Kim Raver on Her ’24’ Character Post-Coma

Kim Raver – a.k.a Audrey Raines Boudreau on the TV show 24said in an interview with Fox 24 Denver Wednesday that even though she has been with the show since Season 4, the latest scripts leave her completely surprised.

Raver once again plays Audrey in the one-off season event of 24:Live Another Day. In the season’s premier, Audrey wakes up from a traumatic coma suffered in the mini-series to find she is now married to Chief of Staff Mark Boudreau, played by Tate Donovan. She continues to be clueless about the marriage in the season premiere because Mark decides to keep it a secret from Audrey and her father (now the President), believing the revelation would be too traumatic for them.

“She’s kind of finding her voice. Especially with that twist, that Jack (Keifer Sutherland) is back and ‘how could you not tell me?’… So… I really find that Audrey is kind of coming back as well,” said Raver.

24:Live Another Day departs from the original format in that the 24 hours is shown in just 12 episodes, with only certain hours depicted.

Needless to say, the show will have twists and turns that even Raver finds surprising. The show is still being filmed for upcoming episodes and the Grey’s Anatomy actress has had a chance to see the upcoming plot twists in working scripts.

“She’s been through so much and at the top of the season she has a quieter voice because of the damage she’s experienced,” Raver said. “But what’s exciting is that she finds her voice and it’s interesting to find out why and how and to see her start to evolve from there.”

“I know some of the secrets, and then literally some I don’t. I literally gasped out loud,” said Raver. “The writers are so good that they create moments where, you know, it’s still a page turner.”

And even though her character is married to Boudreau, Raver says she still hopes Audrey and Jack somehow find each other.

“I’m a hopeless romantic so I want them to be together forever and ever,” said Raver. “There’s something very fundamentally romantic about these two damaged people who deserve to be together.”

  • “24: Live Another Day” Finally Gets A Full Trailer From Fox [Video]

Fans of the hit series 24 have probably been going crazy in anticipation for the new event series that will feature Kiefer Sutherland reprising his role of Jack Bauer in 24: Live Another Day.

There have been short clips revealed, and new cast members joining and exiting the series, but for the first time, fans finally get a full trailer for the upcoming series. The preview is not as long as some film trailers, but it does last for a full minute, and features new footage that has not been seen before.

The new trailer features plenty of pulse-pounding action that is sure to keep everyone on the edge of their seat when the show premieres. There are explosions, terrorist plots being planned, and the urgent phone calls that everyone remembers Jack Bauer receiving throughout 24.

24: Live Another Day is an event series that will air on Fox, the same network that aired 24. It is being shot on location in London, where the upcoming series will be set. It will follow Jack Bauer once again, who is in exile, but still willing to risk his life to thwart a terrorist attack.

It was announced months ago that Kiefer Sutherland’s beloved character would be returning to the small screen, and people have been buzzing about it ever since.

Another thing to note is that both Kim Raver and William Devane will be reprising their roles from 24 as well. In addition to the old cast members, 24: Live Another Day‘s cast will include Yvonne Strahovski, Giles Matthey, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Michael Wincott and Michelle Fairley.

The 24 revival will keep the same format that made the show such a groundbreaking hit, and play out in real-time as Jack Bauer attempts to save the United States. The event series will consist of 12 new episodes, and there is even a possibility of a 24 film happening too.

24 has been off the air for four years now, although it may seem like even longer for some people. The original series ran from 2001 until 2010. Tune in for 24: Live Another Day on Monday, May 5. The show will have a 2-hour premiere beginning at 8 p.m., and then air at 9 p.m. for the following episodes.

  • Kim Raver Will Return in “24: Live Another Day”

Now “24” fans have more news to cheer about! After announcing plans for a “24” reboot entitled “24:Live Another Day”, Fox Broadcasting Company announced that Kim Raver and William Devane will join the forming cast in their former roles as Audrey Raines and her father, Secretary of Defense James Heller.

Kim Raver, also known for her roles on “Third Watch,” “The Nine” and “Lipstick Jungle,” was most recently featured on “Revolution” and “Grey’s Anatomy. William Devane is best known for his role on “Knots Landing,” and recently played the president in “The Dark Knight Rises”. They join an already exciting original cast line-up with Keifer Sutherland as the butt-kicking, nation-defending Jack Bauer, and Mary Lynn Rajskub as the concurrently awkward and awesome Chloe O’Brian.

The reboot, expected to premiere in May 2014, will be set in London, according to MSN. Hopefully, it will fill in some blanks from the end of the last series, which lasted 6 seasons. In the finale, Jack is saying goodbye to a comatose Audrey Raines. So…obviously she didn’t die. Will her and Jack be a couple? They could be married with kids by now! But that would be kinda boring…

Maybe they will reunite after years of Jack hopelessly wandering the globe, assuming his lady love is dead, systematically pushing people away so that they don’t get hurt. Because everyone he loves gets hurt! Audrey will have gone undercover for the U.S. government since the world thinks she’s dead, but she just can’t help but to let Jack know she’s still alive, and still carries a flickering flame for him alone….Sorry.

According to TVGuide.com, “24: Live Another Day” begins several years later, so the possibilities are endless. All we can be sure of, is that Jack will forever be the tragic hero, saving the country and the people he loves from nefarious no-goodnicks from all over the world. We really have nothing to fear!

  • Kim Raver and William Devane Reprise “24” Roles

Fox’s reprise of its original innovative series, 24, announced today that it will welcome back to the cast Kim Raver and William Devane. Devane—as Secretary of Defense James Heller—and Raver—as his daughter, Audrey Raines—left the original series rather tragically, with Raver catatonic.

Wondering if Raver will spend the next 24 hrs comatose in 24: Live Another Day? The premise, revealed yesterday, for the follow-on is to pick up in London, several years from where the finale leaves off.

Raver is additionally known for roles in Third Watch, The Nine, Lipstick Jungle and feature roles on Revolution and Grey’s Anatomy. Devane’s career highs dating back to the 1960’s include roles in Knots Landing and feature films The Dark Knight Rises, Space Cowboys and Marathon Man.

Essential to the series is the return of Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland), love interest for Raver’s character. Also returning with the series in Spring 2014 will be Mary Lynn Rajskub as Chloe O’Brian.

The original series, 24, started November 2001 and aired its last episode in May 2010 after eight seasons—it was one of the shows that suffered a longer than typical gap due to the writers strike of 2007-2008.

Raver shared her jubilation on Twitter, seeming to primarily enjoy no longer having to keep the secret.

The original series accumulated 73 Emmy nominations with a 2006 win for Outstanding Drama Series. Star, Sutherland, has one win in the series for Outstanding Lead Actor-Drama Series, with seven nominations. Howard Gordon, Brian Grazer and Sutherland have signed on as executive producers for Live Another Day. The timeline of the show has been groundbreaking, weaving plots and subplots together over the 12-episode season representing 24 hours, one complete day.
