  • Couples Join in Holy Matrimony on an Iconic Day, 11/12/13

Today has been a very special day for countless couples around the country.

To many, 11/12/13 holds an exceptional significance to nearly 3,326 lovebirds that believe in the power of numerology. Since it is the second-to-last sequential number of the century, today was an ideal day to tie the knot.

New York couple, Elliot Bryant And Shanel Manzano, decided to present their day of holy matrimony to the entire world. On the Today show, the couple exchanged vows at exactly 9:10 a.m., keeping the number pattern consistent as possible.

The bride explained how nine means long life and 11, 12, 13 adds up to this perfect number.

“We both like incremental numbers and fluidity,” she said.

Wedding experts have concluded that because weddings are very special moments for people, anything that would make it even more monumental are usually of importance.

David’s Bridal chief marketing officer, Brian Beitler, reported to the Huffington Post, “Anything that helps to make that more significant is important to them. Whether it’s wearing a mother’s wedding dress or jewelry, brides always look for something to help mark this momentous occasion, and sequential numbers can be a very important reason to do that.”

For other couples, 11/12/13 was by chance and not so much because of its numerical uniqueness.

Charlie Dissell and Brandi Smith of Ankeny, Iowa were planning their wedding day in Jamaica and the trip just so happen to fall on today’s date.

According to DesMoinesregister.com, some do it as something unforgettable and easy to remember while others as a way to convey a message.

Whatever the case may be, dates that hold consecutive and sequential numbers have been very influential in helping couples choose their wedding day.

This is not the first time where ceremonial wedding dates based upon consecutive numbers have hit an all time high. Last year on 12/12/12, more than 75,000 couples decided to walk down the aisle. Then of course, there have previously been other dates alike such as 9/10/11 and 10/11/12.

Next year, 12/13/14 will fall on a Saturday, becoming the last sequential date to grace this century.

  • Paula Deen Not Splitting From Her Husband

Paula Deen has made her way back to the news again. This time, it’s the celebrity’s chef’s ‘on-and-off marriage’ that’s making negative headlines. News has been buzzing about her husband being a cheater. It all started earlier this week with one particular news release.

The November 18th edition of the National Enquirer reported that Deen’s husband, Michael Groover, had a mistress, who was described as a ‘sexy, middle-aged brunette.’ The tabloid stated that she is actually a close family acquaintance that the two have known for years. The Enquirer also reported that Groover was kicked out by Deen after being confronted about the alleged affair. Although the details of the story were quite lucid, they have been refuted.

    (image)

According to US Weekly, a source close to Deen denied all of the claims. “This story is absolutely not true. They have never been closer. Michael adores her and Paula adores him. They are completely fine.”

So, it seems there actually isn’t trouble in paradise. However, this isn’t the first rumor of separation reported by The Enquirer. In July 2013, the tabloid reported that the couple was headed for Splitsville, facing the possibility of a $17 million divorce. This claim was also refuted, as neither Deen or Groover made any steps toward filing for divorce.

The 66-year-old cook has had other things to look forward to this week. Ironically her next public event is actually centered around family. Deen took to Twitter earlier this week to announce her upcoming book signing day which will take place at Uncle Bubba’s Oyster House in Savannah, GA. She and her family will be in attendance for the event.

  • Kaley Cuoco Marries Fiance On Ellen Degeneres Show

Kaley Cuoco appeared on Ellen DeGeneres’ daytime talk show to talk about her engagement to fiancé, Ryan Sweeting. Little did she know that DeGeneres had already planned her wedding, and was ready to perform the ceremony right then and there.

Cuoco was talking about her engagement when DeGeneres pulled out a veil, flowers, and even an ordained minister. “We have this ready. Should you choose — we can do it,” DeGeneres said. “It will save you so much money. You can dance afterward.”

“The Big Bang Theory” star put the veil on and said “I’m ready.” Sweeting, however, was not so sure about the whole deal. He questioned…“Is this legal?” After some reassurance, Sweeting played along with the impromptu wedding. DeGeneres had one of her writers, who was recently ordained, perform the ceremony, and also loaned her very own wedding rings for the couple to use.

Sweeting proposed to Cuoco back in September, only three months after they started dating. In all seriousness, Cuoco says they are in no hurry to get married. She wants a long engagement and says she is to busy to plan a wedding right now. “We are too busy to wedding plan,” she said. “In a year we will start talking about it. We are enjoying being engaged.”

Sweeting tweeted, “Officially tied the not with my love,” and then had to take back the “officially” in a different tweet to clear things up.

DeGeneres only had one catch to her kindness…they have to name their first born Ellen.

  • Kaley Cuoco Gets Married On Ellen’s Show [Video]

Kaley Cuoco and her sweetheart Ryan Sweeting were recently “wed” on Ellen Degeneres’ talk show. The couple had a mock ceremony on the show, but are they really married now?

Ellen had the grand idea to bring her Cuoco’s boyfriend out on stage during her interview, and made a spectacle of the couple on national television. She gave away the bride, and her head writer, who had recently become ordained, married the couple.

Cuoco is known to audiences as the female star on The Big Bang Theory, the show that stars Jim Parsons as the nerdy Sheldon Cooper. The young actress got her start on 8 Simple Rules, playing John Ritter’s daughter.

The actress opened up about her recent love life, saying that she had sworn off love and did everything she could to not meet him. Their whole relationship happened very fast and she said of the beginning, “By day two I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ It was so unbelievable. I said, ‘This is it, this is it.’ ”

The wedding ceremony happened in less than a minute on the show, and included Cuoco wearing a veil and a tennis-ball necklace, along with a dress, except not the typical wedding kind of dress. She also laughs wildly during the clip when her boyfriend asks about whether the ceremony is actually legal. Before the wedding happened, Kaley Cuoco had just finished telling Ellen another surprise, regarding the idea that she had even fallen in love with Sweeting in the first place, after previously swearing to give up on love.

She says that a mutual friend actually introduced the couple, and there is no doubt that she is happy her friend forced her to go for it after describing her current emotions when saying “So happy. Life is so good right now. I cannot even tell you.”

Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting have been engaged since the tennis pro popped the question in September.

  • Tony Parker Will Be The Father To A Baby Boy

Tony Parker and his fiancee Axelle Francine have just announced that they have a baby boy on the way. This will be the first child that the couple have together. Tony Parker has been dating Francine, a French journalist, since 2011.

Before he started dating Francine, Parker was married to actress Eva Longoria, which got both of them much recognition, and media coverage. Parker, and Longoria, the former Desperate Housewives star, split up in 2010 after a public sexting scandal between Parker and Erin Barry, the wife of his former teammate Brent Barry.

Like Francine, Parker is also a native of France. He is a basketball all-star who has been playing in the NBA for 12 years, and has enjoyed much success, including multiple NBA titles with the San Antonio Spurs throughout his career. Parker led his teams to the NBA finals as recently as last year, where they lost to the Miami Heat in a fierce fight that went to game 7.

Tony Parker released the news about his baby over twitter, through his incredible excitement to be a dad for the first time. He announced that he was very happy, and then immediately told everyone why. Parker seems to be excited about the fact that he is a boy too; could we see his son in the NBA someday?

He introduced his followers to the big news on Thursday, October 31. He seems to enjoy releasing big news on twitter, since he also nonchalantly announced that he was engaged to Francine over twitter as well.

He told his followers that he likes to spend time with his fiancee after games, when asked during a Q&A, as a brand ambassador for Tissot, a Swiss watch company. The news of their engagement was revealed in June.

Tony Parker and his fiancee Axelle Francine are both 31-years-old, and are excited about having their first child together.

  • Christina Ricci Marries Her Longtime Boyfriend

Christina Ricci, an actress who jumped into the spotlight as some tend to do at an early age, has just wed her longtime boyfriend, James Heerdegen.

A representative of Ricci’s revealed the couple’s engagement in February after rumors had started to swirl around months before that.

She tied the knot with her fiance Heerdegen on Saturday, saying “I do” to one another on the Upper East Side in New York City.

The newlyweds were joined by close family friends in an intimate ceremony, choosing to not overdo the process as some celebrities like to do. NBC News mentions that following the ceremony, their guests were able to enjoy a cocktail hour, dinner, dessert, and dancing.

Ricci has appeared in several films and television shows throughout her career, beginning in 1990 with the film Mermaids. Her childhood career went on to include two Addams Family films and Casper. Since then, she has been several films of almost every genre, including Monster, and The Opposite of Sex, which she received a Golden Globe nomination for.

Christina Ricci recently starred in the short-lived series Pan-Am, when she met her husband in 2011. The series aired on ABC, and Heerdegen was a dolly grip on the show. While it is a term that is not thrown around too much in Hollywood, a dolly grip operator is a dedicated technician who is trained to operate the camera dolly. He has previously worked on more than 40 film and television productions, including Baby Mama and Nurse Jackie.

In 2012, Us Weekly revealed that Christina Ricci had a new man in her life, and introduced everyone to her new man, and talked about how the couple went to a fancy spa in Puerto Rico to celebrate their new romance.

In May, the 33-year-old actress revealed her big plans for the wedding including the dress she planned to wear, the caterer, and more. She also went into detail about the type of ceremony she wanted, revealing her idea of a smaller ceremony when saying “I’m excited to be with all my friends and family, and just have a lovely night.”

Christina Ricci is very excited about being a newlywed, and has also said that she wants to have children someday with her new husband. She is clearly excited about their new life that they will have together, and in the interview with US Weekly, she also said “He’s my favorite person on Earth.”

  • Danielle Fishel Fires Back At Haters Over Twitter

Danielle Fishel married her longtime boyfriend Tim Belusko in Los Angeles over the weekend. If Fishel’s name is not ringing a bell right away, then perhaps you will recognize her as the iconic role of Topange Lawrence that the actress played in Boy Meets World from 1993 to 2000. On the day of her wedding, Fishel was criticized not only for her weight, but also the fact that she married a man younger than her.

She met her husband Belusko when she returned to college, and became his math tutor. We all know the classic “don’t date your tutor” thing, but in this case, it seemed to work successfully, leading to a marriage. However, critics of her and the situation seem to have a problem with it. Fishel is 32-years-old, while her husband is only 25.

In response to all the hate that Fishel has faced since her wedding day, she has taken to twitter to address the issues. First, she was attacked for marrying a younger man, and then her weight, which has always been a sensitive issue for her.

After she gained weight throughout the series of Boy Meets World, she eventually struck up a balanced diet and was able to embrace a healthy lifestyle. She was very proud of herself, telling People Magazine, “I’ve learned to be comfortable in my own skin.”

Whether she was comfortable in her own skin at the time or not, she was certainly a big crush for anyone who watched her hit show throughout the 1990s. Her new confidence also crept into her twitter rant, when she told people to stop judging others by their weight and looks. It is a special time we are living in now, when an actress can be attacked for such stupid reasons, and is able to defend herself over a social media platform.

Fishel has previously mentioned having an eating disorder while she was a teenager and starring on Boy Meets World, feeling like she was afraid to eat at times.

Recently, Danielle Fishel also reunited with her former co-stars Rider Strong and Ben Savage. The three of them were featured having a discussion about who said certain quotes and joking around like no time had passed between them.

The whole cast of Boy Meets World including Mr. Feeny and the whole gang were all reunited for a segment on Good Morning America. A new series is also in the works, titled Girl Meets World, which will air on Disney in 2014. The reunion pictures were shared all over social media outlets, and it is very exciting to see for any fans of the show, who will always love Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence, no matter how much time passes.

Danielle Fishel is brave for standing up for herself, and this should set an example for women everywhere who get put down for their looks. It is good to see that a social media outlet like twitter can be of such use to someone like her in this way.

  • Danielle Fishel from “Boy Meets World” Gets Married

Boy Meets World fans who were hoping that somehow Cory and Topanga would end up together in real life are in for a bit of a disappointment. Former Boy Meets World star Danielle Fishel tied the knot over the weekend, but not to Ben Savage. Not to worry, though–Cory and Topanga will be onscreen again soon enough in Disney’s spinoff, Girl Meets World.

The 32-year-old who last played Topanga Lawrence more than a decade ago (yes, it has really been that long) married her love of five years, Tim Belusko, in Los Angeles on Saturday. Two hundred guests were in attendance at the wedding at former cathedral Vibiana in L.A. According to E!, Lawrence’s former onscreen love interest, Savage, was there for the nuptials.

Fishel met her new husband, who is a few years younger than her, when she went back to college at age 27. “I did so well in math, I even became a tutor. And that is how I met my fiancé,” she posted to her Tumblr page when she announced her engagement back in December.

Rider Strong, who played Shawn Hunter on Boy Meets World, wasn’t at Danielle Fishel’s wedding yesterday, but he had a pretty good reason. He got married yesterday, too. “Bad news…so I’m missing some of my Boy Meets World family (that was my fault, [Danielle] chose the date first),” Strong joked in a statement to ABC.

Danielle Fishel, Ben Savage and William Daniels (Mr. Feeny) are a few of the Boy Meets World alum who have signed on for the spinoff Girl Meets World. The new show hits Disney in 2014.

Are you looking forward to Girl Meets World? Respond below. And for now, enjoy Eric Matthews’ (Will Friedle) Feeny call. Even though Friedle hasn’t been confirmed to join the cast of Girl Meets World, the Feeny call never gets old. Never.

  • Kristen Bell: Beautiful Blonde Gets Married, More Babies Next?

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard finally got married for good!

After 6 years of passionate dating and a baby to show for it, the couple tied the knot after exchanging vows at a small private ceremony in the Beverly Hills City Clerk’s Office.

Kristen, 33, has a child, the infant daughter Lincoln Bell Shepard, with Dax Shepard, 38. Bell was apparently in tears at the special moment.

As late as three weeks ago, Kristen hadn’t set the date with Dax,

“I have to unfortunately report that we just haven’t gotten it together on a Saturday to get to the courthouse,” the House of Lies star said. “But we have every intention to. We have every intention to. We wanna sign those papers. And I think we just found out that you can do it online now. What if we got married online? Print it out: ‘You guys, married! Married, everybody!’ It’s just out of laziness that we haven’t actually done it yet.”

Bell is not into big weddings either,

“We’re not having a wedding…It’s not a desire of either of ours to have any sort of day of celebration for us. I feel like we get enough attention in our daily lives and we just want something sort of private that involves pen and paper.”

So don’t expect any dazzling wedding celebrations with a mile long parade of celebrities, and an Eiffel Tower high wedding cake, anytime soon. But the sweet blonde does like her coffee even better. At least that’s what she claims on twitter:

Kristen also has some wonderful habits. She is a saver, not a splurger, and is always on the lookout for a great deal, and more responsible than car nut Dax.

So is the youthful blonde ready for more babies in the near future. The fans would surely welcome many more little Bells, but lets hear from the fertile blonde herself, the last time around she was pregnant:

“Its been great…It has (pregnancy experience) been really good,” said Kristen in January 2013, as she was attending the Sundance Film Festival at Park City, Utah. So now that we know how much the beautiful blonde enjoys being pregnant, lets wish her many more beautiful babies and a wonderful fun filled future.

  • Greg Louganis Marries Johnny Chaillot In Malibu

Greg Louganis, who is an olympic diver, married Johnny Chaillot in a ceremony that took place in Malibu, California. Louganis rose to fame after winning gold medals at the 1984 and 1988 Olympic games, for both the springboard and the platform. He is also the only male and second diver in Olympic history to sweep the diving events in consecutive Olympic games.

Louganis has been openly gay throughout his career, and his now finally able to be married at the age of 53. His partner, now husband, is 52. The couple wed on Saturday, October 12. Louganis, the famous Olympian has married Chaillot, who is a paralegal. He tested positive for HIV in 1988 and later came out publicly as gay during a performance on the Oprah Winfrey Show in 1995, according to US Weekly.

The couple had dated for less than a year, before deciding to take the next step in their relationship. They began dating in 2012 after a chance meeting on the website that we have all come to know from their commercials, match.com.

Greg Louganis and his partner became engaged almost exactly a year later on April 8th. Louganis said in an interview on Thursday, “It has been an incredible journey.”

The ceremony was fairly small in comparison with some weddings, entertaining about 160 guests during the party. They each wore European-cut white suits, and were accompanied by Chaillots four sisters and Louganis’ diving coach Ron O’Brien. Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed live music provided by their friends, including a recent contestant on The Voice, Dominic Scott Kay.

With the hopes of making a difference, they are also shaking up the traditional wedding registry, and asking for donations to charities instead. The couple talked about the decision, saying in an interview that they are both in their fifties and do not need a blender or other typical items that are picked out for wedding gifts. It just made sense for them to donate the money that would have gone towards gifts toward charities instead.

After years of being a closeted homosexual, Olympic diver Greg Louganis is finally able to be open about his love life and will now be able to enjoy a happy life with his husband. He mentioned that growing up he always heard about soul mates and never believed in any of that until now, saying “I’m having second thoughts about that.”

  • Marital Satisfaction Linked to Gene in New Study

As humans we would like to think that we’re in control of our emotions. That disagreements with loved ones are settled completely on our terms. It turns out, however, that we may be heavily influenced by genetics when it comes to how much stock we put in the emotional world.

A new study, published this week in the journal Emotion, has found a link between a gene in humans and how we deal with emotions in relationships. The study followed over 100 married people, observing their marital interactions over the course of years. Those with shorter versions of specific gene alleles were more likely to describe themselves as unhappy or happy during times of trouble or joy in their relationships. Those with longer versions of the gene were not as affected by emotional changes in their marriages.

“An enduring mystery is, what makes one spouse so attuned to the emotional climate in a marriage, and another so oblivious?” said Robert Levenson, co-author of the study and a psychologist at the University of California at Berkeley. “With these new genetic findings, we now understand much more about what determines just how important emotions are for different people.”

The gene, named 5-HTTLPR, is involved in the regulation of serotonin, a neurotransmitter involved in feelings of well-being. Levenson and his colleagues believe this could contribute to strong feelings for those with short versions of the gene, meaning those people would feel better than most when in a positive marriage – but feel worse than others when things turn sour.

“Individuals with two short alleles of the gene variant may be like hothouse flowers, blossoming in a marriage when the emotional climate is good and withering when it is bad,” said Claudia Haase, lead author of the study and an assistant professor of human development and social policy at Northwestern University. “Conversely, people with one or two long alleles are less sensitive to the emotional climate.”

  • Gigi Yallouz Marries Owain Yeoman

    Gigi Yallouz Marries Owain Yeoman

Owain Yeoman has made a name for himself for his role on The Mentalist. Now, he is getting recognized for a more personally significant reason. He recently married his beautiful, jewelry-designer girlfriend Gigi Yallouz at their home in Malibu, California.

The old saying is that “life imitates art” but in this case it looks like that old adage should be changed to “art imitates life” as Owain will find himself as the groom in another wedding on October 13th. His character from The Mentalist, Wayne Rigsby, is expected to marry his own special bride and colleague Grace Van Pelt who is played by the actress, Amanda Righetti. Hope that Gigi Yallouz is not the jealous type, and with her own uniquely-talented career there is no reason she should be.

Thirty-five-year-old Yeoman recently spoke about participating in two weddings within two weeks of each other as the groom no less.

“There I was with Gigi on one side and Amanda on the other,” Yeoman said.

Owain Yeoman seemed happy to leave his bachelor days behind him in real life. In a recent interview with People magazine, Owain Yeoman sounded overjoyed to have wed Gigi Yallouz who he referred to as his soulmate.

“Gigi is my perfect partner. She’s my best friend. She’s the most fun of anyone I know and she’s also the kindest and most tolerant person. I work in a business of extremes, so when you are with someone who is very calm and logical, it’s a great kind of balance to have. She really is my soulmate,” Owain Yeoman said.

Owain Yeoman took to his Twitter page to announce how much attention his marriage is already receiving.

  • Kris Jenner Talks About Khloe’s “Game Face”

Kris Jenner Talks About Khloe’s “Game Face”

Kris Jenner, who famously bills herself as mom, manager, and momager recently spoke about the strength of her daughter, Khloe Kardashian-Odom. The 57-year-old star of the television show Keeping Up With the Kardashians has been quick to defend Khloe against growing rumors of a potential divorce.

While her 29-year-old daughter is a world-famous television personality by herself, Kris was quick to offer motherly support in defense of Khloe’s public persona as the wife to NBA star Lamar Odom. During a recent interview with E! News, Kris Jenner shared her motherly pride about the way Khloe has handled herself.

“She’s very sensitive and she loves really hard and she feels with all of her soul. But she also has the ability to put that game face on and go out there in the world and do what she needs to do,” Kris Jenner said.

There is no official word about the status of Khloe and Lamar’s marriage as the family has thus far remained surprisingly private regarding that personal issue. However, Khloe has been vocal on her Twitter offering reflective messages of support. Her encouraging messages have shared the underlying theme to promote having a strength of character as shown from the following tweets below.

The following video from the Kris Jenner Show aired earlier this year and shows Kris and Khloe playing the “I Never” Drinking Game with the Golden Sisters (Teresa, Mary, and Josie) where Khloe mentions her “love bites” that Lamar gives her “all the time” before adding that she “loves them”.

  • Jennifer Aniston’s Brother Will Be Best Man

Jennifer Aniston has long been one of the most talked about celebrities in Hollywood, so when news of her engagement to boyfriend Justin Theroux broke last year, we were all ears.

But Aniston didn’t have a lot to say about the upcoming wedding at the time. She told The Associated Press that she and Theroux wanted to wait until the time was right: “We just want to do it when it’s perfect, and we’re not rushed, and no one is rushing from a job or rushing to a job.”

At the time, the couple’s lack of definite wedding plans and appearances in public together had led to a flurry of break up rumors, which Aniston addressed: “There have been no canceled weddings. There have been no postponed weddings. There have been no arguments about where to get married. Just clearing that all up.”

The most recent wedding news involves reports on the couple’s choice of best man, and it looks like the honor will go to Aniston’s brother Alex, also known as AJ. A “family insider” has revealed that besides having AJ as best man, the couple wants a small, low-key wedding, something quite the opposite of the extravagant ceremony Aniston had when she married Brad Pitt back in 2000.

AJ is the son of Aniston’s father, actor John Aniston and his second wife actress Sherry Rooney. AJ prefers to stay out of the spotlight and lives a nomadic lifestyle, often traveling between Los Angeles and Alaska. The siblings appear to possess a mutual desire to say as little as possible about each other.

Until paparazzi spotted him recently at the Burning Man Festival in Nevada, AJ hadn’t been seen publicly since appearing at the Hollywood premiere of Along Came Polly back in 2004.

  • Eva Longoria Says No More Marriages, No Kids

While most people see a third time in anything to be a charm, actress Eva Longoria views things from a totally different perspective. After two failed marriages, Longoria has decided to call it quits, declaring that she will not be getting married a third time. She even went a step further and stated that she has no plans to have children, as she won’t be raising any alone.

Yesterday, Longoria appeared on Access Hollywood Live. She dished on exactly why she has no intentions to ever walk down the isle again. “I’ve been married twice,” admitted Longoria, who divorced actor Tyler Christopher in 2004, and NBA star Tony Parker in 2011. “Been there, done that!” exclaimed Longoria.

Eva Longoria and Ex-Husband, Tony Parker, 2008.

The two-time SAG award winner also touched on her sentiments toward motherhood. Unlike fellow actresses Katherine Heigl and Sandra Bullock who considered and executed the decision to adopt children, Longoria has no intention to venturing into motherhood at all. Procreation as well as adoption are two options that are out of the window for her.

However, she did lean toward a slight glint of hope as she hasn’t totally given up on love. “I’m not one of those women who are like, ‘I must procreate!’ I think kids are a product of love,” she continued. “So, if you find the right person and you want to have a family with that person, then that’s when the time is right. But…if I’m 50 and single, I’m not going to go do it myself.” 50 is a little more than a decade away so we can only be optimistic that Longoria’s decision on marriage and family can be gracefully overturned.

When asked of her feelings on aging, she confidently spoke of embracing the years to come, as she isn’t afraid to grow older. “I love aging, as far as getting wiser. I have no desire to be 25 again. Maybe I want my 25-year-old body, but I don’t want my 25-year-old mind!”

The irony in Longoria’s reality is rather paradoxical to her lifestyles on camera. Longoria is widely known for her stand-out role as a wife on the popular Lifetime television drama, “Desperate Housewives.” Not to mention that her latest animated TV series, “Mother Up!” features her in the voice role of a mother who transitions from the entity of a high-end Manhattan music executive to that of a carpooling suburban ‘soccer mom. “Mother Up” is currently filming and schedules to hit television airwaves late this fall.

  • Vince Gill VS. Westboro Baptist Church Protesters

Vince Gill, the famous country singer, decided to take a stand against a group of protesters recently, outside of the performance center in which he was performing. Normally this may not have been a big deal, but of course in this case, the protesters were from the Westboro Baptist Church. This is the group known for picketing the funerals of soldiers and also being very anti-gay people. The confrontation took place in Kansas City at the Kauffman Center’s Muriel Kauffman Theatre.

Apparently, the reason that Vince Gill got the attention of the Westboro Baptist church, is due to having a divorce and then getting married again two years later. The Westboro Baptist Church frowns heavily on divorce, because of what it says in the bible. He was once married to country singer Janis Oliver of the group Sweethearts of The Rodeo and after their divorce in 1998, he was married to singer Amy Grant in 2000, according to The Huffington Post. Grant was also married to Gary Chapman before Gill, a Christian musician. Seems a bit late to be protesting now after 13 years, doesn’t it? He told one of them the reason that he decided to come out there and confront them was because he wanted to see what hatred really looked like in the face.

It is impressive to see someone with celebrity status finally standing up to this group filled with hate. Everyone needs to know about them and harm that they continue to cause for people. Then again, the publicity often is what helps this group and maybe it would have been better if he would have simply stayed inside. Gill was fired up over the comments that had been said and felt that he needed to intervene, causing a scene, which is what the group tends to want much of the time. All of the publicity simply helps them and they even took to twitter to celebrate. What is it going to take to get rid of this sick group of people?

The Westboro Baptist Church likes to get all the publicity that they can, but is not used to being confronted by celebrities in this way. Gill’s appearance did seem to surprise the group of protesters at first, although they quickly started to ask him numerous questions about his marital history, states the Kansas City Star. Gill’s fans and others are certainly proud of him for what he did, but with the way this group works, it is hard to know if he really did the right thing. In the end, if he had stayed inside. it is possible that there would be no story and the Westboro Baptist Church would not have received any attention.

Meet the ‘Marriage Saver,’ Samsung’s Fanciest TV

First only offered by LG Electronics, Samsung’s latest and greatest device is an OLED television. For those who may not know just what OLED is in comparison to an LED, LCD or a plasma screen, it stands for Organic Light-Emitting Diode, and it features an amazing MultiView that permits a roomful of people to watch two different shows or movies on the same screen.

It’s quite simple: you sit down on the side of the screen your show is playing on, put on your 3-D glasses and be sure to plug in your headphones. Samsung Electronics America’s vice president, David Das, has said that people at the company have taken to calling it ‘the marriage saver’ because “my wife and I can be sitting on the couch watching two different programs on the same OLED TV.”

Wired gives us some juicy details: first off, OLED is brighter, thinner, and more energy-efficient than any other television picture on the market right now. Tim Moynihan goes crazy with adjectives to describe it: “Like plasma sets, OLEDs have deeper blacks, more pronounced contrast, smoother on-screen motion, and wider viewing angles — but even deeper, punchier, smoother, and wider.”

Here’s the pricetag: an OLED television will set you back $9000, or $7 per square inch of TV. Moynihan notes that number is four times the cost of a 55-inch diagonal Samsung screen, but the technology is so new that the release of an OLED television at less than $10,000 is considered an industry breakthrough. By comparison, an LG Electronics OLED screen is about $15,000.

USA Today reports Ken Park, a DisplaySearch analyst, as saying that less than 20,000 OLED screens will be shipped in 2013, but that number is expected to grow. And why not? Jim Willcox, a senior electronics editor for Consumer Reports, was quoted as saying that the image quality is higher than any comparable plasma TV, and “you get an unparalleled contrast range that makes images pop off the screen.”

  • Guy Hacks Contra to Propose to His Girlfriend

On the list of NES games I played the absolute hell out of when I was a kid, the run-and-shoot classic Contra is pretty high up there. And if you’re like me, this should make you feel all warm and fuzzy.

Some guy (redditor Equinn0xX) recently hacked Contra and used it to propose to his girlfriend. “I hacked Contra because she’s worth it,” he says. Aww.

“This is how I did it. In short, I bought Contra, dumped the ROM, hex edited the file, flashed it to a new ROM chip and soldered it all back together. Took some work but worth it. I changed player names to ours and also changed the ending text to ask her once she beat the game. She said yes! And to the purists who cringe when they see a hacked up cart…relax, it was for a good cause!” he says.

The game played normally – apart from the change in player names. The only real difference was the ending screen that displayed once his girlfriend beat the game:

    Hats off, man.

  • A ‘Pawn Star’ Wedding: Rick Harrison & Deanna Burditt

The lead negotiator from Las Vegas’ legendary Gold and Silver Pawn Shop, Rick Harrison, was joined in matrimony with his girlfriend, Deanna Burditt, last Sunday night. In a ceremony at Laguna Beach before 180 attendees, marital traditions were slightly shaken as co-star Chumlee served as ringbearer while the officiator of the wedding was Harrison’s co-star on the History Channel series Counting Cars, Danny Koker. Twitter was abuzz with images and well-wishes for the now husband-and-wife…

Along with the typical and expected humorous blather:

Following the party, all guests were entertained by the band Steel Panther and were treated to their own souvenir newlywed bobbleheads of Rick and Deanna.

  • Zach Braff Helps Guy Propose, Removes All Chance of Her Saying No

Another day, another jerk making us all look bad by staging an elaborate marriage proposal and then putting the whole thing on YouTube.

But seriously, this one’s pretty cool. It involves Zach Braff, some pets, some friends, some family, and a song. Cute.

“I wanted to think of a really cool way to propose to my girlfriend, Janice, and this song and video is what I came up with. I wanted to show her that not only do I love her but that she’s loved by all our friends and family too. This was particularly important as she hasn’t been able to see much of her family for 7 years since she moved to the UK and she misses them lots,” says Matt Hulbert.

It looks like Hulbert roped Braff into helping him via Kickstarter pledge:

“I managed to get Zach involved through Kickstarter when pledging an amount for his new film ‘Wish I Was Here.’ The team were SO kind and SO amazing they got his part of the video to me super early as they really liked the idea. Like me, Janice is a huge fans of ‘Scrubs’ so I knew it would blow her away,” says Hulbert.

I guess that’s one way to propose – make it absolutely impossible for the girl to say no.
