  • Kate Beckinsale Says Journalists Keep “Police State” At Bay

Kate Beckinsale is at the center of a new true crime-inspired drama about Amanda Knox and Meredith Kurcher.

While Amanda Knox got the good news this past week that her murder conviction remains overturned, the crime that caused the media frenzy is still one of the most fascinating and heinous in recent history, making Kate Beckinsale’s new movie pretty intriguing.

Kate Beckinsale‘s new movie, Face of an Angel, is loosely based on the book, Angel Face: Sex, Murder, and the Inside Story of Amanda Knox, written by Newsweek and Daily Beast journalist Barbie Latza Nadeau.

Nadeau has been renamed Simone Ford for the movie, and that is the role that has been taken on by Kate Beckinsale.

The film focuses a lot on the journalists who fought for any bit of a lead while Amanda Knox’s trials went on.

This was a group that seems to have fascinated the film’s director, Michael Winterbottom.

“I met a lot of the journalists who covered the case: people from the British, Italian and American press and it’s not that they’re terrible people, I liked them. They’re thoughtful people, they’re intelligent people, they’re trying to do their job the best they can.”

He added, “I think they were aware of the problems with the coverage but they just couldn’t find a way of addressing that problem within the system. It’s a market and it’s very clear that as a freelance you have to have something to sell. And that means discovering 10 minutes before everyone else that Amanda Knox is wearing a brown skirt.”

Kate Beckinsale revealed that she also has a lot of respect for the craft.

Kate Beckinsale compared journalists to actors, saying, “It was weird for me to be playing the journalist but I realized quickly how important it was for my character that people were giving her information. It isn’t just salacious, it isn’t just what she wore in court. And if we don’t have journalists we live in a police state.”

She added, “It’s also true that journalists and actors share some qualities. Say you’re having a terrible argument with your boyfriend and you’re breaking up. For an actor there’s this still slight distance where you’re observing the event, thinking, ‘This is what it looks and feels like to be breaking up with someone.’ I think that journalists have that same ability to step back and see things from a different perspective. That doesn’t necessarily make the journalist an a***hole, any more than it does the actor.”

  • Kate Beckinsale Defends Journalists, Saying Without Them ‘People Would Be Living In a Police State’

Kate Beckinsale says journalists are necessary in society and says people would be living in a “police state” without the accountability journalism instigates.

The 41-year-old actress told The Guardian that she has found a newfound respect for the media by playing journalist Simone Ford in new psychological thriller The Face of an Angel, which is inspired by the real life story of Amanda Knox, who was accused of the murder of Meredith Kercher in 2007 and acquitted of the crime on Friday.

“It was weird for me to be playing the journalist but I realised quickly how important it was for my character that people were giving her information. It isn’t just salacious, it isn’t just what she wore in court. And if we don’t have journalists we live in a police state,” she said.

    Kate Beckinsale
says she has found that actors and journalists are similar in their ability to observe situations and disengage emotionally in order to present details of a story objectively.

“I think it’s also true that journalists and actors share some qualities. Say you’re having a terrible argument with your boyfriend and you’re breaking up. For an actor there’s this still slight distance where you’re observing the event, thinking, ‘This is what it looks and feels like to be breaking up with someone,’” she noted.

“I think that journalists have that same ability to step back and see things from a different perspective. That doesn’t necessarily make the journalist an a**ehole, any more than it does the actor,” she added.

Also starring alongside Kate Beckinsale in the film directed by Michael Winterbottom are Daniel Brühl, Cara Delevingne and Genevieve Gaunt.

  • Anna Faris Vs. Kate Beckinsale for Best Grammy Look

Talk at the Grammys on Sunday evening wasn’t entirely just about the music, or the musicians for that matter. It was also about the style of a few leading Hollywood ladies.

Anna Faris, known for her roles in the Scary Movie film series and the CBS sitcom Mom, appeared on the red carpet in a simple but elegant navy Fitriani gown with a sculpted top and peplum at the waist.

40-year old English actress Kate Beckinsale graced the red carpet wearing a white dress, but it was her after-party dress that turned heads: a red and black floral mini dress that she wore to the Warner Music Group Grammy Party, spawning positive buzz on Twitter.

The only downside to actress and model’s attire was her black sandals, which seemed too small for her feet, her toes hanging over the front of the shoes.

Though Beckinsale was not a presenter this year, 37-year old Faris presented Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the annual awards ceremony.

While Faris did look stunning on Sunday evening on the carpet and as a presenter, she has previously been marked as “worst dressed” at other ceremonies this year, according to UPI. At the People’s Choice Awards on January 8, she appeared in a gold beaded pantsuit.

“The usually delightful Anna Faris showed up in a washed-out beaded pantsuit last spotted on Rue McClanahan on an early episode of Golden Girls,” wrote The New Jersey Star Ledger.

Faris has become one of the most desired comedic actresses in Hollywood. She is married to actor Chris Pratt. The two have one son together.

  • Kate Beckinsale Has Had Her Share of Nutters

The movie, The Face of an Angel, is going into full swing during the midst of the actual retrial of Amanda Knox, which has caused some to worry that there is a potential for actors in the movie to experience an insane, unprecedented level of attention. However, the movie’s main star (the talented Kate Beckinsale) is not deterred by the intense level of attention.

The actress is popular for starring in the Underworld movies (Underworld: Evolution, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, and Underworld: Awakening) where she was famously clothed in latex.

In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Beckinsale said, “Don’t think I haven’t had my share of nutters. I’ve worn latex head-to-toe in three movies, after all.”

Kate Beckinsale has kept herself abreast of the real-life Amanda Knox trial, and spoke about her own fascination with the case. “I had quite a strong opinion on it, but then the more books I read, the more opaque it felt. It’s very intriguing. The script was not what I was expecting,” she said.

Many wondered what had attracted the popular actress to the controversial role; however, Beckinsale shared the allure to play in such a film. “Playing a bright woman is always a relief. I try to change tack often between big splashy action movies and smaller independent films.”

If Beckinsale, who will play American journalist Barbie Latza Nadeau, is not hindered by the potential for “nutters” or the overwhelming controversy surrounding the case, then what may have possibly deterred her from the role?

“I can’t actually drive, but then I got a call from my manager to say ‘can you learn to drive in the next four days?’ I don’t think it would be a very good idea. I’d probably end up killing myself and others, especially in Rome. Maybe if it was Arkansas or somewhere it would be less daunting,” Beckinsale said.

Fortunately, fans of the beloved beauty will see Beckinsale portray Barbie Latza Nadeau while Italian drivers pick up the slack for the driving scenes.

  • Kate Beckinsale: Will “The Face of An Angel” Star Get Pregnant Again?

We all know that Kate Beckinsale is the sexiest woman in the universe.

Her beautiful curves, angelic face and enchanting smile coupled with her ferocious on screen presence makes her a formidable, even deadly foe. You definitely want to be on the friendly side of Kate, especially when you are out and about trying to navigate the Underworld. If not, you urgently need to start praying for a long life, because she will likely suck your vitality, given that she is a vampire warrior.

So what is Kate up to these days? Her twitter feed has been dormant for more than 21 months. Her last tweet was about…you guessed it right, Underworld: Awakening, for which she thanked her fans profusely:

But now we hear via Deadline that Kate is joining Daniel Bruhl and Cara Delevingne in Michael Winterbottom’s new film, The Face Of An Angel. Paul Viragh has been tapped to write the script, based on the book Angel Face – available at Amazon – by author Barbie Latza Nadeu.

The film is loosely about Amanda Knox, the young American sojourner in Italy, who, along with her boyfriend was accused of brutally murdering her housemate. Her prosecution and travails were obsessively covered by a trivialities enamored media, that habitually shies away from more substantive national and international issues such as inflation, monetary and fiscal crisis.

Beautiful Beckinsale plays a journalist in hot pursuit of the case, and the film’s production will commence in Tuscany, Italy. Kate has never shied away from controversial roles, even if she was required to flaunt three breasts instead of two in Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Total Recall.

Leaving aside Kate’s professional life, fans are curious what exciting developments are happening in her personal life. Beckinsale parted from actor Michael Sheen, who fathered her only child, when she found love with director Len Wiseman. Kate and Len Wiseman are now married for 9 years, and Kate is having two minds (or many minds) about having another baby.

Just last year, after the release of Underworld: Awakening, the 40 year old said that

“At some point the decision will be made for me, when my ovaries dry up and die…We’ll see. There’s nothing that makes me go, ‘And now I must have triplets.’…I got back and forth on it,…I feel very lucky in that we navigated a pretty bumpy situation and that Lily’s OK. So my resistance is along the lines of, ‘Do I want to upset the apple cart?’”

She added: “There’s absolutely part of me that goes, ‘I’d love to have a baby in the relationship I’m in, and have that experience when the relationship’s really good and exclusive,’ but I’m just not sure.”

The vampire seductress is not sure. But with such a beautiful DNA, her starry-eyed fans sure want Kate to have those triplets. And the sooner the better. Because time and tide (and fertility too), wait for none.

  • Kate Beckinsale to Star in Amanda Knox Based Movie

In 2009, American student, Amanda Knox, and her Italian boyfriend, Raffalele Sollecito, were convicted for murdering their British housemate, Meredith Kercher. Since that time, the story has been made into a Lifetime movie and the original conviction has been overturned. Now, the ordeal is going to be made into a film starring Kate Beckinsale.

Based on the book Angel Face: Sex, Murder and the Inside Story of Amanda Knox, by Barbie Latza Nadeau, the movie, entitled The Face of an Angel, will focus on the media portrayal of the events as they unfolded. The movie will not be a direct retelling of the Amanda Knox story, but rather will create a storyline very similar to the events that transpired in Italy in 2007.

Beckinsale has been cast as a journalist trying to get to the bottom of a murder case. The Underworld star will be working alongside Cara Delevingne, who will play the role of the suspect in the murder case (Amanda Knox), and Daniel Bruhl, a documentary film-maker following the case.

Michael Winterbottom, probably best known for his 2002 film 24 Hour Party People, will be directing the movie. (Winterbottom’s biggest career gaffe is perhaps his decision to turn down directing Good Will Hunting for $1.5 million dollars.) BBC Films will be backing the production.

Beckinsale will also be appearing in Eliza Graves soon, alongside such stars as Ben Kingsley, Jim Sturgess, and Michael Caine. One doesn’t want to assume too much, but it’s probably a safe bet that Eliza Graves will fare better for Beckinsale than The Face of an Angel.

To get a feel for what the movie will be about, here is the description of Angel Face, the book the film is adapted from:

Despite all the airtime devoted to Amanda Knox, it’s still hard to reconcile the fresh-faced honor student from Seattle with the sexually rapacious killer convicted of the November 2007 murder of her British roommate. Few Americans have heard all of the powerful evidence that convinced a jury that Knox was one of three people to sexually assault Meredith Kercher, brutalize her body, and cut her throat. In Angel Face, Rome-based Daily Beast senior writer Barbie Latza Nadeau – who cultivated personal relationships with the key figures in both the prosecution and the defense – describes how the Knox family’s heavy-handed efforts to control media coverage distorted the facts, inflamed an American audience, and painted an offensive, inaccurate picture of Italy’s justice system. An eye-opener for any parent considering sending a child away to study, Angel Face reveals what really went on in this incomprehensible crime.

  • Kate Beckinsale Was Almost 3-Boobed Woman

Ask any guy in his 20’s or 30’s what the most memorable moment of the Schwarzenegger flick “Total Recall” was and he’s likely to tell you, “The three-boobed woman” with no hesitation. The film, which came out in 1990 and also starred Sharon Stone, was almost a rite of passage for boys of a certain age. If you hadn’t seen the triple-breasted lady, you hadn’t lived.

When word of the remake got out, a lot of people were left wondering how much of the original film would be kept in, or at least paid homage to, and of course the infamous woman with superior mammary glands was at the top of that list. The director apparently understood the cult icon-status of the character, because she does indeed play a role in the new film, which stars Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, and Jessica Biel.

But one thing a lot of people may not know is that Kate Beckinsale–who isn’t a stranger to showing off her body in skintight vinyl catsuits for the “Underworld” films–was almost cast as the 3-boobed hooker at the suggestion of her husband.

“We’d had a conversation about the fact that I wasn’t available and we were both being very grown-up about it and he said, “Well, maybe, will you play the three-breasted hooker just so that you’re in the movie?”‘ she explained. “And I was like, “OK”, because it had been a very long time since I saw the movie. I’m so glad that I didn’t do that. I mean, she gets more attention than Jessica or me put together. My daughter would die. She’d be so mad at me, going into eighth grade, if I was walking around with three boobs all the time. She’d be really annoyed.”

Eventually, the part went to Kaitlyn Leeb, who debuted her interesting look to Comic-Con fans this year to great reviews. While the film will be rated PG-13, there may be some bonus footage on the DVD not meant for younger eyes; director Len Wiseman says he shot three different versions of the 3-breasted woman just for that purpose.

  • Total Recall Trailer Brings the Explosions, Three-Breasted Aliens

    (image)

The Total Recall trailer currently making the rounds finally gives fans what they want: three-breasted aliens. Sure, we don’t actually get to see this highly-anticipated trio of mammaries in the clip embedded below, but at least you know they’re going to be in the film. What’s sad is that, when the remake was first announced, a lot of people were concerned that the infamous alien found in director Paul Verhoeven’s 1990 sci-fi actioner wouldn’t make an appearance in Len Wiseman’s reimagining. As it turns out, she’s in there. If those three boobies were the only things holding you back from taking a trip to the theater, your time sitting on the fence is over.

If you’ve missed the official synopsis, take a look at this summary:

For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid, even though he’s got a beautiful wife who he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life – real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man as he finds himself on the run from the police.

“Total Recall” stars Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, Bryan Cranston, Bokeem Woodbine, John Cho, and Bill Nighy. The film is currently scheduled to arrive in North American theaters on August 3rd. When you’re ready for explosions, Kate Beckinsale kicking butt, and a brief glimpse of your beloved three-breasted alien, take a look at the trailer embedded below. And remember: The film is probably best enjoyed if you have three hands.
