  • Jennifer Lawrence Uses Her Fame as an Excuse to Stay In

Jennifer Lawrence is a huge homebody. She’d rather be home than anywhere else. Nowadays the Hunger Games and Joy star can’t go anywhere without being recognized, and she loves it–but not for the reason you might think.

“I’m a total homebody,” she said in a recent interview with NPR. “I’m always looking for excuses not to go out. I can now use fame as an excuse.” She laughs, “and I do.”

Jennifer Lawrence considered not taking on the role of Katniss Everdeen because she feared the franchise might become so big that her parents would have to move to a different home to ensure their privacy.

She took the role, however, and her parents wound up moving.

“I mostly just said, ‘You know what? I love this character. I love this movie. I believe in it, and I’m going to say ‘yes’ for the same reasons that I would say ‘yes’ to any indie,’” Jennifer Lawrence says.

Lawrence’s latest film, Joy, is about the woman known for creating the Miracle Mop.

“A lot of people have inventions or they have ideas and then they bring it to somebody else and they say, ‘I have this idea [but] I don’t know how to make it,’” Jennifer Lawrence says. “But Joy grew up in a metal garage, so she was in complete control of all of her creations.”

If you’ve ever seen Jennifer Lawrence as a talk show guest (and who hasn’t?) you know she has an incredible sense of humor. Can you fathom that the actress using her fame as an excuse to stay home? Wouldn’t you imagine Jennifer Lawrence would love being the life of the party instead?

  • Amy Schumer: Why BFF Jennifer Lawrence Wants Her to Win Golden Globe

Amy Schumer and BFF Jennifer Lawrence were both nominated for the same Golden Globe. Don’t worry, there won’t be a rivalry between the two friend over who should win. In fact, Jennifer Lawrence wants Amy Schumer to win–instead of winning herself.

When the nominations were announced, the Joy star said she didn’t even realize Amy Schumer was nominated for the same award.

“That was so amazing because obviously I only pay attention to myself, so I was like oh I got nominated, and then when she texted and said something about the same category I was like – are you, what, like–huh?” she said during an interview with etalk.

Both Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer received nominations in the Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy category. Schumer got hers for Trainwreck and Lawrence, got hers for Joy.

Lawrence, a Golden Globe veteran, wants Amy Schumer to win.

“I genuinely don’t want it–would love to see her sweet ass up on that stage,” she said on Monday.

She added that a win for Amy Schumer would be a very positive thing for the film the two are writing together.

“So obviously I’m pulling for her. Selfishly, it would be good for our movie if she won, so vote for Amy,” Lawrence said.

Last week Jennifer Lawrence said she wanted to dress exactly like Amy Schumer at the Golden Globes.

These two sound like fabulous friends. Wouldn’t you love to be invited to drop in on the ladies’ night fun and see how hilarious they are together?

  • Jennifer Lawrence Laments That She Is Working So Much That She Is ‘Aging Like a President’

Jennifer Lawrence is the highest paid actress for so many reasons, and one of those is her work ethic.

The 25-year-old actress, who topped the Forbes 2015 highest paid actress by banking $52 million, has maintained a busy schedule since The Hunger Games first premiered in 2012. Her initial turn as Katniss Everdeen made her a megastar, but it was her hard work that has kept her as the A-list actress in Hollywood.

However, Jennifer Lawrence concedes that the intense work schedule has its own set of pitfalls.

“I try to keep working so people can see other characters and other things I can do instead of taking vacation time, and now I’m aging like a president,” Lawrence said at a press conference for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 on Saturday. “I hate waking up without a goal or going to sleep without achieving nothing.”

Lawrence said her popularity has allowed her the privilege of being picky when it comes to roles and she made a plat to prioritized taking on diverse roles in the wake of The Hunger Games to broaden her appeal.

That decision led Jennifer to a slew of roles of late, including her upcoming role in Joy, her third collaboration with director David O. Russell in four years.

“I remember there have been a few times where I would have loved time off,” she said. “But I was very aware of how overwhelming these movies and this character was, and that was a big fear of mine signing on to these movies.”

In Joy, Lawrence plays a single mother and inventor in the film, and ages through 40 years old. “David gets visions,” she told the New York Times of the casting. “He’s in his own beautiful, amazing world. Those kinds of silly questions [about age] don’t really matter to him. It’s not like I was old enough for American Hustle. And I was way too young for Silver Linings Playbook. That’s why I almost didn’t get it.”

After Joy, Jennifer Lawrence will star with Chris Pratt in the sci-fi film Passengers, in another X-Men movie out next summer and is attached to star in Darren Aronofsky’s next film.

  • Jennifer Lawrence: Why Was She Screaming At Director David O. Russell?

The collaboration between director David O. Russell and actress Jennifer Lawrence seems to be one of the most fruitful ones in recent years. Their work on Silver Linings Playbook led to a Best Actress Oscar award for Lawrence, and singlehandedly restored Russell’s status as one of Hollywood’s most unique filmmakers. They teamed up again for the critically-acclaimed crime caper, American Hustle, proving that there is indeed something to this collaboration. Now, Lawrence and Russell are working together again in Joy, a biopic about Miracle Mop inventor Joy Mangano. However, rumors started circulating that there is trouble onset between Lawrence and Russell.

A source told reporters, “He was screaming at her. She was screaming at him. It was loud.” However, a publicist for the film dismissed it as a simple case of method acting. “There was no fight. David is very passionate. He yells lines back at actors. He gets right in the scene with them. This scene was a big argument. Jennifer had a crying baby in her arms. There was a lot of screaming and yelling,” the publicist said. Lawrence herself dismissed the rumors by posting a status update on her Facebook page. “There’s been a terrible rumor going around the last 24 hours so I wanted to clear it up,” Lawrence wrote. “David O. Russell is one of my closest friends and we have an amazing collaborative working relationship. I adore this man and he does not deserve this tabloid malarkey. This movie is going great and I’m having a blast making it”

Russell is known for his volatile meltdowns on the set of his films, as evidenced by his infamous fight with Lily Tomlin on the set of his existentialist comedy I Heart Huckabees. It was also rumored that he and George Clooney were on bad terms during the filming of Three Kings. Joy is a Silver Linings Playbook reunion of sorts, with Bradley Cooper and Robert de Niro also being part of the cast.

  • Jennifer Lawrence to Star in ‘Joy’

Jennifer Lawrence is set to play the role of Miracle Mop inventor Joy Mangano in an upcoming film called Joy. Due out on Christmas Day 2015, the film will be directed by David O. Russell.

Jennifer Lawrence and the director have worked together before and they’ve enjoyed great success as a result of their prior collaborations. He directed Silver Linings Playbook for which she won an Oscar and American Hustle for which she received an Oscar nomination.

The new film will tell the tale of the single mom from Long Island who became famous both for her mop–it allowed people to clean their floors without getting their hands dirty–as well as for her presence on TV shopping networks.

“He recently texted me at, I think, 4 in the morning, and was like, ‘I think I want to make a movie about the woman who invented the [Miracle] Mop. You want to do it?’ And I was like, yeah,” Jennifer Lawrence said.

She added, “I could just imagine David looking at somebody mopping and being like, ‘Yeah, that’s my next screenplay.'”

Jennifer Lawrence is presently busy filming parts one and two of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay . Her role as Katniss Everdeen is really what launched her career, taking her from smaller roles to starring in A-list films.

Some may question how interesting or exciting a film about a woman who invented a mop might be, however if David O. Russell is directing and he has signed someone as sought after as Jennifer Lawrence for the leading role then the story must be well worth telling. Lawrence is clearly a very diverse actress who doesn’t disappoint.

  • Jennifer Lawrence Lands Role in Biopic ‘Joy’

In a move which proves that Hollywood is absolutely obsessed with Jennifer Lawrence and that they believe anyone will watch anything as long as she is starring in it, director David Russell has signed The Hunger Games actress to star in his new biopic, Joy.

Joy portrays the story of Joy Mangano, a Long Island housewife turned inventor and Home Shopping Network mogul. Mangano began her entrepreneurship through the creation of a fluorescent flea collar while volunteering at an animal clinic. Unfortunately for Mangano, Hartz released a similar product soon after, leading Mangano to vow that she would take her next invention to market as soon as she could.

That invention became the Miracle Mop – a mop with interlocking handles which would allow one to wring water out of the mop without dirtying one’s hands. Since the mop hit shelves in 1990, it has sold over five million units. The mop-selling business was not always so lucrative, however. Mangano began by selling the mops locally, and hit her big break when she sold the 10,000 mops to QVC. While sales of the mop were stagnant at first, it was Mangano’s spirit which led to record-breaking sales of the mops: ”I asked them to let me go on the air and demonstrate it myself. I knew I could sell it if I could show people what I had in mind when I designed it and how well it really worked,” Mangano recalled. Her pitch turned out better than anyone could have expected, with QVC selling 18,000 mops in 20 minutes.

Now, Mangano is the president of Ingenious Designs, Inc., which is now owned by USA Networks and the Home Shopping Network, upon which one can often find Mangano selling her inventions.

While Mangano’s story seems to be the typical, heart-warming rags-to-riches story, it may violate many Hollywood expectations when it hits theaters on Christmas Day next year. David Russell, Oscar-nominated director of The Fighter, Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, will direct Lawrence for his third time, while the script will be written by Annie Mumolo, co-writer of the comedy Bridesmaids.

For Lawrence, the decision to play the part of Joy Mangano in Russell’s newest film was a no brainer. Lawrence has worked with Russell on both Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, winning the Best Actress Oscar for the former and a Best Supporting Actress nomination for the latter. On Good Morning America, Lawrence expressed how simple the decision was:

He recently texted me at, I think, 4 in the morning, and was like, ‘I think I want to make a movie about the woman who invented the [Miracle] Mop. You want to do it?’ And I was like, yeah… I could just imagine David looking at somebody mopping and being like, ‘Yeah, that’s my next screenplay.’

The combination of Russell and Lawrence is seemingly undefeatable at the box office, but producer Fox has chosen a competitive weekend on which to release the film, with Kung Fu Panda 3 and Mission: Impossible 5 opening on the same date (and only one week after Star Wars Episode VII). However, if all goes as expected, one can expect to see Lawrence and Russell racking up the Oscars once again.
