Anna Kendrick recently told Elle magazine that she hasn’t been hit on in five years.
Difficult as it may be to believe, Kendrick said she “honest to God” hasn’t been hit on since 2009’s Up in the Air, the romantic drama she starred in alongside George Clooney, Jason Bateman, and Vera Farmiga.
The 28-year-old actress, singer, and social media star downplays her sex appeal: “I’ve never felt like I’ve exactly traded on my looks.”
She called herself a ultra-late bloomer, not surprisingly putting a humorous spin on it in her Elle interview:
“… it means you never have to wonder if guys are only interested in you because you’ve got boobs.”
Kendrick says that spilled over into her acting career.
“Similarly, I think I’m lucky that I’ve never had a crisis about whether the only reason I’m successful is because I’m crazy hot. It’s not something that crosses my mind.”
Crazy hot or not, Kendrick is enjoying tremendous success right now.
When she was just 12-years-old the Portland, Maine native earned a Tony award nomination for her performance in the Broadway musical High Society. It was Kendrick’s first acting role, and things only went up from there.
After nabbing a supporting role in the movie adaptation of Stephanie Meyer’s best-selling young adult novel Twilight, Kendrick went on to receive Oscar, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild award nominations for her performance in Up in the Air.
Kendrick put her vocal talent to work in the 2012 musical comedy Pitch Perfect. She recorded “Cups” for the film’s soundtrack and the song spent 44 weeks on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.
In April Kendrick made her Saturday Night Live debut with well-received spoofs of Disney classics Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid.
Fast Company named Kendrick number eight on their list of the “100 Most Creative People in Business 2014” and she boasts over 1.4 million followers on Instagram and more than 2.5 million on Twitter.
What’s up next for Kendrick?
She says she wants to take a break from filming musicals as soon as she wraps Pitch Perfect 2.
At a February screening for The Last Five Years, a musical costarring Jeremy Jordan, Kendrick said “I never want to sing again, honestly. It’s hard as f-ck.”
She said going directly from The Last Five Years to Into the Woods in which she stars as Cinderella opposite Emily Blunt, Johnny Depp, Chris Pine, and Meryl Streep was just too much.
“I was like, ‘I don’t want to have to think about my voice so much.’ I want to be able to drink beer whenever I want.”
Finding non-musical roles hasn’t proved a problem for Kendrick. She’s set to appear alongside Jennifer Aniston in Cake and Orlando Bloom in Digging for Fire.
After that she’ll move on to Mr. Right with Sam Rockwell (Glory Daze) and The Hollars with John Krasinski (The Office.)
