  • Katie Couric Talks Wedding With Savannah Guthrie

Katie Couric sat down with The Today Show’s Savannah Guthrie on Wednesday morning and talked about her recent wedding to John Molner. She even shared some beautiful wedding photos of the bride and groom and their respective children.

“I just wasn’t nervous at all,” Katie told Savannah. “For someone who is generally hyper, I was incredibly relaxed.”

Katie and John walked down the aisle together to “Til There Was You,” which was performed by a string quartet in the backyard of Couric’s East Hampton home. Yes, it defied tradition, but there hasn’t been much traditional about Katie Couric since she was widowed and left to raise two girls, bury a sister in later years, and climb to heights where no other female journalist has gone.

Katie’s first husband Jay Monahan died in 1998 of colon cancer. She has since become a huge crusader for awareness and colonoscopies. She is also active in raising funds for both colon cancer and pancreatic cancer, which took her sister Emily’s life in recent years. She is an active part of Stand Up To Cancer, a fundraising telecast that airs on September 5th on the NBC, Bravo, Oxygen, and E! networks. This is the fourth such cancer fundraising event.

Katie Couric told Savannah Guthrie about choosing her wedding dress just days before her wedding and about how her new husband was actually a big part of the planning because she was so busy with work commitments.

It was the wedding photos that Savannah–and viewers at home–were no doubt most eager to see, however, and Katie joked about a huge montage the TODAY Show displayed–asking if she could take it home with her after her interview.

It’s hard not to be happy for Katie Couric. She has lost so much in her life, yet remained so positive throughout it all. It was plain to see that Savannah Guthrie was positively glowing with happiness for Katie during their interview–or was that perhaps due to her pregnancy instead?

Congrats to Katie Couric on her wedding and the happiness she deserves.

  • Katie Couric Shares Beautiful Wedding Photos

Katie Couric has shared a few of her beautiful wedding photos with NBC’s TODAY.

The 57-year-old former TODAY cohost told Savannah Guthrie on Wednesday she couldn’t wait to marry John Molner and felt more relaxed than she dreamed possible.

“I just wasn’t nervous at all,” said Couric. “For someone who is generally hyper, I was incredibly relaxed.”

The bride and groom walked down the aisle together while a string quartet played the Broadway song Til There Was You. The ceremony took place in the backyard of her home in East Hampton, New York, on June 21, and was a very intimate affair.

A second marriage for both Couric and Molner, their union was celebrated in a laid-back ceremony that was primarily planned by her 51-year-old new husband.

Couric joked with Guthrie, saying she was “very glad that Matt and Howard Stern did not crash.”

The Yahoo! Global News anchor wore an ivory crystal beaded and embroidered Chantilly lace halter gown designed by Carmen Marc Valvo. Daughters Ellie, 22, and Carrie, 17, joined Molner’s children, Allie and Henry, and 50 guests, to celebrate the wedding.

Couric’s visit to her former show was an opportunity to talk about the fourth Stand Up To Cancer fundraiser, which will be simulcast Sept. 5 on 30 networks, including NBC, Bravo, Oxygen and E!

Couric has been a staunch supporter of cancer research ever since she lost her first husband, Jay Monahan, to colon cancer in 1998.

  • Katie Couric Marries John Molner

    Katie Couric Marries John Molner

On Saturday, June 21, Katie Couric married her fiancé John Molner during an intimate ceremony in East Hampton, New York.

The couple, who got engaged in September 2013 after dating for two years, said their nuptials in Couric’s backyard in front of 50 of their closest friends and family members.

“We wanted to keep the wedding just very low-key,” Couric told PEOPLE. “This is not my first rodeo so I didn’t want to go too crazy and neither did John.”

The wedding was a family affair, and primary planned by John himself. “I call John ‘Groomzilla!’ ” Couric laughed. “We’re a very modern couple.” The wedding featured readings from Molner’s children, Allie and Henry, and Couric’s children, Ellie and Carrie.

Couric wore a beautiful ivory beaded and embroidered Chantilly lace halter gown by Carmen Marc Valvo that she chose only one week prior to the wedding. Couric had such a hard time deciding on a dress that she had to call in John to help her make the final decision.

“I hope this isn’t bad luck but I actually tried it on for him,” she admitted. “I tried on a number of dresses and I was so busy, I had a crazy spring.” Crazy may be an understatement. Not only did Couric embark on her new job as a Yahoo! News Global Anchor, she released a new documentary titled Fed Up and celebrated her daughter Carrie’s graduation.

Following the ceremony, Couric took to Twitter to share a photo of her big day. “So excited to make my debut as Mrs. John Molner!” she tweeted alongside the photo.

    Congratulations to the happy couple!

  • Katie Couric Gets Married: Small Ceremony in the Hamptons

Katie Couric got married on Saturday. She and fiance John Molner tied the knot in a small ceremony in the backyard of her summer home in the Hamptons. In a twist of wedding preparations the groom did most of the planning for the big day.

“I call John ‘Groomzilla!’ ” Katie Couric joked. “We’re a very modern couple.”

The beloved former anchor of The TODAY Show and first woman to anchor the CBS Evening News, Couric recently embarked on a new endeavor as a Yahoo! News Global Anchor. She has also been working on releasing a new documentary about obesity. All this work left very little time for play, meaning John really did plan most of the couple’s wedding. Katie even asked him for help in picking out her wedding dress.

“I hope this isn’t bad luck but I actually tried it on for him,” Couric said during an interview prior to their wedding. “I tried on a number of dresses and I was so busy. I had a crazy spring.”

She wound up walking down her back yard aisle in an ivory beaded and embroidered Chantilly lace halter gown by Carmen Marc Valvo

Katie Couric’s daughters Ellie and Carrie Monahan–who are 22 and 18, respectively–gave readings during the ceremony in front of about 50 close personal friends and family members, as did John Molner’s children Allie and Henry. Carrie Monahan sang during the ceremony.

Couric and Molner got engaged back in September 2013 following a two-year courtship. She was married for several years to Jay Monahan who died of colon cancer in 1998. Molner is divorced. Since being widowed Katie Couric has performed a balancing act of sorts–working in very high profile positions while being a very hands on mother and a crusader for colon cancer awareness and screening.

Congratulations to both Katie Couric and John Molner. Katie’s fans are no doubt thrilled for the dearly loved TV personality and hard-hitting journalist. May they enjoy many happy years as husband and wife.

  • Katie Couric Will Marry John Molner This Summer

Katie Couric is finally talking about when she’ll marry her fiancé John Molner.

Couric attended Howard Stern’s 60th birthday bash at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on Friday night. When the outspoken, often controversial shock jock asked when she and Molner would tie the knot, Couric answered “Summer!”

Couric and Molner were introduced by a mutual friend and went public with their romance in April 2012. Molner proposed over Labor Day weekend 2013 while the couple were watching the sun set on a beach in East Hampton, NY.

Following their engagement, Molner surprised Couric by making an appearance on her daytime talk show just moments after Couric had told Barbara Walters that Molner would never want to be on the show.

Walters – also a surprise guest on the show that day – asked Couric to tell viewers about Molner.

“First of all, the quality I look for in a person is integrity and someone who’s honorable and loyal and has … just really terrific core values … and I think he’s all those things,” Couric said. “And you know what, he’s really funny. He makes me laugh all the time.”

Molner is head of mergers and acquisitions at Brown Brothers Harriman, a Chicago-based investment bank and securities firm. Originally from Chicago, he currently resides in New York City.

Of Molner’s Windy City origins, Couric has said, “He’s from Chicago. I love Midwesterners!”

Couric has had a few serious relationships in the years since her husband, attorney and NBC legal analyst Jay Monahan died of colon cancer in 1998, including one with TV producer and Boston Red Sox chairman Tom Werner.

“It’s actually surprising to me that it has been almost 15 years and I haven’t remarried. I think life is more fun when you have someone in your life. And I always wanted to find a father figure for my daughters, but it hasn’t worked out that way. I’ve had long-term relationships, but they haven’t turned into lifelong partners,” Couric told More magazine in January 2013.

Couric told Stern that the wedding would be family only, but assured him that he would be invited to the party afterward.

Last week at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, UT Couric told reporters that Molner is actually in charge of planning the wedding, which will “just be a small dinner in New York.”

“It’s not like I’m 22 and I’m going to plan a big thing with a big fluffy fancy dress,” she said soon after the engagement. “I want to do something that feels right for us and our situation … We both have kids and I think I want to do what’s tasteful and right.”
