  • Donny Osmond Going Under the Knife, in Good Hands With Adele, Sam Smith Doctor

Donny Osmond has a bleeding lesion on his right vocal cord and will be having surgery to repair it. After a reasonable respite following the surgery, his voice will be good as new. The male half of the Donny & Marie singing duo–he and sister Marie Osmond are presently performing in Las Vegas–knows he’s in good hands because his surgeon has recently operated on other big names in the music world.

Dr. Steven M. Zeitel of Harvard Medical School is doing Donny Osmond’s surgery. He is the doctor who restored Adele back to fine singing order and recently operated on Sam Smith, too.

While this isn’t a life-threatening surgery, it is very serious, because for singers like Adele, Sam Smith, and Donny Osmond, it could be career ending if not done properly.

Given Dr. Zeitel’s previous successes, he was the obvious choice for Donny Osmond’s surgery.

Fans of Donny & Marie will be disappointed if they have tickets for the brother and sister act’s September shows. Shows for that month have been cancelled. However by October it is expected that Donny Osmond will be back in business and singing with his sister again.

Do you think singers like Donny Osmond, Adele, and Sam Smith are severely overworked? It’s only in recent years that bleeding on the vocal cords in popular singers has been prevalent in the news. Should some of these singers slow down a bit? Even if they don’t make quite as much money, perhaps they will enjoy better health, and not subject themselves to this serious vocal cord injury that is only corrected through surgery.

  • Marie Osmond Announces ‘Donny and Marie’ World Tour

Marie Osmond stopped by the Today show on Friday to announce that she and brother Donny are re-teaming for a world-wide tour next year.

The “little bit country” singer also revealed that she and her “little bit rock’n roll” brother, Donny Osmond — whose Emmy-nominated 1970s television show was a world-wide phenomenon — will be heading out on a world tour while their good friend, Olivia Newton-John, takes their place in Las Vegas.

Osmond told Kathy Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb that after the success of their show in Las Vegas, they decided to take it on the road while their good friend, Olivia Newton-John, holds down the fort.

“She’s going to take half the time,” said Osmond, apparently referring to their Vegas show. “We’re going on a big world tour.”

Osmond said they plan to start off the tour in places like Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.

Osmond said it wasn’t that far-fetched that they would have fans in other countries.

“Do you know what’s crazy about it?” Osmond said. “The Donny and Marie Show was dubbed into 17 languages. It was everywhere and I had no idea. I had no idea because I was a 14-year-old kid.”

  • Marie Osmond Celebrates First Grandchild

Some Christmas gifts are absolutely priceless, and Marie Osmond can probably attest to such sentiments! On Thursday, Osmond happily declared to the world that she is officially a grandmother!

The 54-year-old singer took to Twitter to announce the newest addition to her family. According to E! Online, Osmond’s eldest son Stephen Craig, and his wife Claire Olds, welcomed a baby boy into the world. However, the bundle of joy does come as a bit of a surprise, as he decided to arrive just a little earlier than expected.

When Osmond appeared on Good Morning America back in October, she announced that the baby was actually due December 26. So, he’s definitely an early Christmas gift! However, that wasn’t her first time mentioning the expectation of the child.

Osmond has actually been gushing with excitement for months, expressing her high anticipation of becoming a grandmother.  The ‘Paper Roses’ singer actually revealed that the child was on the way back when she stopped by The Talk in June. She initially quipped that she was pregnant, but quickly refuted the claim jokingly. The mother of seven is definitely past her days of early motherhood, with new sights on enjoying her first grandchild.

“I am so excited I’m going to be a grandma,” the singer said. She went on to explain that her son announced the wonderful news during his birthday celebration earlier this year. “I just can’t wait. We went in for my son—for his birthday—he turned 30, which is amazing ’cause I’m 29. He blew out the candles and then blew me away and said, ‘You’re gonna be a grandma!’ It was really fun.”

Her representative also expressed her elation over the birth of the child, and becoming a grandmother. ” She, of course, is over the moon,” her representative told “OMG! Insider”.

Marie Osmond is currently on a Christmas tour with her brother, singer Donnie Osmond.
