  • Benedict Cumberbatch Strikes Again, “Cumberbombs” Meryl Streep And Margaret Cho

Benedict Cumberbatch Strikes Again, “Cumberbombs” Meryl Streep And Margaret Cho

Despite tackling serious roles such as his recent portrayal of Alan Turing in The Imitation Game, Benedict Cumberbatch is also known for his antics off-screen. Back in last year’s Oscars, Cumberbatch photobombed rock band U2 as they were getting their photos taken. In the 2015 Golden Globe Awards, Cumberbatch was up to his old tricks yet again. During a skit where Margaret Cho (as a North Korean report) asks for a photo with Meryl Streep to be taken by Michael Keaton, Cumberbatch stole the scene by doing one of his “Cumberbombs”.

Cho’s appearance as a North Korean reporter was a reference to her role in Tina Fey’s show, 30 Rock, as well as a jab at the recent North Korean hacking scandal. During the opening monologue of the show, Fey and co-host Amy Poehler referenced the attack by saying, “Tonight we celebrate all the great television shows we know and love as well as the movies that North Korea was okay with. North Korea threatened an attack if Sony Pictures released The Interview forcing us all to pretend we wanted to see it.”

After the monologue, Cumberbatch took to the stage alongside Jennifer Aniston to present the Best Supoorting Actor award. The award went to JK Simmons for his role as a tough jazz instructor in the drama Whiplash. Cumberbatch himself was nominated for a Best Actor award for his work in The Imitation Game, but it was Eddie Redmayne who managed to nab the trophy for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything.

And while Cumberbatch didn’t receive any awards during the Golden Globes, he has enough cause to celebrate. It was recently confirmed that he and fiancée Sophie Hunter are expecting a baby. And with the award season in full swing, there’s still a chance for Cumberbatch to get that Best Actor win… and maybe another photobomb or two.

  • Margaret Cho Cast in New Tina Fey Series

Margaret Cho Cast in New Tina Fey Series

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Margaret Cho has just landed a major role in the new Tina Fey series. The untitled show, being called Cabot College, follows the students and staff at a women’s college that has just opened its doors to men for the first time.

Cho will play the president of Cabot College, Laura Thibault. Thibault attempts a welcoming attitude towards the newly admitted boys, but she gets annoyed with their antics. This is the second time Cho and Fey have worked together on a television project. Cho guest starred in 30 Rock as Kim Jong II. This performance earned her an Emmy nomination.

Cho’s current major television appearance is on Lifetime’s hit-series Drop Dead Diva. She reprises this role for its sixth season later this year.

Matt Hubbard (who was also an executive producer on 30 Rock) is the creator and executive producer of Cabot College. Fey and Robert Carlock also are co-executive producers, and the series will be directed by Pam Fryman.

The other cast members include Guiding Light alum Bonnie Dennison who plays a hard-core feminist sophomore at Cabot college. She leads a small group of women who don’t want men at their school. Also co-starring in the series is The Fosters’ Brandon Jones, Chelsea Lately’s Fortune Feimster and Broadway actor Jack Cutmore-Scott.

The News of Cho joining the cast was met with excitement from her new fellow castmates. Many of them sent her tweets of congratulations on Twitter.

Cho showed her own excitement about it on Twitter as well.

  • Margaret Cho to Star in Tina Fey’s New Fox Comedy

Margaret Cho earned an Emmy nomination for her guest spot on 30 Rock by hilariously playing both Kim Jong-Il and Kim Jong-Un. Now, the Drop Dead Diva actress and comedienne is reteaming with Tina Fey and writer Matt Hubbard in Fey’s new untitled Fox comedy series. According to the The Hollywood Reporter, Cho will star as Laura Thibault, the president of Cabot College. The sitcom’s story jumpstarts when Cho’s character reluctantly decides to allow males into the once all-female university.

The multi-camera show will also feature actress Bonnie Dennison, Third Watch, as a sophomore feminist who is unhappy about the president’s decision to allow men on campus. Other cast members include Jack Cutmore-Scott from Broadway, Chelsey Lately’s Fortune Feimster and Brandon Jones from CSI.

The comedy will go into production this March. However, you may not have to wait until next fall to see the pilot. Fox is switching to a year-round format to reflect the changing landscape of television in the modern age. Fox Entertainment Chairman Keven Reilly told reporters last week why the change was inevitable. “The broadcasting development and scheduling system was built in a different era, when there were three networks monopolizing all the talent and all the audience. Typically, the networks currently make 80 to 100 pilots in the course of a few months, which ends up diluting the talent pool and a show’s chances of going the distance.”

Tina Fey will serve as executive producer of the comedy. Matt Hubbard wrote the pilot. He will also serve as executive producer along with Robert Carlock, Pam Fryman and Robert Carlock. Cho is still set to appear on Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva for the comedy/drama’s upcoming sixth season. No exact date has been announced for the premiere but fans can expect to see Diva sometime later this year.

  • Margaret Cho Says She’d Love To Do DWTS

Margaret Cho Says She’d Love To Do DWTS

Actress and comedienne Margaret Cho is a very busy lady, and her fans couldn’t be happier.

Between her stand-up routines, a guest spot on the enormously popular Tiny Fey vehicle “30 Rock” (as Kim Jong-Il and Kim Jong-Un, which is awesomely hilarious), a new cooking show, and a regular role on the Lifetime show “Drop Dead Diva”, Cho has a lot on her plate lately, but that doesn’t mean people are tired of seeing her. Fans are clamoring for Cho to appear on the upcoming All-Star season of “Dancing With The Stars”, partly because they say she got robbed during her time on the 2010 season. She was third to be eliminated that season but thanked the judges for not going easy on her. And, she says, it was fun work with a nice paycheck.

Cho is most excited about her cooking show, which she calls a “social experiment” and involves strangers getting together with a dish to bond over the food they feel represents them; however, she says she would love to appear on the upcoming season of “DWTS”, but cast members have to be voted in so it’s up to the viewers.
