  • Jill Duggar: Son’s Birth Brought Her Closer to Hubby Derick Dillard

Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard are much closer since the birth of their son, Israel David Dillard. The 19 Kids and Counting couple welcomed their baby boy into their world on April 6th. Jill experienced a total of 70 hours of labor before giving birth via a C-section.

Jill said in a recent interview with People magazine that Israel is “worth every single contraction.”

Proud father Derick Dillard sang ‘Jesus Loves Me’ to his new baby while Jill Duggar was recovering from surgery.

“[It was] the song I’d sung to him every night when Jill was pregnant. I looked at him and thought, ‘This is my son. I love this person,’” Derick said.

Jill Duggar is comfortably continuing her recovery at home these days, and nursing baby Israel. She has lots of help from her Duggar siblings, in addition to mom Michelle Duggar, dad Jim Bob Duggar, and mother-in-law Cathy Dillard. Even though a C-section wasn’t what she and Derick had planned for, she claims she wouldn’t change any of it.

“I love our birth story because it bonded us so well. It brought us through something amazing together,” she said.

Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard’s birth story will air on a special episode of 19 Kids and Counting on May 5th. Yes, the TLC cameras were present for a good deal of Jill Duggar’s labor. They couldn’t be there for the delivery because that required that she be wheeled into the operating room.

“It was a journey that we needed to go through,” Jill Duggar says.

Fans are rejoicing right along with Jill Duggar, Derick Dillard, and the entire 19 Kids and Counting family on the arrival of Israel David Dillard, and are no doubt looking forward to the May 5th show.

  • ’19 Kids and Counting’ Star Jill Duggar Had C-Section

19 Kids and Counting Star Jill Duggar had her and Derick Dillard’s baby, Israel David Dillard, via a C-section, answering at least part of the question fans have had about why she wound up having the baby in a hospital instead of at home as the midwife-in-training had planned.

Even though some hospitals advise against vaginal births after C-sections, Jill Duggar Dillard believes she and her husband will be blessed with many more children.

“The doctor told me he has no doubt I’ll be able to have a vaginal delivery the next time,” she said. “We told the doctor, ‘Stitch me up really well.”

The 19 Kids and Counting star endured about 70 hours of labor before the decision was made to deliver the baby via a C-section.

“She had labored for so long. There’s no shame in that, there’s no shame in not progressing, there’s no shame in getting a C-section,” Derick said.

“It was confirmation for us that God was leading us,” Jill said. “We were grateful for God showing us what to do in time.”

Israel David Dillard is the fourth grandchild for Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar. Son Josh Duggar and his wife Anna have three, with a fourth on the way–meaning the 19 Kids and Counting patriarch and matriarch will have five grandchildren before the end of the year.

TLC is airing a very special episode of 19 Kids and Counting on May 5th, and it will feature the birth of Israel David Dillard. Jill Duggar Dillard’s labor and delivery will be highlighted during the show.
