  • Jodie Foster Stalker Walks the Streets Tailed by Secret Service

Jodie Foster may not give her former stalker another thought nowadays. It’s been over 30 years since the troubled man formed his obsession with her, then set out to impress her.

But Jodie Foster’s stalker is different from most others. Only Jodie Foster can say that her stalker shot a United States president.

The name John Hinckley is much more associated with the shooting of President Reagan than with Jodie Foster, but that is where the whole thing started.

In fact, the psychiatric team that examined Hinckley commented on his obsession with her.

“Her presence dominates every interview; it is conceivable that he could spend every minute of every interview speaking about her.”

They spoke about how his obsession with Foster continued to grow after he shot President Reagan.

“Before the shooting, he experienced ambivalent feelings and fantasies about her, but then his positive feelings dominated. On March 30, 1982, when Ms. Foster gave her deposition and ignored him even though they were in the same courtroom, his negative feelings became much stronger and have continued to the present day. For Mr. Hinckley, it is better to be hated by Jodie Foster than not to have an attachment at all. He believes that she has become attached forever in history to him because of his shooting of the President.

“In the more recent past, he has expressed sexual and aggressive ideas about Ms. Foster. He has more frequent thoughts of murdering her; he now has thoughts of raping her. Following Ms. Foster’s deposition on March 30, 1982, he wrote a poem, entitled ”Bloody Love.’ In this writing, he imagines himself visiting Jodie in New Haven. She is surprised and frightened: ‘She is scared to death about me. She knew I had bad intentions in my eyes. She couldn’t come to me so I raped her and killed her and shot myself.’ (The sequence of rape, consummation, murder and suicide is described as ‘perfect love.’ He removes them from a corrupt society and they can be happy in the hereafter.) When asked if he were dangerous to Jodie, he replied, ‘Not now, if released I would go the other way but in one or two years if things go on the same, no response from her then I’ll kill her.’”

John Hinckley spends 17 days per month outside of the walls of the psychiatric centers he was confined to for decades. Those days are usually spent at his mother’s home in Williamsburg, Virginia. The home overlooks a golf course in a gated community. Some residents are nrevous about his being there, but most seem not to care.

His doctors have insisted for many years that he is no longer a threat — not to the president, and not to Jodie Foster. Still, the Secret Service frequently follows Hinckley when he goes out. He is also not allowed near the president or members of Congress.

  • Amal Clooney Headed to Columbia Law School

Amal Clooney, the woman who broke hearts around the world by turning George Clooney into a married man, is headed for New York’s Columbia Law School. She will lecture on human rights law at the school this spring as a senior fellow with the Law School’s Human Rights Institute.

“It is an honor to be invited as a visiting professor at Columbia Law School alongside such a distinguished faculty and talented student pool,” Amal Clooney said in a statement released by the law school. “I look forward to getting to know the next generation of human rights advocates studying here.”

Amal Clooney has a very impressive and diverse resume. She served as a senior adviser to Kofi Annan when he was the UN’s envoy on Syria, and she represented WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in his extradition proceedings. She has also handled cases before the International Criminal Court, the International Court of Justice, and the European Court of Human Rights, as well as in domestic courts both in the U.S. and the U.K.

Professor Sarah H. Cleveland is the Louis Henkin professor of human and constitutional rights and faculty co-director of the Human Rights Institute at Columbia.

“We are privileged to have an international human rights practitioner of Amal Clooney’s stature join our faculty,” she said in a recent statement. “Her extensive experience advocating before UN and regional human rights mechanisms complements our existing offerings and will enrich the experience of our students.”

This opportunity for Amal Clooney–as well as the opportunity for those to study under her at Columbia–comes at a most opportune time. She and George Clooney are making their home in New York for the next few months as George films the upcoming movie Money Monster under the direction of Jodie Foster.

Can you imagine how many Columbia students (mostly female, too) will flock to the campus while Amal Clooney is there, in hopes of catching a glimpse of her handsome husband?

  • Jodie Foster Shares Her Life-Changing Moment While Accepting Athena Film Festival Lifetime Achievement Award

Jodie Foster Shares Her Life-Changing Moment While Accepting Athena Film Festival Lifetime Achievement Award

Jodie Foster spoke on the important role women have in the film industry while receiving the 2015 Athena Film Festival’s lifetime achievement award Thursday at Barnard College in New York.

“When I was growing up in the film business, I never saw a woman’s face,” Foster said. “Sometimes it would be a lady who played my mom. Occasionally, it would be a makeup artist, but most often it would really just be me and the script supervisor. Little by little, as time went on, a few female faces came onto crews, and it changed everything…Men [who were my] fathers and brothers, little by little, women came into their world and suddenly the family was a more realistic family.”

Jodie Foster praised Sherry Lansing and the late producer Laura Ziskin, who spent five years as Fox 2000 president. The Athena Film Festival’s Lifetime Achievement Award is named after Ziskin.

“Really great women who could be at the forefront of…change in the industry,” Foster said.

Although Jodie Foster always had the desire to direct, she said she never felt like she had the right to even contemplate the idea because she didn’t think female directors existed.

“There I was a young girl wanting to be a director and never seeing a female director’s face,” said Foster. “I thought it was something…I would never be allowed to do.”

It wasn’t until her mother took her to a film festival featuring the work of Lina Wertmuller that Jodie Foster “came to realize that I could be a woman director if I wanted to because there was one out there, and that was a life-changing moment for me.”

  • Jodie Foster Finally Sells Hollywood Home

Jodie Foster Finally Sells Hollywood Home

Jodie Foster first listed her Hollywood home back in June of 2013–for $6.399 million. In September of 2013 she dropped the price to $5.995 million. She still didn’t find a buyer for the 6,000-square-foot Spanish-style home. In the spring of 2014, Foster once again listed the house–with a new agency–for $5.75 million. She finally sold it for what the Wall Street Journal reports as about $5 million.

Once Jodie Foster’s primary residence, the home was a lot like the very private actress. It featured a surround of lush hedges and an entrance in the back. It has a wall just off the dining room that opens to a beautiful outdoor–very secluded–courtyard. With five bedrooms and six bathrooms, Foster had plenty of room for friends and family to visit, but because of the rather secluded image she portrayed to her public, what took place when the actress lived there is relatively unknown.

The home was built in 1935, and was previously owned by actress and fashion model Cheryl Tiegs. The identity of the home’s newest owners hasn’t yet been released.

Conrad Hitchcock of Hilton & Hyland represented the buyers. He didn’t identify the buyers, but noted they loved the home’s “Spanish charm.” He also added that the home requires “very little work.”

“Jodie has taken immaculate care of it,” he said.

Forbes reports that Jodie Foster owns a Hollywood mansion that she purchased in 2012 for $11,750,000. It is noted that she wasn’t living in the Spanish-style home at the time of its sale.

Jodie Foster has long led a fairly reclusive private life. She will long be remembered for outing herself during an emotional speech as she accepted a lifetime achievement award at the 2013 Golden Globes. She married Alexandra Hedison in April of this year.

Hopefully Jodie Foster and her wife are enjoying the privacy wherever they may be living now that she once enjoyed in her Spanish-style home–not to mention the $5 million she just reeled in from the sale.

  • Jodie Foster Headed To “Hannibal”?

Jodie Foster took on a pretty challenging role when she signed on to do The Silence Of The Lambs, but she tackled it with fervor and garnered a huge fan base among horror lovers in the process. Now, it’s rumored that she’s thinking about working on NBC’s Hannibal, which is based on the same characters Thomas Harris created for his books and the film.

“At last night’s HBO Emmy party, I just so happened to overhear the genius showrunner ask the original Hannibal movie star if she would be willing to come and direct the series during its third season, which is set to begin production next week. Jodie was noncommittal, but said she’d think it over,” wrote E! News reporter Kristen Dos Santos.

Season three will take place one year after season two’s finale, and executive producer Bryan Fuller says it’s going to feel like an entirely new show.

Foster attended the Emmy Awards with new bride Alexandra Hedison; the actress was nominated for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series for her work on the Netflix powerhouse Orange Is The New Black. The couple were reportedly only together a few short months before tying the knot.

  • James Brady, Former Reagan Press Secretary, Dies at 73

James Brady, the former press secretary to Ronald Reagan who was permanently disabled in a 1981 assassination attempt on the president, has died.

“Jim touched the lives of so many and has been a wonderful husband, father, friend and role model,” his family said in a statement. “We are enormously proud of Jim’s remarkable accomplishments – before he was shot on the fateful day in 1981 while serving at the side of President Ronald Reagan and in the days, months and years that followed. Jim Brady’s zest for life was apparent to all who knew him, and despite his injuries and the pain he endured every day, he used his humor, wit and charm to bring smiles to others and make the world a better place.”

Brady was among four people, including Reagan, shot by John Hinckley, Jr. on March 30, 1981. Brady suffered a serious head wound in the attempt and most media outlets reported that Brady had died that afternoon. Hinckley later said he made the attempt on the president to get the attention of actress Jodie Foster.

When Brady’s friend, ABC News anchorman Frank Reynolds, was forced to retract the report, he famously yelled on-air to his staff, “C’mon, let’s get it nailed down!”

Brady survived the hours-long operation following the shooting but was left with slurred speech and partial paralysis. He was in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. The wound effectively ended his career as White House Press Secretary, although he remained in the position until the end of Reagan’s first term. Larry Speakes and Marlin Fitzwater performed his duties in his stead.

Brady and his wife, Sarah, worked tirelessly over the years for the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence — formerly known as Handgun Control, Inc., which was co-founded by N.T. Pete Shields.

Brady became a frequent lobbyist for stricter handgun control and assault weapon restrictions. The “Brady Bill”, or more formally, the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act, was named in his honor.

The White House press briefing room is also named for the former press secretary.

  • George Clooney Stars, Jodie Foster Directs ‘Money Monster’

Clooney is set to star in a film called Money Monster that will be directed by Jodie Foster. The film will follow a TV show host named Lee Gates (played by Clooney) who gets taken hostage by a gunman while on the air and is forced to reveal high-stakes secrets to his audience (that increases quickly as the plot ensues) in order to survive.

Jodie Foster most recently directed an episode of the Netflix political thriller House of Cards. This isn’t the first film she has directed either. In fact she has three movies under her belt, including 2011’s The Beaver starring Mel Gibson and Jennifer Lawrence. She scored an Emmy nod in 2013 for directing an episode of Orange Is the New Black. This will be her first time directing George Clooney, however, and the combination of this actor and that director is intriguing.

George Clooney is, of course, preparing for his upcoming marriage to Amal Alamuddin. Now that tabloid rumors about her family being against the marriage have decreased significantly, it is hopeful that Hollywood’s long-running bachelor is living in reasonable peace.

Of course when one is an actor with the appeal of George Clooney, that means finding alluring roles. And this one in Money Monster sounds like it’s right up his alley. It sounds like others feel he’s perfect for the role, too.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to start our Money Monster adventure alongside such a talented and passionate team,” Jodie Foster said during a recent interview. “[Chairman] Tom Rothman and TriStar really get the movie and are the best cheerleaders our filmmaking team could hope for.”

TriStar Productions has gained the rights to Money Monster, and is set to start filming in 2015. George Clooney will be a married man by then.

“It is impossible to resist saying that we at TriStar hit the talent jackpot today. We are deeply grateful to all the exceptional people involved. There is no one in the business whose talent, dedication and intelligence, I respect more than Jodie Foster,” TriStar Productions Chairman Tom Rothman said. “And, as the bonus coupon on this blue chip investment, we get to enjoy George Clooney in a tour de force acting part. I have no doubt that his collaboration with Jodie will produce an iconic and cool film.”

George Clooney To Star In Money Monster

George Clooney is set to star in the thriller Money Monster, directed by Jodie Foster.

The 53-year-old actor will star as Lee Gates, a television host who gives financial advice on his show titled Money Monster. Gates is later taken hostage by a man who has lost everything, and he must reveal high-stakes secrets on air to keep himself alive. Through the scandal, his television ratings start to soar.

Foster most recently directed an episode of the Netflix original series, House of Cards. She has also directed several films including 2011’s The Beaver which starred Mel Gibson and Jennifer Lawrence. Foster also received an Emmy nomination for an episode of Netflix’s Orange is the New Black that she directed. However, she has never directed Clooney in a film and she says she is very excited to.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to start our Money Monster adventure alongside such a talented and passionate team,” Foster said in a statement. “[Chairman] Tom Rothman and TriStar really get the movie and are the best cheerleaders our filmmaking team could hope for.”

  • Jodie Foster Talks Best Director Emmy Nom

Jodie Foster Talks Best Director Emmy Nom

Jodie Foster has received a Best Director Emmy nomination for her work on the Netflix original series Orange Is The New Black. Foster directed the third episode of the show’s first season, entitled “Lesbian Request Denied” that focused on the backstory of Laverne Cox’s character Sophia Burset.

“As a director, dramedy is what I do. It’s not who I am as an actor. The genre requires a very specific skill in terms of recognizing what is quirky and perverse, and to be moved by it. The female prisoners on Orange Is The New Black have a very spiritual journey that’s so complex. They’re all soul-searching and they change through each other” said Foster of her experience on OITNB.

Foster has been steadily building her television expertise, this being her second Emmy nomination after being nominated for the 1999 Showtime film The Baby Dance, which she executive produced. She returned to OITNB to direct the season two episode “Thirsty Bird,” and also recently took a turn as director for another popular Netflix series, House of Cards.

“I’m not one for lounging around and having long soliloquies about a character” said Foster when addressing the drastic differences between the preparation process for film versus television. “TV is the biggest team effort and the pace happens so fast.”

To remedy this, Foster met with actors before shooting “Lesbian Request Denied” to delve into their characters, lending her unique perspective of being both an actor and director. “I am an actor’s director, the first of whom signed with Orange. A lot of the actresses on the show are fresh out of Juilliard.”

“Lesbian Request Denied” is one of the most notable episodes of season one, as it addresses in detail the transition process of Sophia, a transgendered woman in prison for credit card fraud. “It’s all about the journey of Laverne’s character and it’s the beginning of the audience really understanding what Orange Is The New Black is really about,” said Foster of the episode. “It’s about identity and struggle.”

Foster’s direction clearly jives with the cast as her nomination is one of many among the OITNB actors, most notably Laverne Cox’s history-making nomination for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series as Cox is the first openly transgendered actor to be nominated for an Emmy.

  • Alexandra Hedison Marries Jodie Foster

    Alexandra Hedison Marries Jodie Foster

Jodie Foster now has a new title to add to her resume … a bride!

Foster’s rep Jennifer Allen confirmed that she, and her girlfriend for over a year Alexandra Hedison, married over the weekend.

The news of Foster’s marriage comes 15-months after publicly coming out about her sexuality. During the 2013 Golden Globes, while accepting the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award, Foster addressed what so many already knew … that she is a lesbian.

“There won’t be a big coming out speech tonight because I already did my coming out about a thousand years ago back in the Stone Age — in those very quaint days where a fragile young girl would open up to trusted friends and family and co-workers and then gradually, proudly, to everyone who knew her, who she actually met,” Foster said.

“But now, apparently, I’m told that every celebrity is expected to honor the details of their private life with a press conference, a fragrance, and a primetime reality show… I am not Honey Boo Boo,” she said. “I have given everything up there since the time that I was 3 years old — that’s reality show enough, don’t you think?”

Hedison previously dated comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, but they later split, after three years, in 2004. Foster was in a relationship with Cydney Bernard for 20 years before calling in quits in 2008. They currently co-parent their two sons Charles and Kit.

    Congratulations to the happy couple!

  • Jodie Foster and Girlfriend, Alexandra Hedison, Tie the Knot

Jodie Foster is a married woman now! The 51-year-old actress and film director has tied the knot with her girlfriend, Alexandra Hedison.

According to E! News, Foster’s representative confirmed that the two married at an “undisclosed location.” Speculation of Foster’s wedding began to surface after several media outlets reported the news last weekend.

The news comes just 15 months after Foster spoke openly about her sexuality for the first time. At the 2013 Golden Globes, Foster definitely had a lot to say when she took the stage to accept the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award. Her acceptance speech was a metaphorical reference about the award and her sexual orientation.

“There won’t be a big coming out speech tonight because I already did my coming out about a thousand years ago back in the Stone Age — in those very quaint days where a fragile young girl would open up to trusted friends and family and co-workers and then gradually, proudly, to everyone who knew her, who she actually met,” Jodie said at the time.

“But now, apparently, I’m told that every celebrity is expected to honor the details of their private life with a press conference, a fragrance, and a primetime reality show… I am not Honey Boo Boo,” she quipped. “I have given everything up there since the time that I was 3 years old — that’s reality show enough, don’t you think?”

The famed Silence of the Lambs actress ended her speech by expressing her gratitude toward her family, professional staff and ex-partner Cydney Bernard, whom she has two children with.

“[Thank you] to my heroic co-parent, my ex-partner in love but righteous soul sister in life, my confessor, ski buddy… most beloved BFF of 20 years, Cydney Bernard,” she said. “Thank you, Cyd. I am so proud of our modern family.”

Foster and Hedison began dating sometime last summer.

  • Jodie Foster Weds Girlfriend Alexandra Hedison

Oscar winning actress and filmmaker Jodie Foster is officially off the market. Foster’s rep has confirmed that the Silence of the Lambs actress and photographer/actress Alexandra Hedison got married last weekend after about one year of dating.

No details have been reported concerning the ceremony or reception. And if Foster stays true to character, we probably won’t hear much, because the actress is known to keep the details of her private life close to the vest.

Hedison is the former girlfriend of Ellen DeGeneres. Apart from her career as a photographer, she is an actress and appeared in several episodes of the Showtime drama The L Word.

Foster and former partner Cydney Bernard ended their relationship in 2008 after 20 years together. They have two sons Charlies and Kit. Despite years of speculation concerning her sexuality, Foster never made explaining her personal love life a public priority.

In what has now become a Foster talking point, she made it pretty clear at the Golden Globes last year while accepting the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award that she is gay. She explained that everyone who needed to know about her sexuality, already knew. “I already did my coming out about a thousand years ago, back in the stone age. If you had been a public figure from the time that you were a toddler, if you had to fight for a life that felt real and honest and normal against all odds, then maybe then you too might value privacy above all else.”

Foster has had a long and lustrous career as a Hollywood A-List actress and director. She has won two Academy Awards. The first was for the film The Accused in 1988 where Foster played a rape victim. The second Oscar came in 1992 for her iconic role as FBI agent Clarice Starling in The Silence of the Lambs.

  • Alexandra Hedison Dating Jodie Foster

    Alexandra Hedison Dating Jodie Foster

We all knew that Ellen DeGeneres moved on after she married actress, Portia de Rossi, but now her ex-girlfriend, Alexandra Hedison, has moved on as well.

Hedison is allegedly dating actress, Jodie Foster. A source, close to the couple, says that they are “in love”. “It’s pretty serious,” the source says. “They’re totally in love.”

Reports that the couple were dating started emerging this Summer, after they were spotted together at a technology seminar in Los Angeles. They were then seen together, several days later, while going out for dinner.

This is the first serious relationship for both women in years. Jodie Foster separated from her girlfriend of 20 years, Cydney Bernard, in 2008. They currently share custody of their sons, Charles and Kit. Hedison ended her long-term relationship with DeGeneres in 2004, after three years together.

Foster just recently came out to the public while accepting her Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award at the Golden Globe Awards ceremony in January. During her speech she said: “This is not going to be a big coming out speech tonight because I already did my coming out about a thousand years ago back in the stone age – in those very quaint days when a fragile girl would open up to trusted friends and family and coworkers and then gradually proudly to everyone who knew her. But now apparently I’m told that every celebrity is expected to honor the details of their private life with a press conference, a fragrance and a primetime reality show.”

Jodie Foster To Direct Hostage Drama

Jodie Foster has several directing credits to her name–including “The Beaver” and “Little Man Tate”–and now she’s looking to add another.

Foster will helm “Money Monster”, a financial drama centered on a fast-talking television personality with ties to Wall Street named Lee Gates. When a bad financial tip causes a viewer to lose all his money, he takes Gates hostage on-air, creating a tense situation which is broadcasted live.

The news of Foster’s role behind the camera comes with mixed reviews, as some aren’t sure how she’ll do with such a tense script.

  • Jodie Foster: Back Up Off Of Kristen Stewart, Media

Jodie Foster has been a pretty big star for a lot of years, and a good deal of those years were her formative ones. She was a child star before that term even really existed, a little tow-headed kid who first appeared in Disney movies and on television shows like “Mayberry R.F.D” and “The Courtship Of Eddie’s Father”. She won us over with her earnest personality and freckle-faced tomboyishness.

But, like many stars who have been in the spotlight for a long time, she was way ahead of her years, which shines through in her performance as Iris in “Taxi Driver”. She was beautiful and smart and more mature than many of her peers, and soon enough she earned herself a stalker and a new wary view of the world. She’s managed to keep herself to herself, perhaps by taking non-splashy roles in recent years and staying out of the media storm that surrounds every movie star these days. In a time of social media and paparazzi, that isn’t so easy to do. But she has some words of advice to her former co-star, Kristen Stewart, and to the people who have the power to make her life a living hell now that she’s come clean about her affair with married “Snow White And The Huntsman” director Rupert Sanders.

When Foster worked with Stewart on “Panic Room”, Stewart was just a kid; in an essay penned by Foster recently, she remembers the young actress with a certain amount of innocence only found in children of a particular age, and is afraid that in the subsequent 11 years, a lot has changed. We have changed her.

A beautiful young woman strides down the sidewalk alone, head down, hands drawn into fists. She’s walking fast, darting around huge men with black cameras thrusting at her mouth and chest. ‘Kristen, how do you feel?’ ‘Smile Kris!’ ‘Hey, hey, did you get her?’ ‘I got her. I got her!’ The young woman doesn’t cry. F— no. She doesn’t look up. She’s learned, Foster writes.

Foster hands out advice to Stewart at the end of the article, but it also seems like a plea to the media, as well.

My mother had a saying that she doled out after every small injustice, every heartbreak, every moment of abject suffering. “This too shall pass.” God, I hated that phrase. It always seemed so banal and out of touch, like she was telling me my pain was irrelevant. Now it just seems quaint, but oddly true … Eventually this all passes. The public horrors of today eventually blow away. And, yes, you are changed by the awful wake of reckoning they leave behind. You trust less. You calculate your steps. You survive. Hopefully in the process you don’t lose your ability to throw your arms in the air again and spin in wild abandon. That is the ultimate F.U. and—finally—the most beautiful survival tool of all. Don’t let them take that away from you.
