  • Nicki Minaj Slams Those Who Think Her Booty is Claim to Fame

Nicki Minaj caught wind recently of some critics who seem to think her only claim to fame is her booty. She is insistent that her talent is more than just skin–or derriere–deep.

Following a Twitter conversation about a lack of female rappers, Nicki Minaj had plenty to say.

“Yep, men are visual creatures they don’t care if you can sing…That’s why Nicki had to buy an a– to blow up! #Fact,” the Twitter diss that set the proverbial ball in motion read.

Nicki Minaj then informed the haters that their hate made her success possible.

She then instructed black people to “do better” regarding the implication of the insulting Tweet.

Success keeps coming Nicki Minaj’s way–because of her talent, and not her booty. She earned three Grammy Award nominations this week.

Those Grammy nods definitely weren’t for Nicki Minaj’s booty, either.

  • Kanye West Has Been Working on a Video Game About His Mom

For the past six months, Kanye West has been working on a video game about his mother going to heaven.

He dropped this little tidbit at the conclusion of an interview with Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club, as he was talking about the inspiration behind his track “Only One”.

“Right now I’m working on a video game for ‘Only One’, and the idea is it’s my mother going through the gates of heaven, and you gotta bring her to the highest gates of heaven by holding her to the light,” said West.

“We’ve been workin’ on it for like six months.”

The video game talk starts at about 56 minutes. The whole interview is interesting, however, but you can skip to that if you’re in a hurry.

No word on when the game will be completed. From the sound of it, it’ll be quite a bit different, at least in terms of overall tone, than the video games he used to try to design in middle school.

  • Beyonce and Jay Z, Kim and Kanye: What Sexy Claim Do They Have in Common?

After all the rumor mill heat about Beyonce and Jay Z being on the verge of breaking up, even as they toured together, People Magazine has announced that they have an inside source who says the mill can now stop.

Jay Z and Beyonce have renewed their vows.

“They did have major problems,” the source said. “But they worked it out and they’ve renewed their vows.”

Whether this is an actual renewal ceremony or simply in the sense of a renewed intent to stay together is not known. But another source has revealed that Bey and Jay are house shopping in Paris. They pair are reportedly looking for extravagant homes in gated communities and near palaces.

According to Us Magazine, the couple want their daughter, Blue Ivy, to learn French.

“They want to buy a place in Paris because they have so many memories there and they want to be able to be there more often,” and insider told Us. “They plan on retiring in Paris eventually.”

“We love Paris,” Jay Z told a Paris audience in September. “It’s special to us because we got engaged here, and this is where Blue Ivy was conceived.”

Which brings us to Kim and Kanye.

When that celebrity couple got married in Florence, Italy, they also told the world that it held a special place in their hearts because, as Kanye said, “We conceived our daughter North here, among the masterpieces of the Renaissance. It was our first honeymoon.”

Conceiving babies in exotic European locations, then telling the world where you did the deed. If this catches on, there could be a whole new website dedicated to it, with interactive maps and all.

  • Kanye West Calls ‘SNL’s’ Jay Pharoah About VMAs Comments

Kanye West called Saturday Night Live funny man Jay Pharoah following the MTV VMAs, and he shared part of his conversation with his fans at the Made in America Music Festival. It seems Pharoah cracked some jokes at the MTV VMAs about West that the Keeping Up With the Kardashians family member didn’t appreciate.

“They want to make a joke out of how hard we work,” Kanye said on Saturday. “It’s all fine and all funny and everything, but don’t distract from our vision. It’s not a joke what we do up here. This music that we do is not a joke. What we do culturally is not a joke.”

“I called Jay Pharoah right after the MTV VMA Awards,” West continued. “I said, ‘I appreciate your show, but let me tell you about my story. Let me tell you about what I went through to get to that position.’ So we ain’t gonna have no black comedians going up stage spoofing people that’s working hard to open doors not only for black people, but any creators, anybody that wants to add a contribution to the world.”

Jay Pharoah made fun of Kanye West at the VMAs. He pretended to be Kim Kardashian’s husband and said he ‘created television’ and that his videos ‘cured ALS.’ He even poked fun at Kim Kardashian for her appearance in Kanye West’s music video, ‘Bound 2.’

Fortunately for those attending the Made in America Music Festival, Kanye West ended his rant on a bit of a more positive note.

“When I leave tonight, I want y’all to leave with love,” he told the 90,000 people who attended the event.

How do you think Jay Pharoah will react to Kanye West’s phone call and his rant at the Made in America Music Festival?

SNL fans are no doubt expecting it might open one of the season’s new shows.

  • Kim Kardashian to Leave Wedding Up to Kanye

Kim Kardashian has been one busy lady these last few, well, years. But especially in the last few weeks. Just days after accepting boyfriend Kanye West’s proposal, Kim and Kanye were in Vegas to celebrate her birthday.

Kim stunned in a white corset top and signature form-fitting skirt. She posed with big sister Kourtney Kardashian, “Glee”‘s Naya Rivera, Robin Antin and Blac Chyna for an Instagram moment:

Kardashian has a lot to celebrate this birthday. She is a new mom, has a new fiance, and is living it up around the world with her impressive post-baby body, which was reportedly accomplished through help from the Atkins diet.

As far as her wedding planning goes, what does Kimye plan for the upcoming big day? According to People, she wants to leave it up to the Mr.

“We honestly haven’t had a moment to talk about it or even breathe, so we haven’t really talked about it, but whatever he wants,” she told PEOPLE, adding that the only sure thing is that stepdad Bruce Jenner will walk her down the aisle.

Certainly Kanye can pull off one heck of a wedding if his proposal is any indication of what he’s capable of. Kim claims she had no idea of the grand scheme of the evening when he popped the question. She says the proposal was an “absolute, complete surprise.” Even her family – who had gathered at San Francisco’s AT&T Park – assumed it was for a surprise birthday party. “I was shaking so much, shaking the entire time,” she said. “Like, ‘Is this really happening?’ It was like an out-of-body experience.”

I don’t know about you, but I expect nothing but the extraordinary from a wedding masterminded by Kanye.

  • Kanye Won’t Face Felony Charges for Paparazzi Beatdown

The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office will not be filing felony charges against rapper Kanye West, relating to his scrap with a paparazzo outside of LAX on July 19th. Still, the case went to the city attorney for a potential misdemeanor charge.

As West was walking towards the exit of the airport toward a waiting Mercedes, the paparazzi began hounding him about why he wouldn’t speak to them. West, sporting his best famous-rap-artist male-gaze, initially ignored the baiting, but eventually spoke, claiming that the photographers were trying to get him in trouble.

Below is a clip of the incident:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bAmdABZRCE

LA prosecutors have deemed that the photographer involved in the incident did not recieve any serious injuries, his camera wasn’t stolen and didn’t appear to be broken, West didn’t use a weapon, and since the rapper has no felony record, the charge was reduced to a misdemeanor.

West has had similar encounters with paparazzi at Los Angeles International Airport in the past, and just a week before asked to have the cameras taken out of his face. It’s not uncommon for a paparazzo to post up outside of a terminal, waiting for celebrities to walk by, in hopes of getting a picture, soundbite or even a punch in the face, which can foster a lucrative lawsuit. The paparazzo shown in the above video seems to have enrolled in some Tinseltown acting classes, aptly portraying a sort of epic death-rattle, after his savage beating at the hands of Kanye.

In related news, West and partner Kim Kardashian have been said to have turned down offers of up to $3 million for exclusive pictures of baby North West, the couple’s first born.

  • Kanye West Sued Over ‘Gold Digger’ Sample

Kanye West Sued Over ‘Gold Digger’ Sample

As Kanye West prepares to become a parent and expends his mental energy on crafting joke names for his progeny, he certainly doesn’t have time to go to court over one of his biggest hit songs.

TMZ is reporting that a lawsuit has been filed over West’s 2005 hit ‘Gold Digger’. The lawsuit claims that West sampled a small portion of a 1974 Thunder & Lightning song titled ‘Bumpin’ Bus Stop’. Thunder & Lightning singer David Pryor wrote and sang the song, and now his children are suing West for his use of the sample. Trena Steward and Lorenzo Pryor are suing for money and an injunction on sales of ‘Gold Digger’.

The sample in question comes from the beginning of ‘Gold Digger’. As West is saying “Get down girl, go ‘head, get down,” a voice in the background can be heard saying “get down” repeatedly. Steward and Pryor claim this is sampled from ‘Bumpin’ Bus Stop.’ The sample comes in at around the 33-second mark in the ‘Gold Digger’ video below:

  • Kim K. On Kimmel: Baby Won’t Be On T.V.

Kim K. On Kimmel: Baby Won’t Be On T.V.

Kim Kardashian dropped a bombshell on Tuesday night when talking to Jimmy Kimmel about baby Kimye and whether he/she will appear on “Keeping Up With The Kardashians”. The answer is a big fat “No.”

“I love seeing [Kourtney’s kids], Mason and Penelope on TV [and] Mason is the highlight of our show, I think. It’s a tough decision [but] as of now, that’s just a personal choice that Kanye and I have made…We’re going to try to keep it as private as possible.”

Shock me, shock me, shock me, Kim! One would have thought that Kris Jenner would demand she let that baby star on the show to bring in curious viewers, but maybe Kanye is putting his foot down.

“When he or she decides that’s what they want to do, then that will be a decision,” Kim said.

Ahhh, there it is. They’re going to let the kid decide when he/she is older. How long does she expect “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” to be on the air, anyway?

  • Fancy Launches New Commerce Platform

New York startup Fancy, an online catalog and high-end Pinterest competitor, today added a social commerce platform that allows brands and merchants to sell products directly on the site. Fancy has roughly 250,000 users, compared to Pinterest‘s over 10 million, but maintains some competitive advantages.

Fancy, where users can go an “fancy” things they like, is endorsed by PPR, the French conglomerate that owns fashion brands such as Gucci and Bottega Veneta. Kanye West likes it, and Twitter cofounder Jack Dorsey and original Facebooker Chris Hughes are the board of directors, according to Fast Company. Fancy still exudes an air of exclusivity, with a tight-knit community of curators posting top-notch content, which users can now buy and sell in real time.

“People are ‘Fancy-ing’ what they like, forming communities around these products or experiences, and now we allow merchants and brands to come in and fill that interest and demand in real-time, which no one is doing,” founder Joseph Einhorn tells Fast Company. He adds, “rather than go to Amazon or Google and searching for stuff I intend to buy, I’m able to go to this website, where I’m finding out about the coolest stuff in the world, and instead of clicking, signing up, and giving my address and contact info to a million different websites, I am able to shop right inside, whether it’s on the website or the iPad, iPhone, or Android app, and go all the way through to checkout in an integrated experience.” Einhorn calls this a demand-driven commerce model, and a “groupon in reverse.” Merchants are able to monitor what customers are most interested in, and then adjust what they’re selling, according to this interest.

Users will now be getting used to a “sell” button on Fancy’s interface. Sellers will be able to group their wares by price, print shipping labels, monitor transactions and set up group deals. Einhorn gave a thumbs up to Pinterest for the site’s growth of late, but points out that Fancy caters to higher-end products and doesn’t feature much by the way of non-commerce related content.
