  • Kate Mara, Sister Rooney Mara Stun in Cleavage-Baring Gowns at SAG Awards

Kate Mara and sister Rooney Mara were quite a pair at the SAG Awards on Saturday. Noticed not solely for their acting skills, the sisters both wore cleavage-baring Valentino gowns that caught the eyes and cameras of many in attendance.

Lest you think Rooney and Kate Mara wore matching gowns, that is definitely not the case. Choosing the same designer likely proves the depth of their sisterhood.

Kate Mara wore a beige halter with revealing side cutouts, while Rooney chose a v-neck pleated gown with matching cape. It was by far the less attractive of the two gowns–lending to the appearance that Rooney Mara was about to take off and fly. When she omitted the cape, however, there was some sex appeal.

“I don’t know if this is sexy by most people’s standards,” Rooney said, “but for me it’s more revealing than normal.”

Yes, Rooney and Kate Mara both stunned in their cleavage-baring gowns, but for completely different reasons. While Kate Mara’s look was sexy and inviting, Rooney’s made those nearby do a double-take, but for all the wrong reasons.

An aside: While at the SAG Awards, Rooney and Kate Mara let insiders know that most people have long been pronouncing their last name incorrectly. While most say “Mah-ra,” it is in fact “May-ra” instead.

Neith Rooney nor Kate Mara were nominated for a SAG Award, but Rooney received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Carol.

Kate Mara: Her Dad Hates Her Hair

Kate Mara is pulling off one of Hollywood’s most coveted accessories: the pixie cut.

She’s not just pulling it off, actually. Kate Mara is killing it.

Not everyone has the face for that style, you know.

However, on Tuesday’s episode of Live with Kelly and Michael, Kate Mara admitted that not everyone thinks it’s so great.

Kate Mara used to have lovely, flowing, brunette locks. They were apparently very special to her father.

When Kate Mara sat in the guest chair, Kelly Ripa, a fan of drastic hair changes herself, focused immediately on her new haircut.

When Kelly Ripa asked about the ease of her new pixie, whether it was more or less work than her long hair, Kate Mara gushed, “Oh, less! I don’t have to wash it now, I don’t have to brush it. I love it.”

Hmmm, I wonder if Kelly Ripa will take a break from the wild colors for a while and go with a drastic cut?

Anyway, when Kelly asked about the reactions that Kate Mara received about her haircut, she admitted that, while most were positive, there was one big negative.

    Her own daddy.

“I got a lot of nice things,” she said, but “I got one sort of negative thing said to me. I text messaged my dad the other day saying ‘I miss you’, and his response was, ‘I miss your hair.’ So, thanks Dad!”

Awww, poor Kate Mara! Well, I’m sure her dad will get over it. I mean, it’s just hair.

After all, when Kate Mara cut her hair, one can really see the resemblance between her and her sister, Rooney Mara, right?

What do you think about Kate Mara’s new pixie? Do you think you would ever try it?

  • Kate Mara’s Dad Has Something to Say About Her New Pixie Haircut

Kate Mara’s dad is not exactly a fan of her new hair style.

The Fantastic Four actress unveiled a super-short pixie haircut earlier this summer for the press tour of the film and her favorite fan is none too pleased.

During an appearance on Live With Kelly and Michael on Tuesday, Kelly Ripa couldn’t wait to get to Mara’s new hairstyle.

Is the style more work or less than her formerly long locks? asked Ripa.

“Oh, less!” Mara replied. “I don’t have to wash it now, I don’t have to brush it. I love it.”

When Ripa asked how others have reacted to the daring new look, Kate Mara said the reactions were mostly positive, save for one.

“I got a lot of nice things,” she said, but “I got one sort of negative thing said to me. I text messaged my dad the other day saying I miss you, and his response was, I miss your hair. So, thanks Dad!”

The stylist responsible for Mara’s new look, L’Oréal Paris hairstylist Mara Roszak, told People magazine that the actress herself was the inspiration for the bold move.

“A pixie is something that is a major decision to do; the person has to be prepared, and she immediately owned it,” Roszak said of Kate Mara. “She has such beautiful bone structure and features, so I knew going pixie would be perfect on her. It’s something she’s always wanted to do and the response has been amazing.”

What do you all think of Kate Mara‘s short do?

  • Kate Mara: Her Dad Hates Her Adorable Pixie Cut

Kate Mara began a quest to shorten her locks at the beginning of the summer when she cut off a significant length.

Soon after, Kate Mara just went for it and chopped it into a really great pixie cut.

And everyone loved it. What’s not to love? I mean a lot of people just can’t pull off a pixie, but Kate Mara has the perfect face for it.

Her stylist, Mara Roszak (I know, that’s a weird coincidence) said, “A pixie is something that is a major decision to do; the person has to be prepared, and she immediately owned it.”

Roszak added, “She has such beautiful bone structure and features, so I knew going pixie would be perfect on her. It’s something she’s always wanted to do and the response has been amazing.”

However, when Kelly asked her about everyone’s reaction to it, Kate Mara had to admit she had the one nay-sayer.

She said, “I got a lot of nice things, but I got one sort of negative thing said to me. I text messaged my dad the other day saying ‘I miss you’, and his response was, ‘I miss your hair.’ So, thanks Dad!”

Dads. What are ya gonna do?

The low-key interview was likely a breeze compared to the awkward one endured Kate Mara and her Fantastic 4 co-star, Michael B. Jordan, endured from Atlanta’s Rock 100.5 Morning Show, in which they were asked to explain how their characters could be brother and sister.

Kate Mara later told HuffPost Live of the interview, “It’s just ignorance. Sometimes journalists use that [interview] room as a safety net to ask questions they never would have asked you outside of that room.”

That really was an awkward question. I mean, come on.

What do you think of Kate Mara’s pixie? Could you pull it off?

  • Kate Mara Is Insulted By Interviewer Who Doesn’t Like Her Haircut

Kate Mara and her Fantastic Four co-stars sat down for an interview recently that somehow managed to trump all the awkward interviews we’ve seen go viral lately (namely, Amy Schumer, Cara Delevingne).

Mara, Michael B. Jordan, and Jamie Bell sat down with Jason Bailey and Steven Rickman of Atlanta radio station Rock 100.5 to talk about their movie, and the disc jockeys had quite a bit to say; not about the actual film, but about Mara’s appearance and the fact that, while she’s white and Jordan is black, they play siblings.

“The obvious question. From where I stand, you’re brother and sister … am I missing something? …You’re white, you’re black. How does that happen? There has to be some type of adoption thing going on.” Bailey said.

Jordan explained that there is no backstory given on the siblings, but that it doesn’t necessarily have to be adoption. From there, the interview took a turn when Rickman said he thought Kate was “way hot” in the film Shooter, and then pointedly commented on her new short haircut.

“I’m sorry, I know. You don’t like it, I can tell….This is a great interview,” Mara said.

Kate Mara has changed up her hair a few times recently, moving from the long auburn locks she rose to fame with to a short blonde bob to a dark pixie cut. The former American Horror Story actress said last year that she doesn’t want her look to define her when it comes to roles.

“I was just ready to not be — this sounds really cheesy — but I didn’t want to be defined by my hair color. My hair has always been crazy long and I was just ready to let that go,” Kate Mara said.

  • Kate Mara Talks Rivalry With Sister Rooney Mara

Kate Mara has held her own as an actress just fine, thank you very much. Her turn on House of Cards made her a hot topic of conversation. Her role alongside Johnny Depp in Transcendence may not have been the best way to spend that new-found capital, but she survived.

Despite her up and coming status in Hollywood, Kate Mara still gets asked the same question over and over: Is there much of a competitive streak between her and her famous sister Rooney Mara?

Kata Mara’s sister Rooney is making news of her own lately after a lesbian scene in a film with Cate Blanchett. Sorry to say, that might overshadow the going-downtown scene Kate shared with Kevin Spacey.

But Kate Mara insists there is no competition between her and her sister. She told Glamour magazine recently:

”The other thing I’ve learned to deal with? People always want to know: ‘Is there competition between you and your sister?’ Luckily there isn’t.”

Even though her competition is not with her sister, Kate Mara does admit that Hollywood is an incredibly competitive place.

“But rivalry is an industrywide obsession – and it’s toxic. I have to remind myself that just because a person got a job I wanted, it doesn’t make me any ‘less than.’ When I’m at my strongest mentally, I don’t ever compare myself to others.”

Kate Mara explains that rivalry among actresses rears its head when you are going for a part and don’t get cast.

”As an actor 90 percent of the time, you’re getting told, ‘No, sorry, you’re not right.’ I don’t know that you ever really get used to that. I’m definitely better than I was; now if I don’t get a part, I believe it’s because that ‘no’ will open up my time for a role or experience I was meant to have.”

Regardless of what roles she gets or doesn’t get, she believes she is successful for a simple reason.

”I’ve always felt blessed to be doing what I love, and that’s why I consider myself successful.”

  • Kate Mara, David Oyelowo to Star in ‘Captive’

Kate Mara of House of Cards fame and Selma star David Oyelowo are set to star in an upcoming true crime thriller called Captive. The film tells the story of a man–Brian Nichols–who escapes police custody and holds a woman captive in her own home. He murdered four people.

Ashley Smith is a young mom who wrote a book about this real-life experience, called Unlikely Angel: The Untold Story Of The Atlanta Hostage Hero. Kate Mara will portray her in Captive. David Oyelowo stars as the escapee who holds her captive. Smith reportedly calmed her captor by sharing the book, A Purpose Driven Life, with him.

Smith was struggling with addiction at the time Brian Nichols held her captive, and used some of the lessons she adapted in her fight with addiction to calm him.

In addition to playing the role of reporter Zoe Barnes on House of Cards for one season, Kate Mara recently starred in sci-fi thriller Transcendence alongside Johnny Depp. She also starred in the reboot of the Fantastic Four.

Paramount has recently secured the worldwide distribution rights for Captive. This means the film is headed to the big screen. Fans can look forward to seeing Kate Mara and David Oyelowo in Captive when it premieres on September 18th.

  • Kate Mara To Star In True-Crime Thriller

Kate Mara had done everything from superhero movies to Netflix original dramas, but now she’s moving on to true-crime. The former House Of Cards actress has reportedly been cast in the upcoming film Captive, which tells the true story of a woman taken hostage in her own home by a man who escaped police custody in 2005 and killed four people.

Selma star David Oyelowo will take the lead role, and Mara will reportedly play Ashley Smith, a young mother who wrote a book about her experience. According to IMDB: “a single mother struggling with drug addiction is randomly taken hostage in her own apartment by a man on the run from the law for breaking out of jail and murdering the judge assigned to his case.”

Ashley Smith escaped unharmed and later penned the book Unlikely Angel: The Untold Story Of The Atlanta Hostage Hero , which the film is partly based on. Smith allegedly calmed down her captor, Brian Nichols, with the book A Purpose Driven Life.

Mara only spent one season on House Of Cards, but she made a big impact on fans and went on to garner some big roles. She has said that working with Kevin Spacey was not at all like she thought it would be.

“Most people have this sort of picture of him as – and I sort of did as well before I started working with him – I thought he was going to be very, very serious, and a little intimidating. And that’s not my experience with him at all. He’s hilarious and with all the dramatic stuff we had to do together, he kept it light with me and I always felt really comfortable with him,” Mara said.

  • Kate Mara Confirms Casting in ‘Fantastic Four’ Reboot

Kate Mara confirmed in interviews this week that she has been cast in the role of the Invisible Woman in the new Fantastic Four reboot, and that she is gearing up for the role.

The 31-year-old House of Cards actress said she was working out hard to prepare for the role, which may involve wearing figure-hugging costumes.

“I haven’t been told anything specifically yet, but that could change once we start filming,” she said when asked by an interview at E! whether she has changed her workout routine for the role.

Mara said she was not sure whether or not she would be wearing spandex as the Invisible Woman in the Josh Trank-directed project.

    “I don’t know that that’s a thing,” she said.

“I think our film is going to be very different than the other one, which I never saw, but I know there was a lot of Spandex involved. I don’t know that they’re many Spandex suits in ours,” she said.

When asked about the comic book, Mara said:

“Well I don’t know very much about it, which is weird but true! Umm, all I know is that it’s going to be a very different take on the film, which people may not expect. I’m not really familiar with the comic books…I picked up a few when I got the part. I think we’re making a very grounded version of a superhero film. I trust Josh Trank’s vision as I was a huge fan of Chronicle.”

Mara also dispelled rumors she was cast as Michelle Knight, the Ohio woman who was kidnapped by Ariel Castro, in an upcoming film with a tweet she sent on Wednesday. Knight, along with two other women, escaped Castro’s home in May 2013 after years of captivity.

Mara posted a tweet on Wednesday denying the casting.

Fantastic Four starts filming within the next few weeks. The Marvel film is scheduled for release in June 2015.

  • Kate Mara and Her Role in the Fantastic Four Reboot

Coming off of her performance as Zoe Barnes in the Netflix series House of Cards, Kate Mara is now stepping into comic book fame as she prepares for her role in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot.

The film, directed by Josh Trank (Chronicle), will exist in the same world as the X-Men film series. Based on the Ultimate Fantastic Four comic, it is said to be more “grounded” than previous FF films.

“Well, I don’t know very much about it, which is weird but true!” Mara said when questioned about the upcoming film. “Umm, all I know is that it’s going to be a very different take on the film, which people may not expect . I’m not really familiar with the comic books … I picked up a few when I got the part. I think we’re making a very grounded version of a superhero film. I trust Josh Trank’s vision as I was a huge fan of Chronicle.”

Mara is slated to play Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, the sister of Johnny Storm/Human Torch (played by Michael B. Jordan). When asked about her costume for the film, the 31-year old American Horror Story actress said that she didn’t even know if she had one.

    (Gasp!) No spandex?

“I think our film is going to be very different from the other one,” she said. “I know they had a lot of spandex involved in that film. I don’t know if there are as many spandex suits involved in ours … I’m not mad about it.”

However, Mara is still keeping in shape, citing pilates and Bar Method as her first choices.

“Well, I work out a lot!” she said. “Mentally, I need to work out or else I go crazy. … If I’m on location shooting, I run a lot. I’m a vegan and I try and eat gluten free, so it’s mostly about that. But I let myself have treats as well. I love French fries and red wine. It’s my go-to!”

Fantastic Four will be released on June 19, 2015 with a sequel already scheduled for July 14, 2017.

  • Kate Mara’s Star Power Is On The Rise

Kate Mara has always been a powerful actress, but with the success of the Netflix series House of Cards, her star power is definitely on the rise.

The 30-year-old actress has been acting for 17 years. Her first role was in Law & Order when she was 14 and over the years, she’s been one of those actresses you see over and over but can’t quite recall their name.

She’s starred in numerous television shows and made appearances in acclaimed films like Brokeback Mountain and 127 Hours. But, she never quite broke into the spotlight.

    But, all that is changing.

Her strong performance in House of Cards playing newspaper reporter Zoe Barnes has led to roles in some high-profile films that are in the works.

Mara just signed on to play Sue Storm (Invisible Girl) in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, joining other rising Hollywood stars Michael B. Jordan (Johnny Storm/The Human Torch), Miles Teller (Dr. Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic), and Jamie Bell (Ben Grimm/The Thing).

The project has been in development over the past five years and is expected to be one of the biggest summer blockbusters in 2015.

Mara said working with Academy Award-winner Kevin Spacey, who plays Frank Underwood on House of Cards, is a wonderful experience and nothing like she imagined.

“Most people have this sort of picture of him as – and I sort of did as well before I started working with him – I thought he was going to be very, very serious, and a little intimidating,” said Mara. “And that’s not my experience with him at all. He’s hilarious and with all the dramatic stuff we had to do together, he kept it light with me and I always felt really comfortable with him.”

  • Kate Mara: What You Need To Know About Your New Girl Crush

Kate Mara has been acting longer than most people realize; the cool redhead may have been one of those girls you spot in a film and think is familiar a couple of years ago, but ever since her creepy/crazy turn on “American Horror Story” season 1–and her brilliant portrayal of a young, ambitious journalist on “House of Cards”–Mara’s star is on the rise.

Here are some things you need to know about this talented lady:

    1. Her little sister is Rooney Mara, star of “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo”.

    2. Her great-grandfathers were the founders of the New York Giants and the Pittsburgh Steelers and she often sings the National Anthem for the Giants when they play at home.

    3. She graduated high school a year early and was actually accepted to the NYU Tisch School of the Arts, but decided to pursue acting and singing for three years.

    4. She’s a talented tap and ballet dancer.

    5. She was considered for the role of Catwoman in “The Dark Knight Rises”, but Anne Hathaway took the role instead.

    6. She played Heath Ledger’s daughter in “Brokeback Mountain”, although she was only four years younger than he at the time.

“I was just four years younger than him, and I was playing his daughter, which is crazy. So beforehand, I was a little bit nervous about that. I thought, how are we going to make it believable? Are people going to laugh? But he was so genius that he never made me feel odd about it during the scenes. And Ang Lee is such an incredible filmmaker. I was young, and it was my first big movie. I was afraid that I was going to get fired every day because Ang is very specific. Heath was super-comforting. He said, ‘Oh no, this is how he is with everyone.’ Heath was very sweet with me. He was lovely in every single way,” she said.

Mara can be seen next in the upcoming film “Transcendence” and will star in next year’s “Fantastic Four” reboot as Sue Storm.

  • Kate Mara Asked Rooney Mara for David Fincher Advice

    SPOILERS BELOW…

House of Cards star Kate Mara, 31, admitted in a recent interview that she asked her sister Rooney Mara for advice on working with director David Fincher in the hit Netflix series.

“I ask my sister for advice if I’m ever questioning whether to take a job. I called her for advice on Fincher when I first started working with him.”

Rooney Mara, 28, worked with Fincher on 2010’s The Social Network and in the 2011 movie adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s best-selling Scandinavian thriller The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

Mara has been acting a few years longer than her younger sister.

“It’s such a special thing to have a family member doing the same job as you. She didn’t start acting until much later, but it makes me feel sort of looked-after, having her and knowing that she “gets” it,” she said.

Mara has been busy promoting Season Two of House of Cards which released February 14 on Netflix.

The political drama is a Netflix original series starring Kevin Spacey as scheming politician Frank Underwood and Robin Wright as his wife Claire. Mara stars as political journalist Zoe Barnes. Barnes is killed in the first episode of Season Two,

She’s also starring in the true-life thriller Captive which is scheduled for a 2014 release. It was recently announced that she’s been cast in the remake of The Fantastic Four.

Rooney Mara starred in 2013’s Side Effects with Jude Law and Channing Tatum and in the critically acclaimed Her which has been nominated for five Oscar Awards.

She stars opposite Martin Sheen in the British drama Trash, which is scheduled for a May 2014 release in the UK.

  • The Fantastic Four Reboot Makes Controversial Casting Decisions

It’s official…almost: the Fantastic Four reboot came closer to finalizing the cast this week. Previous reports revealed that Michael B. Jordan plans to play the Human Torch/ Johnny Storm. In Feb, several actors screen tested for the other three major roles. Among those actors and actresses were Kate Mara, Emmy Rossum, and Miles Teller.

Eventually Mara won the role of Sue Storm/the Invisible Woman over Emmy Rossum. 20th Century Fox and director Josh Trank offered Mara and Jordan final deals. However, due to Teller’s busy filming schedule, his deal is still in the works. Trank wants to work around Teller’s other projects, to avoid scheduling conflicts. If Teller officially joins the cast, he’ll play Reid Richards / Mr. Fantastic.

Another addition to the cast is Jamie Bell. Bell was offered the role of Ben Grimm/ the Thing, but has not finalized his deal with Fox and Trank for the role.

The Fantastic Four began in the 1960s, during Marvel Comics’ golden age. The comics revolved around a scientist, his family, and his best friend. They develop powers after cosmic radiation exposure. The Fantastic Four battle various creatures throughout the series, but their main nemesis is Dr. Doom. Previous reports claim Fox wants an A-list actor for that role, which may result in a gender swap.

Marvel Comics and Fantastic Four fans still have to wait a little longer to discover what, if any, changes will be made to ensure an A-lister plays Dr. Doom.

Trank’s reboot is based on the Ultimate Fantastic Four series, which ran from 2004-2009, and had 60 comics. Ultimate Fantastic Four followed a much younger version of Sue, Ben, Reed and Johnny; the origin of how they developed their powers was changed as well.

Many comic purists already labeled the reboot a failure, because of the racial, age, and physical differences between the cast compared to the original Fantastic Four characters. However, all four young actors have proven their talent in various shows and movies, so they may silence naysayers after the film’s release.

The Fantastic Four reboot hits theaters June 19, 2015.

  • Kate Mara Added To “Fantastic Four” Reboot

Kate Mara Added To “Fantastic Four” Reboot

Kate Mara is in final talks with the producers of the “Fantastic Four” reboot to play Sue Storm/Invisible Girl; she’ll join Miles Teller, Jamie Bell, and Michael B. Jordan in the film which is set for release next June.

The film will be quite a departure for Mara, who has built up an impressive resume over the years but hasn’t attempted a major role in a big-budget action film. With acting credits beginning in the late ’90s, Mara appeared in several television shows–including “Law & Order: SVU” and “Everwood”–before grabbing our attention on “Nip/Tuck” in 2003. The controversial show proved to be a jumping-off point for the young actress before she moved on to “24” and “Entourage”. “American Horror Story” allowed her to show us a deeper, darker side when she played the spurned, murdered college student who was having an affair with a married man, and of course, as Zoe Barnes on “House Of Cards”, Mara has shown us a true range.

This isn’t Mara’s first foray into the world of superheroes, however; she had a role in “Iron Man 2” as a U.S. Marshall. But this time around will be a little different; as Chris Evans–who starred in the original films as the Human Torch–can attest, starring in a big action movie can be a huge learning experience.

“It was one of the first times I had done a movie on that scale, so there were a lot of new things I was learning,” he said. “I was learning so much just about big budget movies and special effects. I got to be a superhero, which was fun. Cast was great. It was just the first time it felt like a real big production. It kind of felt like summer camp. It was just a lot of fun. I loved playing that character.”

  • Johnny Depp, Kate Mara Thrill In “Transcendence” Trailer

Johnny Depp has shown us over the years that he has a dark side; he has chosen roles that veer towards the gothic, the creepy, the downright weird. And while he clearly has a gift for comedy, he certainly knows how to pull at our heartstrings with his big dark eyes and the inherent ability to make us sympathize with him.

That ability may come in handy in the upcoming “Transcendence”, a technology-based thriller that sees Depp as a terminally ill scientist who figures out how to download his mind into a computer system, which, as you may imagine, comes with a few problems. The film, also starring “House Of Cards” actress Kate Mara and Morgan Freeman, isn’t due out until April, but you can check out the trailer below.

Depp, who recently went through a difficult split from longtime partner Vanessa Paradis, recently proposed to his “Rum Diary co-star Amber Heard. The couple went to great lengths to hide the engagement for a while, but after they were seen out on the town with a giant ring on Heard’s finger, the cat was out of the bag. Depp reportedly became smitten with the blonde beauty during filming and is rumored to have bought her a horse not long into their relationship. The couple most recently worked on the film “London Fields” together; the movie doesn’t have a release date yet.

  • Kate Mara Screen Tests for a Role in The Fantastic Four Reboot

In January, 20th Century Fox started production on another Marvel Comics reboot. Similar to The Amazing Spiderman, the latest one is happening less than a decade after the series’ most recent movie reboot. Josh Trank takes the director’s seat on this Fantastic Four film. Trank and crew are still in the casting process of pre-production, but they have cast their Human Torch. Fruitvale Station’s Michael B. Jordan will play Johnny Storm, the Human Torch.

Captain America’s Chris Evans played Johnny in the 2005 and 2007 Fantastic Four movies. Comic book fans already voiced their dismay about casting Jordan as the Human Torch. Those Marvel fans believe in keeping these movies as close to the source material as possible, so the racial change alarms them a bit. To add more confusion, House of Cards’ Kate Mara and Shameless’ Emmy Rossum recently screen tested for the role of Johnny’s sister, Susan “Sue” Storm Richards, the Invisible Girl. To accommodate for the racial differences, casting either actress for the part might mean a total change to the origin of these characters.

The Hollywood Reporter also revealed that Dr. Doom might have his gender swapped. 20th Century Fox wants an A-list star to play the villain; so if this means they have to change the gender to appease that request, they’ll do it. Surely many Marvel fans will be disappointed by this casting change as well.

Jordan’s That Awkward Moment co-star Miles Teller is also being considered for a role in the Fantastic Four reboot. He’ll play Reed Richards, Mister Fantastic. Magic City’s Christian Cooke did a screen test for the role of Ben Grimm, the Thing. Since the reboot is only in the early stages of production, it may be awhile before final casting decisions are made. Hate or love these casting possibilities, this movie will definitely add an interesting new spin to the franchise, hopefully in a good way.

  • Kate Mara On Why She Changed Her Hair

Kate Mara On Why She Changed Her Hair

It’s not unusual for celebrities to play around with their hairstyles … different movies or events call for different looks. However, there are times when an actor or actress feels like they just simply need a change.

A change is exactly what the House of Cards star Kate Mara said she needed, and during a recent interview with PEOPLE, she explained why.

It seems as though many of the popular celebrities are going for a shorter new style. Mara just recently cut her long brunette locks into a short bob, and then dyed her hair a light blonde.

A drastic change for the actress that has showcased her auburn hair her whole life. Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Lawrence are two other actresses who have made the decision to live it up with the bob.

“I was just ready to not be — this sounds really cheesy — but I didn’t want to be defined by my hair color,” she said. “My hair has always been crazy long and I was just ready to let that go.”

While Mara admits that she currently loves her new style, she also explains that she may change it up again. “Obviously the color changes the way makeup looks and the way colors look,” she said. “With my natural red hair I gravitate more towards color, and with the blonder hair I like to wear more neutral things like black and white.” So, what she is saying is that the blonde may be short lived, but she is going to rock it until then.
