  • Sarah Silverman Talks Joan Rivers And New Boyfriend

The death of Joan Rivers shocked everyone and many of her celebrity friends have expressed their feelings about her passing and the life she lived.

Sarah Silverman recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where she talked about her new relationship and the death of Joan Rivers.

“She was a hero to me, and I love her very much,” Silverman said. “I think a lot of people, when they die at 81, you go, ‘Well, she was 81, she had an amazing life.’ But she wasn’t done. She, right now, was at her most vital. Oh, my God, I tuned into ‘Fashion Police’ every Friday because they were the most hard-core jokes on TV. You just can’t believe that she’s saying them,” she said.

“She never stopped writing, and I know that if she was here she’d would want us to be here and be funny. And she’d probably want me to say, ‘Nice tie. Who made it? Calvin Clown? I like that shirt. Does it come in men’s? Oh, my gosh, Jimmy, I love your hair! You have to tell me where you bought it … . That’s for you, Joan,” she added.

Silverman and Kimmel dated for a long time but have both moved on. While some people might think the two would feel awkward talking about their past relationship, they took advantage of the situation and decided to take a few jabs at each other.

“Now, I believe that half of America thinks you’re dating Charlie Sheen,” Kimmel said, referring to Sarah’s new boyfriend Michael Sheen.

Sarah was quick with a comeback and said,

“He’s the best at what he does, he’s so good,” she said, with the audience cracking up at Kimmel’s expense. “I think he is. I just, I really am so happy to have him be a part of my life and to get to be a part of his life. And I realized, like, I don’t think I ever really knew what love was. I don’t think I’ve ever really been in love before, I realized, you know what I mean?”

The two comedians continued to joke with each other and Kimmel ended the interview by going through Sarah’s purse and finding a variety of strange items, including a Netflix envelope containing Space Jam, a handgun she claimed was for “a bit,” lipstick, a yard-long sheet of condoms and a picture of an overweight Kimmel.

Nice to see that the two jokesters can put the past behind them and still have fun together.

  • Joan Rivers’ Reported Red Carpet Funeral Today in NYC Will Honor Her Last Wishes

Joan Rivers’ Reported Red Carpet Funeral Today in NYC Will Honor Her Last Wishes

Joan Rivers reportedly will be getting the red carpet treatment for her funeral today at Temple Emanu-El in New York City.

The late groundbreaking comedienne and E! Fashion Police host will have a red carpet at her funeral, upon which family and friends will walk as they enter the temple, according to Us Weekly magazine.

Rivers will be laid to rest at Forrest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles and will reportedly be buried along with the red carpet.

“A lot of celebrities confirmed,” a source told Us. In addition, only certain individuals will have the honor of rolling it out.

The 81-year-old comedienne died Thursday, a week after she stopped breathing during a routine outpatient procedure on her vocal cords.

As tributes continue to emerge from around the world for Rivers, a moving audio clip of Rivers sharing plans for her own funeral has resurfaced. Her plans make the red carpet feature of her funeral completely appropriate and honoring of the queen of the red carpet.

“When I die — and yes, Melissa, that day will come; and yes, Melissa, everything’s in your name — I want my funeral to be a huge showbiz affair with lights, cameras, action,” Rivers wrote in her 2012 book, I Hate Everyone…Starting with Me, and later recorded for an audio version of the book.

“I want Craft services, I want paparazzi and I want publicists making a scene! I want it to be Hollywood all the way. I don’t want some rabbi rambling on; I want Meryl Streep crying, in five different accents,” she continued. “I don’t want a eulogy; I want Bobby Vinton to pick up my head and sing Mr. Lonely. I want to look gorgeous, better dead than I do alive. I want to be buried in a Valentino gown and I want Harry Winston to make me a toe tag. And I want a wind machine so that even in the casket my hair is blowing just like Beyonce’s.”

  • Giuliana Rancic Pays Tribute to ‘Fashion Police’ Cohost Joan Rivers

Giuliana Rancic, 40, paid tribute to the late Joan Rivers Thursday in a moving statement that reflected the depths of their relationship.

“It is almost impossible to describe how much I adored Joan and how much she has meant to me,” Rancic told Us Weekly. “She was not only the funniest woman I have ever met but was incredibly loving, honest, and lived her life with no regrets. Working with her for the last 13 years has been one of the true joys of my life. She could put a smile on your face, instantly, no matter how hard your day was.”

Rancic also sent her condolences to Rivers’ daughter, Melissa, and grandson, Cooper, via the magazine.

“My heart goes out to Melissa and Cooper who have lost something that can never be replaced,” Rancic told Us. “My life is so much fuller and happier because I got to share it with this beautiful person, a true genius,” she said. “I woke up today unable to grasp what the world will be like without her and at the same time feel so privileged to have called her my friend.”

Kelly Osbourne, another Fashion Police co-host, posted several tributes about the woman she called “the only grandmother I ever knew.”

Osbourne also posted a video of the first time she met Rivers in 1991, when she was only six. It was on Rivers’ short-lived talkshow, The Joan Rivers Show.

Rivers died Thursday, a week after she stopped breathing during a routine throat procedure in New York City. Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday at New York’s Temple Emanu-El.

  • Heidi Klum: Cooking in the Supermodel’s Home Is a Family Affair

Heidi Klum loves to cook, and she is imparting that love on all four of the children she had with ex-husband Seal.

“[My kids] cook everything with me. They barbecue with me, they chop with me. The little one washes,” the Project Runway host told Us Weekly during an event Thursday for the charity organization, God’s Love We Deliver, a non-profit group that provides meals for people who are too sick to cook for themselves.

“Everyone has their part to do, because I think it’s important they see how food is made, how a dish is made,” said Klum. “A lot of younger people nowadays don’t know how to cook. No one taught them. So I think it’s important to teach that to them.”

The 41-year-old German model has many other lessons she’s also teaching 10 year-old Leni, eight-year-old Henry, seven-year-old Johan, and four-year-old Lou.

“My son Henry carved his name into the dining room table,” the America’s Got Talent host told Us. “I said, ‘What’s your favorite sports car?’ He said, ‘A Ferrari.’ So I said, ‘Well, imagine you had a Ferrari and I took a knife and wrote Heidi all over the hood.’ I’m like, ‘Think of all the pieces of furniture in the house as little Ferraris, OK?’ He got it.”

Klum is also teaching her children about charitable gestures, such as donating unused toys or volunteering, as she does consistently for God’s Love We Deliver.

“I’ve been helping for the last 10 years, because I think what they do is important,” Klum told Us.

Joan Rivers was another supporter of the organization.

Joan brought love, compassion and humor to every delivery she made and every event she supported,” the organization wrote in a statement on its website. “Joan’s impact on God’s Love will be felt always by our clients, volunteers, staff and community. Rest in peace, Joan. You will forever be in our hearts.”

  • Westboro Baptist to Picket Joan Rivers’ Funeral, Call Her “Fag Enabler in Hell”

In a surprisingly uncharacteristic move, the Humanitarian arm of the Westboro Baptist Church has announced that the hate group will picket the funeral of Joan Rivers.

In a photo posted on the group’s Instagram account, they labeled the recently-deceased comedienne a “Fag Enabler in Hell”.

    They further commented:

“Joan Rivers wasted her 81 years being a cruel, vain, mocker of sin and God, serving herself and not giving a care for her, her daughter’s or her fans’ souls. Shame on anyone who DOESN’T picket her funeral! (Physically or digitally.)”

The group is probably still sore over that time that Rivers supported an Indiegogo campaign for a musical play about Shirley Phelps-Roper, the group’s leader. The show is called “God Hates This Show: Shirley Phelps-Roper In Concert, Live From Hell”. Rivers, along with Margaret Cho and author Ann Bannon donated autographed swag for funders of the project.

The campaign did achieve its $10,000 goal.

The church claims that God Hates the Media, but it has become adept at using the media, especially social media, as a tool to get its message of hate and death out to as many people as possible.

Recently, after tweeting a hate-filled message about Joan Rivers, the Westboro Twitter account was suspended.

Westboro has learned that they can stay in the minds and headlines of America by simply coattailing on whatever celebrity death or event happens to be going on that week.

Did a celeb die? Easy pickings. Tell the media you will picket their funeral.

No death this week? Fall back to the old standby of funerals of soldiers or kids.

Hardly a news cycle passes without the Westboro group finding some story on which to hang their “God Hates” protest signs.

  • Joan Rivers’ Death Mourned on Social Media

Less than one month after the death of Robin Williams, another comedy legend has passed on. Joan Rivers died on Thursday afternoon following several days spent in a medically induced coma. The comedian was 81 years old.

Rivers reportedly suffered complications on August 28 while undergoing surgery on her vocal cords. She was then put into a coma following a heart attack. Doctors had reportedly attempted to wake Rivers from her coma this week, though her condition remained serious. Rivers’ daughter Melissa Rivers revealed that her mother was moved out of intensive care on Wednesday and was “being kept comfortable” in a private room.

Rivers’ death was announced by Melissa in a heartfelt Facebook post. According to Melissa, Joan passed away while surrounded by her family and close friends.

Rivers began her career as a stand-up comedian in New York during the 1960s and soon gained a reputation for her twisted sense of humor. She first appeared on The Tonight Show in 1965 and became a regular guest on the show. She has appeared in dozens of TV shows and movies, and won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show Host in 1990 for her work on The Joan Rivers Show.

In her later years she became well-known for her appearances on E! network’s coverage of award show red carpet events, during which she often sharply criticized celebrities’ fashion choices.

Similar to Robin Williams’ death, fans of Joan Rivers (many of them celebrities themselves) have poured out their hearts on social media:

  • Joan Rivers Being Brought Out Of Coma

Joan Rivers is being brought out of a medically induced coma over the next few days, but doctors are still worried about her condition. Rivers was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital last Thursday after suffering a heart attack on the operating room table. She was undergoing surgery on her vocal cords at the time.

Doctors have told Rivers’ family members that they are concerned that the heart attack could have caused some brain problems and aren’t sure if her motor skills will be the same and are also worried about reduced brain function.

Joan’s daughter Melissa has provided several updates on the condition of her mother, but has not said much since her mother was brought out of the coma.

On Friday Melissa released an update on her mother’s condition saying,

“Her condition remains serious, but she is receiving the best treatment and care possible. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts as we pray for her recovery.”

Rivers has always been open about her health and any procedures that she has had done.

In 2013, Joan allowed cameras to film her while she dealt with a health scare. Joan had went to the doctors with a persistent cough and X-rays showed a spot on her lungs that had her doctors worried.

In spite of the scare, Joan kept her sense of humor and said,

“We’re just not going to be sad about this. We’re gonna do jokes and be up until we know. That’s how I deal with things. I’m not just gonna sit around the next couple of days and go crazy.”

Joan has received a lot of support over the last few days from her friends, family members, fans and colleagues. Everyone is hoping that’ she will pull through and that her positive outlook and sense of humor will help her deal with any complications that may arise from the incident.

  • Joan Rivers Reportedly Pulling Out Of Coma Today

Joan Rivers has been in a medically induced coma since Thursday, when a routine throat procedure caused her to go into cardiac and respiratory arrest.

The coma was intended to bring the comedic icon’s vital signs back to normal. Doctors began the process of lifting her out of the coma on Sunday and that process should be complete today. Only then will Joan Rivers’ only child, Melissa, find out what the long-term damage to her 81-year-old mother will be.

A source close to the family told the Daily News, “There is real concern that the part of the brain that controls motor skills may have been compromised, leaving her as either a vegetable or in a wheelchair.”

The news is more than a little upsetting to her daughter, as well as her friends.

“We are keeping our fingers crossed,” Melissa Rivers said in a statement on Sunday. She also said that her mother, Joan Rivers, was “resting comfortably” and asked that “everyone keep her in your thoughts and prayers.”

As composed as Melissa tried to sound, the source says otherwise.

They said Melissa was “totally hysterical and is at a loss for what to do (because) they won’t know the extent of the damage until Tuesday at the earliest.”

    Well, that is understandable.

Joan Rivers’ long-term friend, Jay Redack, is also fighting shock and dismay. He said they went to dinner on Wednesday night and Rivers didn’t seemed at all concerned about the upcoming procedure. In fact, she had just performed that night at the Laurie Beechman Theater near Times Square.

“We talked about life, Melissa, boyfriends, tennis lessons and talked about her act,” said Redack, who has been a close friend for 40 years.

“You know how polarizing she could be, but people don’t realize what a fantastic lady she is, the charities that she supports, without fanfare, without people knowing,” Redack said. “She is a great person.”

Hopefully, the news will be good for the seemingly unbeatable Joan Rivers.

  • Melissa Rivers Releases Statement, Mom Reportedly Coming Out Of Coma

Melissa Rivers Releases Statement, Mom Reportedly Coming Out Of Coma

Melissa Rivers issued a statement over the weekend regarding her mother Joan, saying the family is keeping their fingers crossed that she comes out of her medically-induced coma with no ill effects.

Rivers, 81, was put into the coma by doctors after she reportedly stopped breathing during surgery on her throat. According to a source close to the family, doctors have slowly started the process of bringing her around, which may take several hours.

“There is real concern that the part of the brain that controls motor skills may have been compromised, leaving her as either a vegetable or in a wheelchair,” the source told the Daily News.

The comedian dropped by Late Night with Seth Meyers recently to promote her new book and seemed in good health but said she travels a lot between New York and L.A.

The Daily News also reported that Rivers’ family may bring a lawsuit to Yorkville Endoscopy, the group that performed her procedure, but that has not been confirmed.

  • Joan Rivers Being Brought Out of Medically Induced Coma Amid Fears That Brain Function May Be ‘Compromised’

Doctors treating Joan Rivers have begun the process of bringing the legendary comedienne out of a medically-induced coma.

According to the New York Daily News, the process was initiated by doctors on Saturday and will not be complete until sometime today.

Doctors are reportedly concerned that complications arising from the routine throat procedure may have permanently affected Rivers’ brain functions, including those controlling motor skills.

“The waking up process has begun and will take until Tuesday,” a source close to the family told the New York Daily News. “There is a real concern that the part of the brain that controls motor skills may have been compromised, leaving her as either a vegetable or in a wheelchair.”

Another source close to the family told the New York Daily News that the family is considering a lawsuit against Yorkville Endoscopy, where Rivers had a routine throat surgery last Thursday.

“Shock and upset is turning to anger, and they are looking for someone to blame,” said the source. “The night before she was performing and now she is on life support. An 81 year-old should not have that procedure as an out-patient. Very ill-advised.”

In the meantime, doctors and family members, including Rivers’ daughter, Melissa Rivers, wait to see the the outcome as the 81-year-old comedienne is brought completely out of the medically-induced coma.

Melissa Rivers said the family remains hopeful on Sunday.

“Thank you for your continued love and support,” said the younger Rivers in the statement. “We are keeping our fingers crossed.”

The E! Fashion Police co-host was placed in the coma last week to allow her brain the time to heal following respiratory and cardiac arrest on Thursday. During a cardiac arrest, the heart stops beating, depriving the brain of oxygen. By inducing a coma, the brain is given rest as many of the normal functions of the brain are shut down so it has less work to do.

Rivers has remained unconscious since she was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital and said to be “resting comfortably.”

  • Sarah Silverman Among Celebrities Wishing Joan Rivers Well

Sarah Silverman is among a group of celebrities who have taken to social media this weekend to share their get well wishes with Joan Rivers. The 81-year-old Fashion Police host remains hospitalized in New York in what is reported as very serious condition. She is said to be on life support following a medical emergency she suffered while undergoing an endoscopy at another medical facility.

On Friday, Melissa Rivers spoke to E! News about her mother’s condition, saying, “My mother would be so touched by the tributes and prayers that we have received from around the world. Her condition remains serious but she is receiving the best treatment and care possible. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts as we pray for her recovery.”

Sarah Silverman is scheduled to appear with Joan Rivers in a couple of weeks. Her tweet indicates she has no plans of going on alone. She shared the following via Twitter on Sunday.

Sarah Silverman shocked a few people at the Emmy Awards last week when she whipped out her liquid pot vapor pen while walking the red carpet. Rumors went wild saying she was stoned at the Emmys, too. She won an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special for We Are Miracles, and had the following to say while accepting the award.

“And we’re just all made of molecules and we’re hurtling through space right now.”

She is likely hoping that all of Joan Rivers’ molecules come together for the best during this very trying time. In addition to Sarah Silverman, many additional celebrities have sent their get well wishes to Joan, too, including Lisa Vanderpump, Cat Cora, George Lopez, and Giuliana Rancic.

While telling jokes on stage in two weeks might be a bit unlikely for Joan Rivers, it’s likely that Sarah Silverman would jump for joy–as would many others–simply to see Joan up and about and feeling a whole lot better.

The Today show reported Monday that it is unknown how long the In Bed With Joan talk show host may have been without oxygen during the medical emergency. She was reportedly placed in a medically induced coma, which safely shuts downs many of the body’s functions to allow the brain to heal following a trauma.

Meanwhile Hollywood continues to tweet their support and love for the ground-breaking comedienne, including her E!’s Fashion Police.

Rivers has always been very open about her health. In 2013, she allowed cameras to follow her during a health scare for the reality show she shares with her daughter, Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best?

Doctors apparently discovered a spot on an X-ray after she complained of a persistent cough.

“We’re just not going to be sad about this,” Rivers said in typical fashion during the episode. “We’re gonna do jokes and be up until we know. That’s how I deal with things. I’m not just gonna sit around the next couple of days and go crazy.”

The incident happened just one day after Rivers appeared at an employee event for Time Inc., where witnesses said she appeared well. The news of her condition has affected fans and colleagues of Rivers, many of whom expressed their support for her recovery on social media sites. Rivers’ Fashion Police co-host, Giuliana Rancic, tweeted on Saturday, “Praying for @Joan_Rivers and @MelRivers. Even though Joan’s the strongest woman I know, every single prayer counts. I love you, Joan.”

The third host of E!’s fashion series also tweeted about praying for Rivers’ recuperation. “4 the first time in years I got down on my knees & prayed tonight! I encourage U 2 do the same 4 @Joan_Rivers my grandma! #inconsolable,” wrote Kelly Osbourne.

Rivers has seen her share of scandal recently, including accusations of making racist comments about Justin Bieber not being a “black thug”.

Before that, she had joked that staying in her daughter’s guest room was so cramped that, “Those women in the basement in Cleveland had more space, I mean it’s just the worst.” She was referring to the small group that has become known as the Cleveland Three, who had been held captive by Cleveland kidnapper Ariel Castro. The audience on the Today Show booed her.

Rivers was in an interview segment with CNN to promote a new book when was asked about her recent meanness. She grew quite upset that she would be asked such questions in what she thought would be a “softball” segment, so she promptly got up and walked out of the interview.

Days later, David Letterman lampooned the incident by getting up and walking out on his own interview with Rivers herself.

  • Joan Rivers Accused Of Making Racist Comments

Joan Rivers doesn’t have a filter and she usually says whatever comes to her mind. It’s not uncommon for Rivers to say things that are offensive, and most people just laugh them off and let them slide.

Lately, Rivers has been pressing her luck and making more people mad than usual. Just a few months ago she was criticized for telling a joke about the women who had been abducted and held hostage in Ohio. She has also made offensive comments about Kristen Stewart, Lindsay Lohan and even President Obama and his wife.

Rivers has never apologized for any of her offensive jokes and says that they were meant to be funny and that anyone who is offended by her material should just lighten up.

Rivers has managed to make headlines again for her bad jokes and this time she is accused of making racist comments about Justin Bieber. Rivers made the comments on E!’s Fashion Police after being asked how she felt about Bieber.

“That little b***ch just gets on my nerves,” Rivers said.

“You are not a big black thug, you are just like your shoes – ordinary and completely white,” she said to Bieber while looking at the camera.

Rivers had obviously said things that were much worse and the strange thing is that Bieber isn’t the one who is upset about the comments.

Victor Willis of the music group The Village People is the one who is angry over the comments. He called Rivers out on Twitter over the remarks and said that he believes she should apologize for them and stop being so rude and offensive.

Rivers hasn’t released a statement about Willis or his opinions and if she does it will probably just be something that offends him.

Do you think Rivers is too mean and would you consider her joke racist?

  • David Letterman Punks Joan Rivers, Walks Out

Joan Rivers has had a week of headline grabbing. First she got herself into some hot water for calling President Obama the first gay president, and calling First Lady Michelle Obama a “trans”.

Then she sat down for a short segment with CNN talking head Fredricka Whitfield, who asked her about her comments on Fashion Police, deriding celebrity fashion choices. The conversation got a bit confrontational. Rivers defended her frequent comments.

“It’s not mean, it’s not mean, it’s not mean. I tell the truth,” said Rivers. “I’m sure I say the same things that all the viewers say to their friends sitting next to them on the couch. These ladies make $28 million a picture. “Do you really think that Nicki Minaj cares I didn’t like her dress?”

Then Whitfield pressed a bit more, asking Rivers about some direct things she had said in her book, some of which have been seen as quite mean.

But as soon as Rivers was asked about her own fashion choices, such as wearing fur on the cover of her book, she got quite upset.

“You are not the one to interview a person who does humor. Sorry,” said Rivers. Then she stood up and walked out on the interview. That in itself also was a media event on a slow news day.

But Rivers was soon to get a taste of her own medicine, once again, this time from David Letterman. Rivers visited The Late Show, and Letterman asked her about the walkout on CNN. As she started to answer him, he stood up and walked offstage, leaving her there by herself, with the audience cheering.

A Tonight Show hosting vet herself, Rivers took the joke in stride, “interviewing” herself for a few moments, making a joke about her sex life, before throwing the show to a commercial.
