  • Jessica Chastain Sick of Feud Rumors, Says There’s No Bad Blood Between Her and Jennifer Lawrence

Jessica Chastain has had enough of the rumor that pits her and Jennifer Lawrence against each other in some sort of feud. She says there is no feud, but the media has fed on the rumor for so long that most believe the two actresses are at each other’s throats.

During an interview with Haute Living, Jessica Chastain explained how another rumor bothers her, too–the one that claims women don’t work well together.

“There has been a stigma out there that women don’t work well together. I’ve never seen women like this. I remember growing up hearing this myth, that women fight when they’re together and it’s completely inaccurate. I’ve never seen it,” she said.

The rumor about Jessica Chastain and Jennifer Lawrence stems from the 2013 Oscars, when Lawrence was nominated for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, and Chastain for hers in Zero Dark Thirty. Jennifer Lawrence won.

“I know also during Oscar season media, because they were trying to get headlines and get clicks, were trying to fabricate a fake rivalry between Jennifer Lawrence and myself and I immediately came out and said this is a media myth that has to stop,” Jessica Chastain said.

“The women I know are not like this and I cheer for women to succeed because I know when an actress succeeds that means there’s going to be that many more roles for women because an audience is going to demand it,” she added.

Jessica Chastain lauded Jennifer Lawrence for her 2015 op-ed titled “Why Do I Make Less Than My Male Co-Stars?”

“It was incredible. I loved her op-ed…and I was really disappointed after she wrote it that she got criticism,” Chastain said.

Kudos to Jessica Chastian for wanting to put an end to the rumor of a Jennifer Lawrence feud. The media sensationalizes everything, and for them to pit two women against each other for the sake of a headline is shameful.

  • Jessica Chastain Helps Launch Nonprofit Promoting Empowerment of Women in Film Industry

Jessica Chastain, in conjunction with Queen Latifah, Frieda Pinto, and more, have launched a nonprofit designed to empower women in the film industry.

We Do It Together” is served by an advisory board comprised of Juliette Binoche, Ziyi Zhang, and Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke–in addition to Jessica Chastain and Queen Latifa. The organization aims to financially support and produce films, documentaries, and TV shows designed to empower women.

In October, Jessica Chastain spoke with Variety about gender discrimination in Hollywood.

“There’s no excuse,” she said at the time

“There’s not reason why [an actress such as Jennifer Lawrence] should be doing a film with other actors and get paid less than her male co-stars,” Chastain added. “It’s completely unfair. It’s not right. It’s been happening for years and years. I think it’s brave to about it. I think everyone should talk about it.”

It certainly sounds like Queen Latifah, Jessica Chastain, and many other women are done talking about this issue. They’ve stepped up to the plate to do something about it.

It will certainly be interesting to see the good” We Do It Together” fosters with regard to empowering women in Hollywood.

  • Jessica Chastain Takes Role In Sitting Bull Movie

Jessica Chastain has confirmed that she is taking the lead in an interesting film aptly titled Woman Walks Ahead.

Jessica Chastain will play New York activist, Caroline Weldon, who worked with the famed Sitting Bull as a translator in 1889 until his death.

It will undoubtedly showcase Jessica Chastain‘s uncanny talent for period roles.

But, that’s not the only thing that The Martian and Crimson Peak star has on her plate right now.

Jessica Chastain is also working on Xavier Dolan’s first English-language film, The Death and Life of John F. Donovan.

  • Jessica Chastain to Play Sitting Bull Confidante Caroline Weldon in New Film

Jessica Chastain to Play Sitting Bull Confidante Caroline Weldon in New Film

Jessica Chastain is reportedly taking on a very interesting role. The actress is set to play artist, activist, and Sitting Bull confidante Caroline Weldon in the upcoming film Woman Walks Ahead.

In 1889, Weldon traveled to the Standing Rock Indian Reservation as part of the National Indian Defense Association. There, she acted as a translator for Sioux chief Sitting Bull and worked to help him retain land which the US government was trying to seize.

“Her efforts, however, backfire, as she is ordered to leave the reservation, and the Standing Rock Sioux were bullied into signing away their land. But she returned with her teenage son, settling at Sitting Bull’s camp on the Grand River. In recognition of her unusual qualities, Sitting Bull’s people called her ‘Toka heya mani win,’ or ‘Woman Walking Ahead,’” according to Deadline.

The film is slated for a 2017 release.

This isn’t the only big role Chastain has on the horizon.

Chastain recently started work on the film Miss Sloane, in which “an ambitious lobbyist faces off against the powerful gun lobby in an attempt to pass gun control legislation.”

  • Chris Hemsworth No Longer “Sexiest Man Alive,” Jessica Chastain Teases Him Over Demotion

Chris Hemsworth is no longer the “Sexiest Man Alive,” having given up the title on to this year’s winner, David Beckham. Pal Jessica Chastain just can’t let it go, however, and is having fun teasing Chris Hemsworth over his recent demotion.

Using Twitter as her weapon of choice, Jessica Chastain Tweeted out the new People magazine photo of David Beckham to Chris Hemsworth.

Chris Hemsworth proved he’s a really good sport, taking Jessica Chastain’s teasing in stride.

Chastain didn’t throw in the towel, however, striking back at her good friend with one last zinger.

Chris Hemsworth and Jessica Chastain became good friends while working together on Snow White and the Huntsman. They clearly get one another’s senses of humor.

Don’t you love how Jessica Chastain simply wouldn’t let up on Chris Hemsworth? What good is a friendship if you can’t have lots of fun teasing each other?

  • Jessica Chastain Teases Chris Hemsworth in Wake of David Beckham’s “Sexiest Man Alive” Win

Jessica Chastain teased Chris Hemsworth mercilessly on Wednesday after learning that David Beckham was named 2015’s “Sexiest Man Alive” by People magazine. Hemsworth was “Sexiest Man Alive” for 2014.

Using Twitter as her preferred means of teasing, Jessica Chastain Tweeted a photo of David Beckham’s magazine cover to Chris Hemsworth.

Chris Hemsworth refused to allow Jessica Chastain the satisfaction of knowing her Tweet upset him. He took her teasing in jest.

Jessica Chastain got the last laugh, however, throwing yet another Twitter comment back in her Snow White and the Huntsman costar’s face.

Don’t you love the camaraderie between Jessica Chastain and Chris Hemsworth? After all, what’s a friendship without some good-natured ribbing.

Chris Hemwsworth is gorgeous even if he has to give up his “Sexiest Man Alive” status.

  • Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt Look Totally Badass In New Posters For ‘Huntsman: Winter’s War’

Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt, Jessica Chastain and Chris Hemsworth look totally badass in new character posters released for Huntsman: Winter’s War.

Universal unveiled the four new character posters for spinoff to Snow White and the Huntsman, which features two new faces.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the new film reunites Chris Hemsworth’s huntsman Eric with Charlize Theron’s evil queen Ravenna. New characters include Jessica Chastain as a great warrior and Emily Blunt as an unstoppable ice queen.

Kristen Stewart, who played Snow White in the first installment will not appear in the Winter’s War, which takes place before Eric and Ravenna met Snow White. Blunt’s character, Freya, is Ravenna’s sister and has fled their kingdom after a heartbreaking betrayal and locked herself away in an icy palace. But when Freya’s two most beloved huntsmen, Eric and Sara (Chastain), defy her commands and fall in love, she casts them out into the wilderness.

Years later, Freya learns that Charlize Theron‘s character has been vanquished by Snow White, so she seeks to claim her Magic Mirror, only to find that her sister can be resurrected.

Things will likely get downright crazy when the two evil sisters amass an army to take out lovebirds. The two huntsmen become the only hope in eliminating the forces of evil.

Directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan, who was visual effects supervisor on the original film, the movie’s trailer will be released on Wednesday and is slated for theaters April 22.

  • Jessica Chastain Spanks the Material Girl

Jessica Chastain Spanks the Material Girl

Jessica Chastain was invited up on stage to dance with Madonna during her concert in Prague on Saturday. The Material Girl’s Rebel Heart Tour has thus far grossed approximately $50 million.

Shortly after she was pulled from the audience, Jessica Chastain danced to the reggae-flavored song “Unapologetic Bitch” from Madonna’s “Rebel Heart” album. After getting down to the music for a minute or so, Chastain impulsively spanked Madonna, who was crawling on her hands and knees in front of her.

Just like Taylor Swift, Madonna has been known lately for inviting A-listers up on to the stage during her concerts for an impromptu dance party. It’s likely this is planned well ahead of time.

Jessica Chastain was in Prague, where she’s filming The Zookeeper’s Wife. The film is based on the diaries of Antonina Zabinksi, in the book by Diane Ackerman.

This wasn’t Jessica Chastain’s first time meeting Madonna. Back in 2011, Madonna presented her with the Gucci Award for Women in Cinema in Venice at the Venice Film Festival.

Jessica Chastain isn’t the first A-lister Madonna has brought up on stage recently either. Katy Perry, Anderson Cooper, and Amy Schumer have all graced her stage of late.

None other than Jessica Chastain, however, can lay claim to having spanked the Material Girl.

  • January Jones Going as Bryce Dallas Howard for Halloween. Or Is That Jessica Chastian?

January Jones, the Mad Men star who wowed audiences as Don Draper’s wife for a while, has announced what her Halloween costume will be.

January Jones’ son, Xander, got to pick out his mom’s Halloween look, pairing it with his own costume choice.

“I’m Claire from Jurassic World, per my son’s request,” January Jones said.

So what is Xander sporting this Halloween?

“He is a T-Rex and the dog is a Raptor. I don’t know. He wants to be Owen and a T-Rex,” January Jones said, referring to Chris Pratt’s character from Jurassic World.

But, back to January Jones’ costume. She is going as Claire, who was played by Bryce Dallas Howard. Howard herself made headlines recently when she talked about her stunt work for the film, which included running in stiletto heels. But it was another Bryce Dallas Howard headline this week that hits closer to home for January Jones.

Jessica Chastain and Bryce Dallas Howard have often been mistaken for each other. Just this week, Jessica Chastain told Jimmy Fallon that someone recently congratulated her on Jurassic world. But she is not in Jurassic World. That was Bryce Dallas Howard.

This is not the first time the issue has hit headlines. Bryce Dallas Howard and Jessica Chastain were in The Help together and had a chance to suss through this problem.

“First of all, any day where I get confused for Jess is a very good day. She’s one of the most beautiful human beings I’ve ever seen. We went to college at the same time in New York. She went to Juilliard and I went to NYU. It’s been going on for a long time. I remember thinking that I need to meet her. When we did The Help, we met each other and the first thing we did was find a mirror. We stood in front of it. And we compared. We’ve got red hair. There’s enough similarity that people make that comparison. My goal is to play sisters with her.”

Chastain herself tweeted about the phenomenon.

So if January Jones is smart, she can hit houses twice on Halloween, once as Bryce Dallas Howard, once as Jessica Chastain.

  • Tom Hiddleston Strips Nude in “Crimson Peak,” Stephen Colbert Questions It

Tom Hiddleston chatted about his role in Crimson Peak while a guest on The Late Show Friday night, and Colbert made sure to bring up Hiddleston’s nude scene.

“We do not see the ladies in this movie showing their kibbles and bits, but we do get to see your…English countryside,” Stephen Colbert noted.

Calling Crimson Peak a Gothic romance, Hiddleston insisted that means the inclusion of love, death, sex, and violence.

“I don’t know how anyone else has sex,” Tom Hiddleston said. “As far as I understand it if you keep your pants on it’s not gonna work.”

Colbert chimed in, saying this was why Victorians were so repressed.

Crimson Peak’s director Guillermo del Toro was on hand for the conversation, too, which was hilarious.

Crimson Peak stars Mia Wasikowska, who plays aspiring novelist Edith Cushing. After she falls for Tom Hiddleston’s brooding character Thomas Sharpe, the two leave turn-of-the-century New York for the far spookier climes of his ancestral home in the north of England. All too soon Edith encounters ghosts of the past, though it’s the very present tense threat posed by her sister-in-law Lucille (played by Jessica Chastain) that poses the greatest danger to her. Wandering the haunted halls of the crumbling mansion, Edith suspects that the siblings are harboring some disturbing secrets that could wind up dedadly.

Tom Hiddleston compares Crimson Peak to another Giullermo del Toro film, The Devil’s Backbone.

“Guillermo’s explanation of the supernatural is made very clear in [that film],” Hiddleston says. “He says, ‘What is a ghost? A tragedy condemned to repeat itself time and again, an instant of pain, something dead which seems to be alive.’ I remember it really struck me. There’s a twin line in Crimson, which is Lucille’s, which is, ‘The horror was for love, love makes monsters of us all.’”

Will you be checking out Crimson Peak? It opened in theaters nationwide on Friday.

You can be sure Stephen Colbert will visit the box office or score some Fandango tickets. After all, Tom Hiddleston has that nude scene.

  • Jessica Chastain Once Pretended To Be Bryce Dallas Howard

Jessica Chastain and fellow actress Bryce Dallas Howard look very much alike and that fact has not gone unnoticed lately.

In fact, Jessica Chastian and Bryce Dallas Howard get credit where credit isn’t due on many occasions for roles that the other played.

Earlier this year, Jessica Chastain even posted a song parody to Instagram of Bryce Dallas Howard claiming that she is NOT Jessica Chastain. Whew!

But, in real life, Bryce Dallas Howard said she loves getting mistaken for the very similar-looking Jessica Chastain.

Howard said of the constant mix up, “First of all, any day where I get confused for Jess is a very good day. She’s one of the most beautiful human beings I’ve ever seen.”

Jessica Chastain told Jimmy Fallon of one particular incident that took place on a New York subway in 2004, saying, “Then they go, ‘Yes, The Village was such a great movie.’”

Of course, The Village was Bryce Dallas Howard.

Jessica Chastain continued, “I had this moment of do I tell them that they’re wrong and it’s not me, or do I pretend I’m Bryce. So I pretended I was Bryce.”

I’m sure that would have been much easier than explaining the confusion.

What do you think of the confusion between Jessica Chastain and Bryce Dallas Howard?

  • Jessica Chastain: “Crimson Peak” Actress Incognito, But Not for Halloween

Jessica Chastain is almost unrecognizable on the November W magazine cover and on the inside spread. The Crimson Peak actress wasn’t simply scouring for Halloween options, but underwent a style transformation that showed off her very diverse personality and range of talents.

This marked the third time Jessica Chastain covered W, but this cover and spread are unlike anything she’s done before.

Part of the spread features Jessica Chastain with long, hot-pink hair. In the rest, the star of The Martian sports platinum blonde locks, styled in a pompadour.

An interview inside W proves that Jessica Chastain’s personality is as adaptable as her appearance. She dishes on a future film role she’d love to score.

“One of my goals is to play a villain in a Bond film. People ask me if I want to be a Bond girl, and I say, ‘No, I want to be the villain.’ I’m waiting for that call!”

Besides Crimson Peak and The Martian, Jessica Chastain is known for roles in Interstellar, Zero Dark Thirty, and The Help.

Would you have readily recognized Jessica Chastain had her name not been on the W magazine cover and within its pages?

Do these Jessica Chastain shots give you any ideas for Halloween?

  • Jessica Chastain Rocks Punk Rock Look For Photo Shoot, Dishes On Dream Role

Jessica Chastain has donned a completely different look for the cover of the latest issue of W magazine that may surprise fans of the Oscar-nominated actress.

While the 38-year-old actress has transformed numerous times for the big screen, her punk look for W is quite the departure from previous looks.

In many of the shots, the natural redhead’s locks are hot-pink. Rocking bold blush, blood-red lipstick and thick, drawn-on brown make her look so very far removed from her typical pristine red carpet looks she seems to prefer.

Other pics in the photo shoot feature Chastain with platinum blonde hair styled in a pompadour hairstyle.

If one can look past the extreme hair and makeup, Jessica Chastain’s clothing is a whole other stylish beast. The Martian actress wears a Givenchy leather jacket and lace dress. For the second set of shots she wears a take on the feather-topped Proenza Schouler dress a pregnant Kim Kardashian wore to the 2015 CFDA Fashion Awards this past June, as reported by Us Weekly.

For the cover article, entitled Transformer, Chastain spoke about her upcoming role in Crimson Peak, and said she dreams of one day tackling one role in particular.

“One of my goals is to play a villain in a Bond film,” said Chastain. “People ask me if I want to be a Bond girl, and I say, ‘No, I want to be the villain.’ I’m waiting for that call!”

The actress, who typically keeps her private life on the down-low, gave a tidbit about her boyfriend, Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo, whom she’s been dating for the past four years.

“He’s a gentleman, and that’s very important to me,” Chastain said. “He’s from an old-school Italian family. No one in his family has ever been divorced!”

So what do you think of Jessica Chastain’s look for W magazine?

  • Jessica Chastain Doesn’t Want to Be a Bond Girl

Jessica Chastain would make a pretty good Bond villain, don’t you think?

The actress, who is currently starring in the box office smash The Martian, recently talked to W magazine about her past roles and her unconventional career path. It’s impossible to typecast Chastain, as she’s played so many different characters.

For instance, does Jessica Chastain want to be a Bond girl? Who wouldn’t want to be a Bond girl, right?

Well, for Chastain, there’s something much more intriguing in playing the villain, not the girl.

    From the W profile:

In 2011, Chastain starred in seven films, and that glut of characters worked in her favor, showing her range as an actress and making her practically ubiquitous. “It did confuse people,” Chastain said. “I would hear, ‘Who is the real Jessica?’ a lot. I think of versatility as a good thing, but it does make it difficult for audiences to know you.” Inside the museum, we took a wrong turn, ending up in a sculpture gallery filled with muscular male nudes. “They rarely say that about men,” Chastain continued, staring at a Rodin. “They never worry about ‘knowing’ them. One of my goals is to play a villain in a Bond film. People ask me if I want to be a Bond girl, and I say, ‘No, I want to be the villain.’ I’m waiting for that call!”

    Us too, Jessica.

Jessica Chastain’s next big movie is Crimson Peak, the new fantasy from Guillermo del Toro. It hits theaters October 16th.

  • Jessica Chastain Intrigues In New Clip From “The Martian”

Jessica Chastain, in her new role as astronaut Melissa Lewis, is absolutely one tough cookie.

In a new clip for The Martian, Jessica Chastain quietly and definitively shuts down some sexism thrown her way during a psychological interview.

The interview is the focus of the new clip, and features Jessica Chastain, Matt Damon and Sebastian Stan, among others.

They all had to spend 10 days in isolation as a preparation for life on the Ares 3.

Probably not. In reality, Jessica Chastain is enjoying a long-term relationship with handsome Italian fashion exec Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo, and he’s plenty to look at.

What do you think of the new clip starring Jessica Chastain? Are you excited to see The Martian?

  • Jessica Chastain Definitely NOT In Love With “Crimson Peak” Co-Star Charlie Hunnam

Jessica Chastain was quick to put the rumors to rest that she had fallen hard for her gorgeous Crimson Peak co-star, Charlie Hunnam.

Starting the rumor herself, Jessica Chastain expressed worry that she might be in trouble last year when it was made known that Charlie Hunnam would be her co-star.

Jessica Chastain said (jokingly), “Are you telling me I’m going to fall in love with Charlie Hunnam on set?”

All joking aside, there was a likelihood there that would have been true for any female. Right?

However, at last weekend’s Comic-Con, Jessica Chastain revealed that she had made it through filming Crimson Peak and had not succumbed to his charm.

Jessica Chastain was probably only able to resist because of her long-term relationship with Italian fashion executive Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo.

But, that’s pretty much all we know of her love life because Jessica Chastain (wisely) keeps it under wraps.

Jessica Chastain told E!, “When I’m engaged someday—who knows to who—I’ll probably be more open about it.”

She added, “Seeing all these interviews with actors talking about loves of their lives and then they break up in a year and you’re thinking, ‘What if something happens and they end up being a total jerk?’ Then you forever have these pictures of you standing on the red carpets together.”

    Smart move.

Are you excited to see Jessica Chastain and Charlie Hunnam in Crimson Peak, even if they aren’t in love?

  • Jessica Chastain And Bryce Dallas Howard Clear Up Identity Confusion In Song

Jessica Chastain or Bryce Dallas Howard? Well, if you’re like most, a lot of the time you don’t know.

Just for the record, Jessica Chastain: The Tree of Life, Zero Dark Thirty, Mama. NOT Jurassic World.

    Bryce Dallas Howard: Jurassic World.

Both Jessica Chastain and Bryce Dallas Howard were in The Help. Yeah, I’m not certain which one played which role, either.

Jessica Chastain and Bryce Dallas Howard got a huge kick out of a parody video from Legolambs.

The video feature what is supposed to be Bryce Dallas Howard lamenting the constant confusion.

Bryce Dallas Howard recalled the reaction from both her and Jessica Chastain. She said, “My friend emailed me about that [Legolambs] video yesterday. I was like, ‘This is brilliant!’”

She continued, “We did a Dubsmash, and Jessica was dying. She was like, ‘Okay, this is totally a thing. We need to use this power for good and do a movie together playing sisters!’”

She said recently, “First of all, any day where I get confused for Jess is a very good day. She’s one of the most beautiful human beings I’ve ever seen. We went to college at the same time in New York. She went to Juilliard and I went to NYU. It’s been going on for a long time. I remember thinking that I need to meet her.”

Bryce finally got the chance to meet Jessica Chastain on the set of The Help.

What do you think about the confusion between Jessica Chastain and Bryce Dallas Howard? Can you name off the top of your head which one played Hilly and which one played Celia in The Help?

  • Jessica Chastain, Chris Hemsworth: First Look at ‘The Huntsman’

Jessica Chastain and Chris Hemsworth star in the upcoming film The Huntsman. The prequel to 2012’s Snow White and the Huntsman, starring Chris Hemsworth and Kristen Stewart, the new film will be released in 2016.

For the first time since the actors arrived on the set of The Huntsman, photos have been shared with the media.

This won’t come as any surprise to fans, but Chris Hemsworth is as hot in the upcoming film as he was in the original.

Jessica Chastain recently appeared in a new trailer for the upcoming thriller Crimson Peak.

Jessica Chastain is best known for her roles in Interstellar and The Help. She has recently been compared–at least her physical attributes–to those of actress Bryce Dallas Howard.

Jessica Chastain and Chris Hemsworth are joined in The Huntsman by Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt, Sam Claflin, Nick Frost, Sheridan Smith, Rob Brydon, and Alexandra Roach.

It will still be 10 months before The Huntsman hits theaters, but these photos of Jessica Chastain and Chris Hemsworth will have to do for now. It shouldn’t be much longer before a trailer for the Snow White and the Huntsman prequel is released.

  • Jessica Chastain Appears in New Trailer for Horror Film ‘Crimson Peak’

Jessica Chastain appears in a new trailer for the upcoming horror film Crimson Peak.

Set in a three story Victorian mansion on an abandoned lot, the haunted house in Crimson Peak seemingly takes on a mind of its own, replete with demonic voices, shadowy figures, and creepy sounds emerging from every corner. Lady Lucille Sharpe (played by Jessica Chastain) and her questionable intentions are highlighted in the trailer as she tells Edith (played by Mia Wasikowska) to avoid certain parts of the spooky home.

In addition to Jessica Chastain and Mia Wasikowska, director Guillermo del Toro has cast Sons of Anarchy’s Charlie Hunnam and Tom Hiddleston in the horror flick.

Even Stephen King believes the film is worthy of those who love horror.

In addition to Crimson Peak, Jessica Chastain is known for her work in films including The Help and Interstellar.

Will you be checking out Mia Wasikowska, Charlie Hunnam, Tom Hiddleston, and Jessica Chastain when Crimson Peak opens in theaters in October?

Given that Crimson Peak received Stephen King’s endorsement, it might well be the best horror flick to hit theaters during the Halloween season in a long time.

  • Jessica Chastain’s Glamorous Outfit Becomes The Star Of Oscar Night

Jessica Chastain is known for her fiery red hair and keen sense of fashion. When she showed up in the Oscar red carpet, the A Most Violent Year and Interstellar star didn’t disappoint with her glamorous navy blue Givenchy gown. Chastain kept her hair simple and wore make-up by Kiehl’s and sported jewelry by by Piaget. But truly, the star of the night was Chastain’s dress which featured a beaded top along with a sash that accentuated her neckline and cleavage. Chastain was at the Oscars to present an award. She has been nominated twice before. In 2012 she was nominated for Best Actress for her work in Zero Dark Thirty and also for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Help the year before.

The dress Chastain wore for the Oscars was in stark contrast to the elegant but casual outfit she wore to the pre-Oscars party. For the party, the actress opted to wear a simple navy dress and a jacket that featured textured panels with small textile squares as well as ornate beading and floral sequins. She also wore navy blue pumps that matched the dress and chose to tie her beautiful locks in a ponytail.

In an interview with The Telegraph earlier this year, Chastain revealed that her hair actually was hindrance early in her career. “People would tell me to dye it blond when I first started auditioning in LA. Funny how defined we are by how we present ourselves to the world. I’m either thought of as ethereal or fiery. And maybe that’s the interesting thing about red hair: there’s that fiery Renaissance connotation and the ethereal,” Chastain said.

She adds, “Before then, I wasn’t getting parts because people kept telling me I wasn’t pretty enough. But I’ve come to realize that everyone’s idea of what’s pretty is so different. And this morning, for example, I had someone do my hair and make-up before I met with you. Mine is a strange industry.”

  • Jessica Chastain Floored by Racial Trolling Following Her Diversity Speech

Jessica Chastain says she is floored by the amount of racist comments directed at her following a recent speech encouraging more diversity in Hollywood.

While accepting her Most Valuable Player Award at last Thursday’s Critics’ Choice Awards ceremony, Jessica Chastain urged Hollywood executives and actors to support more diversity.

Jessica Chastain was responding to the underwhelming recognition of actors of color in this year’s Academy Awards nominations.

“Some people had taken my speech and then made it about awards — like SAG Awards or Oscars. That’s not what my speech was about,” Chastain told the Associated Press.

“To me awards are just a reflection. It’s just a symptom of the disease and the disease is in the industry. If we had more diversity in our films it would be reflected in diversity in the nominees.”

During her speech, Jessica Chastain urged her colleagues to “stand together against homophobic, sexist, misogynistic, anti-Semitic and racist agendas.” Her speech led Oprah Winfrey to mouth “wow” at the conclusion of her remarks.

Jessica Chastain conceded that she was shocked by the slew of “strange” messages she has received in the aftermath of the speech.

“I’ve had really terrible people who are racists comment on the speech and say really terrible things. I’m understanding that some people in this world, how much hate they can have,” said Jessica Chastain.

Jessica Chastain went on to say she has also received much support from those in the industry who agree with her views.

While accepting her award, Jessica Chastain said some things need to change in Hollywood and “we all need to work together to fix it.”
