  • Kelly Ripa on Regis: “I Haven’t Seen Him”

Kelly Ripa on Regis: “I Haven’t Seen Him”

After Kelly Ripa took over Kathie Lee Gifford’s seat on the renamed Live! with Regis and Kelly, she spent ten years sitting next to Regis Philbin on the morning talk show. Despite the morning show couple’s memorable farewell in November 2011, it seems that Ripa never got personally close to Philbin.

Ripa reportedly told The Hollywood Reporter this week that she hasn’t seen her former co-host when asked if she kept in touch with Philbin. The comment was made at the publication’s celebration party for its ’35 Most Powerful People in Media’ issue. Ripa also compared Philbin to her new co-host, former New York Giants NFL star Michael Strahan, joking that “they’re both incredible football players.”

After Philbin retired, Ripa spent almost one year co-hosting Live! shows with a rotating cast of auditioning co-hosts, including Neil Patrick Harris, Jerry O’Connell, Joel McHale, Jerry Seinfeld, D.L. Hughley, Rob Lowe, and Mario Lopez before Strahan was chosen for the role.

Ripa attended The Hollywood Reporter’s event with her husband, actor Mark Consuelos. In addition to discussing co-hosts, Ripa and Consuelos bantered about whether former U.S. Congressman Anthony Weiner should make a run for mayor of New York City:

  • Kelly Ripa Co-Host: Seth Meyers Out, Anderson Cooper In?

It’s been an exhaustive nine months of searching for “Live! after Regis Philbin’s departure last November, but it looks to be drawing to a close soon. The producers have announced that they will be naming Kelly Ripa’s new co-host on September 4th.

Ripa has helmed the show with a whopping 59 guest hosts since Philbin took his leave, and some of those have filled in more than once. Seth Meyers of SNL and NFL star Michael Strahan are among those with the top appearances, and it’s been rumored for a while now that Meyers would be taking the permanent job of co-host. He shot down that talk, however, when asked about it last month.

“No, no, no, no, no,” he said. “I’m really in love with the job I have.”

While some fans have expressed that they want Ripa’s hunky husband, Mark Consuelos, to take the job, Ripa says her marriage wouldn’t withstand it. Word has it that the job will be given to someone who’s already hosted, which has started a wave of speculation, although one can narrow down the choices by leaving out the women who have stepped up over the past few months. It’s highly unlikely the producers would pair Ripa with another woman, banking instead on her ability to play off a member of the opposite sex. And although it’s not ultimately up to Ripa, she seems to have made her choice already: Anderson Cooper.

“We have a connection like nobody else,” she said. “I worship him!”

Cooper isn’t a likely choice, but the producers may surprise us come September 4th. The guests that day will be Claire Danes and “American Idol” winner Phillip Phillips.

  • Snooki Posts Make-Up Free Photo, Asks Kelly Ripa About Crap

Snooki fans who simply cannot get enough of the “Jersey Shore” star are having a banner week. Not only did Nicole Polizzi stop by “Live! With Kelly” to discuss pregnancy-related bowel movements, she also tweeted an image that featured her without a ton of makeup smeared across her face. If you’re obsessed with all things Snooki, then chances are you’re on the verge having your mind completely blown. I suppose there’s no shame in that, but don’t quote me.

Let’s start off with the pooping: Snooki recently stopped by the aforementioned morning talk show featuring the always-bubbly Kelly Ripa, who wasted no time in calling Polizzi out for lying to her about being pregnant. Whoops! Nicole admitted that she was a pretty good liar, claiming that she didn’t want to reveal any details about her condition to the public until she was at least three months pregnant. I suppose she has her reasons.

However, in order to turn the attention away from all of those televised falsehoods, Snooki decided to drop a bombshell question on poor Ripa, so to speak. “Did you poop?” she asked in regards to the childbirth.

Kelly, who didn’t miss a beat, replied, “No. I have never pooped ever.”

A television classic in the making.

Anyway, in a recent tweet to her legion of followers, Polizzi issued a photograph of herself without make-up, which makes me wonder why she bothers covering herself up in the first place. Honestly, Nicole looks so much better without the war paint, as evidenced by the photo positioned at the top of the screen. If Snooki really wants to shock audiences, she’ll do the rest of her stint on her latest television show sans make-up. I think she’ll be pleasantly surprised by the positive response she’ll receive as a result.

If you’re still hung up on Snooki asking Kelly Ripa about poop, then check out the video embedded below. It’s an amusing clip, for sure, especially for fans of scatological conversations.

  • Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos Won’t Join Forces for Live

Kelly Ripa and her former go-go dancer husband Mark Consuelos won’t team up for the morning chat show “Live! With Kelly”. According to OTRC, Ripa doesn’t feel that her marriage would survive if her husband permanently filled the vacancy left by Regis Philbin’s departure.

“No one would make me happier than Mark,” Ripa explained, “but he values our marriage and he says that he doesn’t see how we could stay married and both do that show.” At least they know their limits.

According to US Weekly, the producers of the program are eyeballing Josh Groban, Jerry O’Connell, and Nick Lachey. Personally, I think that Groban would be a perfect fit for the show. He’s funny, witty, and just an all-around cool guy. Rumors were swirling a few days ago that NFL star Michael Strahan was the front runner for the position.

The only thing that’s for sure right now is that Mark Consuelos won’t be a permanent addition to the show. If this story has been causing you perpetual grief and an endless stream of sleepless nights, let us know in the comments section. Otherwise, have a look at some Ripa-related tweets below. They’re more amusing than they really have any right to be.

  • Kelly Ripa Won’t Be Working With Her Husband On Show

“Live! With Kelly” has seen it’s share of hosts and co-hosts over the years since Kathie Lee Gifford left Regis Philbin holding the reins by himself; for quite a while before Kelly Ripa came on board, there was a rotating cast of celebrities sharing hosting duties.

Now that Philbin has left the show, it’s happening again, only Kelly is in the hotseat, auditioning potential co-hosts for the show’s future. Rumors have been circulating that Ripa had her husband, Mark Consuelos, in mind for the gig, but she quickly shot down the idea in the June issue of Vanity Fair, saying there’s no way it would ever happen.

“No one would make me happier than Mark, but he values our marriage and he says that he doesn’t see how we could stay married and both do that show,” she said.

Because Ripa has seen the show from both sides–the rookie and the vet–she knows how important the process is and that it can’t be rushed. A quick fix by her hubs wouldn’t work in the long run.

“We’ve just scratched the surface of people out there,” Michael Gelman, the show’s executive producer, said. “We have enjoyed a lot of people who have already co-hosted, and we’re bringing a bunch of them back for more ‘dates.”

While cast and crew say the show is very different–and sad–without Philbin there, it’s also been as much if not more successful since Kelly took over sole hosting duties, and the producers aren’t anxious to break the rapport Ripa has with the audience by bringing in someone new. Only time will tell who’ll get the coveted job, and for now, Ripa is enjoying the alone time with her fans.
