  • Kelly Clarkson, Kesha Have Something in Common

Kelly Clarkson has way more than anyone might imagine with singer Kesha, whose real name is Kesha Rose Sebert. The women don’t sing in the same genre and their personalities are about as different as they could possibly be, but the two share something neither would wish on their worst enemies.

Kesha has been in the news recently for a court case in which she tried to get out of her contract with producer Dr. Luke. The judge denied her request.

Now Kelly Clarkson claims in a new interview with Kyle and Jackie O of the popular Australian radio show, that she, too, was blackmailed by Dr. Luke.

“He’s a talented dude but he’s just lied a lot,” Kelly Clarkson said. “I’ve run into a couple really bad situations. Musically, it’s been really hard for me because he will just lie to people. It’s like ‘What?’ It makes the artist look bad. He’s difficult to work with, kind of demeaning, it’s kind of unfortunate. People are like well you’ve worked with Max [Martin] and Luke and I’m like Max and Luke are very different. Obviously the dude is a talented guy but character-wise, no. I only worked with him – even the last time I worked with him – because literally I got blackmailed by my label. They were like we will not put your album out if you don’t do this.”

She went on to say Dr. Luke is of “poor” character, and said she and Kesha are certainly not the only celebrities in the music world who don’t like working with him.

“I get along with everyone I work with. I love everyone I work with. He’s just not a good guy for me,” she said.

Kelly Clarkson was among many celebrities to show their support of Kesha following her recent court case.

Kelly Clarkson admits she doesn’t know any of the inside details of Kesha’s dealings with Dr. Luke. Kesha alleges sexual abuse at the hands of the producer.

“He’s never done anything like that with me […] I don’t know that situation,” she said. “I don’t know that situation. But if it’s true I can’t imagine working with someone who had done something like that.”

This isn’t the first time Kelly Clarkson has spoken out against Dr. Luke either. She challenged some of the stories published in Clive Davis’s memoir. One claims Clarkson cried while writing her hit song, “Since U Been Gone,” with Dr. Luke and Max Martin.

“First, he says I burst into ‘hysterical sobbing’ in his office when he demanded ‘Since U Been Gone’ be on my album,” Clarkson said at the time. “Not true at all. His stories and songs are mixed up. I did want more guitars added to the original demo, and Clive did not. Max, Luke and I still fought for the bigger sound and we prevailed and I couldn’t be more proud of the life of that song. I resent him dampening that song in any way.”

Do you suppose now that Kelly Clarkson has spoken out about her unpleasant experiences with Dr. Luke, that even more will hop on the bandwagon, too? These displays of support might not change the outcome of Kesha’s court case, but will likely make her feel like she has a wealth of support from many within the music industry.

  • Mariska Hargitay Voices Support for Kesha

Mariska Hargitay Voices Support for Kesha

Mariska Hargitay has added her name to the large number of celebrities supporting Kesha Rose Sebert. Known by her stage name, Kesha, the young woman accused Dr. Luke of sexual assault, and asked a judge to allow her out of her recording contract with him.

Last week a judge refused to allow Kesha to break her contract. Since then, a wealth of celebrities from both within and outside of the music world have taken to social media to support the singer.

Mariska Hargitay is known for standing up for women. Not only does she play the role of Olivia Benson on Law & Order: SVU, where her department deals with victims of sex crimes, she is also the founder and president of the Joyful Heart Foundation, an organization whose aim is to heal, educate, and empower victims of sexual abuse.

Perhaps Mariska Hargitay plans to forward information from the Joyful Heart Foundation to Kesha, to further encourage and support the young woman.

Kudos to Mariska Hargitay, as well as everyone else–celebrity or not–who has lent their support to Kesha.

  • Dr. Luke Vindicated: Video Shows Kesha Swearing That He Never Raped Her

Amid the outpouring of support that Kesha has been receiving from fans and fellow artists alike, Dr. Luke is standing his ground and maintains that there is no truth to the “TiK ToK” singer’s sexual assault allegations against him.

The embattled music producer, whose real name is Lucasz Gottwald, is currently embroiled in a very public legal battle with Kesha Rose “Kesha” Sebert, who claims that he had abused her “sexually, physically, verbally and emotionally” over the course of ten years.

Last week, Justice Shirley Kornreich of the New York Supreme Court rejected Kesha’s motion for preliminary injunction that would have permitted her to record music outside her six-album contract with Dr. Luke’s company, Kemosabe Records.

A tearful Kesha was seen sobbing in the courtroom while the decision was announced. Since then, numerous prominent female celebrities have expressed their support and sympathy for the 28-year-old singer.

This unfortunate saga got even more interesting when TMZ got hold of a deposition that Kesha had given in 2011 in connection with a lawsuit filed against her and Dr. Luke. In the video, a rather relaxed Kesha can be seen answering questions about the producer. When asked if the drugging and rape allegations were true, she said no.

At one point in the deposition, the lawyer asked Kesha if she ever engaged in an “intimate relationship” with Dr. Luke.

“No. I don’t know what my mother told to David, but I know Dr. Luke never made any sexual advances at me,” was Kesha’s clear response.

While this new revelation might hurt Kesha’s chances at getting future appeals approved by the higher court, Dr. Luke is in no position to rejoice just yet.

In an effort to eliminate any incriminating evidence that could support Kesha’s sexual assault claims, Dr. Luke deleted a few of his past tweets. One tweet that was posted in 2009 showed a photo of a sleeping Kesha with the caption, “Damn my artists work hard!!!!!!!!”

  • Kelly Clarkson Posts Social Media Message in Support of Kesha Rose Sebert

Kelly Clarkson went to bat on Friday for Kesha Rose Sebert–better known as Kesha–after a judge deemed she must remain under contract with Dr. Luke (Lukasz Gottwald), the man who allegedly sexually abused her.

Although the tweet borders on cryptic, it seems obvious Kelly Clarkson is on Kesha’s side.

Does it sound like Kelly Clarkson fears Dr. Luke? Is that why she was so careful in the wording of her message to Kesha? Or is she instead falling back on an old adage–and a good one at that? If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.

Kelly Clarkson and Kesha Rose Sebert are miles apart from one another in the music world. They don’t even sing or record within the same genre. Yet there appears to be a solidarity among women in the music business–especially when one desperately needs support from the others.

In addition to Kelly Clarkson, Kesha received a wealth of tweets from other women–and men, too–in the music world.

Celebs from outside of the music realm joined Kelly Clarkson in their support of Kesha, too.

It’s practically unthinkable that Kesha Rose Sebert must continue to work with this man who allegedly sexually abused her. Kudos to Kelly Clarkson and all the others who are lending their support to the singer. Hopefully even more will jump on that bandwagon of support in the coming days, letting Kesha know she’s not in this alone.

  • Kesha Rose Sebert: Judge Keeps Kesha Tied To Accused Rapist

Kesha Rose Sebert, better known to the world as simply Kesha, has lost her battle to break ties with record producer Dr. Luke.

The case was brought by Kesha Rose Sebert in an attempt to dissolve the contract she holds with Dr. Luke and Sony over allegations that Dr. Luke drugged and raped her over a decade ago.

Kesha Rose Sebert also alleges ongoing abuse by Dr. Luke.

However, Dr. Luke denied the claims and said that the allegations only came out when Kesha Rose Sebert’s popularity began to decline and she needed some publicity.

Kesha Rose Sebert’s attorney, Mark Geragos, was asking that Kesha Rose Sebert freed from the contract with Dr. Luke as the career of a pop star is short and she no longer wishes to be involved with her accused rapist.

However, New York Supreme Court Justice Shirley Kornreich had her doubts and was quite clear on her feelings.

She said to Geragos, “You’re asking the court to decimate a contract that was heavily negotiated and typical for the industry.”

Opposing arguments were made that Dr. Luke had already invested $60 million in Kesha Rose Sebert’s career.

Dr. Luke had also already agreed to allow her to continue to record with Sony without his involvement.

Therefore, Kornreich told Geragos that fact “decimates your argument.”

She added, “My instinct is to do the commercially reasonable thing.”

What do you think about the decision made by Judge Kornreich? Do you feel it was fair to Kesha Rose Sebert?

  • Kesha Rose Sebert: Singer Can’t Get Out of Contract Despite Sexual Abuse Allegations

Kesha Rose Sebert, known in the music world simply as Kesha, has been trying to get out of her contract with Dr. Luke (Lukasz Gottwald), alleging sexual abuse. On Friday she suffered a big blow.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Kesha Rose Sebert alleges that Dr. Luke “drugged and raped her a decade ago and has committed ongoing abuse,” and has been pushing for a preliminary injunction that would allow her to record outside of Dr. Luke’s perameters. Her attorneys have told the judge that the careers of pop stars are short and that if an injunction doesn’t issue, the damage–aside from the alleged abuse–she faces is a destroyed music career. After hearing both sides of the argument, New York Supreme Court Justice Shirley Kornreich had serious doubts.

“You’re asking the court to decimate a contract that was heavily negotiated and typical for the industry,” the judge said toKesha’s attorney, Mark Geragos.

Since Dr. Luke invested $60 million in Kesha’s career, and allowed her to record without him, the judge felt Kesha Rose Sebert was left with no argument.

“My instinct is to do the commercially reasonable thing,” she told Sebert’s attorney.

Despite protests on behalf of Kesha’s fans outside the courtroom, the judge denied an injunction.

Dr. Luke claims Kesha Rose Sebert and her reps are trying to extort him. He says the sexual abuse allegations stem from her “stalled career.”

This isn’t yet a done deal, however. The judge didn’t make a ruling to dismiss the case, based on “some vagueness in Kesha’s counterclaims” that might allow her to file an amended version in the future.

Meanwhile several big names in the music world are siding with and supporting Kesha Rose Sebert.

What’s your take on all these icons from the music world supporting Kesha Rose Sebert? It certainly looks like validation, don’t you think?

Regardless of the business end of Kesha’s contract with Dr. Luke, why isn’t there more of an issue being raised about the sexual allegations?

Hopefully Kesha Rose Sebert stays strong amidst all this support, and doesn’t let this case go.
