  • Kid Rock Defends His Redneck Cred; Says His Early Music Was ‘Gay’

In a recent op-ed for The Guardian former-rap-rocker-turned-blue-collar-crooner Kid Rock held forth on an array of topics that passed through his noggin. Throughout the piece, Rock presented his bona fides as a redneck. With an album due out in late February, perhaps Kid Rock was looking to remind his core audience that he is still the same low-brow that they remember.

Here are a few choice tidbits from the mind of Robert James Ritchie.

“I don’t FaceTweet or whatever people do. I turn on my computer and look at porn a little bit, see what’s going on in the news, but that’s about it.”

Rock repeats a common refrain among the unintelligentsia: that “street smarts” trumps “book smarts,” making the uneducated somehow better than someone who took the time to actually learn the facts of the world.

“Schoolbook-wise I’m not as educated as some politicians, but I am more connected to the people around me: Detroit, Alabama, Florida, Malibu.”

Speaking of politics, Rock claims the same lukewarm cocktail of centrism that many Americans like to tout. His have-it-both-ways take on abortion and gay marriage were especially illuminating.

“I am definitely a Republican on fiscal issues and the military, but I lean to the middle on social issues. I am no fan of abortion, but it’s not up to a man to tell a woman what to do. As an ordained minister I don’t look forward to marrying gay people, but I’m not opposed to it.”

But his greatest claim to redneck membership — like all true hayseeds — is his family.

“I’m 43 and about to become a grandfather, but it keeps my redneck street cred up. I could be a great-great-great-grandfather by the time I’m 80.”

Rock’s gun control notions are quite in line with his audience. And he spares no political correctness in his discussion of mental illness and firearms.

“If someone invades your house, yeah, you can shoot them. I don’t think crazy people should have guns.”

    Speaking of political correctness:

“Rap-rock was what people wanted at the time, and they still love those songs at shows. But it turned into a lot of bullshit and it turned out to be pretty gay… If someone says you can’t say ‘gay’ like that you tell them to go fuck themselves. You’re not going to get anything politically correct out of me.”

Nor anything that requires more than a sixth-grade understanding of civics and diplomacy, apparently. Perhaps Rock’s most revealing statement is his assessment of his own capacity.

“I don’t smoke much weed, it makes me dumb.”

Run and get that album. With a contemplative thought-base like this, Rush might have to defend its crown as the Thinking Person’s Band.

  • Kid Rock Gives The Best Gift Ever To His No. 1 Fan

Kid Rock’s “No. 1 fan” just got the thrill of a lifetime.

Dan McGurk, who has Down Syndrome, posted a video to YouTube last August showing off his vast array of Kid Rock schwag. He told his audience, “Hi, my name’s Dan and I’m the No. 1 Kid Rock fan.” McGurk also invited the Cowboy singer to his 30th birthday party, which took place on Monday night at the Clarkston Union restaurant in downtown Clarkston, Michigan.

The video got thousands of hits, and eventually word got back to Kid Rock that he had been invited to McGurk’s birthday party.

Here’s the clip of McGurk showing off his Kid Rock memorabilia, and inviting the singer to his party.

What happened next was like a dream come true.

Following dinner, McGurk was served his birthday cake while one of his guests belted out, “Happy Birthday.” After he blew out the candles, he wished that Kid Rock would suddenly appear at the celebration. Several moments passed and McGurk became visually upset that it looked like Kid Rock was not coming to his party.

But some birthday wishes do come true. Like magic, Rock entered the scene singing “Happy Birthday” to a man who could not possibly be any happier.

Check out the clip. At first, McGurk seems so certain that Kid Rock is going to show up at his party, just when he doubts that his dream may not come true, in walks Rock.

“I’ve been waiting for this …Kid Rock finally came to my birthday,” he said. “He came in singing happy birthday and my face light up and I as so excited to meet Kid Rock,” McGurk gushed.

Kid Rock obviously didn’t show up to the party empty-handed. The singer gave McGurk several birthday presents, including a custom-made Kid Rock guitar. “He got me lots of stuff, a hat, he got me lots of stuff…a picture frame and he signed my book,” said McGurk. “He told me if I be good to my family and all my friends at work I get free tickets to every Kid Rock concert.”

  • Pamela Anderson Dishes on Reconciliation with Husband Rick Salomon

It’s no secret that Pamela Anderson and husband Rick Salomon have had a rocky marriage.

Whether or not it will last is unknown, even to Anderson, but the former Bay Watch babe says that, for the moment, things are fine.

“It’s a real marriage,” the actress told People magazine Thursday at the Cantor Fitzgerald and BGC Partners’ Annual Charity Day in NYC. “It has its ups and downs.”

Anderson told Us Weekly at the same event that it’s their friendship that makes the marriage unique and worth fighting for.

“It’s good!” Anderson told Us Weekly . “We’re good friends! I think that’s kind of what makes it special.”

The 47-year-old animal activist filed for divorce from Salomon back in July. But, by August, the divorce filing had been dismissed, a Los Angeles Superior Court spokesperson told Us Weekly. “The couple is still officially married,” the spokesperson said.

Anderson said it really comes down to choosing whether to remain in the marriage or let it go.

“That’s the thing [about relationships],” said Anderson. “You can make choices. You don’t have to stay in anything that doesn’t feel right, you know? That’s the modern world.”

This is the second time the couple have been married. Salomon, who is best known for his part in a scandalous sex tape with Paris Hilton, married the buxom blond back in 2007. The marriage only lasted a few months. The couple split three months after their wedding, and Anderson had their marriage annulled two months later.

Anderson announced in January that she and Salomon had once again married.

The actress was previously married to Tommy Lee in 1995. That marriage lasted for three years. Her second marriage to Kid Rock in 2006 lasted a year.

Anderson told Us that, for now, the reconciliation is going well, but doesn’t seem to have a clue whether it will work out in the long run.

“What are the odds?” Anderson said with a laugh. “I don’t know. Who knows? Who knows? I think we’re in it. I think we’re doing fine.”

  • Pamela Anderson Caught Kissing Rick Salomon, Divorce Plans Canceled?

Pamela Anderson and estranged husband Rick Salomon just might not be going through with a divorce after all.

The maybe-still-a-couple were spotted kissing in Malibu, just two weeks after the Baywatch star filed for divorce.

TMZ published a photo of the twosome kissing with both still wearing their wedding rings. Later, they sat down on a curb outside and continued to talk and cuddle, reported E! Online.

“They appeared relaxed throughout and after their public display they left together in a Range Rover. They definitely looked as if they had reconciled,” a source said.

Anderson filed for divorce on July 3, citing irreconcilable differences, after less than six months of marriage. This was their second attempt at happily-ever-after. They married on Jan. 9, just six years after Anderson had their first brief marriage annulled.

Two days after she filed, Anderson posted a lengthy original poem about love, heartbreak and prostitution on Facebook.

Anderson has been married to two other men besides Salomon. Her marriage to Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee ended in 1998 after three years, and her marriage to Kid Rock in 2006 only lasted three months.

Salomon — best known for his part in the Paris Hilton leaked sex tape scandal in 2003 — seems just as fickle as his wife. His first marriage to voice actress Elizabeth Daily ended in 2000, and his second marriage to actress Shannen Doherty ended in an annulment in 2002 after only nine months.

  • Pamela Anderson Remarries Ex-Husband

    Pamela Anderson Remarries Ex-Husband

New haircut. New hobbies. New ring. New husband. Well, sorta new husband.

Pamela Anderson surprised everyone when she showed up at the Sean Penn & Friends Help Haiti Home Gala Friday with a drop-dead gorgeous diamond ring on her finger. It was there that she announced that she had remarried her ex-husband Rick Salomon.

“We’re very happy,” Anderson said. “Our families are very happy and that’s all that matters.”

The 46-year-old Bay Watch beauty and Salomon first married in 2007, but the marriage was annulled just two months later.

This is Anderson’s fourth marriage. She has also been married to Tommy Lee and Kid Rock.

It was apparent that the two were back together as they frolicked on a Hawaii Beach in August.

Anderson, who recently ran the New York City Marathon, appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres show in October and said Salomon was her best friend “with benefits.” She added: “I don’t want to meet anyone else.”

“You keep going back to the same guys,” DeGeneres quipped. “You’re married, then you go back.”

“It’s recycling!,” Anderson said. “No, I’m very happy. We’re happy. He’s a great guy.”

  • Celine Dion making her way back on the map

What’s new in the world of Celine? She’s been out of the mainstream for almost a decade. She has been tucked away in Las Vegas for the majority of the last seven years performing at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and spending time with her family.

Celine Dion fans are ecstatic about her new single released on September 3, ‘Loved Me Back To Life’ which she debuted in concert over the summer. This studio version of the single came out September 3 on iTunes, the first track on the album, that will be fully released in November. She has not had a new english album since 2007. Has it been that long? She told Ellen viewers today, when appearing on the show that she has stayed busy with her career in Vegas, her husband and children.

    (image)

But fans were not so thrilled when her performance fell short that Friday on the Jimmy Kimmel Show, after missing a few high notes. Fans have reason to believe she was ill and not able to perform her best. She performed well on Ellen. Celine told Ellen that she was in town to see a doctor. Dion was shown in a photo putting makeup on for Ellen’s show at the doctor’s office.

Also worth mentioning, Dion is also selling her mansion in Jupiter, Florida for $72 million. The 5-acre property has 13 bedrooms, over 10,000 square feet and nicely nestled between closest neighbors Kid Rock and Michael Jordan. Any takers? Yeah, me neither. After selling multiple platinum records and five Grammy’s, I guess you come across some money.

She is focusing on her family life in Vegas, now that she has extended her time at Caesar’s Palace.

“Parenting is our most important job,” Dion said. “It’s not the easiest one. But we take great … pride (in doing) it. Because we know that we’re making a difference.”

  • Summer Tour Prices Have Been Capped

Summer Tour Prices Have Been Capped

There’s truly nothing like having the blissful summer air to welcome beautiful outdoor activities. Baseball is America’s pastime, yes, but there’s absolutely nothing like the pairing of a warm summer night, the sound of music and applause with the most beautiful backdrop of a lit up outdoor concert stage.

But unfortunately, thoroughly enjoying those momentous occasions have become few and far between with the astronomical ticket prices. (And let’s not forget to mention the adult beverage prices at concerts, too.) Those steep prices have discouraged people to enjoy summer festivities and can no longer partake in the simple pleasures that summer music delivers.

However, it’s not just the fans that have noticed the unfortunately growing ticket prices. Fear not frugal music lovers, musicians have noticed and are no longer accepting it!

Detroit native and musician, Kid Rock is one of the artists that has decided to take a “pay cut” for concert ticket prices. He’s created a deal where ticket prices are $20 across the board at the amphitheater’s he’s been scheduled to perform at this summer. Rock’s teamed up with Livenation to lower ticket prices, parking prices and concession prices for fans. A list of his tour dates can be found here.

And it’s not just Rock you’ll catch out on tour. His band, Twisted Brown Trucker Band, ZZ Top, Uncle Kracker and Kool & the Gang will all be performing. The tour is currently going on and ends on Sept. 15 in Tampa.

Apparently, Rock sat down with Livenation CEO, Michael Rapino to discuss lower prices. Hopefully this action will cause other touring artists and bands to consider lowering their prices as well.
