  • Lolo Jones Joins Camp That Think “50 Shades Of Grey” Is Harmful To Society

Lolo Jones, talented athlete and outspoken Christian, has joined the movement of people who think 50 Shades of Grey is trash and harmful to our society.

Lolo Jones and many others out there have made known their distaste for the erotic novels.

They have blogged, tweeted, and shared their way into the fray with strong opposition to the “mommy porn” books and now, the movie.

Lolo Jones is a notorious virgin and starred in the latest Left Behind movie with Nicolas Cage.

Therefore, her stance is not surprising.

Lolo Jones also proposed a theory as to why the movie’s premise is so popular and relateable in our society.

Her social media posts about 50 Shades of Grey earned her a backlashing like she most likely never imagined.

Lolo Jones took to Facebook to defend herself and her stance.

In her post, Lolo Jones says (after listing some pretty terrible and crude names people have hurled at her since her tweets), “I just wish every woman would know she is worth more than what this movie depicts. And that every man knows being a gentleman is not outdated.”

What do you think about 50 Shades of Grey?

Do you agree with Lolo Jones that the franchise is bad for our society, as a whole?

Even if you don’t, do you feel that the reaction to her tweets was a little harsh?

  • Lolo Jones Says We Should Pray for Oscar Pistorius

Olympian sprinter Oscar Pistorius was sentenced to five years in prison this week after being convicted of culpable homicide, which roughly corresponds to a charge of manslaughter in the United States courts.

The judge who sentenced Pistorius spoke about why he is sending him to prison, rather than straight to house arrest.

“I am of the view that a non-custodial sentence would send the wrong message to the community,” Judge Thokozile Masipasaid, “but a long sentence would not be appropriate because it would lack the elements of mercy,”

Pistorius will be eligible to apply for house arrest in ten months.

Pistorius’ fellow Olympian Lolo Jones was hustling through an airport on her way to catch a flight when TMZ caught up to her and asked her opinion about Pistorius’ sentencing.

“I didn’t really stay up with much of the trial… It’s hard for me because I actually have a dad who was in prison for murder. He served a life sentence but got out early on good parole [sic], so I’m one of the most non-judgmental people on people who are struggling.

“I know on one end you have the [Steenkamp] family who’s suffering and then on the other you have Oscar, as well… It’s in God’s hands. For me as a Christian God’s my ultimate judge…I don’t know all the details, that’s why I can’t make a proper statement on it. You just have to keep the family in your prayers for sure because they lost their daughter, and you have to keep Oscar in your prayers to make sure that in prison he rehabs and has great counseling.”

  • Bruno Tonioli Tells Lolo Jones To Move On After Her Dancing With The Stars Elimination

Recently, TMZ caught up with Dancing With The Stars judge Bruno Tonioli and asked him about Lolo Jones’ elimination from the competition in the first round. Tonioli did not hold back on his comments and essentially urged the former Olympian to move on with her life.

Earlier that week, Jones turned to Facebook to express her sadness over her elimination in a status that said she had been hoping to redeem herself on the show by working hard. The status went on to say that she was tired of being embarrassed. Jones and her partner Keo Motsope were eliminated from Dancing With The Stars because she had missed her cue, which sent their cha cha routine askew.

Tonioli, who is famous for his unorthodox comments on the show, thought that Jones’s reaction was “appropriate,” but also didn’t mince words. “Something went terribly wrong and she did as best as she could, but obviously, as they say, s— happens. But bless her!” he said.

The 58-year-old judge advised Jones to move on. Tonioli also discussed how it was common for slip-ups to happen on live shows and commended her for persevering despite the mess. “She took it very well. It’s a live show. Anyone that has done live performances knows that things sometimes can go wrong. She tried to cover it as best as she could, but the cast is very strong this season so, you know, it’s tough. She took it very elegantly and she behaved appropriately,” he said.

Despite expressing his sympathy for Jones, Tonioli was evidently still very pleased about the season premiere of Dancing With The Stars. “It was fabulous! Fabulous! Unmissable [sic] television!” he gushed.

Tonioli had gotten in trouble in 2011 for some reportedly uncouth comments about a dance number by Karate Kid’s Ralph Macchio and dancer Karina Smirnoff. This season, it seems that the judge has learned to be a bit more constructive with his comments.

  • Lolo Jones Is First Person Dropped From New Season Of Dancing With The Stars

On September 16, the first results show of the new season of hit reality TV series Dancing With The Stars saw its first elimination. Olympic athlete Lolo Jones and partner Keo Motsepe were dropped because of what the judges deemed a stiff performance of the cha cha.

Jones and Motsepe were one out of two dancing couples threatened with elimination from the show, with designer Betsey Johnson and professional partner Tony Dovolani sharing the stage due to a wardrobe malfunction with a feather boa. However, the way Jones quickly defended herself after her performance might have tipped the scales, since she interrupted the judges and came off as a little rude. Jones and Motsepe ended up being the first pair to be sent home.

She made a guest appearance on Good Morning America the following morning and explained what happened in her performance. Jones claimed that she missed certain cues, which affected her entire dance routine. “I was waiting for three text message cues, and [Motsepe] was trying to train me saying, ‘Things could happen; you may not have the cue,’ but I felt so rushed. You already have so much anxiety, and it killed me,” she said.

Interview with Lolo Jones and dance partner Keo Motsepe on GMA

Jones added that she tried to learn from the experience, even if it was short-lived. “Whenever I go do something tough, I try to take away something. Three Olympics—you have to take away something if you’re not taking away a medal. A lot of people didn’t understand my frustration, but I feel like I let Keo down. He came all the way from South Africa, and I killed our dance,” she said.

She further explained her ordeal on the show in a Facebook status she posted after the elimination, saying she had flashbacks of “the three Olympics that people constantly tease [her] about.” Jones revealed that she had joined Dancing With the Stars because she wanted to perform well so that haters would stop teasing her, but realized that she didn’t need to work so hard for public validation after she was eliminated.

  • Lolo Jones Talks Early Elimination From ‘Dancing With the Stars’

Lolo Jones only made it through one performance on the 19th season of Dancing With the Stars before being eliminated.

Apparently, she made an early mistake in her dance routine and was unable to rebound before she was axed from the popular dance series.

Now, she’s suffering from the aftermath. Lots of fans felt she was quite bitter and displeased with the elimination. However, she’s opted to set the record straight.

On Tuesday, September 16, the Olympian spoke with E! News about the elimination and public response she’s received. Surprisingly, the negative response has been quite overwhelming. She’s even reportedly been receiving hate messages, reports Hollywood Reporter. So, now she’s putting the whole ordeal into perspective.

“I wish I could’ve rebounded better,” Jones admitted to the publication. “I was literally holding back the tears from crying and I had all that makeup on, and I was like, ‘Don’t mess up your makeup!’”

She also opted to open up about her feelings. Although most spectators thought she displayed bitterness, she revealed she was actually quite nervous.

“People thought I was just being a bitter contestant…Keo had to pull me aside a couple of times, and I was like, ‘I can’t breathe. I can’t believe I just did that. I can’t believe I messed up the whole dance.’ And he was just trying to calm me down and was like, ‘We’ll be fine, we’ll be fine.’”

Last night, the 32-year-old track and field star also posted an intimate message to Facebook addressing her fans.

“My prayer tonight is for God to soften me and my heart. When you go so many times rejected in public you put walls up,” she said.

“When I was dancing last night and messed up I had flashbacks of the three Olympics and that people constantly tease me about. I thought oh no here it comes again. People are going to ridicule me. I’m so tired of feeling embarrassed,” she explained.

She admitted she couldn’t fake how she truly felt. The elimination was an embarrassing moment and she felt like a failure.

“I joined the other competitors upstairs and I …couldn’t force a smile on my face. I felt like vomiting and in between the other dances I went in a back room and fought back tears. I felt so broken. So unlovable. Embarrassed,” she revealed.

Although she didn’t make it to a second performance on Dancing With the Stars, one thing is evident – she’s human. Dancing With the Stars airs Mondays at 8:00pm on ABC.
  • ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Season 19 Premiere

‘Dancing With the Stars’ Season 19 Premiere

Dancing With the Stars premieres its 19th season on Monday evening, and the cast members are reportedly ready–and very excited–about their first forays across the dance floor.

Thirteen ‘stars’ will compete for that coveted mirrorball trophy throughout season 19. This season’s contestants include Jonathan Bennett, Tommy Chong, Randy Couture, Betsey Johnson, Lolo Jones, Bethany Mota, Janel Parrish, Alfonso Ribeiro, Sadie Robertson, Antonio Sabato, Jr., Tavis Smiley, Lea Thompson, and Michael Waltrip. Of course each of these contestants is paired with a dance professional. This season’s pros include Mark Ballas, Cheryl Burke, Sharna Burgess, Witney Carson, Artem Chigvintsev, Valentin Chmerkovskiy, Tony Dovolani, Allison Holker, Derek Hough, Keo Motsepe, Peta Murgatroyd, Emma Slater, and Karina Smirnoff.

Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba return to the Dancing With the Stars judges’ desk. They are also joined this season by two-time mirrorball trophy winner and film star Julianne Hough–whose brother Derek is one of the pro dancers.

USA Today reports that some of these ‘stars‘ are amateurs at best, and that it really is quite a stretch to call them stars. Since the show is called Dancing With the Stars, however, the producers had to do what they could to come up with contestants who could somewhat fit that criteria.

Duck Dynasty star Korie Robertson is already soliciting votes for daughter Sadie Robertson.

Will you be tuning in to the season 19 premiere of Dancing With the Stars on Monday evening, September 15th, at 8PM? Dancing With the Stars airs on ABC.

Which of the ‘stars’ might you be rooting for during season 19?

  • ‘Dancing With the Stars:’ Who Are These Stars?

Dancing With the Stars hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews announced the new season’s cast a few days ago, leaving some fans to ask, “Where are the stars?” Of course it was pretty likely from the inception of the show that they would eventually run out of real stars–but Tommy Chong? He and Cheech Marin made up the duo famously known as ‘Cheech and Chong.’ The two smoked enough pot back in the 1970s to leave them with a life long case of the munchies.

In addition to Tommy Chong, who will be paired with dance pro Peta Murgatroyd, is a lineup of cast members who might become stars by appearing on Dancing With the Stars, but really aren’t stars as of yet. A few were stars, but haven’t had that claim to fame for a very long time.

Sadie Robertson is Phil Robertson’s granddaughter and she sometimes appears on Duck Dynasty, so that makes her a ‘sort-of’ star–maybe even a ‘star in training.’ Sadie will compete on Dancing With the Stars with Mark Ballas.

Michael Waltrip is a star if you’re a pro racing fan. He will temporarily trade in his race car for dancing shoes and is paired with DWTS pro Emma Slater.

Lolo Jones is an Olympic star, unless you count her efforts on the bobsled during the 2014 Winter Olympics. She will dance with Keo Motsepe, and can at least outrun everyone on the show if she feels she’s too embarrassed to continue on with the competition.

Jonathan Bennett joins Dancing With the Stars following (no one said ‘following soon thereafter’) his appearance in the 2004 film Mean Girls. He won’t be dancing with Lindsay Lohan, but rather with dance pro Allison Holker.

If you loved Back to the Future, you’ll remember Lea Thompson, who played Marty McFly’s (Michael J. Fox) love interest Lorraine Baines. She has come back to the present to dance with Artem Chigvintsev.

Antonio Sabato, Jr. earned his stardom on General Hospital and Melrose Place, meaning when the drama gets ridiculous on Dancing With the Stars, he just might be involved. Cheryl Burke–his dance partner-in-crime–will likely hold him accountable for his actions, however.

Randy Couture is a champion mixed martial artist who is trying to become a star as part of The Expendables franchise. In the meantime he is dancing with Karina Smirnoff on Dancing With the Stars.

Janel Parrish plays the role of Mona Vanderwaal on Pretty Little Liars. Hopefully she leaves Mona’s cunning personality on that set as she comes to the DWTS set to compete alongside the very handsome Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

Designer Betsey Johnson is a star in the fashion world. Might she be there to help out with the costumes she and partner Tony Dovolani will wear during this season’s competition?

Bethany Mota comes to your TV straight from YouTube. She is a beauty expert with more than seven million followers. How does that even happen? She is dancing with just one Dancing With the Stars pro, however–Derek Hough–whose sister Julianne Hough will be sitting at the judge’s table this season.

Alfonso Ribeiro comes from 1996–the last year The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air aired. He played the role of Carlton Banks opposite Will Smith. Will couldn’t be his dance partner on Dancing With the Stars (oh–he wasn’t asked?) so Alfonso is dancing with pro Witney Carson instead.

Rounding out this season’s contestants is Tavis Smiley. The talk show host (most of us don’t know where he did that talking) will dance with Sharna Burgess.

Will you be tuning in to watch this season of Dancing With the Stars? It premieres on September 15th on ABC. How many of this season’s ‘stars’ do you recognize?

  • DWTS Season 19 Cast Leaked: ‘Duck Dynasty’ Star Sadie Robertson Reportedly Among the New Cast

The Dancing With the Stars Season 19 cast was recently leaked, and it looks like it will be a great season.

Duck Dynasty star Sadie Robertson, 17, will reportedly have her chance to fulfill her dream to compete with other stars for the Mirror Ball Trophy when the new season premieres Sept. 15 on ABC.

Korie Robertson, the mother of the teen and wife of Willie Robertson, told Us Weekly that her daughter has always wanted to be on the dance reality TV show.

“I think that our kids are really natural in front of the camera and they have fun with it,” said Korie. “Sadie I think wants to maybe be in a talk show and she wants to be on ‘Dancing with the Stars!’”

Joining Robertson is Janel Parrish, who plays Mona on Pretty Little Liars, confirmed by Us Weekly.

Others competing on the new season of DWTS are Olympian Lolo Jones and Antonio Sabato Jr., a former Calvin Klein model and former General Hospital actor.

Former pro-dancer Julianne Hough — and brother of pro-dancer Derek Hough — will also be returning to the reality show for Season 19 as a fourth judge, joining returning judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman, and Bruno Tonioli.

“I’m so excited to be back with my Dancing with the Stars family again on a regular basis,” said Hough in a press release.

The list of pro-dancers includes DWTS veterans Cheryl Burke and Mark Ballas. It has also been confirmed that Derek Hough will be returning to the show, as well as Val Chmerkovskiy, Tony Dovolani, Emma Slater, Peta Murgatroyd, and Witney Carson.

Reportedly joining the returning pros this season are new pro-dancers Artem Chiqvintsev, Keoikantse Motsepe, and Allison Holker.

The Dancing With The Stars complete celebrity roster will officially be revealed on Good Morning America on Thursday. The leaked list, as reported by The Christian Post, looks like this:

Olympian Lolo Jones; partnered with Keo Motsepe
Tommy Chong of Cheech and Chong; partnered with Peta Murgatroyd
Duck Dynasty star Sadie Robertson; partnered with Mark Ballas
Actor Antonio Sabato Jr.; partnered with Cheryl Burke
YouTube star Bethany Mota; partnered with Derek hugh
Actor Jonathan Bennett; partnered with Allison Holker
MMA Champion Randy Couture; partnered with Karina Smirnoff
Pretty Little Liars star Janel Parrish; partnered with Val Chmerkoskiy
Fresh prince of Bel-Air star Alfonso Ribiero; partnered with Witney Carson
Designer Betsey Johnson; partnered with Tony Dovolani
Race car driver Michael Waltrip; partnered with Emma Slater
Actress Lea Thompson; partnered with Artem Chigvintsev

  • Lolo Jones: Looks Enough to Win in Sochi? Not!

No doubt about it, Lolo Jones is pretty hot and draws viewers to whatever sport she decides to compete in.

Well, apparently NBC seems to think so.

But fellow bobsledders are not as thrilled with her selection to compete as a pusher on the women’s bobsled team in Sochi.

Jones, who is set to become the ninth American to compete in both the Summer and Winter Olympics, joins Aja Evans and Lauryn Williams on the team.

The women she beat out, Emily Azevedo and Kate Eberling voiced their opinions about the choice to USA Today Sports.

Implying Jones’ popularity and her standing as a media darling earned her the coveted spot, Azevedo said, “I should have been working harder on gaining Twitter followers than gaining muscle mass.” Jones has more than 375,000 Twitter followers, while Azevedo has just over 2,000.

    Eberling agrees with Azevedo’s assessment.

“I feel this year there was a certain agenda,” she said. “It’s no fault of my teammates. There’s been a lot of inconsistencies and that makes you wonder what’s going on. It’s not right.”

Jones was expected to win the gold in the 100-meter hurdles in the Beijing Olympics, but ended up seventh after missing a hurdle. She placed fourth in the London Olympics in 2012.

The 27-year-old Christian has also drawn attention with her declaration that she is a virgin and intends to remain so until marriage.

Several members of the men’s bobsledding team also disagreed with the decision. “It’s hard for me to name one or two athletes that would completely agree with that decision,” said push athlete Curt Tomasevicz.

“We’re returning gold medalists and not getting much PR because all the bobsled attention is on Lolo,” he said. “It brings a lot of attention to the sport which can be a good thing, but I’m not just sure who is benefiting from that attention.”

  • Lolo Jones Makes U.S. Bobsled Team For Sochi

American track and field star Lolo Jones was selected on Sunday night for the U.S. Olympic bobsled team, officials announced.

Lolo Jones will join her track and field teammate Lauryn Williams to become the 9th and 10th Americans to compete in both the Summer and Winter Olympics. The two women along with Aja Evans, will make up the brake/push portion of the team. The pilots of the sled will be Jamie Greubel, Elana Meyers and Jazmine Fenlator. The athletes received the news at the team hotel in Igls, Austria.

The decision was difficult for the U.S. Bobsled officials because the team has a deep and talented pool of athletes from which to choose.  “We knew heading into the season that the Olympic selection was going to be extremely difficult,” said Darrin Steele, U.S. Bobsled and Skeleton CEO. Even brakeman Katie Eberling was left out despite having three bronze medals in four World Cup races. Officials preferred Jones, believing that the two-time World Cup silver medalist would give the team a better chance at winning.

The U.S. is lucky to have an abundance of talent to choose from, but for those who were not selected, the news will likely be very disappointing.

“It was hard to hear the announcement and know that girls you’ve been rocking with the entire season, half of staying and half of them are going,” said Aja Evans. Evans is one of the lucky ones who made the team, though  she still couldn’t help feeling disappointed for her teammates that didn’t make the cut.

Lolo Jones’ selection may trigger some scrutiny considering she is  better known as a track and field athlete than as a bobsledder. Even so, she is steadily gaining more recognition for her achievements on the ice. Jones had a dismal 4th place finish in the women’s 110 meter hurdles at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. The same year, however, she went on to medal in her very first  Bobsleigh World Cup and gained instant credibility in the sport.

Jones later talked Lauryn Williams into the sport. Williams joined, and has not disappointed yet, winning three medals in four World Cup races. Analysts say Williams might be the biggest surprise in the games. Her combination of speed and strength makes her one of the best American push athletes.

Watch out for Jones and Williams in the Sochi Winter Olympics, starting Friday, Feb. 7.

  • Lolo Jones: Can She Pull It Off?

Now that Lolo Jones has succeeded in getting herself a spot as a brakeman on this season’s US Women’s bobsled team, the question becomes, will she be able to hang on to it?

The spot means that she is eligible to make the Sochi team in February, but for one reason or another, bobsled politics are notoriously controversial, according to the Christian Science Monitor.

The question is: Should you choose the biggest, baddest brakeman or the one with the best working relationship with the pilot. The answer is one that the US is famous for getting wrong. Jones is a powerful, elite athlete with a record to back it up, but does she have what it takes to be like one with her pilot?

Elana Myers, a medal favorite for Sochi and driver of the USA-1 sled, agrees that a pilot and brakeman need to be on the same page.

“A great brakeman knows what I need before I need it,” she said at a media summit earlier this month. “Sometimes it is difficult.”

She has that connection with veterans Aja Evans and Katie Eberling, she said. But as a former brakeman herself, she understands that new brakemen need an opportunity to break through. “As a brakeman, you want that opportunity.”

However, does the chance of that opportunity come at the cost of valuable familiarity? This seems to be something that the US teams are continually lacking.

“Crew familiarity is something that has always escaped USA Bobsled,” said pilot Steven Holcomb, and Olympic gold medalist, at the media summit.

Someone might have better measureables, like push times, sprint speeds, etc., but on the track the team has to be seamless unit, and that comes only from familiarity and experience, Holcomb suggested.

“You go to war with these guys,” he said. “Any sort of hesitation can cost a medal.”

Can Lolo pull it off? We shall see…

  • Lolo Jones Makes U.S. Bobsled National Team

You may recognize the name Lolo Jones from her days as an Olympic track star. But now, the popular athlete, is officially one of nine females to make the U.S. Bobsled National Team. The qualification means that she has a good shot at making the U.S. Olympic team for the games in Sochi, Russia this winter.

We’ve witnessed many a great athlete, think Deion Sanders and Bo Jackson, possess the skill set to compete in multiple sports. According to veteran bobsled champion, Elana Meyers, most athletes who transition over to bobsledding, do in fact, come from other sporting activities. She explained, “Whenever we bring in new people, we tell them to use their experiences from the previous sport and bring what they already know into our sport. That’s the thing, everybody from our sport comes from a different sport. Nobody grows up bobsledding.”

Jones even recruited fellow track-star and Olympic Gold Medalist Sprinter, Lauryn Williams, to join her on attempting to make the Olympic team. It didn’t seem to matter that Williams had never even touched a bobsled until four months ago. Within a week of practice, Williams placed third in the National Push Championships. And now we’re talking about the distinct possibility that we will see Williams racing amongst the best bobsledders in the world at this winter’s Olympic games.

Lolo Jones was the favorite to win the 100-meter hurdles at the Summer Olympics in Beijing in 2008. In fact, she had become the sweetheart story in America. Lolo overcame great obstacles, poverty and depression, and rose above it all to go after an Olympic dream. The race started and Jones was in the lead, however, she tripped on the second to last hurdle and fell to seventh place.

Here’s a look at the heartbreaking race:

Still, Jones is the current American record holder in the 60-meter hurdles and has won multiple Gold Medals at the World Indoor Championships. Now in her second year of bobsledding, the brakeman will look forward to another shot at possibly bringing home Olympic Gold.

  • Lolo Jones To Become Bobsled Champion

Lolo Jones To Become Bobsled Champion

It’s not unusual for athletes to excel in one sport and then transfer their energies to either learn another sport or diversify themselves within the originating sport. After becoming the name in basketball, Michael Jordan moved onto baseball for a period of time. Michael Phelps competed in multiple swimming competitions.

So, the recent career switch for the talented Lolo Jones should come as no surprise. Lolo Jones has already competed in the Olympics through the track and field competition where she participated as a 100-meter hurdler in track. She is now competing in the bobsled sport. Her diet has been adjusted to consume 9,000 calories a day in order to gain thirty pounds.

Lolo Jones understands the need to muscle and as an Olympic hopeful in the bobsled arena. “You’re with the bobsled at the truck and inhaling the smoke fumes from the exhaust pipe, just holding on. It’s a very blue-collar sport. It takes a tough person,” Lolo said.

Lolo’s past athletic record and prowess has not gone unnoticed. “Transitioning to bobsled, having her speed and power, and also that experience as an elite athlete … she’s at the top of her game in her respective sport. So I think she brought a lot of knowledge and maturity that way and was super open to bobsled,” Jazmine Fenlator said.

Bobsledding is a unique sport, which usually is not at the forethought of an aspiring athlete’s mind. Most bobsledding athletes have been actively involved in other sports. Elana Meyers, who is a U.S. pilot, explained the strength of this tendency where athletes from all different sports can use their knowledge and skills to advance the sport of bobsledding.

“Whenever we bring in new people, we tell them to use their experiences from the previous sport and bring what they already know into our sport. That’s the thing, everybody from our sport comes from a different sport. Nobody grows up bobsledding,” Elana Meyers said.

  • Lolo Jones Tweets about Rachel Jeantel

Lolo Jones Tweets about Rachel Jeantel

New rule: Lolo Jones, Olympic hurdler, has to stay away from social media and any other technology that enables her to voice her thoughts to the general population.

Watching the testimony of Rachel Jeantel, witness in the George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin murder trial, Jones tweeted the following:

Rachel Jeantel looked so irritated during the cross-examination that I burned it on DVD and I’m going to sell it as Madea goes to court.
    — Lolo Jones (@lolojones) June 27, 2013

    Wow.

There’s no need to over-analyze this impolitic reference to Tyler Perry’s Madea character, but this latest incident might be a nice moment to reflect on Jones’s tendency to shoot herself in the foot (bad business for a hurdler).

During the 2012 London Olympics, Jones tweeted, “USA Men’s Archery lost the gold medal to Italy but that’s ok, we are Americans… When’s da Gun shooting competition?” A bit tone deaf considering she tweeted this less than two weeks after the Aurora, Colorado movie theater massacre at a screening of “The Dark Knight Rises.”

And earlier this month, she posted a Vine video in which she shows off her paltry $741 paycheck from the US Bobsled and Skeleton Federation, complete with mock phone call to her landlord to say she’d be a bit late with the rent.

This rankled bobsledders, for whom $741 apparently seems sensible for an entire season’s work (Jones took up bobsledding this past winter to try to find the success that eluded her at the London Olympics). To quell that, Jones claimed she was trying to help her fellow bobsledders by drumming up financial support. “I can’t imagine,” she stated,

halfway through my track season having to stop and raise money to finish. The vine of the paycheck is just showing the difference between track and bobsled, and to be honest bobsledders work more hours than track! The bottom line is that all Olympic athletes dedicate their lives to their sports and do not receive lucrative paychecks like athletes in mainstream professional sports. So hopefully this will make people appreciate just how hard Olympians work, often just for the love of the sport.

Long story short, Lolo’s got a good sense of humor and epicly bad judgement.

  • Lolo Jones Shows Off Her Paycheck For US Bobsledding Team

If ever there was an athlete made to fully embrace the six seconds of glory that is Vine, it would be social media maven/Olympic athlete, Lolo Jones. The prolific Twitter user has gone all in with the mini video application, something her recent Vine activity demonstrates quite well. Apart from embracing the quickly decreasing attention span of, well, everyone, Vine looks like it’s providing an evolution of sorts for what has surely become the favorite social media sharing/mobile phone camera activity, taking selfies.

In her latest video, however, Jones uses her “I take great selfies” ability to bring attention to the inequality of funding regarding Olympic athletes. Of course, Jones had to explain that position after posting the following video:

While Jones’ has since explained the reason for posting the video, when it first hit, people apparently took at as Jones acting like a spoiled athlete, while pointing out she, in fact, has money from previous endorsements. While that may be the case, it took Jones clarifying before it clicked:

“I don’t want to make anyone mad, and I’ve always wanted to help out the bobsled athletes,” Jones exclusively tells E! News. “Some of them have debt because they’ve given their life to the sport. My partner Jazmine [Fenlator] and I had to raise money for the bobsled to be funded just to finish the season, because only two of the three sleds are funded by the team… The Vine of the paycheck is just showing the difference between track and bobsled, and to be honest, bobsledders work more hours than track!”

Jones has played this angle up on Twitter as well:

Perhaps Jones should use her influence and commercial appeal to bring about change to the funding imbalance. Furthermore, CelebrityNetWorth.org has the Olympian’s 2012 earnings at $1.5 million, and her endorsers include:

Her sponsors include ASICS, McDonald’s Corporation, Red Bull, Oakley, Procter & Gamble, Twinlab Corporation, BP, DISC Sports & Spine Center, and Kemin

Granted, I don’t know a great deal about Olympic training, and the fundraising involved, but it seems to me most of the companies listed in Jones’ stable of endorsers would be happy to be associated with such a cause, especially McDonald’s, which is always eager to paint itself in a positive light. Supporting an under-funded Olympian just seems like another solid PR move.

Lolo Jones has made quite a name for herself in the past few years as a force to be reckoned with on the track, competing in the Olympic Games with a drive unmatched by many. She is well-recognized because of the media attention she gets (like Tim Tebow, Jones claims she is a virgin and will stay that way until marriage), and, like many athletes, she is often challenged to prove her skills against a jokester who thinks they can take her on.

So when she got a tweet from football player Eric LeGrand asking for a race, she sent this in reply:

“Get Checked for a concussion. Clearly, u’ve been hit in the head… Cos u arnt beating a track athlete.”

The problem? LeGrand suffered a spinal injury in 2010 and is now paralyzed from the neck down.

As soon as the tweet went out, the backlash began. Jones’ Twitter page was flooded with angry responses accusing her of being insensitive and horrible. Very few people seemed to realize that Jones wasn’t aware of who LeGrange was at the time–she only knew he was a football player–and was simply joking back the way she does with many fans. She later apologized and reached out to LeGrange, who took it in stride.

  • Lolo Jones in the Market for Love Following the Olympics

Lolo Jones is an attractive girl, which is why I find it surprising that she’s currently single. I’m sure training for something as epic as the Olympics kind of squashes any hopes of romance, but this doesn’t mean Jones isn’t going to start looking after the event has come to a close. So if you’re young, hot, and, preferably, an actor, then give her a call once she’s done proving she’s a much better athlete than you. There’s a strong possibility she might call you back.

“Whatever actor is watching this—if you’re single and you are hot, I am single as well. Hit me up after the Olympics,” she told E! during a recent interview. Somewhere in Hollywood, Tom Cruise is inserting lifts into his shoes and dreaming of the wonderful times they’ll have together.

In case you’re interested, Lolo Jones is currently 29, stands at 5-foot-7, and weighs a 141 pounds. Plus, she’s remarkably successful. The Iowa native is also something of a celebrity these days, scoring seven sponsorships and getting plenty of coverage from such outlets as HBO, ESPN, NBC’s Nightly News, and, last but not least, Rolling Stone.

Here’s the catch: Lolo Jones is a virgin, and she intends to stay that way until she’s married. So if you’re a hot, talented young actor looking for a quick Olympic booty call in the middle of the night, Jones isn’t your girl. She has values, folks, and she isn’t about to change them just to satisfy her carnal desires. I wish more people had this level of self-control.

If this article hasn’t scared you off, then perhaps you’re the right fit for the amazing Lolo Jones. Be sure to give her a buzz after the Olympics. Assuming, of course, you can handle dating an attractive girl who could kick your ass without breaking a sweat.

  • USA Track Star Lolo Jones is Going to the Olympics – And She’s Easy on the Eyes

Lolo Jones finished the women’s 100-meter hurdles at the U.S. Track & Field Trials in third place with a time of 12:86, qualifying her for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London. After placing seventh in the women’s 100-meter hurdles at the 2008 Beijing Summer Games, Lolo over came spinal surgery and endured strenuous training to achieve her dream of competing for a second chance at a gold medal.

“It feels amazing,” said Lolo after the finals. “So many road blocks and people counting me out, but I just kept overcoming. I’m thrilled and honored to represent everybody out there fighting for a dream.”

Lolo’s microsurgery in August 2011 repaired a tethered spinal cord, which may have been the cause for clipping the ninth hurdle in Beijing in 2008. She has since been working with Red Bull’s “Project X” to analyze her technique and optimize the way she gets over hurdles. Jones placed first in the 50-meter hurdles this past January at the 2012 U.S. Open of Track & Field and remained focused and determined to secure her spot on Team U.S.A.

  • Lolo Jones: Olympic Twitter Sensation

29-year old Lolo Jones, who is almost as famous for her virginity as she is for her athletic savvy, is seeing a jump in popularity on her Twitter account lately for her witty tweets and charming interaction with fans.

The Olympic runner has talked publicly about her decision to wait until marriage to have sex (mostly because it seems that’s all anyone wants to talk about) and says it’s not an easy thing to do, but is the right decision for her. And while all that attention to her personal life might prove to be invasive, it’s the earnest way she engages people via social media that is earning her some appreciative looks from fans and companies alike. In fact, her Twitter account may get her some endorsement deals that will put her in the spotlight even more, much like her Olympic peer Michael Phelps.

As with anyone in the public eye, Jones’ sexual preferences are widely speculated on and judged, especially on Twitter, where anyone with an opinion can hide behind a computer screen. But Jones tends to answer questions and even harsh judgments with ease, mixing self-deprecation with intelligent comebacks, and that could account for the huge leap in the amount of her followers recently.

Here’s a quick sampling of her tweets. Watch for Jones in this summer’s London Olympics, which begin in July.

Happy with my first race in Top Three. I shouldn’t have helped Super Woman catch villains late last night… perhaps,I would’ve ran better.
