  • Melissa McCarthy Hilarious in First All-Female “Ghostbusters” Trailer

Melissa McCarthy is beyond funny, as are Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig, and Leslie Jones in the first trailer released for the upcoming all-female remake of Ghostbusters.

The clip affords fans an initial peek at the paranormal team comprised of Melissa McCarthy and her cohorts as they embark on their “ghostbusting” duties.

Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig first thrilled fans with their comedy in the film Bridesmaids. Wiig is an SNL alum, while Jones and McKinnon are current members of the Saturday Night Live cast.

Ever since the idea of an all-female Ghostbusters hit the media, fans of the original, as well as fans of these ladies have been excited for its release. While that’s still a while off, this first trailer assures them their anticipation will be well worth the wait.

Are you a fan of Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon?

If so, you’re no doubt among those eagerly awaiting the July 15 network premiere of the all-female Ghostbusters.

  • Kristen Wiig and Others Talk Hollywood Gender Problem

Kristen Wiig, Julie Delpy, Anjelica Huston, and many others will appear in The 4%: Film’s Gender Problem, which will debut on Epix next week.

Announced in January, the original series of six documentaries will debut on March 8, which is International Women’s Day. It explores the issues around the gender gap in Hollywood and spotlights directors and creative personalities, who share first-person insights and anecdotes about the role of women in Hollywood.

For Kristen Wiig, the subject is particularly timely as this week saw the debut of the trailer of the upcoming Ghostbusters movie, which stars Wiig along with Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones as the new generation of Ghostbusters.

While many expressed glee with the trailer’s release and are excited about the film, there is a terrible number of people on social media expressing varying degrees of sexism, misogyny and contempt for the idea that the new Ghostbusters are women.

It’s unclear if Internet vitriol and misogyny will be among the topics discussed in The 4%, but it will definitely cover the opportunities women are given behind the camera.

“It shouldn’t be seen as such a crazy thing if a woman, you know, is nominated for an Academy Award for directing,” Wiig says in the below clip.

The 4% is produced by Jigsaw Productions, which is known for titles like Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief, Steve Jobs: The Man in the Machine, Taxi To the Darkside, and Enron: Smartest Men In the Room.

Participants in the series include: Kristen Wiig, Judd Apatow, Joe Arcidiacono, Lake Bell, Amy Berg, Patricia Clarkson, Toni Collette, Jonathan Dayton, Julie Delpy, Valerie Faris, Paul Feig, America Ferrera, James Franco, Donna Gigliotti, Geoffrey Gilmore, Debra Granik, Catherine Hardwicke, Mary Harron, Amy Heckerling, Dawn Hudson, Anjelica Huston, Vicky Jenson, Sam Taylor-Johnson, Rebecca Keegan, Jon Kilik, Ellen Kuras, Mimi Leder, Franklin Leonard, Tina Mabry, Victoria Mahoney, Michael Mann, Lori McCreary, Mo’Nique, Michael Moore, Rachel Morrison, Mira Nair, Amanda Peet, Kimberly Peirce, Keri Putnam, Pamela Romanowsky, Cathy Schulman, A.O. Scott, Melissa Silverstein, Dr. Stacy L. Smith, Jill Soloway, Anne Sweeney, Amber Tamblyn, Anne Thompson, Rosemarie Troche, Christine Vachon, and Mandy Walker.

  • Kristen Wiig as Peyton Manning? Priceless

Kristen Wiig as Peyton Manning? Priceless

Kristen Wiig appeared on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon on Thursday night and did a stellar Peyton Manning impersonation. The SNL alum, known for roles in hilarious films including Bridesmaids and Zoolander 2, nailed the impression.

Wearing a Denver Broncos uniform, Kristen Wiig–as Peyton Manning–was a little off on her details of the big game, but that didn’t mar her performance in the least.

“It was 14-6…in my mind,” she said of the Super Bowl 50 score.

Kristen Wiig also fumbled her way over her critique of the Super Bowl MPV, who was Peyton Manning’s teammate Von Miller.

“He didn’t do anything wrong the whole game,” she said. “I was like, ‘I’m so proud of you, just go out tonight. Have a good time.”

In addition to not acing her football-themed interview, Kristen Wiig also proved she wasn’t much for playing the sport, as she threw a golden football, much to the chagrin of anyone in the audience–or at home, too–who could at least throw a football.

Are you a Kristen Wiig fan? Did you catch her alongside Jimmy Fallon on Thursday night, in her hilarious role as Peyton Manning?

  • Kristen Wiig, Chris Hemsworth Featured in First Photos from Upcoming “Ghostbusters” Reboot

Kristen Wiig and Chris Hemsworth appear in the first photos to emerge from the set of the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot. Featured on the film’s website, Hemsworth plays the role of Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon’s receptionist.

The reboot wrapped filming over the summer. Chris Hemsworth told Entertainment Weekly at the time that he “had a blast,” and “has never laughed so much.”

The first full trailer for Ghostbusters is set to air around the end of February.

The film is scheduled to hit theaters.

Fans who miss seeing Kristen Wiig on SNL are no doubt thrilled to known she will soon appear on the big screen.

Were you a fan of the original Ghostbusters? What’s your take on the reboot starring Melissa McCarthy, Chris Hemsworth, Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig, and Leslie Jones?

  • Kristin Wiig ‘Bummed Out’ By Sexist Comments About All-Female Ghostbusters Movie

With all the talk about how there should be more roles for women in Hollywood, one would think that making all-female or female-led versions of certain male-dominated films would be a brilliant idea that everybody could be behind.

That’s why the recent backlash against the movie came as a surprise to funnywoman Kristen Wiig – like many people in the film industry, the SNL alum thought that the move to reprise the ‘80s cult classic with an all-female cast would generate positive feedback from a public that’s been clamoring for gender equality in film and television.

The movie, which has started production and is set to be released in 2016, stars Wiig, Bridesmaids co-star Melissa McCarthy as well as SNL cast mates Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. With the immense success of Bridesmaids, Wiig said she was “bummed out” by the degree of negative attention that it has garnered especially on the Internet.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Wiig said, “The fact there was so much controversy because we were women was surprising to me.”

Apparently, an online campaign against the female-led remake has been launched by individuals who claim to be avid fans of the original film.

“Some people said some really not nice things about the fact that there were women,” Wiig added.

Even Bridesmaids director Paul Feig was not spared from the backlash. When he sat down with the Hollywood Reporter in March, he said that he was appalled at the hostility directed at him on social media soon after the film announcement was made.

In his words, the reactions he got were “some of the most vile, misogynistic shit I’ve ever seen in my life”.

There’s good news, though, for Ghostbusters purists. Joining Kristen Wiig and the gang in the film are some of the original cast members including Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Annie Potts, and Sigourney Weaver.

  • Kristen Wiig And Other Female “Ghostbusters” Cast Members Visit Children’s Hospital

Kristen Wiig and her Ghostbusters co-stars took a break from filming on Saturday to visit some sick kids in a children’s hospital.

While filming their Ghostbusters reboot in Boston, Kristen Wiig and co-stars Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon and Melissa McCarthy noticed a sign in the window of nearby Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center that read, “Who ya gonna call?”

Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon and Melissa McCarthy answered the call in full ghostbusting gear, to the thrill of all the patients.

Kristen Wiig and the gang showed up with proton packs and ghost traps and met their little fans (and big fans), taking pictures and generally brightening everyone’s day.

They also spent time scanning for ghosts, checking under beds, and making sure the hospital was clear.

Even the staff was excited to host Kristen Wiig and her crew.

Brooke Hynes, vice president of public affairs and communications for Tufts Medical Center, said, “They were a true delight to have today.”

She added, “They were so kind to all the kids and their parents. They took their time in each room visiting children as young as a few months to teens. We cannot thank them enough for the happiness and excitement they created.”

  • Kristen Wiig Singing Stuns Audience in New Show [Video]

Kristen Wiig is one of the most daring actresses today. Not content to be pigeon-holed as simply an SNL-alum “comedienne,” she has taken her absurd comic talent into territory that starts to feel downright serious.

Wiig baffled onlookers when she and Will Ferrell starred in a Lifetime movie recently called A Deadly Adoption that almost everyone was sure was a spoof of the usual Lifetime fare. Wiig denies that it was.

“No, it wasn’t a parody at all. I think people assumed it was [a comedy] because Will and I were in it, but it wasn’t. Well, I guess you can call it a mislabeling. I thought it was great, I was very happy with it and we had a lot of fun making it, but the goal was never to make a parody.”

Kristen Wiig stars in the currently-airing IFC mini-series The Spoils Before Dying. The show is the brainchild of Matt Piedmont and Andrew Steele, who also brought us The Spoils of Babylon, its IFC predecessor.

In The Spoils Before Dying, Michael Kenneth Williams (“Here comes Omar!) stars as Rock Banyon, a 1950’s jazz pianist-turned-private eye. Kristen Wiig is Delores O’Dell, a music hall chanteuse. Will Ferrell narrates as the “author” of the show.

But the shock of the series so far came when Kristen Wiig was called upon to sing a number called “Booze and Pills” in a smoky club.

Splitsider asked the show’s creators about Wiig’s performance.

I’ve gotta be honest,” Andrew Steele said, “it shocked us too. And by the way, that song was hardly worked out. She hardly had any time to rehearse it. She walked into a booth, sang it, and improv’d the end of it, in key, in front of us. We were literally blown away.”

    Literally?

Matt Piedmont teased more to come from Wiig, “And she sings another song in a later episode that I think is even a better song, and she’s even more skilled at it. And I won’t spoil it, but she has another skill as well you’ll be maybe shocked to know that she has. But she’s a brilliant singer and she nailed two songs in an afternoon, and it’s like a revelation. Like Steele said, we both knew that she couldn’t be more talented, but the fact that she literally came in there and nailed a very complicated jazzy song right away was a miracle.”

  • Kristen Wiig Talks “Ghostbusters”, Says Lifetime Movie Is Not A Parody

Kristen Wiig is on board the upcoming reboot of Ghostbusters, and while she and her female co-stars are getting a largely positive response from fans, there are those who are fiercely loyal to the original and don’t want to see it remade at all. Kristen says she hasn’t been paying attention to the negativity, though, because she’s too busy having fun on set.

The movie–which will premiere next year–also stars Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth and is being co-written by Dan Aykroyd, and Wiig said recently that she’s having a blast a couple of weeks into shooting.

“It’s been so great working with everyone so far. So, so fun,” Kristen said. “I don’t know what people were saying, good or bad, because I don’t go online and read those sorts of things. I know I’m excited by the fact it’s an all-female cast, and from what little I do know, it seems like people are being supportive about it. Beyond that, I try not to pay attention.”

Kristen Wiig also spoke about the fact that the reboot is a female-driven movie, which is hard to come by in Hollywood these days and has been heavily hyped in the media. For her, it’s not about whether the stars are male or female, as long as it’s a good film, and that idea will likely resonate with many of her fans.

“I still think we have a long way to go, but at some point it shouldn’t matter if a movie is female-driven or male-driven — what should matter is if it’s good,” Wiig said.

Speaking of good films, Wiig also spoke about the Lifetime original movie she made with Will Ferrell–A Deadly Adoption–and said that she believes it might have been “mislabeled” due to the fact that she and Will are such big names in comedy. Kristen says it was never meant to be a parody of Lifetime movies, which many fans might have assumed. Of course, it’s not always easy to tell when she’s being straightforward and when she’s showing off that wry sense of humor, so anything is possible.

“I think people assumed it was a comedy because Will and I were in it, but it wasn’t…I guess you can call it a mislabeling. I thought it was great, I was very happy with it and we had a lot of fun making it, but the goal was never to make a parody,” Kristen Wiig said.

  • Kristen Wiig, Will Ferrell to Star in Lifetime Parody Film, ‘A Deadly Adoption’

Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell are set to star in a Lifetime parody film to honor the 25th anniversary of Lifetime TV movies. A Deadly Adoption will air on June 20th. Ferrell had viewers believing the project had been scrapped.

News of the upcoming parody hit the media back in April, but Will Ferrell quickly announced that because word had leaked, the project was shut down. He blamed the internet.

“We are deeply disappointed that our planned top secret project was made public,” he said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly. “Kristen and I have decided it is in the best interest for everyone to forego the project entirely, and we thank Lifetime and all the people who were ready to help us make this film.”

That was apparently nothing but a big joke on Will Ferrell’s part, and Kristen Wiig went along with it, never admitting to the media that the show would still go on.

The two-hour long Lifetime movie stars the SNL alum duo as a couple who both houses and cares for a pregnant woman in hopes of adopting her baby. In keeping with the tradition of all Lifetime films–and hyping the parody–things quickly go awry.

Jessica Lowndes, known for her role on CW’s 90210 also stars in the film.

Early reviews for A Deadly Adoption say it is ‘campy’ and ‘fun.’ That sounds about right for both Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell.

Kristen Wiig has starred in several films since her time on Saturday Night Live, including Bridesmaids and The Skeleton Twins. Will Ferrell is best known for his roles in Elf, Anchorman, and Anchorman 2, since his SNL days.

Will you be tuning in to the Lifetime channel on June 20th to see Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig in A Deadly Adoption?

  • Jessica Lowndes Shows Up In Lifetime Movie Poster With Kristen Wiig

Jessica Lowndes, Kristen Wiig, and Will Ferrell have appeared on a newly-released poster for A Deadly Adoption, a Lifetime movie that gives a nod to its predecessors while winking at them.

Wiig and Ferrell will reportedly play a couple who plan on adopting a young woman’s unborn child, with apparently dangerous results. The movie has been hinted at several times in recent months but it was unclear whether it would really happen or not. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film will air on Lifetime on Saturday, June 20 in celebration of the network’s 25th anniversary.

Ferrell told the press in April that the movie was never going to happen after news of it leaked, saying he was disappointed because the hope was to keep it a secret until closer to the air date.

“We are deeply disappointed that our planned top secret project was made public. Kristen and I have decided it is in the best interest for everyone to forego the project entirely, and we thank Lifetime and all the people who were ready to help us make this film,” he told Entertainment Weekly.

While Lifetime hasn’t made an official announcement, a giant billboard was spotted this week that featured the poster, sending fans into a flutter on the web.

  • Kristen Wiig And Will Ferrell Team Up To Make A Lifetime Movie — ‘A Deadly Adoption’

It might sound like an April Fools’ joke but it’s apparently true that Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig have indeed teamed up for a Lifetime movie.

The Saturday Night Live alums are starring in the dramatic thriller called A Deadly Adoption.  This top-secret TV movie is a campy homage to the dramatic thriller genre that is a hallmark of the Lifetime network.

A Deadly Adoption is about a couple who’re apparently successful in all aspects of their lives, except in their ability to have children. They take care of a pregnant woman, played by 90210’s Jessica Lowndes, in the hopes of adopting her unborn child.

Of course, in typical Lifetime fashion, the situation goes horribly, maybe even humorously, awry.

Filming for the 2-hour TV movie has already wrapped up and it’s executively produced by Andrew McKay and Ferrell through their Gary Sanchez Productions. It’s also like an SNL reunion of sorts for Ferrell, Wiig and writer Andrew Steele who all worked together on IFC’s The Spoils of Babylon. The movie is directed by Lifetime regular Rachel Lee Goldenberg, who’s known for helming Escape from Polygamy and Love at the Christmas Table.

A Deadly Adoption is tentatively slated for a summer release and will be part of Lifetime’s 25th anniversary. The American cable and satellite TV channel was established in 1984 and is known for featuring programs aimed toward women and which almost always feature women in leading roles.

The movie is a wonderful coup for the network and would undoubtedly fit in well with other titles like A Deadly Love, Baby for Sale or A Face to Die For. While there’s still no release date set for A Deadly Adoption, it’s almost a certainty that fans of Kristen Wigg and Will Ferrell and other SNL enthusiasts will be rubbing shoulders with Lifetime ladies at viewing parties all across the US.

  • Maddie Ziegler, Kristen Wiig Steal The Show At Grammys

Maddie Ziegler has been having a moment.

The 12-year old dance star first found success on the reality show Dance Moms, but things really blew up when singer Sia recruited her for her video “Elastic Heart”. Aside from numerous dancing, acting, and modeling jobs in the months since, she’s also the star of Sia’s new video “Chandelier”, which she performed live at this year’s Grammy Awards with none other than…Kristen Wiig?

It’s true. The Saturday Night Live alum donned a platinum wig and nude leotard to perform an interpretive dance with Maddie while Sia sang the song facing away from the audience, something she’s known for. Maddie and Kristen jumped around a set onstage, looking like one another’s doppleganger in their matching wigs, and today the performance is getting quite a bit of buzz.

Sam Smith may have walked away with most of the awards on Sunday night, but it’s likely not a big deal to Sia, who has made it clear in the past that she doesn’t care that much about fame and accolades. Over the years, she’s declined to stay in the spotlight too long and has hidden her face for many performances because she doesn’t want to sacrifice her personal life just to be famous.

“I don’t want to be famous, or recognizable. I don’t want to be critiqued about the way that I look on the Internet. I’ve been writing pop songs for pop stars for a couple years and see what their lives are like and that’s just not something I want,” Sia told ABC News.

Maddie Ziegler and Shia LaBeouf made headlines when “Elastic Heart” was released, as the two of them performed in the video together, prompting worry that there were undertones of pedophilia. However, according to several interviews Maddie has given, that was such a non-issue that all she was worried about was how dirty her costume was.

Maddie said recently that the fame has been surreal, especially when she meets celebrities who know who she is.

It’s changed in so many different ways. I mean, now celebrities know who I am. When I saw Miley Cyrus and J.Lo (on the red carpet at the VMAs) I was like, “Hi, um, I’m Maddie, I don’t know if you know me, I’m in the Sia video.” They’re like, “We’ve seen it.” And I was like, Whoa, that is cool. Because, you know, I’m just a girl that lives in Pittsburgh. It’s not a big deal at all,” she told Cosmopolitan.

  • Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, More Star in All-Female ‘Ghostbusters’

Kristen Wiig will join will fellow actresses Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones in comprising the all-female cast of the upcoming remake of Ghostbusters. Sony Pictures is set to release the film in July of 2016.

Director Paul Feig announced his stars by posting their photos on Twitter on Tuesday. The new film will update the original Ghostbusters from 1984, as well as the sequel from 1989.

Kristen Wiig is, of course, a Saturday Night Live alumni, and both Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones are part of the current SNL cast. Wiig and McCarthy starred together in the hilarious blockbuster hit Bridesmaids–also directed by Paul Feig.

The reboot of Ghostbusters has long been in the works, with the initial plan of having the original cast–Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson, and Bill Murray. Aykroyd, Ramis, and Hudson had agreed to reprise their characters, but Bill Murray proved elusive, eventually saying he loved the idea of an all-female cast instead. Harold Ramis passed away last year.

Ghostbusters has certainly capitalized on some of the funniest women in comedy by casting Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones. The broad expanse of personalities alone suggests that while humor will prevail, these won’t be cookie cutter roles.

Filming is expected to begin on Ghostbusters this coming summer in New York City. So if there’s something strange in your neighborhood, who are you going to call?

You can start with Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones.

Will you be counting the months until July 2016?

  • Mindy Kaling Joins Lena Dunham, Kristen Wiig And Jenji Kohan At Sundance Panel

On Saturday, the Sundance Film Festival organized a panel called “Power of Story: Serious Ladies”. The panel is comprised of four of the top female creators in the industry today: Mindy Kaling of The Mindy Project, Girls’ Lena Dunham, Orange is the New Black mastermind Jenji Kohan, and Bridesmaids writer Kristen Wiig. The four talked about mastering their craft in an industry dominated mostly by men. The panel was enlightening, and considering their pedigree, also quite entertaining.

At one point, Mindy Kaling even delivered the perfect response about working in a predominantly male industry. Kaling said, “I have a personality defect where I sort of refuse to see myself as an underdog. It has gotten me into a lot of trouble, but is also the reason for my success.”

“I often am reminded of it when people ask me why I’m confident… why wouldn’t I be? It’s because my parents raised me with the entitlement of a tall, blonde, white man. That’s the way to do it, picture yourself as Armie Hammer on the outside,” Mindy Kaling quipped, referring to the blond actor known for his roles in The Social Network and The Lone Ranger.

And it seems, Mindy Kaling has a few more skills up her sleeve aside from writing and being funny. During the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Reese Witherspoon talked to Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson about Kaling’s crafting skills. “Mindy has started this thing, Wreath Witherspoon. It’s hard to say, but she was so sweet,” Witherspoon said. “She sent me one for the Oscars nomination and [it’s] just very creative. It showed her floral abilities. She also writes, directs, acts and she arranges flowers beautifully.”

Reese Witherspoon posted a photo on her Instagram that shows the wreath hanging on the front door of her home. It looks like Mindy Kaling has another thing to add on her resume.

  • Kristen Wiig Thinks She Bombed Golden Globes

Kristen Wiig was actually quite the highlight of this year’s Golden Globe Awards and racked up lots of laughs with her cohort and Saturday Night Live co-star, Bill Hader.

However, if you ask her, it was an abominable failure.

    In fact, it was hilarious!

“I haven’t received the call yet,” Kristen Wiig told MTV News when asked about the possibility of her and Hader taking the places left vacant by Amy Poehler and Tina Fey.

Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader definitely didn’t bomb.

“Did you kill it? I was out of the country, I haven’t seen it,” Skarsgård said. He then playfully asked, “Were you… Hilarious?”

    Yes. Yes, she was.

  • Kristen Wiig Says She’d Have Ricky Ricardo, Desi Arnaz’ Character In ‘I Love Lucy,’ Score the Soundtrack of Her Life

Kristen Wiig says she would have Ricky Ricardo, Desi Arnaz’ character in the legendary series I Love Lucy, score the soundtrack of her life if she had the choice.

Kristen Wiig revealed her choice at the The Hollywood Reporter‘s Sundance Lounge in Park City during the film festival.

Kristen Wiig is at the festival founded by Robert Redford for the screening of two films in which she stars.

She joined co-stars Sebastian Silva and Tunde Adebimpe Saturday to present their film Nasty Baby, in which she plays the character of Polly, a woman who agrees to carry the baby of a gay couple.

She is also on hand for the world premiere of The Diary of a Teenage Girl, a film based on the critically acclaimed graphic novel by Phoebe Gloeckner, alongside Bel Powley and Alexander Skarsgård.

During the same “who would you have score the soundtrack of your lives” segment, Jack Black said he would go with Don’t Worry Be Happy vocalist Bobby McFerrin or Black Sabbath to score his life.

  • Kristen Wiig and Harry Styles: Dirty Dancing?

Kristen Wiig and Harry Styles reportedly treated guests who attended the Saturday Night Live after party this past weekend to a dance extravaganza. The two most notably kicked up their heels to the Dirty Dancing theme song “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.” UPI reports that the pair even danced on a table.

Wiig played Styles–who is one-fifth of the popular British boy band One Direction–while she was a guest on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon earlier in 2014. Harry Styles is clearly a forgiving young man, because Kristen Wiig made it quite clear during her guest stint that she had little to no knowledge about the heart throbs or their music.

Nick Simmons, son of rocker Gene Simmons, captured the SNL dance moves and posted them on Instagram. Even though Kristen Wiig didn’t know much about One Direction, it clearly didn’t prevent her from rocking out with Harry Styles.

A video posted by Nick Simmons (@nickseesthings) on

Nick captioned the clip, “So the kid from @onedirection and Kristen Wiig got on a table and danced tonight at the SNL after party. So that’s a thing.”

That was certainly a thing, but no one would expect any less from Kristen Wiig. Prior to the after party she upstaged Amy Adams during her monologue, while she was hosting SNL.

Don’t you just love how Kristen Wiig is the life of the party–no matter where she turns up?

  • Kristen Wiig Turns Up On SNL, Then Parties With Boy Band Member

Kristen Wiig has had a lot of success since her time on Saturday Night Live, but she still has a place in her heart for the old homestead. Over the weekend, she turned up on the sketch show during Amy Adams’ monologue and then reportedly danced with One Direction member Harry Styles on a table at the after party. The song? “(I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life”, popularized by the ’80s film Dirty Dancing.

Styles and his band were the musical guest on the show, and the musician looked pretty cozy with Wiig on the dancefloor. Their performance sparked several posts on Instagram, where videos have been put up of the party.

Wiig, for those who don’t know, once showed up on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon dressed as the British pop star and did a pretty adorable (if not entirely accurate) impression of him.

  • Amy Adams ‘SNL’ Monologue Crashed by Kristen Wiig

Amy Adams hosted SNL this past weekend, and her opening monologue was crashed by SNL alum Kristen Wiig. This wasn’t the first time Wiig had done this to Amy Adams either.

According to a report from the Huffington Post, Wiig did the same thing while Adams was hosting Saturday Night Live back in 2008, too.

Amy Adams was in the middle of her own rendition of “We Need A Little Christmas” when Kristen Wiig made her entrance. Wiig claims she didn’t crash the scene, but rather “showed up uninvited.”

Entertainment Weekly didn’t think much of Amy Adams’s stint on SNL this weekend. In fact, when comparing her with Justin Timberlake, who hosted last year’s pre-Christmas show, they didn’t have much that was positive to say.

The publication seemed to think more of a sketch that was cut prior to showtime, during which Pete Davidson plays a man professing his love to Amy Adams, a la Love Actually.

Davidson starts off in the same fashion as Mark (played by Andrew Lincoln in the film), telling Adams to explain to her husband that it’s just Christmas carol singers at the door. But his declaration of love takes a few strange—and extremely unnecessary—turns.

Did you check out Amy Adams on Saturday Night Live this past weekend? Was she nearly as boring as EW made her out to be? Would she have received a better review had Justin Timberlake not hosted last year’s show that aired just before Christmas?

You can check out Amy Adams in a theater near you when her upcoming film Big Eyes premieres on Christmas Day.

  • Skeleton Twins: Third Impressive Box Office Weekend

The Skeleton Twins saw an impressive third weekend at the box office–placing eleventh overall this week following last week’s nineteenth-place standing. It has thus far grossed more than $1.26 million. The film stars Kristen Wiig, Luke Wilson, Ty Burrell, and Bill Hader. It won an award–Screenwriting Award: U.S. Dramatic–at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival back in January. Roadside Attractions and Lionsgate acquired the film earlier this year following its appearance at Sundance.

The Skeleton Twins follows estranged twins (Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader) who try to repair their relationship with one another after they both cheated death on the same day.

“A big part of the film’s success is due to the fact that Bill and Kristen, as well as Luke and Ty, gave big support on the PR front. They did literally 20 or more talk show appearances between them, in addition to a ton of regional and online press,” Roadside co-president Howard Cohen said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. He also noted that the film’s exceptional reviews are now motivating even more people to check it out in theaters.

The Skeleton Twins is expected to expand into even more theaters in the coming weeks. As of this weekend it averaged $3,278 per theater in box office sales.

Coming in just above The Skeleton Twins in the number ten box office spot is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which grossed $1.45 million this weekend. Just below The Skeleton Twins in the number twelve spot is The Drop. It grossed just over a million dollars.

Have you been to check out SNL alum Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader, along with Ty Burrell and Luke Wilson in The Skeleton Twins? It sounds like it has a few poignant moments and lots of laughter, too. It will be interesting to learn howThe Skeleton Twins does next weekend–its fourth weekend in theaters.

  • The Skeleton Twins Opens Nationwide This Weekend

Who wouldn’t want to see a hilarious feature film comedy starring Saturday Night Live alums Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader? Except it’s not a hilarious comedy, but a dark dramedy called The Skeleton Twins. In fact, the film begins with the titular twins both contemplating suicide while on different sides of the country.

The film, directed by Craig Johnson (Looper), opens nationwide this weekend. It is receiving mostly positive word of mouth and critical reviews, and is currently at 88% on Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer.

The tagline for the film, “When estranged twins Maggie (Kristen Wiig) and Milo (Bill Hader) feel they’re at the end of their ropes, an unexpected reunion forces them to confront why their lives went so wrong. As the twins reconnect, they realize the key to fixing their lives may just lie in repairing their relationship.”

What’s not in the tagline is that both twins are morbidly depressed, that their father killed himself, and that the pair has not seen one another for ten years. They’re also both alienated drifters.

Don’t worry it’s not all dark and depressing, the film has a few bright moments. Moira Macdonald, a critic for The Seattle Times, puts the film into what she calls a “sad comedy genre.” She wrote of one of the film’s comedic set pieces, “Though the film has many funny moments — most notably a priceless lip-sync performance to Starship’s “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” that brings the twins (and us) a moment of perfect happiness — the primary note struck here is one of quiet regret and, eventually, cautious hope.”

Also starring in the film is Luke Wilson, who plays the nice guy married to Wiig’s character. And if you’re a fan of Modern Family, you will be excited to see Phil Dunphey himself, Ty Burrell, on the big screen.
