  • Jamie-Lynn Sigler Explains Some of the Frustration of Multiple Sclerosis Diagnosis

    Jamie-Lynn Sigler of The Sopranos fame was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 15 years ago, but only went public with it following her wedding to Cutter Dykstra a week ago.

    She spoke with Maria Menounos in recent days about the autoimmune disease, explaining that it comes with a variety of frustrations.

    “For six years my symptoms in the disease for me have been stable,” Jamie-Lynn Sigler explains. “I actually went to my doctor about three months ago for a check-up, and he said, ‘You know, if you came in today I wouldn’t diagnose you with M.S.”

    Jamie-Lynn says that although most believe “that would be something really exciting to hear,” it actually “frustrated her.”

    “Because I still feel it and I still feel like things are wrong,” she says. “They’re not right…while that’s great news and encouraging for my doctor to say, I think a lot of people with M.S…you feel really misunderstood.”

    Multiple sclerosis is one of those illnesses that, during times of remission, patients are sometimes accused of “faking it.” It’s a disease that doesn’t often display easily recognizable symptoms.

    “You don’t want to complain all the time,” Jamie-Lynn Sigler continues, “and you don’t want to share all the things that you’re feeling. But the truth is, you’re never really comfortable in your body cause it’s not normal.”

    Kudos to Jamie-Lynn Sigler for sharing her M.S. diagnosis. By going public about it, and sharing issues like the one she described to Maria Menounos, she might raise further awareness about the illness. She also might help others with M.S. open up and talk about how the disease affects them.

    Some of the symptoms of multiple sclerosis include fatigue, numbness or tingling of the face or extremities, weakness, dizziness or vertigo, pain, emotional changes, bladder problems, walking difficulties and more.

    Paris Hilton and Ashley Benson are just two of many Hollywood celebrities mourning the untimely passing of makeup artist Jake Bailey. Bailey was discovered by his assistant on Friday, dead from what is believed to have been suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning. An official cause of death hasn’t been determined, and is pending completion of an autopsy.

    Paris Hilton, like many celebrities who knew and loved Jake Bailey, took to social media to share her grief.

    Ashley Benson just saw Jake Bailey a week ago. Like Paris Hilton, she shared an Instagram post of herself with the late makeup artist.

    “Honestly can’t believe this. Was just with you last week. My sweet angel. #rip @byjakebailey you’ll be terribly missed,” she captioned it.

  • Giuliana Rancic Replaced by Maria Menounos as Co-Anchor of ‘E! News’

    Giuliana Rancic recently announced she was stepping down as co-host of E! News, and on Thursday the network announced Maria Menounos will be her replacement.

    Some expected Rancic was stepping down because of comments made earlier in the year about Zendaya Coleman’s dreadlocks, but she says that’s definitely not the case.

    It was earlier in July that Giuliana Rancic shared word of her departure.

    “For more than a decade, I was fortunate enough to play a role in the success of E! News and will miss my family at the show,” she said on July 8. “At the same time, I am excited to not only continue as host of two major franchises on E! but also executive produce the aspirational new show Rich in Faith for Oxygen as well as take my wine and clothing lines to the next level. This is such a thrilling time for me and I thank the gang at E! for understanding my desire to embark on this next chapter in my life.”

    Giuliana Rancic added at the time that she would still be a presence on E! in her role on Fashion Police.

    As Maria Menounos prepares to co-host E! News, it seems Giuliana Rancic isn’t the only one leaving. E! correspondent Alicia Quarles has tendered her resignation, too.

    Earlier this week Rancic made news for her brand new hairstyle. In fact, she shared a photo of herself at the salon, contemplating on exactly what that new style might be.

    “Mirror, mirror on the wall. What will be my next hair change of them all? @colorbyyvonne @extbymissbrown @mechesalonla,” she captioned the Instagram post.

  • Maria Menounos Slammed For “Terrible” SAG Performance

    Maria Menounos has quite a bit of experience in the world of television hosting and interviewing, but that doesn’t mean she always wins viewers over. In fact, she garnered a whole lot of hate on Twitter Sunday night when she took over red carpet duties from Giuliana Rancic at the SAG Awards, giving what some are calling a “terrible” and cringe-worthy performance.

    Menounos has retweeted a few posts from fans (and even one noted non-fan) who lent her support after the backlash began, but other than that she hasn’t commented on the incident. According to several viewers, her interviewing skills were lacking and included awkward pauses and too many questions that felt rushed.

    One viewer said she was physically “cringing” while watching the red carpet events and several others pleaded with E! to keep Maria Menounos away from interviews.

    Maria Menounos took a beating on Twitter Sunday as she covered the arrival of A-list celebrities during E!’s Live From the Red Carpet coverage of the 2015 SAG Awards.

    The throng of haters included fans of Giuliana Rancic, who begged for the return of their fav red carpet commentator, unaware that she was still on vacation.

    Maria Menounos, who recently made a move from hosting Extra to E!, where she will have her own series, Untold with Maria Menounos. She also will be a regular commentator for red carpet events, retain a permanent position on their roundtable series Live From E! and participate in upcoming E! specials.

    Unfortunately, it looks like viewers aren’t all that thrilled with E!‘s decision to hire Maria Menounos.

    As for Giuliana Rancic, she tweeted on Sunday that she was running errands, which led to the onslaught of hate-tweets targeting Maria Menounos.

    Giuliana Rancic later thanked her fans for clamoring for her during the telecast.

  • Maria Menounos Attacked While Riding In Her SUV

    As her vehicle was pulling out JFK Airport in New York, Maria Menounos and her entourage were reportedly attacked on the morning of Thursday, October 16. A tire wrench was thrown into her SUV while Menounos and her group were trying to get onto the Van Wyck Expressway, and the object shattered her right rear window.

    “It really felt like something out of a movie. I heard an explosion and I started screaming, ‘Everyone down, we’re being shot at. Everyone down!” she told E! News. Menounos added that she believed that someone had been trying to rob them but probably stopped when they saw a police car close by. “We didn’t know if we were being targeted,” said Menounos.

    Although Menounos was unhurt by the incident, she was obviously shaken by it, expressing her incredulity on Instagram and Twitter right after it happened. “Omg this just happened. Huge explosion thought we got shot… now we think someone approached the car in traffic and blew out our window. This is what they used!!! This is so crazy!!! We are all freaked out,” she wrote on a photo she posted on Instagram of her holding the tire wrench.

    Menounos’ makeup artist was covered with glass when the rear window was broken by the assailant, who escaped without being seen. She tweeted, “Crazy morning….@iachilleas ended up with glass shattered all over him.someone threw a tire wrench.” Menounos also shared on Twitter a comment by the driver of her vehicle, who said that he’d never seen an incident like that happen during his 10 years as a driver, “even driving [Snoop Dogg]!”

    The incident didn’t seem to rattle Menounos too much as she was still able to attend an Ocean Spray event at Rockefeller Center on the same day. People took the opportunity to ask Menounos about pregnancy rumors. “I think it’s funny. It’s new to me. It’s never happened. But you know, people are always curious, and I’m definitely getting to that age where everyone’s wondering,” she said.

  • Maria Menounos’ Car Attacked By Tire Iron Thrown Into the Car

    Maria Menounos had a scary moment on Wednesday as she was leaving New York’s JFK airport in a car.

    The Untold with Maria Menounos host was leaving the airport in the vehicle and was about to merge onto a highway, when she suddenly heard what sounded like a large explosion.

    “We were merging onto the expressway and all of a sudden we heard an explosion. I thought we were being shot at so I told everyone, ‘We’re being shot at! Put your heads down!’ And everyone put their heads down,” she told Us Weekly. “We waited a second and we didn’t hear another shot, so I lifted my head up and turned around, and the whole back window was shattered and gone, not even a stitch of glass was left.”

    Menounos told the magazine that someone had thrown a tire iron through the rear window.

    Menounos, who was sitting in the front seat, was apparently unharmed — just frightened.

    “We see this huge tire iron in the back, so either someone ran back and smashed the back of the window and ran and nobody saw (them), or someone was in close proximity and threw it through the back window. Either way, my makeup artist was in the back seat covered in glass,” she said.

    Luckily, no one was hurt in the incident.

    Menounos later documented the attack on Instagram, saying that the group in her car was “freaked out.”

  • Maria Menounos Survives Tire Iron Attack

    Maria Menounos was scared to death, but unharmed, when her car was attacked by a person wielding a tire iron a few days ago. The Extra host was leaving New York’s JFK Airport when she heard a loud noise she first believed was gunfire.

    “We were merging onto the expressway and all of a sudden we heard an explosion. I thought we were being shot at so I told everyone, ‘We’re being shot at! Put your heads down!’ And everyone put their heads down,” she said. “We waited a second and we didn’t hear another shot, so I lifted my head up and turned around, and the whole back window was shattered and gone, not even a stitch of glass was left.”

    That’s when she realized a tire iron had been thrown through the back window of the car.

    Maria Menounos was riding in the front seat of the car, however her makeup artist was in the back seat.

    “So either someone ran back and smashed the back of the window and ran and nobody saw (them), or someone was in close proximity and threw it through the back window. Either way, my makeup artist was in the back seat covered in glass,” she added.

    Maria shared the ‘after shot’ of the tire iron attack via Instagram.

    This was definitely a very frightening incident for Maria Menounos and her makeup artist. It will be interesting to learn if the incident is still under investigation and if so, whether the perpetrator knew specifically that Menounos was in the car.

  • Tracy Morgan, Two Members of Tour Still Critical

    Tracy Morgan and two members of his entourage remain in critical condition as of Sunday morning, according to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital spokeswoman Zenaida Mendez. He and his friends and fellow comedians had left a show in Delaware when their tour limo was hit by a tractor trailer. James McNair–longtime friend and comedian who went by ‘Jimmy Mack’ for most comedy gigs–was killed in the accident.

    Tracy Morgan’s publicist Lewis Kay kept the media apprised of the comedian and actor’s condition as of Sunday morning, too.

    “Tracy remains in critical condition,” he wrote in an email statement.

    Jeffrey Millea of Shelton, Conntecticut and Ardie Fuqua, Jr., who is also a comedian, were still listed in critical condition as of Sunday morning as well. Comedian Harris Stanton was treated and released from the hospital on Saturday with minor injuries.

    Even though Tracy Morgan, Jeffrey Millea, and Ardie Fuqua are listed as critical, the media hasn’t yet received word of the extent of their injuries.

    Twitter followers have remained faithful–sharing prayers and words of encouragement for Tracy Morgan and his family as well as for the family of James McNair. Maria Menounos, Nicki Minaj, Henry Winkler, and Kevin Nealon shared the following posts.

    Fans awaiting word on Tracy Morgan’s condition are likely checking internet posts and TV reports frequently in hopes of learning some good news. Meanwhile the family of James McNair is preparing to say their goodbyes to a loved one. The driver of the tractor trailer that hit the limo has been charged and is out of jail on bail. He likely is suffering, too. He is, after all, responsible for taking a life.

  • Maria Menounos Talks Body, Book and New TV Show

    Maria Menounos once wore a size 14 and now wears a size 2. She touts the process by which she lost the weight and gained her spectacular body in her new book The Everygirl’s Guide to Diet and Fitness. Within its pages she details how she lost the weight and more importantly, how she kept the 40 pounds off.

    E! recently caught up with Maria and talked about her favorite body part as well as about a new show she will soon be hosting on their network.

    “I feel like that’s definitely my best asset,” Menounos says of her abs. “It’s not easy. I remember watching Janet Jackson back in the day and being like, ‘Oh my god, her abs are amazing. My abs will never be like that.’”

    “I can work harder at them and have them be ridiculous,” she added. “But it’s just enough now. I get a little line and it’s good.”

    Maria Menounos doesn’t live on pieces of cantaloupe and water either. In fact, she says she recently indulged in a burger and fries–along with a milkshake. Can you really do that and maintain a svelte size 2?

    “You don’t have to eat and gorge on every last drop,” Menounos advised. “You eat what you want and then you move on. I ate all of the cheeseburger but one big bite. And then I didn’t eat all the fries and the shake. I just had a few sips and I was like, ‘OK, that’s enough.’”

    Of course Maria keeps up an incredibly active workout schedule as well, which is also detailed in her book. And the fact that she is a very popular TV celebrity no doubt adds a few additional perks to her life that make both working out and eating properly a bit easier than it might be for the average woman.

    Nonetheless Maria Menounos and her abs look spectacular and fans will no doubt look forward to more information about her new show on E! and whether or not she will continue to appear on Extra with Mario Lopez.

  • Danica McKellar Breaks Rib During DWTS Rehearsal

    Another one bites the ballroom dance floor dust.

    Danica McKellar tweeted Friday that she’d broken a rib during ballroom practice for Dancing With the Stars with her partner Val Chmerkovskiy.

    It’s unknown at this point whether McKellar, who played Winnie Cooper on The Wonder Years, will be well enough to continue on the show, but it would seem doubtful, considering the pain associated with a rib fracture.

    And it seems that McKellar‘s injury is putting a toll on the dancing duo. Chermokvskiy tweeted that it has been a “very very tough week” so far.

    If the couple needs to pull out of the competition, it will be a shame. They scored a remarkable 36 out of 40 for their cha-cha routine last week and the judges were expecting them to be just as wonderful on Monday’s show.

    It’s not uncommon or surprising to see celebrities suffer from injuries during their stints on DWTS. After all, they don’t do this daily like the pros do and they are using body parts that may get little exercise in their normal lives.

    However, despite the pain of broken toes, concussions and ruptured discs, many celebrities and their partners continue to dance through the pain on the show.

    This isn’t the first time a contestant has suffered a rib injury. Maria Menounos continued to compete with two broken ribs and a fractured foot during her season in 2012.

    And McKellar isn’t the first celebrity to suffer an injury this season.

    Billy Dee Williams, 77, withdrew from the competition in March because of a chronic back injury.

    From her tweets, it looks like McKellar is going to give it a shot.

  • Maria Menounos Still Lives With Her Folks, She Says

    At 35 years old, Extra host Maria Menounos still lives with her parents, and she’s not embarrassed at all, she says.

    In an interview on Ellen earlier this week, Menounos said her decision to still live at home has to do with her Greek heritage, as multiple generations living under one roof is an old cultural tradition.

    Also, the dark haired beauty said that her boyfriend lives in the house as well, which is kind of tough sometimes, because her parents keep pressuring her to get married. Menounos has been with her boyfriend, Kevin Undergaro, for 15 years.

    But despite that pressure it’s still a joy to live with her folks, she says, and she loves the fact they get noticed from time to time, which is why she brought them on the Ellen show with her.

    “I just love the idea that I am able to take these two villagers from Greece who had no running water, they didn’t have shoes to go to school with and now they’re going to be famous on TV,” she said.

    Menounos is currently making the rounds promoting her new reality series called Chasing Maria Menounos, which is scheduled to start on March 18 on the Oxygen channel. The show will follow the 35 year old in both her professional and personal life, and it’ll document what her day-to-day is really like.

    In a separate interview with Ladies Home Journal, the part time professional wrestler said she had a difficult time staying healthy when she was younger, and as a teenager she constantly put on extra weight.

    “I grew a size every year,” said Menounos. “I didn’t gain the Freshman 15, I gained the Freshman 40.”

    “I was in and out of the hospital multiple times for exhaustion, malnutrition and dehydration. I realized my whole quest to have an amazing body needed to be seriously reevaluated. Just because you’re thin, doesn’t mean you’re healthier.”

    It seems Extra host Maria Menounos is getting back in the ring, the wrestling ring that is.

    Menounos will be joining WWE Diva Natalya Hart in a match against Brie Bella and whomever she chooses to be her partner, at SummerSlam Axxess. The other half of the Bella Twins, Nikki, has not been cleared for the event yet.

    Before that match was officially announced, there was some chatter on Twitter about the event. It seemed to start when Natalya tweeted the idea of Menounos being her partner.

    The author of The EveryGirl’s Guide to Life was more than happy about the idea of wrestling again.

    But in true Diva fashion, the Bella Twins couldn’t let the moment pass by without a little trash talk.

    Natalya wasn’t pleased with the way the Bella Twins were hassling Menounos, but she took that taunt to challenge the ladies with a Diva match.

    To keep the drama going, the Bella Twins had to get the last word.

    Those who pay close attention to Menounos’ twitter may have found her hinting of a return to wrestling a few days before Natalya even said anything.

    Menounos has occasionally been involved with WWE since 2009. Most notably, she won Wrestlemania XXVIII with partner Kelly Kelly, in April 2012. On October 12, 2009, she guest hosted WWE Raw with Nancy O’Dell, only to get involved in a six diva tag team match, with her being a part of the winning side. In December 2011, she was involved in an eight diva team match, for the WWE Tribute to the Troops. She also inducted former professional wrestler Bob Backlund into the WWE Hall of Fame at Madison Square Garden the night before Wrestlemania XXIX in April 2013.

  • Maria Menounos Eliminated from Dancing with the Stars: Twitter Reacts

    Maria Menounos, host of the news program “Extra”, and her dance partner Derek Hough were recently eliminated from the popular American rug-cutting competition “Dancing with the Stars”. Although the pair had the highest scores of the evening, apparently voters were tired of seeing the two perform each and every week. Tuesday night, they were officially booted from the show.

    “We finished last night and I was so happy, I was over the moon and I said to [Derek], ‘I did what I had to do. And tomorrow–que sera!’ Whatever happens from this point on, no one will ever know. But I did it. I’m happy and proud of what I did,” Menounos told Us Weekly.

    Derek Hough, Menounos’ 26 year-old partner, seems to be quite pleased with their overall performance. [We went] out on a high note. We have not had a bad dance.”

  • Maria Menounos Grabs First Perfect Score Of The Season

    “Dancing With The Stars” has seen it’s fair share of tears and drama this season, considering all the injuries the contestants have endured. Maria Menounos hasn’t been immune to the pressure that bears down on the dancers late in the season, either, and gave a tearful interview on last night’s episode.

    “Other people, I think, he’s had as partners were dancers…I’m not. Now I feel like I have to work even harder because the competition is so strong,” she said of her partner, Derek Hough.

    And work harder she did. Menounos donned fake vampire fangs and a gorgeous sparkling red backless gown for the paso doble done to Prokofiev’s “Montagues and Capulets”, a dark and dramatic song heavy on the string instruments.

    The dance was fraught with tension, as any good paso doble should be, and the team’s moves were executed flawlessly. The dance earned them the first perfect score of the season and endless praise from the judges, who were blown away.

    “Sharp as a razor, crisp as a Pringle, and more tension that my grandmother’s knicker elastic,” said judge Len Goodman.

    Menounos now challenges Katherine Jenkins for the top spot.

  • Debra Messing, Maria Menounos Pose In The Buff For Magazine

    Red-headed hottie Debra Messing apparently isn’t shy about showing off her figure, and if I looked like her I doubt I would be, either.

    The 43-year old “Will & Grace” and “Smash” actress appears nude in an upcoming issue of Allure Magazine, giving a teasing glimpse of her naked backside as she lounges on a soft white bed wearing nothing but her shadow and a coy smile. Sporting glowing skin and dark, kohl-rimmed eyes, she joins “Dancing With The Stars” contestant Maria Menounos in a black-and-white pictorial shot by photographer Patrick Demarcheller.

    “Once you have a child, once you pass 40, you have a different relationship with your body,” Messing said. “I love my body in a way I never have before.”

    The issue’s cover girl, Heidi Klum, also appears in the shoot, baring a statuesque, toned body that surely doesn’t look like it’s borne four children. She talks briefly about her recent split with husband and singer Seal, saying she’s not ruling out a reconciliation.

    “Time will tell,” she says. “I’m still in the eye of the storm now, and its all a little bit crazy. But sometimes you have to be apart in order to figure it out.”
