that Downey could earn more money.

“They came to me [for] the second and said, ‘We will pay you one-eighth of what we contractually had for you, because we think the second one will be successful with or without you’,” he said. “And I called my friend that I helped get the first job, and he didn’t call me back for three months.”

Downey’s salary for the Marvel movie trilogy has been treating him pretty well, earning him $50 million.

However, Howard was the highest paying actor in the first “Iron Man” movie in 2008, profiting $4.5 million. So, it’s clear why Howard would feel a little disappointed about the whole ordeal.

Oddly enough, in 2010, Howard shared with E! News a totally different response about the split.

He claimed, “…it was a wonderful split…Robert Downey Jr. was born to play that part and it was wonderful that that part has given him the stature that he was supposed to hold before.”

Howard may seem a little TOO bitter being that he blames “Iron Man” for “killing his career,” but at least he’s making another debut with his latest project “The Best Man Holiday.”

When asked how his current relationship is with Downey, Howard responded, “Oh, I love him. God’s gonna bless him.”

Well, we surely hope things do work out for Howard and his ‘friend’.

In the video below is an interview with Cheadle sharing his views on the matter.

  • First ‘Captain America: Winter Soldier’ Trailer Released

Fans of Marvel comics and movies are only two weeks away from hitting theaters for Thor: The Dark World. Marvel Studios, though, isn’t resting on the success of just the Thor and Avengers movies. The production company is already gearing up for the 2014 release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

The first trailer for Winter Soldier was released today, teasing yet another big-budget Marvel superhero movie. The villain of the movie, Winter Soldier, is prominently featured throughout the trailer. Without spoiling the movie for newer fans of the Marvel movies, the origins of the villain are quite personal for both the Captain and Black Widow.

The trailer also touches on the Captain’s staunch values. It appears that the hero might have to confront some hard decisions about loyalty and S.H.I.E.L.D.’s place in the world. Decisions that could lead to the fate of the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier, which is spoiled at the end of the video.

Captain America: Winter Soldier is scheduled to premiere on April 4, 2014.

  • LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Brings Brick Building Action To Retailers Today

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Brings Brick Building Action To Retailers Today

Earlier this year, Warner Bros. and Traveler’s Tales announced that it was finally bringing Marvel to the LEGO universe with LEGO Marvel Super Heroes. Since then, a number of previews and trailers have confirmed that it will be the most complete Marvel game to date with over 100 heroes to choose from. Now you, the player, can finally take all these classic heroes out for a spin.

Warner Bros. Games announced that LEGO Marvel Super Heroes is now available at North American retailers for the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, 3DS, PS Vita and PC. The game will also be coming to the PS4 and Xbox One on November 15 and 22 respectively.

“We are excited to finally bring LEGO gamers and Marvel fans the action-packed game they have all been waiting for with LEGO Marvel Super Heroes,” said Tom Stone, Managing Director, TT Games Publishing. “LEGO Marvel delivers an original story told in classic LEGO humor and with more than 100 playable characters, the game also includes an impressive roster featuring some of the most iconic fan favorites, such as the Hulk and Spider-Man, spanning the entire Marvel Universe, including Stan Lee!”

Marvel fans will be happy to know that LEGO Marvel Super Heroes not only features all their favorite heroes, but the most iconic locations from the Marvel universe as well. Some of the areas players will explore include Stark Tower, the Daily Bugle, the Baxter Building, the X-Mansion, Asgard, Doctor Doom’s Castle and more.

As for the story, players can expect something along the lines of what they saw in The Avengers but amplified to include the entire Marvel universe. Also, Loki appears to only be a bit player this time around as Galactus returns as the central antagonist.

“The collaboration with LEGO and TT Games, an uninhibited creative process, has resulted into an outstanding execution that will delight children and adults alike,” said Andreea Enache-Thune, Senior Vice President, Games & Digital Distribution, Marvel Entertainment. “LEGO Marvel Super Heroes reaffirms our commitment to quality. With every game build and every trailer that brought us closer to the finish line, our enthusiasm has grown exponentially and to say that we are excited to see this game come to life is an understatement.”

So, how much is this game going to cost? Well, that’s the funny part as LEGO Marvel Super Heroes may have the strangest pricing of any game I’ve ever seen. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes will cost $50 on Xbox 360 and PS3, $40 on Wii U, 3DS and PS Vita, $30 on PC and $60 on PS4 and Xbox One. Given that LEGO games generally cost $50 on current gen platforms, it’s kind of surprising to see them raise the price to $60 on next-gen platforms. With the extra month of development time, there may be more content in those versions, but I doubt it.

  • James Spader Cast as Next ‘Avengers’ Villain

After the Joss Whedon-directed The Avengers proved a hit with audiences, all eyes have been focused on Marvel for details on what fans can expect from the next Avengers movie. At Comic-Con this year Whedon revealed the title for the next movie: Avengers: Age of Ultron.

In the months that have followed, speculation has run rampant about how Ultron, a super-powerful megalomaniac robot, will be depicted on the big screen. Joss Whedon earlier this month revealed that Ultron’s powers in comic books will be scaled down for the movie, which is scheduled for a May 1, 2015 release. This week, the casting information for the infamous villain has been revealed.

Marvel studios announced that actor James Spader has been cast as Ultron in Avengers: Age of Ultron. It is unknown whether Spader will simply voice a fully-realized computer-generated Ultron, or whether the actor will have a greater role in the character’s performance. Spader is best-known for movies such as Stargate and Secretary, as well as network TV shows such as Boston Legal, The Practice, and The Office.

In addition to Ultron, it has been announced that Marvel heroes Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver will be joining the avengers in the sequel. Recent casting rumors pin younger Olsen sibling Elizabeth Olsen as the Scarlet Witch and Kick-Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been cast as Quicksilver.

  • LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Trailer Teases Baddies

Gamescom is in full swing and gamers are awash with new video game details. Warner Bros. and TT Games have now released the latest trailer for LEGO Marvel Super Heroes.

As seen previously, players will take on the role of Avengers members, X-men, the Fantastic Four, Stan Lee, and practically any Marvel hero in the publisher’s history. Today’s new look at the game highlights the many Marvel villains that will be scheming to create Dr. Doom’s Doomray of Doom out of “Cosmic Bricks.”

Dr. Doom, Doc Ock, Magneto, Silver Surfer, Loki, and other villains are all included in the game. Galactus himself is shown at the end of the video, a callback to the first LEGO Marvel Super Heroes teaser.

  • Thor: The Dark World Official Trailer Released

Since the success of last year’s The Avengers and this summer’s Iron Man 3, Marvel fans have been waiting for the next twist in the increasingly complex Marvel movie universe. They won’t have to wait long – Thor: The Dark World will be hitting theaters on November 8. Chris Hemsworth will be donning the god of thunder’s armor once again, Natalie Portman will be returning as astrophysicist/love intrest Jane Foster, and Tom Hiddleston will be reprising his role as trickster god Loki.

Marvel today released an official trailer for The Dark World as part of YouTube’s Geek Week programming. It’s the first look at the movie fans have gotten since a teaser trailer was released back in April. The new trailer shows a bit more of the movie’s action sequences, including Thor and Loki fighting side-by-side.

  • Lego Marvel Super Heroes Previewed at Comic-Con, Features Playable Stan Lee

Though Lego’s most recent Lego video game announcement involves a game version of the upcoming The Lego Movie, the next Lego game fans are really waiting for is Lego Marvel Super Heroes.

The last look Marvel and Lego fans got at the game was back in June, when a trailer showed off most of the current Avengers movie lineup in the game. This past week, fans at San Diego Comic-Con got another look at the title.

Comics legend Stan Lee, fresh off his meeting with the Comic-Con Mech, was a part of the panel. He revealed the latest trailer for Marvel Super Heroes, which features some of the larger characters in the Marvel universe, including Hulk, Thing, Juggernaut, Blob, and Colossus.

Lee also revealed that he himself will be a playable character in the game. Lee was also a playable character in last year’s video game version of The Amazing Spider-Man, complete with web-slinging superpowers.

  • Here’s A Launch Trailer For That Insane Deadpool Game

You may remember from early this year that Activision was working with High Moon Studios on a Deadpool video game. The popular Marvel character’s game was nearly forgotten, however, as the excitement of E3 drowned out just about every summer game except for The Last Of Us.

Now the Merc with a Mouth is back to remind you that his game is launching on Tuesday. To celebrate the occasion, here’s a gameplay trailer filled with dubstep, explosions and mayhem:

Not gonna lie – Deadpool looks like a lot of fun. It’s especially encouraging as comic book game adaptations don’t exactly have a stellar track record. Although, it has been getting better in recent years. Here’s hoping this is another success so more publishers are convinced to support comic book games.

Deadpool launches tomorrow, June 25, for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

  • Iron Man 3 Holiday Greetings From Tony Stark

In all the commotion surrounding the holidays, it can be hard to keep focus on the really important things. For example, the momentary excitement over a Wii U could, for just a moment, make someone forget that there is a new Iron Man movie being released in less than five months.

Marvel knows this, and the studio sent out a special Christmas reminder this week via the Iron Man Facebook page. A new photo posted to the page features Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, standing in the snow and staring up at a “Happy Holidays” greeting. His arc reactor glows in the twilight as the snowflakes fall.

It’s unclear whether the photo is a still from the upcoming movie or simply a photoshopped teaser for fans. What is clear is that Iron Man 3 will kick off the summer 2013 movie season on May 3, complete with new director Shane Black and Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin.

  • Peter Parker Death Has Fans Divided

Peter Parker Death Has Fans Divided

Peter Parker, otherwise known as Spider-Man, dies in the latest issue of the long running comic series. It’s not too surprising either as both Marvel and DC have been killing off characters to only resurrect them in later reboots and retellings. The surprising part is how Peter Parker was killed, and that has some fans not too happy with Spider-Man scribe Dan Slott.

For those who don’t mind spoilers, Spider-Man No. 700 sees Peter Parker being defeated by Doctor Octopus. That wouldn’t be too surprising of an ending as Doctor Octopus is one of Spider-Man’s most well known and longest standing villains. What surprised fans is that Doctor Octopus realizes that Spider-Man was actually a force for good in the world and transfers his mind to Parker’s body to continue on as Spider-Man himself.

The death has proven to be somewhat controversial among fans of the character, and they have been voicing their displeasure to series writer Dan Slott on Twitter. Some fans have even taken to sending death threats to Slott, but others have stood up for the writer by sending him praise and well wishes.

All the complaints won’t stop Slott, however, as he is preparing to launch an entirely new Spider-Man series called The Superior Spider-Man. The series will take on a much darker tone, and could prove interesting to long time fans of the man that can do whatever a spider can.

  • The Amazing Spider-Man Debuts With Playable Stan Lee and Bruce Campbell

The video game tie-in for “The Amazing Spider-Man” movie has officially been released. The game is now available in North America for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, and Nintendo 3DS. It will become available in Europe on June 29.

“Dee Brown and his team at Beenox have completely revamped The Amazing Spider-Man‘s proprietary game engine to deliver a fresh, innovative gameplay experience for the fans,” said David Oxford, executive vice president and general manager of Activision. “With the adrenaline rush from just swinging through the city and the new zoomed-in camera angle opening up a whole new perspective in realistic detail, The Amazing Spider-Man allows gamers to be Spider-Man like never before.”

According to Activision, The Amazing Spider-Man will serve as an epilogue to the story in this summer’s upcoming movie staring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone.

The Amazing Spider-Man will feature villains such as Rhino, Black Cat, and Scorpion. Bruce Campbell, of “The Evil Dead” fame, voices a character in the game that provides Spider-Man with “extreme” challenges. Also, as previously reported, gamers who pre-ordered the game from Amazon will be able to play as comic creator Stan Lee, who has all the powers of Spider-Man. Check out the video below to see how a wall-climbing Stan Lee looks in the game:

Often, movie tie-in video games are of poor, rushed quality. The Wreck-It Ralph tie-in, for example, will be a side-scrolling adventure for Nintendo systems that visits locations from the movie. The Spider-Man games have been a bit of an exception recently, with their free-roaming, web-slinging gameplay and tight fighting mechanics. Hopefully, The Amazing Spider-Man can continue this trend and bring Spidey the video game a superhero deserves.

  • Celebrate Star Wars Day With Clone Trooper Mash Ups

I should say AWESOME clone trooper mash ups, because thanks to the sterling work of two Deviant Art aces, we have even more Star Wars content for you to celebrate with, even if you don’t need anymore. Not only do these mash up works capture the feel of the Star Wars universe, because they are mashed up with Marvel superheroes, they fit with the theatrical arrival of The Avengers.

As pointed out by Geek Alerts, these mash ups were penciled by Jon Bolerjack and inked by JJ Kirby, and well, their work is something your inner Star Wars/Marvel geek will absolutely love. That being said, it wouldn’t be surprising if some of the more hardcore Star Wars fans took issue with the use of Clone Troopers as opposed to Stormtroopers, but hey, you can’t please everyone.

Furthermore, trying to do so will result in something much less awesome:
