  • Jessie J Cancels Shows After Surgery, Tells Instagram Followers She’s ‘Not Ok’

Jessie J has cancelled shows after having surgery–although she hasn’t disclosed the kind of surgery she underwent. The singer shared via social media about a week ago that she was going to have surgery. Recent Instagram posts alert fans of cancelled shows.

“I’m going to be offline for a few days and I wanted to show you why,” Jessie J said via Instagram about a week ago.

“PLEASE don’t keep asking me or harassing my close ones on here or anywhere for information. Its personal and I know you can respect that I just wanted to explain to my fans why I may go AWOL for a minute,” she added.

This announcement was accompanied by the following video clip.

A couple of days ago Jessie J announced she had to cancel the shows because of her surgery. She said she was “medically advised” not to perform for a while.

She shared the following post-op photo that she captioned, “I have seen a lot of “How are you today” comments… How am I…. *Looks up sighs and has to be honest* I am not ok… I am in a lot of pain. But I’m working on it with the doctors. We all have our moments and one of mine is now. Being human sucks when you are non stop and your body says NOPE not right now. Unexpected but I’m here trying my best to not let it win. Sometimes admitting how you really feel can be the quickest road to recovery. And PLEASE know all of your understanding, love and support helps me so much. (And the morphine) (And my Mums hugs) How are you today?
    Love Jess x”

Jessie J had to cancel shows back in 2012. It wasn’t because of surgery that time, but for ‘vocal rest’ instead. And a few months ago she had to cancel performances due to a ‘sudden illness.’

Hopefully whatever surgery Jessie J had that led to the cancellation of some of her shows results in a much healthier, happier singer.

Jessie J not only feels lousy–as noted in her ‘not ok’ comment–but her messages indicate something is or was very seriously wrong.

Fans are no doubt anxiously awaiting more information and hopefully good news about Jessie J.

  • Jessie J Defends Ariana Grande, Claims The Singer Is Not A Diva

Ariana Grande has been having her share of hate with allegations of diva behavior, but singer Jessie J refuses to believe the rumors. Jessie J recently defended Grande, whom she collaborated with recently for the single “Bang Bang” with Nicki Minaj.

Last week, at the William Rast debut at Lord & Taylor in New York City, Jessie J spoke to Us Weekly and told the publication why Grande was not a diva.

“I always say, judge a person when you meet them. I’ve met Ariana, and there’s a very thin line between ‘diva’ and ‘survival.’ And a lot of people can’t [differentiate that] — and I’ve had that,” Jessie J said. “I’ve had the diva stuff. And it’s when people can’t cope with how passionate you are, and how much you care.”

Jessie J also added that Grande was very young but “super talented” and “very sure of what she wants,” which is probably why people perceive the singer to be exacting. “I think she’s wonderful. She’s great,” said Jessie J.

According to Yahoo!, Grande recently scrapped an Australian schedule for promotion because she didn’t like her pictures from a photo shoot, and some fans in The US were reportedly snubbed by the “Problem” singer. However, Jessie J only has praises to sing of her.

“She’s wonderful and she’s had an extraordinary amount of success and the media sadly can’t keep celebrating that, so they have to find something that they feel people would want to be more nosily interested in,” said Jessie J.

Meanwhile, Sweet Talker, Jessie J’s latest album, is reportedly getting so-so reviews. The New York Post gave the album 2-and-a-half stars, noting that Jessie J had “vocal gifts” but that they could sometimes produce “overblown results.”

Sweet Talker is at its best when the Brit pipes down a little and lets the songs do the work,” wrote the publication’s Hardeep Phull of Jessie J’s third album.

  • Nicki Minaj: Jessie J’s ‘Bang Bang’ Lands Her on UK Charts

Nicki Minaj has landed on the singles chart in the U.K. for the first time ever. Jessie J’s new hit song, ‘Bang Bang‘ features both Minaj and Ariana Grande. It has hit the number one spot in the U.K. for singles–landing Nicki Minaj in a place she’s never been before.

In an ironic twist, ‘Bang Bang’ isn’t doing nearly as much for Jessie J or Ariana Grande, since both have topped the U.K. charts before. Ariana Grande hit their number one spot with her hit song ‘Problem,’ and Jessie J has had two prior number one hits in the U.K. Nicki Minaj stands to gain a lot by topping the charts there. Her U.S. hit ‘Anaconda‘ is set for its British release in October.

Check out a trailer for the ‘Bang Bang’ music video and see what all the hype is about.

Nicki Minaj, Jessie J, and Ariana Grande are in excellent company on the U.K. singles chart this week. Sigma, featuring Paloma Faith is at the number two spot with ‘Changing.’ The number three spot is filled with Taylor Swift and ‘Shake It Off.’ Calvin Harris, featuring John Newman have the number four spot with their hit single ‘Blame.’ And the number five slot is filled by Lilly Wood and Robin Schulz with ‘Prayer in C.’

Does landing at the number one spot on the British singles charts with Jessie J and Ariana Grande mean Nicki Minaj is a shoe-in for a huge hit when ‘Anaconda’ releases in the U.K. next month? How do you suppose people in those parts of the world will react to the music video if that, too, makes its way across the Atlantic?

Haven’t seen it? Oh, go ahead and check that out, too. A warning, however. As with most things related to Nicki Minaj, viewing by young children (and some adults, too) isn’t recommended.
