  • Christie Brinkley Launches Skincare Product Line

Christie Brinkley is launching a new line of anti-aging skincare products that will go on sale in March on HSN and at Kohl’s. The Christie Brinkley Authentic Skincare is a line of eight products designed to promote more youthful skin.

Brinkley said in a recent interview with Women’s Wear Daily that she considers herself quite fortunate to have such good skin at the age of 60. When she first debuted on the modeling scene she was actually encouraged to tan. She even encouraged it in her own book back in 1983.

“I was actually telling people how droplets of water would make them tan faster,” she admits today.

She always protected her face, however, and it’s clear by looking at her that the protection paid off. Her new products feature broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection as well as Bio-Copper Complex, which is a ‘proprietary ingredient that the pair claim will revitalize skin and offer protection from infrared solar rays.’

‘It was very important to me that we formulated something that, as much as is possible, protected against future sun damage,’ Ms Brinkley said.

Christie Brinkley is a vegan, and she insisted that the skincare collection be both vegan and sensitive to the environment. The glass packaging of the product line is beautiful in turquoise and amber. Her collection includes Recapture Day + IR Defense Anti-Aging Day Cream, which costs $69.95. Her Recapture 360 Night Anti-Aging Night Treatment costs the same. Complete Clarity Daily Facial Exfoliating Polish is $22.95, and along with the Complete Clarity Facial Cleansing Wash make up the least expensive products in the line. Yes, they’re more expensive than drug store skincare products, but they’re still not as costly as a line like Lancome.

Will you be checking out Christie Brinkley’s new skincare product line when it goes on sale at both HSN and Kohl’s this coming March? Her youthful, fresh face at the age of 60 is enough for many women to want to give these products a try.

  • Lupita Nyong’o: Oscar Winner is New Face of Lancome

The beautiful Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o, 31, is the new face of Lancome, joining Julia Roberts, Penelope Cruz and Kate Winslet in promoting the French company’s beauty products.

The 12 Years a Slave star is an obvious choice for the gig — she already turns heads wherever she goes with her mesmerizing beauty and style.

“What appealed to me about Lancome is that they’re not dictating what beauty is,” she told WWD. “What they do supports something that already is — and that was appealing to me, too. It’s what drew me to them. Hopefully it’s a symbiotic relationship — that I benefit from being associated with them, and they benefit from being associated with me, as well. And for the consumer at large, I think Lancome has a range of products for every woman, and I think having me will expand people’s understanding of, hopefully, what Lancome stands for, who Lancome is for.”

The 31-year-old Kenyan-Mexican actress said in a speech at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon in February that her darker complexion made her feel “unbeautiful” growing up.

“I put on the TV and only saw pale skin, I got teased and taunted about my night-shaded skin. And my one prayer to God, the miracle worker, was that I would wake up lighter-skinned,” she said.

She has a much different view of beauty today and embraces her own looks. But, more importantly, she says the light that comes from within is the true marker of beauty.

“I had to give a speech about beauty right before the Oscars,” she said, “and for me, beauty is a compassion for yourself and those around you. And I think that in focusing on that, the light inside illuminates the beauty outside. The idea that Lancôme now has a few actor ambassadors is significant because actors are not just faces, they are spirits that people enjoy and relate to more than in an aesthetic way. We have the privilege of standing for something other than just looks.”

Looking at tweets of the actress, it’s easy to see how that beautiful face might inspire the people at Lancome.

  • Lupita Nyong’o Becomes New Face of Lancôme

Lancôme lands a new beauty ambassador in the form of Oscar winning actress Lupita Nyong’o.

Since award season, Nyong’o has become a fashion icon for young women and girls by constantly picking bold fashion choices, including her blue Academy Awards’ dress. Therefore, her partnership with Lancôme seems like a fitting, and smart, next stage for her career.

On Women’s Wear Daily’s site, Nyong’o shared the reason behind teaming up with the beauty brand, “What they do supports something that already is — and that was appealing to me, too. It’s what drew me to them. Hopefully it’s a symbiotic relationship — that I benefit from being associated with them, and they benefit from being associated with me, as well. And for the consumer at large, I think Lancôme has a range of products for every woman, and I think having me will expand people’s understanding of, hopefully, what Lancôme stands for, who Lancôme is for.”

Currently, Lancôme has not announced which of their products Nyong’o will endorse, but her campaign sets to launch in September.

The Kenyan-Mexican actress also shared with WWD what beauty means to her.

“I had to give a speech about beauty right before the Oscars and for me, beauty is a compassion for yourself and those around you.

Additionally, Nyong’o talked about Alek Wek, her personal inspiration. “When she came on the scene, I felt more seen. Having me on a huge campaign like this will hopefully do that for other girls or people who feel unseen or underseen.”

Along with this announcement, Lancôme released an exclusive picture of Nyong’o’s upcoming campaign; she countered their post by publishing a mini-promotional video on her Instagram.

Nyong’o joins Lancôme’s other actress ambassadors Julia Roberts, Penélope Cruz, Kate Winslet, and Lily Collins.
