  • Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon Take Responsibility for Madoff Mess; Have Sex Anyway

Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon may seem like they lead charmed lives. He is somehow tied to every actor you will ever see by a maximum of six degrees, and she is married to Kevin Bacon.

In truth, things have not always gone easily for Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon. Even though they make lots of money in their acting careers, they experienced a scary period a few years ago when money they had invested disappeared. Sedgwick and Bacon, like many others, had trusted their money to Bernie Madoff. When Madoff’s financial scheme collapsed and he went to prison, they lost what Bacon only describes as “a lot of f—ing money”.

Bernie Madoff was arrested in December 2008 and pleaded guilty to 11 federal felonies in March 2009. He was sentenced to 150 years in jail.

Many times, when couples have financial trouble, the marriage and relationships get hit hard, fast. But Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon looked at things differently during that trying period.

“I don’t think there was a moment where it was like, that thing happened and then we got pissed at each other. It was sort of the opposite,” Kevin Bacon told GQ about how he and Sedgwick handled the problem. “We kind of went, ‘Holy s - - t. Let’s . . . I don’t know. Let’s have sex or something. It’s free!’”

What Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon realized is that they could recover.

“There were so many people who got hit so much harder than us,” Bacon said. “We knew we were going to have each other and our kids were OK. They were through school, almost. We both felt like we would work.”

Part of the reason Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon were able to handle their setback with aplomb is that they took responsibility for their part in the problem.

“Part of being a man is learning to take responsibility for your successes and for your failures,” Kevin Bacon says. “When things don’t go as well as I’d like, I don’t blame anyone else; it’s nobody’s fault but mine.”

Does that include the enormous amount of money he and Kyra Sedgwick lost to Bernie Madoff?

“Yes, I take full responsibility for that, too,” he says. “I made that investment; no one put a gun to my head. I was definitely angry. Angry at him, but also angry with myself, for not doing enough research, for trusting people that I shouldn’t have. It’s kind of a wake-up call. You have to learn from your experiences, whether they be emotional, or financial.”

Bacon is banking money now, thanks to his series The Following, while Kyra Sedgwick has a new series with Jennifer Beals called Proof.

  • Kyra Sedgwick’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine Promo Released

We got our first look yesterday at former Closer Kyra Sedgwick playing Deputy Chief Madeline Wuntch in the sophomore police comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

The 49-year-old actress makes her return to the small screen in a two-episode arc. Wuntch is a long-time arch-rival of Captain Holt (Andre Braugher.) And not only does she outrank him, but Wuntch also has plans to take down the Deputy and his entire squad.

Executive Producer Dan Goor said, “Kyra brings so much presence and gravitas to the role — exactly the traits needed to stand off against Andre Braugher. And she pitched one of the funniest flashbacks that we’ve ever done!”

The first look picture released by TV Guide on Thursday features Sedgwick staring down Braugher. She may be small, but she looks pretty tough.

Sedgwick starred in The Closer as Deputy Police Chief Brenda Johnson for seven seasons. The TNT cable show ended in 2012. Deputy Johnson was the head of the Priority Homicide Division of the LAPD. She had the incredible ability to read people in order to get confessions and solve cases. Sedgwick won a Golden Globe Award in 2007 and an Emmy Award in 2010 for her role as Johnson.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine will return for its second season on September 28. The premiere season of the Andy Samberg comedy was a success for Fox. The show won a Golden Globe in 2014 for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy. Also, Andy Samberg took home a Golden Globe for Best Actor – Television Series Musical or Comedy.

Sedgwick’s two-episode arc on Brooklyn Nine-Nine is scheduled to air on October 5.

  • Kyra Sedgwick Is Returning To TV

Kyra Sedgwick is slated to fill a guest roll on Fox’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine in the upcoming season.

She is currently signed for two episodes. The former The Closer star will play Madeline Wuntch, a long-time rival of Captain Holt, played by Andre Braugher.

Their rivalry between Kyra Sedgwick’s character and Andre Braugher’s is fierce and goes back to their early days at the NYPD. Sedgwick is in a higher position as Deputy Chief (just like her character on The Closer) than that of Braugher’s character, Captain Holt.

Kyra Sedgwick’s character is hoping to take him down in her inspection of his precinct.

    Executive producer Dan Goor

The show is incredibly popular and even won a Golden Globe this year. Star of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Andy Samberg, also brought home a Golden Globe. Kyra Sedgwick won an Emmy for her role in The Closer in 2010 and a Golden Globe in 2007. She has been nominated numerous times for both Emmys and Golden Globes.

This season should be especially exciting with Kyra Sedgwick joining the cast. Andre Braugher describes where this season will begin:

“The brash young Detective Peralta returns from his undercover duty hoping that the squad and everything will still remain the same, and in the course of his undercover work, the NYPD has gotten a new commissioner,” Braugher said. “So things are radically changing and Holt is on the cutting edge of this. So the old, stodgy captain wants everything to change and the young, brash detective wants everything to stay the same.”

This will be Kyra Sedgwick’s first TV role since The Closer ended in 2012. She is sure to be a spectacular addition to Brooklyn Nine-Nine!

Brooklyn Nine-Nine will air Sundays at 8:30 pm on Fox.

Sedgwick starred in The Closer as Deputy Johnson for seven seasons. The TNT cable show went off the air in 2012. Johnson was in charge of the Priority Homicide Division of the LAPD and had an uncanny ability to read people in order to get confessions and help solve cases. • Jennifer Beals To Make Her Return To Television

There seems to be a new show announced almost every day lately, and the latest star to receive a new show is Jennifer Beals. She is an actress that has enjoyed time in both film and television, and will be returning to TV after several years of being away from the medium.

Jennifer Beals is set to be the star of a new show on TNT, and it will be a supernatural medical show called Proof. She will play Dr. Kathryn Russo, a skeptical, hard-science, brilliant female surgeon with a caustic edge who has been struggling with the devastating loss of her teenage son and a growing estrangement from her surviving daughter.

Proof will also have a supernatural element to it, and her character is someone who is persuaded to investigate cases of reincarnation, out-of-body experiences, and other mysterious events. Throughout, she will be looking for verifiable proof to answer one of life’s greatest questions: Is death truly the end, or is there something else beyond?

The show will be executive produced by Kyra Sedgwick, who has plenty of experience with the TNT network after her hit drama The Closer, which ran from 2005 until 2012. It will be written by Rob Bragin, and directed by Alex Graves.

  • Sosie Bacon, Daughter Of Kevin Bacon, Was This Year’s Miss Golden Globe

This year’s Miss Golden Globe was Sosie Bacon. Miss Bacon is the daughter of Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick and is an aspiring actress.  Her job as Miss Golden Globe was to help hand out awards during the annual ceremony — a job she executed quite well on Sunday night.

For those who do not understand what being Miss Golden Globe is all about, the honorary title is bestowed upon a hand-picked Hollywood heir who has aspirations in the acting business. Bacon, 21, has appeared in a number of TV shows including her mom’s TV show “The Closer” (2009) and her Dad’s movie “Loverboy” (2005), among other projects.

Sosie Bacon said her parents were really excited that she is this year’s honoree. She said they have been very supportive of her budding acting career.

“I’m starting to act myself … they’re excited for me to come out as my own person,” she told Today.

Each year, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association interviews contenders about their goals and aspirations. The interviews give the young actors a chance to meet the industry insiders and gain critical exposure.

The tradition of Miss or Mister Golden Globe dates back to 1963, when actress Eva Six became the first Miss Golden Globe. Since then, many of the honorees have gone on to have successful Hollywood careers of their own. Some of them include Melanie Griffith-1975, Laura Dern-1982 and Freddie Prinze-1996.

  • Sosie Bacon Survives Fears at Golden Globes

Sosie Bacon initially feared she might trip when she went on stage as Miss Golden Globe at Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards–a la Jennifer Lawrence at last year’s Oscars–but that never happened. In fact, the 21-year-old likely made her parents–Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick–very proud.

“That’s my biggest fear…I’m so bad at walking in heels. Clumsy is an understatement. I trip all the time,” she said during an interview prior to the show.

So besides having famous parents, exactly who is Sosie Bacon? She is actually following in her parent’s footsteps as an actor. She appeared in a 2005 film called Loverboy and she even appeared on her mom’s former hit show The Closer.

Sosie is a college student. She will graduate from Brown University in 2014 and she belongs to a theater company in New York City called CAP21. Kristen Bell, Lady Gaga and Anne Hathaway are just three notables who are CAP21 alumni.

Being Miss Golden Globe was definitely a high point of Sosie Bacon’s New Year. She took to Twitter to share some of the exciting highlights with her followers–both during and after the big event.

Do you think being Miss Golden Globe will in any way boost Sosie’s career? When Michael J. Fox’s son was the subject of a Tina Fey jab during his stint on the Golden Globes–she told Taylor Swift to stay away from him–he was googled like crazy for the next couple of days. Between her education, her list of prior acting gigs and her good acting genes, it’s pretty likely the world will be seeing a lot more of Sosie Bacon.

  • Kyra Sedgwick: Daughter Miss Golden Globe

Kyra Sedgwick: Daughter Miss Golden Globe

Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon’s daughter, Sosie Bacon, has been named Miss Golden Globe 2014. The title comes with duties, and isn’t simply indicative of a pretty face. Typically the daughter of Hollywood celebrities, Miss Golden Globe assists in various ways with the actual Golden Globes ceremony.

The outgoing 2013 Miss Golden Globe is Francesca Eastwood. Her famous parents are the now-estranged Clint Eastwood and Frances Fisher. Past recipients include Sam Fox (son of Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan–he must have been a Mr. Golden Globe?), Rainey Qualley (daughter of Andie MacDowell), Gia Mantegna (daughter of Joe Mantegna) and Rumer Willis (daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis).

Sosie Bacon got word of her new title on Thursday at the West Hollywood restaurant Fig and Olive.

“I’ve been to the Golden Globes once before and it was such fun,” she says. “I was about 16 years old and I went with my mother the year she won. My parents have always had such a good relationship with the HFPA and the Golden Globes, so they are very supportive of me being Miss Golden Globe. I think the HFPA is a great organization and does so much charity work, which is something I’ve been involved in too. Also, I love the fact that it supports both television and film, which most award shows don’t do.”

The aspiring actress has enjoyed a rather busy lifestyle recently as she actively pursues roles.

“I’m really looking forward to the next few months. I go back and forth between New York and L.A. and I’ve been auditioning pretty much non-stop…dramatic roles, some comedy…everything,” she says.

Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick will have to make sure Sosie makes time for the interviews she will need to do between now and January in preparation for her role as Miss Golden Globe. They must be incredibly proud of their daughter and excited about this new honor the Hollywood Foreign Press has bestowed upon her.

  • Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon’s Daughter, Sosie, Named Miss Golden Globe 2014

On Thursday evening, The Golden Globe held its 71st ceremony at the West Hollywood Restaurant Fig and Olive, in which Miss Golden Globe 2014 was awarded to a special honoree.

Sosie Bacon, the daughter of Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon, was the recipient of the role.

Sosie’s father was infamous for his role in the 1984 film, “Foot Loose,” making him a very admired pop-culture icon. However, Sedgwick is currently the star of “The Closer,” which won her an Emmy award as the best lead actress in a drama series.

“As we all know, she comes from a very talented family and this gets us one degree closer to Kevin Bacon,” said HFPA President Theo Kingma.

Sedgwick went on Twitter Thursday to express her excitement for her daughter.

Every year, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association crowns the son and daughter of well-known celebrities for a special duty. Those selected assist in handing out awards.

This year’s Mr. Golden Globe, Sam, is the son of Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan. He will be standing alongside Sosie in the ceremony events.

According to Sosie, the nomination process consists of a simple interview.

“They just ask if you want to do it and then I met with the [Hollywood Foreign Press Association]. We had a nice meeting — they asked me some questions about myself, like a job interview, sorta. Pretty painless,” Bacon said in a Q&A with the Hollywood Reporter.

In a statement to Fox News, the 21-year-old aspiring actress expressed her humble acceptance.

“As a young actress who is just beginning my career, it is truly an honor to be a part of such a special night in film and television,” she said.

Sosie has been featured in movies and TV series with her parents such as playing the niece of her mother in “The Closer.”

Last year’s honoree was the daughter of Clint Eastwood and Frances Fisher, Francesca Eastwood.

The ceremony will air January 12 on NBC at 8 p.m.

Here is an interview with Sosie by EntertainmentTV’s affiliated media outlet, PopSugar:

  • Sosie Bacon, Kevin Bacon’s Daughter, Named Miss Golden Globe 2014

Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick’s daughter, Sosie Bacon has been named Miss Golden Globe for the 2014 edition of the popular awards show.

The role of Miss Golden Globe is given to a different celebrity’s daughter each year, and during the broadcast they are presented to the audience.

As Miss Golden Globe, Sosie Bacon will be able to stand on the stage throughout the broadcast, and meet a lot of the people that are winning, and presenting the awards to people.

She is 21-years-old, and as the daughter to Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick, she certainly is no stranger to the award shows.

Everyone planning to watch the show can get excited to see Amy Poehler and Tina Fey hosting once again, and Sosie excited to meet them both.

While Sosie says that she is most excited to meet Claire Danes, citing her love for Homeland, she also says “I’m most excited about watching Amy Poehler and Tina Fey. I watched them last year, I couldn’t stop laughing. I think its going to be awkward.”

Both of Sosie Bacon’s parents have won Golden Globes in the past, and she follows in the footsteps of some people that have gone on to become celebrities in their own right, such as Melanie Griffith and Laura Dern. Last year’s Miss Golden Globe was Clint Eastwood’s daughter, Francesca Eastwood.

The news was announced by the Hollywood Foreign Press, the organization who puts on the Golden Globes. Upon hearing the news, Sosie Bacon said “I’ve been to the Golden Globes once before and it was such fun. I was about 16 years old and I went with my mother the year she won. My parents have always had such a good relationship with the HFPA and the Golden Globes, so they are very supportive of me being Miss Golden Globe.”

Theo Kingma, president of the HFPA, said that the tradition of Mr. and Miss Golden Globe was started 50 years ago when it was decided that the son or daughter of established actors should be on stage to assist with the Golden Globe presentations.

Sosie Bacon has had some acting experience already, but never in a starring role. She appeared in Loverboy when she was only 10, a film that her mother starred in, and Bacon directed. Since then, she has appeared in a few episodes of The Closer, and joined the off-Broadway musical, Fiction In Photographs.

Sosie Bacon is clearly excited about the role of being Miss Golden Globe, and as actors who have been to the show many times, her parents are very proud of her.

  • Kyra Sedgwick Cut Off The Tip Of Her Finger This Weekend

Kyra Sedgwick, star of “The Closer”, cut off the tip of her finger on Saturday while preparing dinner.

The 47-year old actress was caught on camera in the emergency room by her husband, actor Kevin Bacon, looking decidedly unhappy as she held her hand in a bandage. Bacon tweeted the photos to his followers, saying, “Kale isn’t always healthy … if you chop the end of your finger off”.

Sedgwick is recuperating, although she has to wear a giant bandage on her index finger. No details have been reported as to how many stitches she received or whether she’ll have to have surgery.

The actress had to say goodbye to the character she brought to life on “The Closer”–Brenda Leigh Johnson–last year after seven years on the show. Sedgwick was nominated for four Emmy Awards and won one, and said at the close of the series that she would miss Brenda.

“I admire her a great deal,” Sedgwick said about her character. “I admire her tenacity. I admire her number-one focus being the people that are gone and who can no longer speak for themselves. I’ll miss her complexities and her flaws.”

  • Kyra Sedgwick Says Goodbye To “The Closer”

Kyra Sedgwick Says Goodbye To “The Closer”

Kyra Sedgwick has inhabited the role of Brenda Leigh Johnson for seven years now. She moved her family from New York to L.A. to focus on the show that would give her career a sudden boost; she’s been nominated for four Emmys (and won one), given credit for propelling a “groundbreaking” show into extraordinarily high ratings, and found a tightly-knit group of friends in the cast and crew of “The Closer”. Fans, therefore, might be surprised to know that she almost didn’t take the role.

“My manager told me about it for three months, and I said: “Don’t send it. I’m not going to do it because it’s in L.A.,” she said.

It was her husband, iconic actor Kevin Bacon, who talked her into taking a leap for the show. Also, she says, her children had been her main priority, but they were getting older. It was the perfect time to take a big step in her career. That step would lead to seven years of hard work in a role she felt close to; Brenda is a strong, ballsy woman in her 40’s, much like Kyra herself.

“I admire her a great deal,” Sedgwick says about her character. “I admire her tenacity. I admire her number-one focus being the people that are gone and who can no longer speak for themselves. I’ll miss her complexities and her flaws.”

The past season has been full of surprises and sadness for Brenda and her fans, and Sedgwick says she doubts anyone will be disappointed by the series finale, which airs tonight. The last episode will see her tangle with longtime enemy Philip Stroh, which should be interesting.

  • Kyra Sedgwick Speaks Out Against Bernie Madoff

Kyra Sedgwick is angry. The star of the popular television series “The Closer”, as well as the co-star of several major Hollywood, watched helplessly as her husband, actor Kevin Bacon, lost a remarkable amount of money to convicted conman Bernie Madoff. The Ponzi scheme robbed Bacon of quite a bit of cash, which has understandably irritated his wife. Big time. However, during a recent interview with Piers Morgan, the “Something to Talk About” star explained how she’s attempted to keep the whole ordeal in perspective.

“I see him (Madoff) as a sick man. And I see us as adults who made a choice. And I see a lot of people who are so much worse off than we are, and I think that s**t happens,” Sedgwick explained.

In addition to Bacon, Madoff snatched large sums of money from other notable celebrities, as well. Counted amongst the con artist’s victims are filmmaker Steven Spielberg, actor John Malkovich, actress Zsa Zsa Gabor, and Larry King. If you’re curious to see just how many people Madoff managed to swindle out of their cash, take a look at the complete list of victims. If nothing else, the guy was certainly prolific.

Although Sedgwick has every right to be angry about the situation, she has kept a fairly level head regarding Madoff’s antics. When Morgan asked if Sedgwick would plant a bullet in his skull if given half the chance, the actress provided an insightful alternative. “He has a horrible life at this point. I think you (the media) hate him more than we do.”

In 2009, Bernie Madoff pled guilty to 11 charges of fraud, including securities fraud, wire fraud, mail fraud, money laundering, making false statements, perjury, theft from an employee benefit plan, and making false filings with the SEC. Over several years, Madoff manage to swindle $65 billion from his clients in what many have labeled the largest Ponzi scheme in history. He’s currently serving a 150-year prison sentence.
